A man was able to send his 3 children to private universities and they were able to graduate with good grades..shortly after the graduation, d man lost his job, wife's jobless..his children can't afford to get a job except for one who was able to get a job at a pharmacy..so she was able to cater for the family. Now she's also lost her job with practically no reasonable source of income for the entire family. Considering the amount spent to get these children to skul..now nothing to show for it. Mehn, I weep for this country. Buhari is only gonna try his best..he isn't gonna change anything

My appeal to the Niger Delta Avengers is to think deep about the consequences of their ill advised actions. You may think you are fighting President Muhammadu Buhari but all Nigerians know that you are fighting them including your own people - fellow Niger Deltans. You continue to blow up pipelines as if you and your people would not partake in the sufferings that would follow as a result of lean income this will translate into for FGN. Don't you know that 13% Derivation which your region enjoys would equally be affected with the consequent pauperization of your people? Nigerian nation has tried to pacify your region in numerous ways through the establishment of Niger Delta Commission, Amnesty Programme, Niger Delta Ministry etc. yet you are never satisfied and like Oliver Twist, you want more and more instead of holding your leaders accountable for the huge fund channeled to that region alone over the years, which of course, corruption has made nonsense of.
Maybe you don't know - real war which you are clamouring for is different from war movies! Ask those who witnessed/experienced kwasiokor, abandon properties etc. during Biafra Civil War and you would know its not a tea party affair. And to you the disgruntled elements who are fueling & sponsoring this crisis, please stop this nonsense before it consumes you; if it is because of lost election, take solace in the fact that PMB was elected for only four years and even one year is gone already as another opportunity would still present itself for you to realise your political ambition. To Niger Delta Avengers, please stop these bombings and table your requests in a civilised way to FGN. Embrace dialogue to resolve whatever grievances you might be nursing because to jaw-jaw is better than to war-war, this is my take.
Doesn't the Niger Delta deserve much more?

Though I don't support violence, but they deserve much more than that which has been given to them.

Chinom:
Yes, but the people washing dead bodies in Nigeria are NOT university graduates. They are usually old, semi-educated mortuary attendants. This is the point most of you are missing. Some Nigerian mortuary attendants in the West are masters degree holders in Nigeria. One might be earning Dollars, Euros or Pounds in the west, but Nigerians doing such jobs have zero job satisfaction and are mostly frustrated. Same goes for Cleaners and street sweepers.

The 'Myth' about washing dead bodies came about because the people who do it in the West would rather die than do it in Nigeria. We have to be honest to ourselves. It's not the job itself, but the fact the you have to stoop so low to do that in a Western country after all your dreams. Dead bodies are being washed daily in Nigeria by happy mortuary attendants.
Lol @Chinon.....
Whatever pays the bills is what you will do. Forget that story You are telling of them dying than doing it here.

Educate yourself my lil sisi. Immigrant is a word used to describe travellers that are poor and who are seeking help. This term is mainly used on Africans and people of Eastern Europe. Expatriate on the other hand is used when people from well-to-do background travel to other countries to work. This term is mainly used on whites
You are the one who need to educate yourself
Of course i know about that allegation, and have read countless articles about immigrants from third world condemning the class distinction, but what I am saying that in the real sense of it, they mean the same thing. Both refers to people who have left their country, period

America rules the roost - not 'Western nations'. NATO is powerless, what did they do in Libya? How have the dealt with Syria? It exists to give the impression of a democratic institution. The reality is that the Americans will ignore NATO at will, just as America and China ignore the WTO at will. They make the smaller, cowardly nations feel as though they have a say. The reality is that power is what makes right in this world not logic or reason. America spends more on its military than the whole of the EU so how can you say that they are in any way equal powers? The EU nations have no power, even as a trading bloc they are fragmented and they have no military to speak of.

Currently the Brits are upset with the Americans because some Brits wish to leave the EU and America is making threats that if they leave there will be less reason to deal with them. Those are not the words of a unified bloc. There is no Western consensus, just America and its wishes, the Europeans, the Canadians and Australians are simply to weak and cowardly to do anything about it.

The Chinese are building military strength to go with the economic might that they now enjoy. It is silly to preach cowardice as you are doing, irresponsible too. But you seem happy in your state of slavery so enjoy it.

