How is it possible that a free expressway would be miles better than a tolled one? I am referring to the comparison between the third mainland bridge and Lekki-Epe Expressway. On the third mainland bridge, you have clearly marked lanes, functioning street lights and no potholes. Yet on Lekki-Epe, where users pay upwards of N200 per single pass, the road is full of potholes. On some stretches, the third lane to the right has been totally condemned by potholes making the lane unusable. Then all the lanes that were shining when new have all washed away. I remember when Fashola at least repainted the lanes, but go there now, no lanes, with cars just driving in zig-zag patterns. Then of course you have the issue of no street lights when driving at night. So many cars have run into gigantic potholes on that road at night with speed, messing up their cars. I really do wonder how a road that generates billions can be so dilapidated. Can’t they just use ordinary 10 million from this months toll money to fix the potholes and employ cheap labor to repaint the lanes? Can’t they take another 5 million to ensure the street lights are always on? It just seems like the whole money is being swallowed. It doesn’t make any sense at all.

As proof look at how many pages a 2023 Yoruba presidency thread has in the pic below. 24 pages and counting, but if it’s an intellectual topic on ways to make Nigeria better, you’d be lucky to get up to 2 pages, sigh. Nobody cares about development today, just which tribe will rule every 4 years. As soon as they are done with the election of 2023, they will start talking about 2027, while still in 2023. Yet TODAY, you have no electricity, no good roads, insecurity, lawlessness... but yes, let’s wait for 2023
|
I thought we are still in 2019. I must have overslept. |
jidemoh:This same argument always, as if ISIS can drive Toyota hilux in the middle of the streets of some American city, waving their ISIS flag and sacking police stations along the way. Even in GTA V, you do anyhow and you already have a five star wanted rating, with the choppers coming for ur-asss, mtcheew. |
Lagos that is full of open gutters? In fact the whole Nigeria is full of open gutters. Then they will now be wondering why the drainages get blocked. Brah! It’s not rocket science, if you have open drainages, litter will fall in and clog those drainages and the place will flood with any small rain. Classless Nigerian leaders. They just dig hole by the side of the road and call it drainage. |
The same way they closed the border to rice to encourage local production, why can’t the government shut down use of Generators in all its agencies to encourage mains electricity production? Abi, can’t they make the same sacrifices they require of their citizens? |
ThisIsOutlaw:It is definitely good to have and a must in some case, like driving as you said. The issue here is, they want to make it a must at all times. |
Bluffly:That’s fine and I admire the fact that you are always well prepared, with your ID on hand. However, you already stated in your response that it’s advisable and not mandated and that’s were the crux of the matter lies. You can’t be harassed in a developed democracy for just walking around without ID, but here in our underdeveloped democracy, they want to mandate it, hence opening the door to further harassment of innocent civilians by Nigerian authorities. People are already complaining about sars, do we really need to add military complaints on top of that? Imagine a young chap going to his nearby store by 7pm to quickly get some fruits, holding only cash and walking. Then he runs into some overzealous military men that DEMAND for his ID at random. Why should such a guy be required to have an ID in that scenario? There are spheres of society where IDs are mandated without interfering with personal freedoms, like for transportation. You are required to have a valid drivers licence to operate a motor vehicle. You are required to have a passport to board an international bound airplane... This does not translate to the personal lives of citizens, as being required to present an ID at all times, even when one has done nothing wrong and isn’t operating a vehicle, or under any institution that requires it, is an infringement on ones personal freedoms. |
ThisIsOutlaw:So you are agreeing with the guy you quoted that you need to have ID at all times by law abroad? |
Commentor:What corrupt officer will stop a pedestrian walking and start demanding for ID card? In America? Bros haba na! If you did something wrong, then yes, a police office will need to identify you to book you, but please I don’t believe there is a law in Atlanta that states one must carry ID at all times, haba. |
zizi4real:Wait ooo, which abroad are you made to carry ID card at all times? |
Check it for yourself. Every thread in the politics section, with at least 2 pages, has some form of these: Afonja ipob children of hate ... Doubt me, then check it out for yourself. What does this say about Nairaland or/and Nigeria? |
So what if the Keke guy was wrong? If I become Governor, I’ll take Law and Order very seriously. Then again, the Lasma official may be at fault too. All in all, Nigeria needs Law and Order ASAP. There is too much chaos once you step out of your house: Okada riders using one way. People not obeying traffic lights. People turning 3 lane roads to 6 lanes. People walking on the roads at will. People not staying in one lane on roads with proper lane markings. Pay these police and lasma guys a minimum wage of 150k per month, to boost their moral and reduce corruption. Police need to run monthly or quarterly pull over drills. Get rid of police cars parked aimlessly at junctions and turn them from stationary vehicles to PATROL vehicles. Get rid of random police checkpoints which serve absolutely no purpose. Sigh, my Nigeria, we can have Law and Order. We can set an example for the BLACK RACE if we support new and great leaders, not the ones we mostly have now. |
