WebmastersRe: Nairaland's New Background And Layout Style by ujchief(m): 2:00pm On Mar 23, 2013
thelastPope: Yeah, I think the interface was redesigned. But the new design majorly differs in look and feel and some features. I don't think the core code was discarded. A good AJAX application or site is heavily dependent on a well planned CSS structure. You will have to break the components into individual units or the flow and look will be horrible and problematic. The way you develope an AJAX site is different from the way you develope a purely php, python or html site. You have to think of an AJAX project more like an application than just as a website.
English pleasegrin

Lol...and you think no vip member can throw tantrums at you? What will you guys be doing at this your so called vip section? Taking Nescafee and cashew nuts? Such myopic reasoning!!!

slimyem: That's why there's a question mark..
According to my english teacher, there's a big difference between "Chinua Achebe is Dead" and "Is Chinua Achebe dead."

There was nothing wrong leaving the thread at the politics section until its confirmed. #just saying#

No one is above death, he lived a fulfilled life, its actually a glorious departure if he dies at 82.

hurricaneChris: This uselez thread shld be closed till d news is confirmed!

Also the mods who moved this thread to the front page shld be banned.
The mods don't move topics to frontpage. Its the supermods (semid4 and mukina) or the admin (seun).
What they care about is traffic to their site, without waiting for confirmation. They're gradually eroding the prestige of this site.

Same way they flooded the front page with unconfirmed rumours of NYsc increased allowee.

We're gradually turning to www.rumour-land. Datz all!

Really would love 'not' to comment but how is he not desperate for power? How does that explain his doling out of $50k to each attendant of pdp primaries at eagle square?
If that is not a clear sign of desperation, then I wonder what is.

Least I forget, he equally denied the pdp zoning arrangement which he was a signatory to, if these are not signs of desperation, then I wonder what is.

@topic, I think I like his desperation for something he doesn't have a clue of how to run. Reminds me of the first time I set my eyes on a computer. I was so excited to operate it even without knowing how to.

Isn't it the airline their attendants sell meat-pie and 'kpof-kpof' on air? Funny how they will hand you one crusty meat-pie and later come and demand 1k for it.
Nearly got embarrassed when I took it, thinking it was free only for the lady to return later and demanded for N1,000.

Make dem no fold oh! Inasmuch as their airline is 'molue' on air, they are cheap and affordable. Arik and their cut-throat charges will monopolise the airspace soon.

'Mazi' the weird guy still dey! Guess he's on hibernation.

As per the GEJ matter, I won't vote for mediocrity. That's why I said if the opposition won't field a better candidate, I will remain in my house and sip alomo. No time!

My vote was the only one Buhari got in my ward in 2011, I was so proud of it, I still am.

If I didn't vote GEJ then when he was still a reterdeen, why will I vote him now that he has turned to a "scumbag" surrounding himself with products of "same-sex"?

I pray the opposition fields a tested and trusted candidate, else I may just sit at my house and sip alomo.

Cuddlemii: Just to let you know that using multiple ids on the same thread is a capital offence. Except it's authorized by the admins or your previous handle was banned and you had to create another one. It can be detected and if one is caught, the handles would be banned. Just an advise.

As per your question, I will answer you shortly.
Keep quoting irrelevant rules and ignore the core issue. You should try and know copyright rules the way you know nl rules.

Cuddlemii: Sometimes I wonder what the fuss about the FrontPage is?
Advocating for FrontPage shows misplaced priority and irresponsibility(no offence).
You think?
I've seen stories of people getting duped here on nairaland by either a fellow nairalander or someone else. Such stories are taken to frontpage immediately; and seun himself once stated in one of such threads that he does it to inform people that nairaland doesn't condone scamming, also, to discourage potential scammers.

Why won't this plagiarism story be taking to frontpage to educate potential plagiarist that nairaland doesn't condone plagiarism, and by so doing, scare away potential plagiarists??

Frontpage isn't the only thing I was advocating for, your writers wants to know the extent your privacy policy covers there works? If someone copies my work here on nl and I sue him, his defence attorney is going to ask me if my work was originally protected where it was.
This is what seun has refused to answer, thereby, creating a huge doubt on the mind of nairaland writers.
Yes, it is. Until members say otherwise.
How long are you guys going to wait? I read the thread on plagiarism and drop the comment below;

ujchief: Seun has an ugly habit of ignoring stuffs like this, hoping it will die down and things returns to normal with time.

The story of unical sacking 10 of its lecturers due to plagiarism hit front page this morning https://www.nairaland.com/1227071/unical-sacks-4-lecturers-demotes
While his writers here at nairaland are demanding for explanations to his copyright rules and crying fowl of the same plagiarism yet he turns a blind eye and a deaf ear!

He needs to respond to this and clarify issues; else, I suggest that you all, as writers of nairaland section start another thread, informing all nairalanders that henceforth, you guys are on an indefinite strike and no more uploads and stories until seun responds.

He should learn to lend a listening ear when need be.

Even the mod is yet to address the question of copyright and content protection!
There are some issues the 'ogas on top' needs to address.

Is our work here at the literature section protected by copyright laws? I always see an 'all rights reserved' at the bottom of nairaland page so I assumed both nairaland and its contents are protected by some kind of law.

If this is not so, we need a response from seun to know the way forward.
Seun has an ugly habit of ignoring stuffs like this, hoping it will die down and things returns to normal with time.

Like I said in another thread:

ujchief: In another unrelated news; the officials of nairaland has encouraged this oga@top trend by moving all the threads to frontpage. Right now, more than 3 of such topics are on the frontpage and gathering traffic for nairaland.

Please, when it finally becomes old and boring, don't go on a banning feast, banning all those that drop the comment here and their. You are actually encouraging them now.

I knew what we went through in the hands of the garri gang and the 'first to comment' gang before now.
Don't click that 'ban' button when the phrase becomes old and annoying.

Moreover Im yet to see real nigerians begging them for money, anymoney they give is in their favor for votes in un and etc..
You want them to throw the money at your doorsteps before you acknowledge it? International organisations such as UNICEF, WHO and others are being partly sponsored by the US and most of these organisations carry out major projects in Nigeria; the retroviral drug for aids patients, the drugs for tuberculosis patients and others are heavily subsidised by unicef and co.

@topic, the US has every right to meddle with some activities by the federal government as such activities will certainly sabotage some of the efforts they put into this country.

No wise business man will invest his money on an unfriendly environment, and every wise business man does feasibility studies to ascertain the business environment he/she is investing on.

I hope you all are enjoying the fresh air you voted for!

PoliticsRe: APC Rejects INEC's Call For Name Change by ujchief(m): 4:49am On Mar 14, 2013
Quick question: why is the PDP scared of this new alliance? Thought they boasted they were going to rule for 60 years!

This dirty politics they are playing stinks to high heavens; using state resources to frustrate an opposition party.

I think APC shouldn't cave: if they do, then next suggestion from INEC would be a change of logo, then a change of party officials, and finally, a change of presidential aspirants from the party.
