Believe me that your Lebanese friend will enjoy Nigeria well, especially if he has money join.
But a black man in a white man's country? You can't really be revered over there like here.
What you guys use to console yourselves is that you are better than people back home. Hell, even celebs cry in America about bias against blacks. In music they had to create BET awards when grammy was neglecting them.
Don't get me wrong, if i were in your shoes i will also consider what anyone thinks about me as immaterial so as to live well. oh yes indeed the famiky is quite rich (they own one of these stores) and they do other stuff too. But then, they just prefer it in Nigeria (it's fine ) A black man living in a country predominated by whites needs no reverence or whatever As long as you are a citizen /legal resident, you do your thing And when you achieve your exploits you are recognised. The problem is that MOST black folks are up to no good everywhere If we were not like that, the world would probably see us different (the way the world now sees and at least respect the Chinese Japanese and South Koreans) But even if the world no like you, who cares? |

dottozil: My advice, pls remove the notion that you will be able to return the 4m in a month if invested cos this will only help you in making some rash decisions.
You can go into agriculture (fish farming for example) get someone who's done it before to advice you and mentor you.
If you are Yoruba you can also go for bars, sophisticated ones, not bear parlour. All you need is get a good location
You cannot also underestimate sports in Nigeria, you can do a football house and or become a bet9ja agent all in a nice location.
Many more just seek for advice from experienced working people this is more plausible at least you will not expect a huge profit in a short time If your mum can agree to that So be it! |

If a person invest 4m and it all goes South that person should relocate to the church. Comm'on guys all he/she needs is think. what are you saying? I have seen this play out again and again and again People losing their life savings due to the harsh business realities of Nigeria, And the wicked people out there ready to swindle unsuspecting people It's not that she has already started running a business or she had a business idea she has been nursing and learning about (if she did, she will not be here asking ) in her peculiar case, she better hold the money, or invest in fixed deposits/mutual funds any other thing will be too risky I see people make this mistakes ALL THE TIME |

dottozil: I will advise you use the money to start something, leaving the money because of scammers or blah blah will just make you look useless. Just start something even if the return will not be enough to pay your mother, the joy of a mother is to see her child be reasonable with 4m and start something when afforded the opportunity, who knows she might be testing you, if you are able to invest in something reasonable with good returns am sure your mum won't mind waiting for another month or two. that 4m might be all she has... if there is much more money in her coffers, then there is room to experiment with the 4m. (some families can afford such) But when that's the bulk of the family net worth, you better use your sense and hold it tight Nigeria is a very unforgiving country when you make business blunders |

almarthins: What did we ever do to deserve such inhuman leaders? Not that this problem has no perpetual solution but their atitude toward power generation is disheartening. being illiterate, barbaric short sighted, wicked at heart and too tribalistic is what useless citizens of Nigeria did, and quite frankly, they deserve the leaders they get, and deserve to suffer and even die, and suffer more... because how can a human being with a functional brain support foolish leaders based on religious and tribal sentiments it's a different case if the leaders forced themselves on the people, and the people are revolting en masse (like you see in countries like Algeria) these useless leaders enjoy wide support, especially from their kinsmen (tribalism) so I.don't pity Nigerians at all. Their suffering should increase maybe that would give them.small sense |

Onwards and upwards keyword: A culture of self interest and greed. EMMAACHILE: Nigeria is a third world country and is not at par with the developed world. With money, you can overcome some of these issues to an extent. Some parts of Nigeria has almost 24/7 supply of electricity like Makurdi, Jos, Lokoja (33 kva line) Health is only poor if you have life threatening diseases and issue of security is low in some cities outside Lagos. The major danger in security is on the highways and those farming in rural areas. If you live in Abuja city centre for example, how is security a threat?

Myself, for example, when two of my children were unruly, I beat them full sore, both day and night. A third child who displayed even greater disobedience, I killed her with my own hand.
We could never practice this customs in obodo oyinbo.

Not feeling at home in Nigeria anymore is common. Because of the many issues of late. But if you grew up there, and of a certain age, you will certainly miss the old days. yes I'm a Lagos boy But the rate of hate and tribalism against my people in Lagos these days, I don't still know whether I can feel at home in Lagos anymore (which btw is the only place I really feel at home in naija) imagine wanting to start an ethnic war in Lagos because one thug who tried to disrupt elections and put people life at risk was dealt with jungle justice? 7Alexandre: Singapore is super expensive...
As a new migrant you generally want to avoid areas with high cost of living...
i.e. As a New Migrant to the United States it isn’t advisable to move to either New York City, Washington DC, Los Angeles OR Miami except you have friends & family who can accommodate for the time being until you find your feet...
Generally it’s advisable to move down south where you can find cities with low cost of living i.e. Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Raleigh, Charlotte, Charleston & Tennessee
These are cities that are easily affordable for New immigrants plus you can also find Good jobs in these cities...
Once you become established usually anywhere from 3 years to 5 years, you can then move out to wherever you choose to go since you now understand better the dynamics of the American System... good advice |

AreaFada2: Sure, German is older. English more polished. Playing with German language is easier to play with than French. As a beginner, Germans appreciate your efforts more. The French expect every black man from Africa to speak good French. Many think all of Africa is francophone. So more encouraging to learn German. I find this to be so true about French people they just assume you should be able to speak French I wish the Nazis occupied them more so that they will know how it feels to have a foreign language imposed on them nonsense |
