FamilyRe: I Had A Fight With My Husband by vanitty: 5:14pm On Aug 27, 2009
Hmmm I remember those days when our daddy use to sit me & my sisters down and tell us

1. Don't be in a hurry to get married, be very patient amd marry a good man
2. If you happen to make a mistake and marry a violent man that communicate with slaps and belts rather than his mouth , carry your load and come back home. I still remember him saying He will rather have a divorced daughter than none at all

I really hope all this people saying if a man hit you, you should look the other way and keep praying to God for him to change are not giving their daughters the same advice

Vanitty I some how dis agree with you hereThis sound some how threaten most men won't compromise to this rather it gives raise to more trouble.
He will feel threatened? What for? Rather he should be ashamed of himself and should be ready to take whatever compromise the wife sees fit.
So what do you expect her to say and do?
Take the abuse with love and play happy families until she is six-feet under and the husband probably in jail for her murder?

One more thing
does he beats you regularly or this was a one-off?
If he beats you regularly biko call the police on him, let them come and cart him off when he get back.

If it was a one- off, when he gets home, sit him down and tell him you will have no other option but to call the police next time he lays his hands on you and please stand by your words if he tries it next time call the authorities.
FamilyRe: I Had A Fight With My Husband by vanitty: 1:08pm On Aug 26, 2009
Hope your baby is okay? You have a child now, your baby should be your highest priority.
As for your husband he probably needs sometime to cool off, he will be back. Try contacting his friends.
Don't make yourself a punching bag for a man that can't communicate but will rather beat you and run off.
FamilyRe: Wrong decision by vanitty: 12:20pm On Aug 26, 2009
You dated her for five years all the while knowing you had no real intention of marrying her?
You will send her packing to where? Have you got kids?
If you feel trapped it is your own doing.
TV/MoviesRe: Depiction Of Nigerians In "District 9" by vanitty: 8:00am On Aug 26, 2009
temmieg17:
They do commit horrible acts in their country and other countries, why pick NIgeria that is although known for corruption but not cannibalism. it is pure defamation of our identity as Nigerians and i think it should be protested.
Protest you said?
why don't you protest about the  you know "real" problems in our country such as electricity issue, police brutality, corruption e.t.c before you protest about some writer's imagination.
Some people with their misplaced sense of priority
TV/MoviesRe: Depiction Of Nigerians In "District 9" by vanitty: 6:51pm On Aug 25, 2009
It is a science-fiction film (one with aliens & such!) not a fact based documentary.
Anyone that believes Nigerians are like that is a very ignorant person and probably not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
PoliticsRe: Lagos “deports” 160 Northern Beggers by vanitty: 1:03am On Aug 25, 2009
What a silly thing to do.
Such only happens in a country where everything goes.
Does it even make any sense? deport a citizen to another part of the country?
Fair enough if loittering is illegal, what he should have done is lock them up . . . .  a case of do the crime serve the time.
Is it even legal? Fashola no try at all in this case.

Have you ever heard of such happenings in civilised countries? I can just imagine the "racist" outcry if for example all the unlucky Nigerians (citizen or not) made redundant or just pure lazy and getting dole from the government were to be deported back to Muritala Mohammed airport from the Uk  (Not that it will happen, you know been a human-right- law-abiding country and all ! )
I pray a day will come where we can all be tolerant of each other in our country.

and to the person  saying something about deportation
You only get deported if you are illegal in a country or you are not a naturalised citizen and commit a very serious offence . . . .  now begging isn't a serious offense is it?

FashionRe: Hair Questions! Post Them Here by vanitty: 11:36am On Aug 15, 2009
Please tell me everything about sisterlocks.
I have fairly long natural hair and I will like to try the sisterlocks
The only style I do with my natual hair at the moment is the bantu knots out, all others are weaves.
Is it true that I will have to cut off all my hair if i get fed up of sisterlocks?

Christianity EtcRe: Popular Bible Quotations For Memorization And Meditation — Deuteronomy 31:8 by vanitty: 4:16pm On Jul 25, 2009
I am glad you have a Bible and you read it righteously everyday. Keep doing so God bless.
The chapter is Psalm 119  and that is exactly what I wrote before.

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."
Matthew 6:5-6

Christianity EtcRe: Christian Subforum by vanitty: 11:27am On Jul 18, 2009
I totally agree, Christians need a new sub-forum as well, before I registered I loved reading posts from Jesoul and the likes,  now the religion forum is all about attacks by some certain set of people. The Christian forum should be about discussing the word of God.

KnowAll:
why he was not proud of the beautiful black skin our lord gave him I dont understand. He makes us black to start feeling inferior, how many whites have you seen want to turn black and actually started doing plastic surgery to make it a reality. I must give it to him that his music was good but that is as far as it goes, I think a lot of blacks all over the world will be slightly releived. The guy was an anomaly and an embarassment to blacks.
I wish people wll speak for themselves. I am black and he sure wasn't an embarassment to me.
