Properties / Re: How Can I Avoid Being Scammed, I'm About To Buy A House by Viciyke(m): 1:47pm On Aug 16, 2023
Consult a property/real estate lawyer that will conduct due diligent search for you. Also make sure that an indemnity clause is or must be added to the agreement before signing. Don't rush and pay, observe the agent and ask any question u feel u need to ask, if the property is registered, ur lawyer will visit the state land registry for proper verification.
Brainbox0806:
Good day to you all, I'm on the verge of buying a house for a close family, I bare the responsibility of making payment and verifying that the property is genuine because I'm the one that introduced him to the agent.

I'm trying to be careful because of some clauses that involves the originality of the seller. Mr. A built the house from the ground, lived in it for like seven months then relocated abroad, he appointed a representative ( I think his brother) to sell the property, Mr. B ( also from abroad ) contacted a company to buy the property on his behalf, the property was inspected buy consultant C ( A company ), payment was made and the house was taken over by consultant C but Mr B never occupied the said house since Inception of the purchase, after 15 months of procurement Mr B decided to sell the property through same consultant C.

The neighbour can't ascertain the relationship between Mr A and consultant C , but Mr A has been informed by a neighbour about the presence of consultant C in the house and he confirmed that the house has been sold off . Consultant C do visit the house periodically but the house remains under lock.

The problem now is that consultant C want me to pay directly to him, refusing to give me Mr B. phone number for verification, sighting that the consent letter given to him by Mr B is enough proof. I suspect he's hiding the real price from the owner but I don't want to go ahead without verifying the identity of Mr B ( the current seller). The intending buyer is so in love with the house and cant wait to make payment but I'm hellbent of hearing from Mr B

Kindly advise.

My advice to you is to complete the job, collect your money and report the person and the site to the appropriate authority without his knowledge, that way the site will be under watch and the so called scammer will be caught red handed in the act. If you decline to do the job, the scammer will only look for another designer to do his job and still scam innocent people so do us all a favour by helping to take one criminal off the street.

Religion / Pilgrimage Scam At Its Higest Level In Rivers State by Viciyke(m): 3:55pm On May 26, 2015
I will appreciate impatient readers to read through before commenting because this is what is intending pilgrims are going through right now in Rives State.

In 2013, the Rivers State Government announced that names of intending pilgrims to be sponsored have been published at the Rivers State Christian Pilgrim Welfare Board, and that those who were successful should proceed and buy the form for N12,000 (Twelve Thousand Naira). The intending pilgrims in their enthusiasm rushed and bought the form whilst looking forward to going to the Holy Land against the initial N500 (Five Hundred Naira) sold by previous administration. As if that was not enough they were made to go through rigorous and stressful interview and medical text which they paid N600 (Six Hundred Naira) and N1500 (One Thousand Five Hundred Naira) respectively for the medical, screening announcement was also made that those who intended to sponsor themselves should go to the board and pay undisclosed fee which about 300 persons did. Also those without international passports were asked to get it, those who went for express passports spent as much as N25,000 to N30,000.00 while those who went through normal process spent about N15,000.00 all in the hope of traveling to the Holy Land. They were all given the hope that airlift will begin December of 2013. The said December 2013 came and passed and it was rumoured and was also speculated that they will begin airlifting Easter of 2014, but when that said date came and passed, the intending pilgrims received a text from the Sole Administrator, Rev Monsignor John Wambu to come for a second interview which was later discovered that he intends to screen out pregnant women and those he believed may have died, as at the time of the said interview, another speculation came up that they will airlift 23rd of December of 2014. The most worrisome issue is that their muslim counterpart had already embarked on their hajj to mecca (The Rivers State Government also sponsored it) while the Christian pilgrimage is being postponed always. The next story that came on board was that his Excellency Governor Chibuike Rotimi Ameachi is yet to release money for the trip. This so demoralized all intending pilgrim after more than one year expectation as no news or words were sent across to the intending pilgrim.

Those on the intending pilgrim from the Reverend Fathers Village were so angry that they even faced him with open confrontation, accusing him of using the money to buy his flirts of cars, of which he turned deaf ear. Some went to the Pilgrims Board to question the workers who claims they have no information that everyone should channel their questions to the Reverend Father who intentionally keeps off the board that now looks like a grave yard.

Recently it was discovered by an insider that the Reverend father has dropped all intending pilgrims nominated by all the APC members that have defected to PDP especially the Deputy Governor Engr Tele Ikuru, it was also gathered that the Governor had released the sum of N900,000,000.00 (Nine Hundred Million Naira) to the Reverend Father who had traveled several times to Israel claiming he was going to prepare Visa and make other traveling arrangement, it was later gathered that this was all a delaying tactics on the part of the Reverend Father who wants the new Government to take over and he will then pretend to airlift the intending pilgrim knowing that he will be out and looking for any slightest mistake to abandon the airlifting blaming the Incoming Wike’s administration. Presently the Reverend Father is not willing to give any definite answer to all intending pilgrims, of recent he was quoted telling an intending pilgrim that “this is a privilege not a right, the Governor can do whatever he likes, so is he as the Sole Administrator”. He had even collected additional money from private sponsored persons, after telling them it is as a result of the increase in dollar. All intending pilgrim are now in the dark as they do not know what or who to believe anymore. This administration has barely two days to go. What are we making of the action of a man who proclaims Gods Gospel. A scam or what

Mods, i will appreciate if this will be forwarded to front page viewing so that those concerned may act on it before its too late. Thanks.

