If people go ahead and vote for this fraud again in lagos then I'd know something is really wrong

Osu losers everywhere.. Tinubu is their headache
This is not about tribalism. Another Yoruba man, will still rule Lagos at least until tribalism subsides in Nigeria, so what is your headache?

Are you saying that anyone, even Yorubas against Tinubu are "osus"?

There are very brilliant Yoruba men out there who can transform Lagos will all that revenue they are getting. One of my Yoruba friends that went to King's College Lagos, got scholarship to MIT after getting perfect score in his SATs.

It doesn't have to always be tinubu bro. Same goes for Delta that is lacking in development with people like ibori and other governors that are misappropriating HUGE funds.

Truth is Lagos is an ATM for some group of persons. That’s just the way it is. Nothing lasts for ever, whatever is hidden today will be revealed in the future
Whether it's PDP, AAC, YPP, whatever or whoever it is, someone else needs to expose the sleaze going on under APC in Lagos.

Paying 12 billion a year for an 11km road.

The money is used to repay the ‘company’ that renovated and expanded the Lekki-Epe expresway, according to Lagos state government. Remember there was PPP arrangement. But details are opaque and sketchy.
Very sketchy bro and remember that Fashola was said to have bought the rights to that concession

https://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2013/08/28/lekki-concession-lagos-explains-rights-buy-back/

Thanks of NextGovernor for correcting the mathematical error, we now know they make about 1 billion per month on that road. So in one year they'd make 12 billion. I wonder just how much that road in itself cost to build, that we would be paying them 12 billion a year.

That road from the toll plaza at lekki phase 1 to chevron drive is just 11 km, which is just about 7 miles. Think about it bro, we are PAYING 1 BILLION NAIRA A YEAR FOR A 7 MILE STRETCH OF ROAD.

Another illegality here is that fact that the road was in existence before and all of a sudden they added extra lanes and went ahead to inflict lifelong pains on citizens. You never see people advocating the removal of the toll at the lekki-ikoyi link bridge, cause that bridge never existed before and was created as a shortcut for people between lekki and ikoyi. Of course resident won't mind paying for that, but why would they pay for a road that has been there they were children, then one day one man just puts a gate there.

You made an error. Add a zero at the end because you went from N40000 to N4000
Yeah my bad!

This makes it way way worse. To think that they make more than a billion naira per month off that tiny stretch of road is craaaaaaaaaazy
PoliticsRe: Where Does The Revenue From Lagos Toll Gate Go??? by VaselineCrew(op): 7:26am On Mar 02, 2019
NextGovernor:
You are wrong in your calculation man. The actually revenue gotten from that place from your calculation should be 1,224,000,000 (1.224 billion) daily not 122.4million.

From your question, it goes into the acclaimed Saint Tinubu's pocket. Where do you think he got those money stock in bullion van entering his house?

You will never hear anything but if it is a PDP politician the whole media must have be full..
GOD OF MERCY!!

Men I didn't even realize it was that much and I had made a mistake, chai Imagine the amount of money shocked shocked

I'm telling you, a real big blue whale

We shouldn't even be paying toll, but now that we are, they can't even maintain the road with all that huge money collected every month?

Shame!
PoliticsWhere Does The Revenue From Lagos Toll Gate Go??? by VaselineCrew(op):
Have you driven past the lekki-epe toll gate recentlyhuh

If you have then you must have noticed that the roads are wearing fast, the lane markers have mostly washed away, the street lights don't work at night in most sections between phase 1 and Chevron.

So what exactly are Lagosians paying for? Why pay N200/N250 everytime one passes that road?

Since it's obvious that the money made from that road isn't used to keep the road in tip-top shape, then what is the money used for?

If there are 20 stalls and 10 cars pass per minute, each paying N200 then every minute the toll gate makes:

20 x 10 x N200 = N40,000

So for every hour we multiply this number by 60, so every hour the toll gate makes:

**edited, thanks to NextGovernor
N40,000 x 60 = N2,400,000

Multiply this number by 17 hours to be conservative instead of 24 hours, then every day the toll gate makes:

N2,400,000 x 17 = N40,800,000

Multiply this number by 30 days and we get the money made from the toll gate each month:

N40,800,000 x 30 = N1,224,000,000

Now you tell me if N1,224,000,000 every month is not enough for a sincere government to maintain that road and make sure that potholes are fixed, the street lights all work and the lane markings are always re-painted.

When they asked Buhari about almajiri, he said

"Even if the Federal government has extra money, they would not take it and build classrooms, equip them, employ qualified teachers, while it's the duty of the local governments. If the local governments are not given the money from allocation, then it's up to them to scream loudly enough for Nigerians to hear them"

PoliticsIt's 2019 And Nairaland Is Already Projecting A 2023 President? by VaselineCrew(op): 12:54pm On Mar 01, 2019
I was shocked to see on the front page of this site, a projection for the 2023 presidency!

We just finished a freaking election, shouldn't the news be about the victory, defeat, cabinets, manifestos and so on? Shouldn't it be time to start holding the Buhari government accountable again on a day to day basis.

Do Nigerians just live for elections, or do they truely want a better Nigeria? How can you be fixated on 2023 elections which is 4 years away, when the country has a myriad of problems that need to be tackled right NOW.

This is highly disappointing coming from the moderators of Nairaland. What's next? A post hitting the front page talking about 2027 presidencyhuh

Come on guys, you can do better.
