There's a level of desperation in Nigeria. Unlike "Western" nations who's lowest earning citizens get benefits, bailouts, some cheque or whatever from the government, in Nigeria we get nothing.
One can get hit by a car and die. No free ambulance or medicals. People die in emergency wards also 'cos they have no cash to pay. We don't have such rights. Occasionally someone might be helped by the government. But it's not a constitutional thing that people can claim rights to. So many averagely suffer.

For those who have it going well for them, there isn't much of a set formula for their success. Sometimes it's just random luck, family connections, affiliation with the "right" people.

Your dude might just be frustrated with the unpredictability of Nigeria and decide to take his chance on anything outside Nigeria.

Wrong. People throw their waste out on the streets because there is no efficient public trash collection system. In a sane society, every house will have a huge bin in front that is emptied every three or four days by a local govt trash disposal truck.



All the govt has to do is tar all the streets and include sidewalks and underground drainage. Then put a street sweeping system in place. Every where will be spotlessly clean....... See below....... It has NOTHING to do with ''the people''. Once you build the city well, you will have no problems.

This is the sad effect of importation. We have imported so much in this nation that local industires have closed down. As the industries have closed, joblessness has risen. And you must pay for their food from the funds given to you by government to do any small job, roads inclusive.
If people had jobs, inside industry and we were Content with our "Made in Nigeria" brand, nobody will disturb the process of road construction. And the cost will come down significantly.

This is the result of a bad educational system. There used to be a subject called CIVICS taught in secondary schools. It was about Nation building, living with different tribes in peace. Sweeping roads, clearing dustbins...etc.
The removal of that subject from the curriculum has resulted in the anarchy of today.