And why would anyone be pro-Western? The Europeans have been the most destructive force that this world has ever seen. They plunged the world into two world wars, have destroyed the natural habitats of countless species of animals and are currently responsible for the mess in the Middle East, besides the Israel/Palestine disaster that they instituted.
Lol!!!!!!!!! Other European countries are powerless? We're war against one and see what happens to you
Economy wise they are still far ahead, technology wise they are still far ahead too. All that one you are talking of military power is story because even as individual countries, they cannot be attacked, I have seen their individual military capabilities, and I kid you not, China is no match, and Russia comes just close.

China's economy is a bubble that can be crushed easily, though as the years go by, they get a lil stronger. They were kuxjy Romney did not win in2012 because if he did, he promised to label China a currency manipulator, and any country labelled a currency manipulating country is in hot soup. Even the military capabilities of China is there, but it doesn't match the U.S./France yet.

I an not preaching cowarsixw, i am just telking you as it is. Vut because if your hate for the West, you cannot see it.

Abd that takk of Eurooe being the most destructive force, bla bla bla, that onetoo is story, because first, the Arab countries are the ones responsible for the woesPalestine face today, and their leaders are not smart either e.g.. Saddam Hussein

They fought two world wars, and so?

Didn't Arabs were wars in Africa, castrate slaves, impose their religion and committed ethnic cleansing?

And just to be clear, I am not pro west or anti west, I can care less of what happens to them, but am just saying things the way they are.

So how do you think China will topple the Western Hegemony? So you see that happening soon?
Or you think it is Africa that would do so? A continent full with clannish and short sighted people?

Tell me how you think the "empire" will collapse, as for me, I know that it's only when they press that self destruct button, that their grip would decline.

My dear, to your question am a bit confused, ranching I believe is the best option but come to think of it, most of them are far to undercivilised that I wonder how they can adapt quickly to it. Why I will never support the grazing reserve is that the typical Hausa man will not abide by the rules, they are wicked and heartless and will rather prepare to take break the rules and take laws into their hands. A woman was raped, killed and buried in her farm around me few months ago, and the farm was grazed on. I don't need to ask who would have done that .A very wretched widow living around me, I know her because I took interest in helping her, here in the heart of Enugu, because she could not afford meals for herself and two children, begged these rich men with lands that are not currently in use, to allow her farm and get food pending when they need it, I know what it took this poor old woman to clear that forest just to farm when she got the owners consent, I also know how much she guarded the farm with very high sticks. But do u know that despite the restraint, the farm was broken into in the night and was grazed on until u will not realize it was ever farmed on. I was wounded the day I went to collect fresh corn and alas! There was no farms anymore. I can't start mentioning the way they cut down people Gp tank just for cow to drink water, then ones almost 50k is damaged at one cows drink.
I still wonder how wonderful igbos are that in the midst of all these menace, they are yet to take laws into their hands, and a Hausa man can still move around here with no one harming him. these Will never happen in the north. AT THE SLIGHTEST PROVOCATION IN THE NORTH, plenty of us pay with our lives, I wonder what will happen if Such terrible things as this happens. We all know it's WAR.
If I start to tell you, I can't type them all, what this people are capable of, not things that I get to see on the media but witness it first hand as my job exposes me to their victims everyday you will agree with me that no sane person will want to cohabit with these people.
One of our patients early this month was an igbo man who was cut into pieces with knives, he sells meat and buys cows from them. While they called him to come for cow, he went to a place where they normally assessment cows before they pay if they are OK, and the cows are taken to the slaughter. as he was waiting for the custom, 3 fulani men came from behind and shot him then butchered him with knife and collected all his money and phone. He did not buy any cow again. I pray he survive as his wife is heavily pregnant and we had to transfer him to teaching hospital as we suspected peritoneal effusion . Now killing also your customers, so whom will be left to do business with?

At, this time they are making this demand for grazing, people's life and properties are undoubtedly dangers, so I don't see any sane person considering it. If there were no trouble s before the demand, there may be considerations.

They may have to introduce Ranching,FOR ME, AM JUST DEPRESSED THAT AM A NIGERIAN WHERE SOME PEOPLE HAVE NO VALUE FOR LIFE. I JUST WISH,,,....
Nna Hausa people don't rear cows. Keep them out of this.
Fulami and Hausa are different.
And it is not all Fulani people that are this wicked, even if some of them are, because saying all fulani is a killer is the same as saying all Igbos are criminals.

And did the West develop China and Russia ?

And the West is going down by the way. In the next 50 years, Japan, France, UK, Germany and Italy are loosing their global economic positions.

Africa needs to break ties with the West as she will never get substantial development from them.