Religion / Which Is Better, Praying Longer Or Shorter Prayer? by Viciyke(m): 11:44am On Jan 09, 2015
Am the kind of person who says my prayer as little as 5mins or even less, my wife on the other hand can pray for an hour or more. Sometimes we argue over the length of time we pray. I believe that prayer is about intentions and sincerity to God not the length of time u spend praying. Sum1 can pray for a whole day witout being sincere and God will not answer him while sum1 can pray for 5mins and get answered. Nairalanders what length of time is best for prayers.

Family / Does Your Elder Once Assist You In Your Education? by Viciyke(m): 8:05pm On Jul 19, 2013
Am asking this question based on the fact that most of us who are younger in the family, our elder once are the people responsible for our upkeep and education.

For me the story is very different, am d last child in a family of nine and you won't believe it that i trained myself through the university without getting a kobo from my elder once. You may be wondering you but the funny truth is that I hate begging 4 money rather i wud expect my elder once 2 ask me if i need money but they never asked. I hustle 4 myself and succeeded in training myself through my university education.

Now sum of you may be wondering why i created this topic, well d reason is this. A few weeks back i happen 2 stumble upon one of my elder brothers discussing with a friend of his and boasting that he has spent all his money on his younger brother's education (referring 2 me) and i was stunned and this my brother is a vry stingy guy dat even borrows money from me and he is my senior with about 12yrs and he works in a reputable firm with a salary in excess of about 400k to 500k. The kind of luk i gave 2 him when he made that comment made him 2 feel vry embarrassed.

Am proud i took care of myslf cos dats d way my mum brought me up. So to all d younger siblings in the family, who took care of you?

Thanks.

Business / Do You Take Threats Seriously? by Viciyke(m): 8:03pm On Feb 02, 2013
A few days back, someone threatened me seriously at my work place. I run a cybercafe and while i was busy doing my normal business i discovered that a customer was busy downloading and watching porn movies without any care of decency in the world, i walked up to him, told him that we don't allow customers to either watch or open such sites in the cafe because its indecent and besides most porn sites carries very deadly virus.

This guy ignored me and when i insisted, he only said if am bothered i should shut down the sites myself which i willingly obliged to by rebooting the entire system.

This guy later walked up 2 me that i should refund him his money that since i don't want him 2 watch porn sites that he has no business in the cafe so i should refund all the money he has already spent. I refused and the next thing he dead was to threaten me that he is going 2 deal with me ruthlessly that i should watch out and c the kind of person that he is. I ignored him but he kept on threatening in the full glare of other customers. After all his threats, he left.

I don't really take threats seriously cos i have my own ways of taking care of myself but am just curious 2 know hw other people handle threats.

Do they go to the police 2 lay a formal complaint?
Do they hire body guards or personal security?
Do they attack the person threatening them first so as to avert the threats?

Just my thinking
Do you take threats seriously?
Health / Is There A Cure For Excess Sweating? by Viciyke(m): 1:59pm On Jan 26, 2013
My hubby complains that i sweat too much which is true. My cloths get soaked whenever i do little exercise or work. worst case scenario is when am driving without AC and stuck in traffic on a vry hot day, both my cloths and the car seats gets soaked. funny enuf if i turn on d AC, i begin to feel cold from my own sweat. Imagine when there is power failure during the hot Nigeria wheather at night, i soak my bed wit sweat because of the heat, dis has made me on many occasion to sleep on d bear floor.

I can't help it cos dats d way i was born. Am lucky inspite of d fact dat i sweat a lot i don't have body odour cos am d type of guy dats pays careful attention 2 my hygiene. I have lots of roll on, body spray, perfumes etc.

Due to my sweating sickness (dats wat i call it) i no longer wear suits and or thick clothing's even during d raining season, i rather wear T shirts and light clothing's. If am doing any manual labour, u need 2 c d way am sweating, as a result of this am forced at times 2 wear just my boxers 2 do d work depending on where am doing the work.

My sweating sickness has made me to hardly sleep outside my home cos i don't wan 2 embarrass myslf in another persons house. One funny fact abt dis whole sweating issues is dat i don't like using the Air Conditioner except during vry hot wheathers. My hubby finds dis vry strange, a guy dat sweats a lot but don't like Air Conditioner, she tinks its weird and to be honest wit myslf i think it is.

Nairalanders and all medical professionals in the house, is there a cure for sweating?

