RIVERS STATE - 10000 RIVER STATE STUDENT STUDYING ON SCHOLARSHIP IN THE UK ,US,CANADA ETC
TENS OF THOUSANDS BEING PAID BURSARIES IN LOCAL UNIVERSITIES
Many return to nigeria as skilled professionals able to compete with the best.
Many get high paying jobs at home and abroad .

A lot of poor women folks in villages dotted around akwa ibom
A smart government decides to build 100000 council houses and give it to women above 25 yrs of age
They have the right to buy
They pay a nominal rent in the meantime.

now that is what you call getting your priorities right.

Any clown with money ,blanksheet(wilderness) and docile populace(peace loving people) can give Julius Berger a blank check to go on riot. Even the useless military built the soulless Abuja .
This should be taken as a challenge.
A virtuous wave lifts all boats. The people of akwa ibom deserve a champion .

Questions.

All you you've posted are just a few roads. What about other infrastructures for day to day existence

Where are the water works? There are 15 in lagos.

Where are the schools?

Where are the hospitals and clinics?

Where are the parks and rec centers?

Where are the skill acquisition centers. There are 17 in lagos.

Where are the low cost housing. Fashola built many and there is one currently on the front page.

Where are the orphanages and homes for abused women.

Where are your state institutional infrastructures like the courts, agric institutes.

Show us your water jetties and terminals.

Show us anywhere in Nigeria with visionary projects like lagbus, brt, ten lane expressly with brt and metro rail access.

show us your cultural institutions like freedom square

Maybe I should stop here and allow you to catch up before continuing..

I'm waiting

Why do I feel sorry for you people sef?.
why dont you show pictures? for all to see these things fashola has done like you see pictures and videos of akpabios work? if you cant show pictures then its all propaganda.

Calabar was also Federal Capital and Lagos has ceased being capital for over 2 decades
No SSor SE person will be asked to leave Lagos or Abuja. Reason it is the commonwealth of its people that was used to develop these place. without their oil wealth being applied to the development of these areas it wouldnt be what it is today and thats a fact!
If your grand plan was to ask other nigerians to leave those areas after their common wealth was siphoned to develop it, you have failed woefully. Lagos and Abuja belongs to all nigeria as long as we remain in one country!

EPOMA: Akpabio only concentrates on roads which are easy for him to inflate price and steal money. All the road are costed at 2.7billion naira per kilometre . People should stop all this world class this and world that. Those roads are not upto standards in other third world countries like Singapore . Second to the last picture, the culvert are not levelled at all and are not straight . Road markings by now should be made with white tar and be very straight. I get ashame when we keep using all this words.
I have 2 commissioner friend in akwa IBM, one of the steals upto 300 million from his ministry every month, the other take about 10 million a month. Those guys are just stealing money in akwa IBom . If the people know what akpabio and his boys are up to, they will keep quiet. My take is that he does not do enough for the masses
In Nigeria all public servant steal money and thats a fact. but in akwa ibom upon all the money you accuse them of stealing there is something on ground like the above 30 projects to be commisioned tomorrow and many more under construction.
If every public servant in nigeria stole like akpabio and his cronnies are doing in their state. but with visible project and achievement on ground for all to see. Nigeria will be better for it . and nigerians will be happy with them.
By the way your state officials are also stealig from your state coffers can you show me what they have achieve on ground in your state?

Note that the purpose of these post is not to toot the horn for Akpabio because as a man he has his faults which we can all attest to. but for the job that the people of his state elected him to do,i.e Administrating His state, and delivering the dividend of democracy to its citizens he has performed creditably well.
Putting all sentiment aside , tribal, ethnic, political etc.
watch these transformational videos as a Nigerian and give the forum an unbiased view , whether you agree that he is indeed a transformational governor of his state , and a good resource allocator.

PoliticsRe: Why Can't The Anambra State Government Build The Second River Niger Bridge??? by ujoinme: 8:43pm On Jun 01, 2013
Akwa ibom is building a bridge that is 750 meters long. way longer than the second niger bridge. Anambra and delta can do it all it takes is for its citizens to press their governors to priotize the project. The akwa ibom and lagos suspension bridges are examples that state government can embark on projects of this nature. Its about the ecomomic importance of such projects to the state.
for lagos the suspension bridge besides solving major transportation problem for the state will also be a major source of revenue via the tolls. while for akwa ibom the success of the ibaka deep seaport is predicated upon that bridge as it will link ibaka to rivers state directly via the east west road through esit eket.

Hmmmn now the intrigue is unfolding! I knew there was a hidden dragon behind these issue.
So state exec. and rich nigerians do not register their airplanes in Nigeria! what a loss of revenue to the country, these is just too shameful, yet they pay lip service to national development.
How will favourable climate for aviation development occur in Nigeria when its citizens/government do not trust in their country enough to invest in it?
Imagine Rivers state government registering an aircraft that carries its state Number one citizen bearing the registration licence of the state of UTAH! and generating huge revenue to UTAH,USA.
A STATE IN THE US POPULATED BY MORMONS(CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS), where until a few years ago the church doctrine was that the likes of Amechi and all the citizens of rivers state + all black people were considered subhuman and therefore incapable of being members of their church and by extension the state they occupy.
I weep for Nigeria.

