Romance / "Ghosting", The Now Trending Way People Break Up by umehmj(m): 6:38pm On Mar 31, 2016
The trendiest way to breakup a relationship in 2016 is by “Ghosting “!

GHOSTING? WHAT'S THAT?

Ghosting is basically completing cutting off a
romantic partner with no explanation. It mainly
applies to people in dating relationships.
Typically, the “ghosts or ghoster” stops answering
all calls, deletes and blocks the “ghosted” from
social media including but not limited to
Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Snapchat &
Instagram.
The New York Times defines “Ghosting” this way
– (the term) has also come to be used as a verb
that refers to ending a romantic relationship by
cutting off all contact and ignoring the former
partner’s attempts to reach out.
Sounds cruel, doesn’t it?

DO PEOPLE REALLY DO THIS?

In 2014, YouGov/Huffington Post poll of 1,000
adults showed that just 11 percent of Americans
had “ghosted” someone.
This week, a new survey released by the dating
site Plenty of Fish revealed that 78 per cent of
single Millennials have been ‘ghosted’ at least
once! That is a major jump which shows this
trend is truly popping.

GHOSTERS SPEAK OUT

Ameena – I was in a very serious relationship
with this guy for 3 months, we met and fell hard
for each other. He invited me to go on holiday
with him and we travelled to the Gambia. In
Nigeria, we hardly have the freedom to do
sleepovers and things like that so this was our
first time “living together”. It was like he was a
different person, he was impatient and got angry
easily and he put a lot of pressure on me to have
sex with him (I wasn’t ready and didn’t), though
on other days, he was ok.
He didn’t even realize he was doing anything
wrong, I just acted like everything was ok.
As soon as he dropped me at home in Abuja, I
completely deleted his number from my phone
and blocked him online. He kept calling and
calling until I eventually blocked his number.

Ini – I dated this girl for a year around the time I
was ready to settle down. She ticked all the
boxes and was wifey material for sure but she
just didn’t excite me. Everything about her was
perfect and Emma is really a nice girl.
I had already hinted marriage and she had met
my sisters. I felt trapped somehow. I couldn’t
bring myself to break up with her so when I
travelled to the East for a work retreat, I just
didn’t call her while there or when I came back…

THE GHOSTED

Tunde – I was talking to this babe for a while.
We went on a few dates and it was very cool. I
thought we were going in the same direction. We
talked everyday and all that. One night, we were
chatting on WhatsApp and I was telling her how
much I was missing her. I promised to send her a
pic to show how much I was missing her…
I sent a pic of something special…and she
immediately blocked me on WhatsApp. I tried
calling her but she never picked up. She didn’t
even bother blocking me on Twitter, she just
carried on her life.

all Ghosters and the Ghosted.

Good morning. booking space to learn more dating tips. i had similar experience years back and i did forgave her and bro, she became faithful to a fault. And yes, just like your woman said, i used her one mistake against her severally (one of my many mistakes while growing up).

chances are she will never go back to infidelity again. now a question for you: are you sure you won't use it against her in the future?

Please am confuse.. ... Lets say every guy has his ideal woman... He also wants a light skinned girl and a skinny girl but then he met a girl who is everything he wants, she's a wife material a keeper except shes chubby and dark skinned will u leave her for that? Guys pls answer

we can't have it all in life bro. physical beauty is important. what is more important is the beauty that comes from within. physical beauty is ephemeral and trust me it fails to count when you get to that stage when you see your wife more like a sister. for me i prefer the dark skinned and plump ones but if i see that inner beauty in your preferred "light skin and skinny woman" i will get on with her. a woman with an outside beauty but decayed on the inside is like a gal coated with honey and like a gold ring in the snout of a pig. what a waste!

big nyash go flat out, firm breast go fall, that pretty face go wrinkle and that fair and smooth skin go fade. but a good woman is always a good woman. she no dey fade cos her beauty is like a spring of waters that ever flows from the innermost part of her soul. may the lord guide you in your decision making.