TRYGO:Thanks again for your detailed response. I didn’t tell him to open and wash the engine cause I do not want anyone messing with my engine, since I’ve never opened it before to do anything to it. I have added flush before but I said I wouldn’t do it again after I read some suggestions that if you flush you car, you may be unlucky to have some of the sludge clog some parts of the engine. I mean not everyone who flushes will be unlucky, but I heard a few maybe unlucky and I don’t want to be the unlucky one. Why can’t I open up the sump again? What damage do you think I can cause my doing this? I just figured that if I change my oil every two months, I can drop the sump and clean it, since some sludge would have fallen down from the engine. Please tell me why dropping the sump is a bad idea. |
GAZZUZZ:Haba gazzuzz, why will you want to swear for me na? My Engine will survive 10 more years in Jesus name, but by then I would be riding in a newer car in Jesus mighty name, amen!!!!! |
For anyone who cares to know, the problem was sludge that had clogged up the oil pump screen. So we had to drop the oil sump and clear sludge from there, then we cleared the sludge from the screen as well. Coupled everything back, drove a bit and did the process all over again. Then we added some new oil. I change my oil every 6 to 7 months with Total quartz 20w 50, but I guess the frequency is too low with such a heavy oil. I am really scared of flushing my engine, as I heard the sludge could clog up some narrow passage ways in there. So I’m going to increase the frequency of my oil changes to every 2 months with the same oil and then drop the oil sump to clean the oil pump screen every 3 months, I think that would be a safer way to get rid of the excess sludge in the engine. Thanks for all your inputs and have a blessed day. |
TRYGO:Yo, this was the problem, sludge. However, I wonder why the knocking just started as soon as the mechanic returned the car to me after fixing the oil seal. |
EgunMogaji2:Thanks for the assistance bro |
jodeci:The sound did not stop on it’s own ooo |
A mechanic helpled me fox an oil seal between the engine and transmission. The engine had to be removed to do this job. Now it sounds like the car has a knocking grinding sound. Could it be cause of the work he did or unrelated? Please help me, posting pics of the job below.

But white people can be organized sha See how the hay is bunched or rolled up neatly. I’m sure if most people here saw trucks conveying hay neatly by NG police, they won’t evem complain. Is there something in the DNA of white people that makes them more organized even in little things? Is there something in the DNA or blacks that gives us a very nonchalant attitude to almost everything? |
How can a country not in shambles, be struggling with such a ragtag group? Please don’t mention America struggling in Afghanistan, cause that is not their country. You mean to tell me that Boko Haram can just be attacking American soldiers baraks right in America? That would be highly impossible. So why are the military letting these guys come out so brazenly to sack their convoys and barracks? |
I was hoping to read from mechanics/engineers on the possible cause. We can all learn from this if we know why/how it happened |
“Condisting”?? Mods haba na! |
Wait, what? You are celebrating a Governors 100 days in office? What have we not seen in this country? My goodness!! |
Good gesture! However, I wonder if these cars and bikes also come with much needed technology to fight crime. For instance, is there equipment needed to verify a drivers license? Thus identifying a driver? Any radios for central communication and deployment, of will they rely on cell phones? Good job sha at the end of the day, but we also need to improve tech-wise to aid in enforcing law and order. |
justtoodark:Is this the best you can do regarding issues raised? |
justtoodark:Don’t think it’s just about having balls yo! I believe it’s about doing what you can for your people to prosper, including selfless things like stepping down. People think he has balls because he chased away white farmers, but why chase away white farmers and the economic prosperity that comes with having such skilled hands and equipment? It’s like trump chasing away all Nigerian doctors that are so very specialized, or all Asian/Indian doctors because of white supremacy. It just won’t make economic sense. |
justtoodark:What is there to get? Suffering and smiling ba? |
justtoodark:Men you guys are just so funny. Show which world the middle finger? Why do Africans, Nigerians especially have such delusions of grandeur? What exactly does the world have to be jealous of you for? Is it Electricity? Military might? Economy? What? Support intellectual leaders, you guys won’t, it’s only “which tribe will rule next election” that you guys know. |
Someone that turned his country to trash and refused to step down. All these dictators that want or wanted to be life presidents. Did God make the country just for you, abi are you a King or something? If he was even doing well like how China is doing, it would have been understandable, but alas, his citizens still had to use millions of their currency just to buy bread.
