Music/RadioRe: Why Nigerian Music Groups Break-up by vanstanzy(m): 11:05am On Feb 04, 2013
Okija_juju: Hmm...

I will not agree that it is because of greed.

So a Young man walking the streets with a demo CD in his pocket looking for someone to give him or her a shot is spotted by a music promoter who sees talent in this person and then brings him on boad his record label. Because these young artists are too desparate, illiterate and naive, these experienced Promoters give them a rather lopsided contract that can only best be described as a Monkey go work, Baboon go chop contract. Now for a young Artist with next to nothing in his or her pocket, the slight doubt that he/she may never make it in the music business, they are more than happy to jump at any opportuuinity even a bad one. Example remains Mr. Tuface Idibias Saga and the Plantashun Boys.

When Plantashun Boys started out way back in the 90's, I am sure those boys barely made any reasonable amount of money from their first Album which was nothing short of a hit. These boys have told stories of how they barely were able to feed back then.

The Duo of Keke and D1 spotted the main talent in the group, saw that he was also very naive and exploited it. They made Tuface an offer that as at that period in his life must have looked like heaven & earth ona platter. All he had to do was leave his group and go solo, then sign his life away to Kennis Music. He jumped at the opportunity and voila!!! the Tuface we all know today was born. He dropped the 'GRASS TO GRACE' album which as far as I am concerned was a multi-platinum selling album, won a shiitload of awards both home and abroad and his profile grew. As his profile grew, so did his knowledge of the inner workings of the music industry and that was when the scale fell off his eyes that he had signed away his life to Kennis Music. We all remember the fight to break free from that bond. Seeing where Tuface is today in his career, will you still call his move one borne out of greed or WISDOM?!

I say wisdom. REASON: If Tuface were still with his band (Plantshun Boys), he would not have been the big artist that he is today, If Tuface hadnt taken up that contract with Kennis Music, he would not have been exposed to a higher level of the music industry. If Tuface hadnt left Kennis Music, he would still have been a slave working and enriching his greedy record label. Its a win-win situation.

I hope that Wizkids move isnt premature.. However, if he stays under a record label that he isnt happy with, it would affect his music creativity, when that is affected, he would lose fans, losing fans means that he isnt bringing money into his record label anymore and then they will dump him.. By then, it would be too late for him. EME music has given him a launch pad, its time to build on the momentum he has gained.

In the end, this is all business, not personal..
For a moment, i tot the thing standing next to Blackface was a scare-crow, grin grin grin grin grin i had to look closer and read other peoples comment to be guided aright. grin grin See wetin poverty and hunger dey do grin grin GOD PUNISH SATAN! I REBUKE POVERTY FROM UR LIFE, AMEN! grin grin grin

CrimeWe “bribe” Police Officers With S*X – Prostitutes by vanstanzy(op): 3:25pm On Feb 03, 2013
The brothel, which is just a name to cover up the s*x-for-money business that takes place in the old one-storey building, parades pretty women between 25 and 35 years old who said they offer s*x and money to policemen so that they could remain in the world’s oldest profession. The brothel, it was learnt, has been in existence for several years without any disturbance from its neighbouring Railway Police divisional headquarters as well as two churches, one located directly behind it and the other located two houses away from it.
Parading 19 ladies of different sizes and shapes, some of the prostitutes confessed that the rapport between them and policemen force has remained very cordial. “I’ve been doing ashawo (prostitution) business here for over three years now and I can tell you as a customer not to fear because the police will never come here to harass anybody. They know what we do here and also know how we operate. In fact, they are our best friends here,” one of the commercial s*x workers, a Benin girl who refused to mention her name, said.
Another prostitute in the brothel told said that to keep the relationship between the brothel and the police “in good shape”, they cough out N3,000 monthly to bribe law enforcement agents. “Whenever you see the police here, it is either they are here to drink or to collect their “settlement” or even to have a feel of us which we willingly give to them free of charge as we have agreed among ourselves.”

While confirming what her colleagues had said earlier, another commercial s*x worker in the brothel explained that apart from visiting at the end of every month to collect their bribe, the police officers had become more of a shield for them. “Whenever them come here, we dey give them do for free except say them no wan do. We know say na one of the ways to keep the relationship be that. If we no allow them and them come vex, you know say business no go move again be that,” she said in pidgin English. She confirmed that these “friends” of theirs come from the different police stations around them.

vislabraye: Whatever Nigeria does with her money is not AFCON's business. This is not to support corruption.
Does the competition worth that amount?
Nigeria is a country that supposedly practices democracy, right? So the answer i have for u goes like this; Democracy is government of the people, by the people, and for the people. Isn't our govt supposed to protect the interest of its citizens by purchasing the AFCON viewing right for her citizens? If military dictators can do this, then why not a democratic govt? This govt isn't telling us the truth.