Education / Opinion: Why Girls Tend To Get Better Grades Than Boys Do by umehmj(m): 5:24pm On Mar 28, 2016
I met Mike when i was preparing for JAMB. We attend same class and we both are science inclined. academically i am good but Mike is better. i can't take it away from him and i could bet then he will bag first class when he finally gets admitted. we both gained admission same year but different schools and through out our stay in school we didn't see each other until yesterday. he had called two days back to tell me he is coming to town and coincidentally i was in town too for Easter. so it is only normal we meet, talk and reminisce about old times. In the course of our conversation we swapped phones to check our pictures and all. as i was scrolling through his pix i saw a snap shot of his degree certificate. our brilliant Mike came out with a second class lower division. WHAAT!!!!! "how did our brilliant Mike end up in the second lower division?" was the question running through my mind all night, through to this morning, until i looked inwards and discovered it is not just Mike, but my own self and almost all the intelligent guys i knew from way back. our performance i must admit was below our pedigree. on another hand the girl that takes the 5th position in my class in my primary school days went ahead to bag a first class in law (we attended same institution ). so i can't help but wonder what went wrong with the guys and how we somehow loose our way. i did some research and observation and came out with this few reasons why girls tend to do better than boys in school.
1. GIRLS PLAN AHEAD, SET ACADEMIC GOALS AND PUT EFFORT INTO ACHIEVING THOSE GOALS

Even from kindergarten age, girls have far better self regulation than the boys. girls generally has the ability to follow correct instructions and perform tasks as required without deviating, unlike the boys who generally have low self regulation and generally erratic.

this self discipline edge for girls carries into secondary school and beyond. the girls, therefore, edge out the boys in over all self discipline and this contributes greatly to their better grades across all subjects. girls are more adept to reading test instructions before proceeding to the questions, paying attention to the teacher rather than daydreaming, choosing homework over TV and persisting on long term assignments despite boredom and frustration. girls are also apt to start their homework earlier in the day than boys and spend almost double the amount of time completing it. only very few boys possess these qualities.

self discipline is a predisposition to plan ahead, set goals and persist in the face of frustration and setbacks, is uniformly considered by social scientists to be an inborn personality trait that is not evenly distributed across all humans. infact, cross cultural studies shows that females tend to be more self disciplined than males. so boys less-developed self discipline leaves them at a disadvantage in school settings where grades heavily weight good organizational skills alongside demonstrations of acquired knowledge.

2. BOYS ARE PERFORMANCE ORIENTED

On the whole, boys approach school work differently. they are more performance oriented. studying for exams taps into their competitive instincts. for many boys, exams are quests and doing well on them is a demonstration of excellence. the implication is that boys tends to value exams and practicals to class work and assignments which they often see as boring and of little consequence. this, again, places the boys at a disadvantage because our school system is structured in a way that homework, class attendance and organizational skills accounts for so much of their grades. In my school days, my colleagues and i would go for contract jobs outside the school. we would spend weeks working and honing our engineering skills but at the expense of quizzes, assignments and class attendance. the ladies of course always make the better grades but most are engineers on paper.

3. ECONOMIC FACTOR

You all will agree with me that more and more boys engage in one or more ventures in order to sustain themselves through school. some are even breadwinners in their family. most girls, on the other hand, are full time students. all they think about is their studies. I'm not saying some ladies don't fend for themselves. some do. but the ratio of boys to girls is way too high. going through school is enough stress already, now imagine combining it with work and family responsibilities. only the married women in school can relate to this. so it is usually very difficult to maintain excellent grades while one is a working student, which most boys are.

4. BOYS FACTOR

Boys will always be boys until they grow into men. they will always want to show their coolness and that they are not nerds. most girls don't have this type of problem. girls usually focus on study while most boys spend most of their time on video games, bars, sports betting centers or engage in sports and social activities. but when a boy grows up, if he finds the right stimulus they can overtake women. it is usually during this growing up process that boys discover their potentials.

finally, there are smart people and stupid people, good students and bad, different winners in different areas. so none of my arguments are set in stone. but as a general statement it is fair to say females are better students all around.

What is wrong with people? Why would you expose someone like this? Who made you judge over how anyone decides to lead his/her life?

This attitude is disgusting, blawdy hypocrites.

Who are the mods that put this on the homepage? NL is now one big joke, nonsense.

are you blaming NL or the guy that released his chat with the lady to blogs? if you must blame, blame the guy and the blogs. nairaland is in no way responsible for exposing the girl. and yes, Nigerians are hypocrites. some of us here crying foul can even do worse than the girl. atleast she will use protection and yes, it's kinda hard to pass HIV when it is at dormant stage. and for those shouting, do you know how many persons you have bedded that has the virus, even though you did it with protection? the ones you did without protection nko? you carry dem go do hiv test before the act? or did you ask the person by mouth? did the person say he/she is negative? how can you tell the person is telling the truth?

you see? one way or another we are all guilty and we shouldn't judge others. it's Easter sha. about to enter kitchen to cook for me. grin