Useful answers and suggestions are welcomed. Thanks

Family / How Much Do You Spend Daily? by Viciyke(m): 8:18pm On Oct 12, 2012
I was having a discussion with my friend about how much i spend daily. I told him dat i don't spend much based on daily expenses dat i spend at least N1,500 daily n he said its 2 much so i decided 2 break it down with him.

1. Transport 2 n fro from work/sch = N500
2. Recharge Cards daily = N400 mtn
3. Feeding i eat outside at least once = N350
4. Occasional Soft drinks and snacks = N250

Note this summary does not include shopping and wkend nite outs with my homies or dues/donations u pay. Its jus expenses i think i can't do without daily. Also dis calculation is jus for a single young man like man, not for married guys wit kids but married folks are also allowed 2 comment.

Am thinking is it 2 much? What do u guys think and What is your own average expenses daily. For those who owns car, i think d cost of fuel should b included cos its d same thing as transportation.

Note dat your normal cooking money shud not be included since we don't cook evryday.

I can't believe the kind of response am reading from Nigerians/Nairalanders.

1. Call for a Sovereign National Conference 2 know what the People want.
2. A total overhauling of EFCC, ICPC, our entire security outfit putting in place neutral and credit worthy people to fight corruptions.
3. Building a new refinery in all the geo political zones of the country for effective distribution of the product.
4. Strengthen the States (i.e. each State should be autonomous) to handle their own affairs while the Centre only comes when the need is necessary, that way we can have a state and independent police force.
5. We have vase rivers all over the country and a vase reserve of natural gas underground. These natural resources will be used to build power stations 4 constant electricity. Besides this two other means of power generation will also be included to accommodate the entire federation.
6. Make capital punishment compulsory for all public office holders as far as it concerns corruption.
7. If non of the above works, break up the country into four new countries (The Yoruba's one country, The Igbo's one country, The entire North, one Country and the entire Niger Delta One country) dats my call.
Gaming / Re: Is Video Game Business Illegal In Nigeria? by Viciyke(m): 8:56pm On Sep 08, 2011
Presently am operating a Games Business in Port Harcourt. Its a vry lucrative business but u need 2 apply strict rules n my rules are:
1) No kids during school hours Mon - Fri 8am - 2pm
2) No school uniforms
3) No night games (i close between the hours of 6pm - 6:30) don't want disgruntled parents looking for their kids.
4) The most important, NO GAMBLING. (This has resulted in lots of fight in my game hall so i don't joke about it)

I have police contact so i even invite the police wen i c gamblers in my game hall n d police arrest dem cos they are d real trouble makers and touts.

About Police interference, its d way u work with dem. Wat i did was 2 make d police aware of d place and since am frnds with sum of dem, i arrange dem mobilization once in a while 2 keep dem off my back. With such arrangements, once i call d police dat i av trouble makers in my game hall, they arrive faster than wen u call dem dat an robbery operations is going on. They hardly visit my game hall except by my fone call cos d place is always calm due to my control.

As for the parents, my rules av taken care of lots of their complains so its jus few stubborn once who are looking for sum1 to vent their anger, annoyance and jealousy on dat comes around 2 make trouble but generally i hardly c dem.

And finally, make a disclaimer n paste it boldly 4 evry1 to c and don't hesitate 2 implement d rules wen d need arises cos if u implement dem, their is no need 4 d police cos u won't get anybodies attention (police or parents)

Crime / How Many Times Were You The Victim Of A Crime? by Viciyke(m): 8:14pm On Jul 01, 2011
Back in 2006, some burglars broke into my home through d roof, entered my bathroom and gained direct entrance into my room. They made away with practical evrytin moveable in the room, my cloths, shoes, money, laptop, wristwatches, some recharge cards i was selling etc. They only left my bed, television n the stand 2 pairs of old suit n one old booth i call shoe.

Jus last 2 months ago, May 2011, thieves visited my home again dis time in another location where av moved 2 but i was more lucky this time around cos they couldn't break d iron bar protectors installed in d windows and i was living at the bottom floor which is a decked building so they can't get in thru d roof, but they made away with all my cloths i just washed n spread outside and used stick 2 pick some stuffs from my room thru d window.

In all my life av witnessed only this two incidents of crime committed against me n wen i tell people they say am vry lucky especially in a place like Nigeria. Some said they've encountered armed robbers, burglers, fraudstars, petty thieves etc.

How true is dis, ur experiences is most welcomed.

Politics / Are U Voting For Party Or Individual? by Viciyke(m): 5:37pm On Mar 31, 2011
Am jus wondering if people still vote for political parties or for the individual? This years election has seen some of the heavy weights from PDP in particular left the party and join other parties including the smaller ones thereby dragging their supporters along with them.

Take Rivers State 4 example where d three key candidates used 2 b in PDP but now they are in different parties (PDP, ACN and APGA) n personally am voting 4 one of dem based on his individual person not because of his party. If u check at the National levels too, u will discover dat many PDP supporters mostly in the North has shifted their weight 2 vote 4 Buhari.

Wats ur opinion on this?
