it is funny when you people mention Chiesa's brilliance like he joined Juve 4 years ago. Maradona and Pele is expected, because they did not sit in the box. Why do you think box 18 strikers last as long as they do? The Sherringhams, Shearers, Inzaghis of this world.....because they contribute to only one phase of the game....short burst of pace and good positional play is what they need. That is not the same for creatives who are also scorers. CR7 might hit goals in Bayern no doubt, they have good wingers.....for City I have my doubts Pep's tactics doesn't really favour a box 18 striker.

And I think Juve might actually do better when CR7 leaves. Like you said they don't score much goals, which is because they functioned best as an effective unit, rather than depending on a particular player for goals. Added to the fact that his coming stifled the growth of players like Dybala.

Same applies to Barca when Messi leaves. They would probably do better. The transition would be difficult, but his exit might be the catalyst to make the younger ones step up. As it is he is expected to do the scoring and provide the goals (basically playing as Xavi+Iniesta+Messi). Which at his age is not sustainable.