Our leaders are ineffective alright but the West has never meant well for Africa. From IMF and world bank are tools of economic subjugation and the ICJ are used to bully African leaders when 1/3 of recent American Presidents should be tried for act of terrorism and aggression.

Africa should go the China way, not become a Western puppet. Work with other countries with tact and smarts like China, Cuba, Indonesia, India and Russia.

We are more likely to gain technological help from these countries than from any Western country.

And Japan did not "surrender" its military or defence to America in exchange of development.

All aggressors of the 2nd world war were technically prohibited from having a substantial army, eg. Germany and Japan.

America occupied Japan and after her defeat like Russia and the West accupied Germany. And America seized the opportunity to build a military base there.

I am sure you're cognisant with the endless rapes by American soldiers of teenage girls and women in Japan?

And the mass protests by the locals for America to remove her troops?

Africa will never rise with the servant-master relationship she currently has with the West.
You have made some points,, but Africa MUST not go the China way. Africa should go the AFRICAN way.
The problems we always have is that we use western economic models which does not help us much.
Developing home grown models is the only way out.

And besides, your talk of World Bank/IMF is not entirely correct too.
IMF imposes the same conditions worldwide.
You cannot borrow money from IMF to pay subsidy or something like that. You have to use the money for productive stuff, and that is why Greece is in hot soup today. Greece is a European country, but go and see the conditions and austerity they have to swallow.
If not that Greece used Euro, they would have been told to devalue as well.
So don't make it look like it's only Africa that they target.
Also look at south Korea too

Germany has a birth rate below replacement levels and is without a military of any note - they rely on the Americans for their military needs who keep bases all over their nation.

It is the Americans who are supreme, not Western nations. Western nations kow-tow to the Americans. When the Americans wanted to go to war in Iraq and the Europeans said that it was wrong did their words count for anything? No. Because no one cares what the Europeans say or think. Likewise with China. The EU routinely complains about Chinese trade practices but their words count for nothing.
So stop saying 'Western nations' have power when they do not. The Americans have a military that gives them power but the EU, Australia and Canada are all firmly in check. They are irrelevant.

To be clear every empire eventually falls and that can only happen if people fight and contest their hegemony. You are clearly a coward, a proud one at that and no society needs characters such as you.
Okay I am back.

First of all, from what you have wrote up there, you have a rudimentary understanding of how the world operates.
With that said, Germany has a military, it's just that they are constrained a bit, to homeland defense only, and this is due to the fallout from world war 2. Japan is in a similar corner.

Second, if America is so supreme, why is there a NATO?
And whether you like it or not, the West still have a strong economic grip on this world too, and are leaders in research and development, science and other fields.
China is copy and paste without innovation, and if you think otherwise, then you must be indeed ignorant.
Why do Chinese students still have to run abroad to study in droves?

Mess with one European country (Western) and see what will become of you and your own country.

You also mentioned something about receding population. As an economist, I'll tell you that yes indeed it is an issue, but it is not a big issue compared to overpopulation with many of them being economic deadweight.
As long as they continue to attract skilled workers from the world over, they would be fine.

And as for you calling me coward, I have no response to that, because you don't even know anything.

True all empires crack one day, But is it Africa that would crack this one? Or is it China huh
What do you want to challenge?

Anyways, I can see you are Anti West, which is not a problem, but thinking that they would be toppled soon is just wishful thinking.

How can they be 'propped' up by the West when the Americans are faced with a gross trade imbalance as a result? American companies are attracted to China because the labor laws there are less stringent than in America and the cost of production is noticeably lower.

And if the Chinese are stealing American technology is that not a sign that the Americans have no control over them? The Chinese openly flout intellectual property regulations, to the chargin of the Americans. American firms consistently cry about the Chinese. One ironic example is that of Segway which was eventually bought up by the company that stole its IP and then outsold it globally.

The Americans have just placed a new tariff of %500 on Chinese steel. Why would they need to do that if China was just a proxy? How has America checkmated China? The Chinese, the Saudis and others own large chunks of the companies listed on the NYSE.

You are clearly clueless. There are other 'Western' nations (i.e. the EU) that have very little power. They can barely secure their own borders from outsiders. Most don't produce anything, which is why China and other Asian nations have amassed so much wealth and they are now laboring under a demographic time bomb of which they have no control over.
Whether you like it or not, western countries still have a strong grip in this world, and will continue to do so for a long time.
If not, why does China have the highest number of lobbyists at capitol hill?
Germany is still waxing strong despite their population isues.