Leadership is still a major issue in this country. When elected official are not patriotic and will willingly debase their country by registering a state owned aircraft as foreign and by extension contributing to the economy of a foreign state while their own economy/people are in poverty, just for the convenience of ease of travel!
If the government is so unpatriotic what then is expected of its citizens.
Yet the person perpertuating this policy is one viewed as a likely vice presidential candidate for Nigeria.
Its time we as Nigerians start to look at policies of politicians when they clamor for positions rather than their ethnicity , and regional affinity if the country must move forward.
Folks Like Amaechi should be very toxic in nigerian political arena not for his opposition to the presidency which i see as his right for free speech and right of association, and independent thought which he is entitled by the constitution, but for his unpatriotic stance to his country.
This same governor was the one that during the NGGTour in rivers state, It was reveled that Some of his teachers complained that Although he built great primary/secondary school in the state, but the management of the schools has been outsourced to Indians. where he pays the Indians more money than nigerian teachers with the same qualifications.
Which country outsources the education of its citizen to foreigners? Any developing nation that seeks advancement must invest in the education of its citizen case in point Singapore with no natural resources but has forged ahead into and advanced economy simply by raising the level of education of its citizen.
While Gov. Ameachi must be commended for his investment in educational infrastructure, he needs to do more in the aspect of training his educational staff up to the standard that will befit the kind of school he has in mind for rivers state. Not outsourcing school mgt. as that model will not be sustainable after his administration. But rather a gradual training of teachers/administrators/technicians sourced from rivers state with teeming population of unemployed graduate who will jump at such opportunity will be a more sustainable model.
Until the above is done, governor amaechi will still be perceived by many as an unpatriotic nigerian citizen and rightly so for his willingness to waste the commonwealth of rivers state on foreigners/improve the economy of nations far advanced than ours that does not require such help from rivers state.
My intent on writing this piece is not to vilify the governor but to offer a constructive critique. I must add that i admire the governor for his independent thought and investment in education and healthcare. I love the kind of schools he is building in RS.

PoliticsProstitutes Turn Gov Amosuns N200 Million Pedestrains Bridge Into A Fast Brothel by ujoinme(op): 6:59pm On Apr 25, 2013
The controversial pedestrian bridge built by the Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun along Ita-Eko road in the State Capital has been turned to another use other than what it was meant for.
Investigations revealed that because of the very light vehicular traffic on the road, people find the pedestrian bridge useless and have abandoned it. For this, we learnt that prostitutes and their willing ‘customers’ use the bridge as a place of sex.
The bridge which was built at a staggering and outrageous amount of 260 million naira is now being littered with several species of condoms and tissue papers.
“The bridge is misapplication of government fund. Go stay by the roadside and you will see that nobody uses the bridge because the traffic on the road is very light. It has now been discovered that the bridge was used to steal Ogun State people’s money”, a resident of Abeokuta told our reporter recently.
The Ita-Eko bridge is an enclosed bridge with doors at both ends with air conditioner blowing cool breeze on users. But after much outcry, the air conditioner was removed and is now serving as sex haven.
When gov. Amosun decided to build the 97 metres pedestrian bridge, there was public outcry over the amount to be spent which the governor put at 260 million naira.
Analysts also compared the cost of the bridge with a 615 metres pedestrian bridge constructed by the previous administration of Otunba Gbenga Daniel located at the State Secretariat named Goodluck Jonathan Walkway which was at a total cost of 35 million naira.
”What is in a bridge that you build for 260 million naira, a 97 metres metro bridge that people are not using. The previous government built a 615 metres walkway of the same quality with just 35 million naira.
“I am even aware that the Federal Government recently awarded the construction of 10 pedestrian bridges in highbrow areas of Abuja at a total cost of 200 million naira. That is 20 million naira per one. It is very sad that Amosun is just stealing Ogun State money with his fraudulent “Mission to Rebuild Ogun State” agenda, our source lamented.

My two cents is that more power generation companies should be built in akwa ibom / gas rich areas considering their vast gas reserves insitu which will not require piping gas over a long distance that increases the cost of power generation.
I just dont get the idea of the federal govt NIPP plant in places with no available gas reserve that now requires another huge investment in running gas pipeline to its location! what a waste.

I would love the above laptop dogs to list the number of states in Nigeria that are considered credit worthy by a reputable bank like standard c of london to the tone of $500 million at 8.5% interest rate? To qualify for such an amount of loan At such A good interest rate means that your finances is in order and the state government should be commended for that.
Having said that,Government all over the world is ran on credit/debt. and All i repeat All states in Nigeria including the federal govt takes out loans for its projects.
The management of these loans is where many govt.fail woefully, I commend the state govt for its fore sight of paying off a toxic loan at and interest rate of over 18% that would have have handicapped the state, with a better loan facility that saves the state an interest rate of over 10% which amount to a lot of money rather than leave it for his successor to sort as many Nigerian government do. Anyone who knows anything about money market should commend the effort on part of the governor rather than the vituperation.
The ideal situation should be to run a government without borrowing or taking loans but there is no such government in the world today.
