sesay: Thank you so much Vicky, are you saying they would not acknowledge receipt of my Credential and transcript until they receive my license verification? cos, NMCN is yet to send my license verification to them. Though I've completed the process just for them to send, I was told is going to take 6weeks b4 they will send, that I should start counting from last week. that's why I prefer to do it through someone because it takes at least half that time. |

hello fam! my personal person is trying to move to Canada and we are currently trying to decide on the province and state for him to settle.
little history: -he is a recent masters degree holder in something on govt policies(cant remember exact name) from the states. -into music and soccer professionally. -professional field (academically) is public Administration
anyways we are looking for a province that would sought of balance these things. His partner is a Registered nurse so we are also considering a province where it would be easy for her to also integrate in terms of licensure speed.
our options are; -Vancouver, BC -Calgary, AB -Ontario -Manitoba |

deb02: I received a mail from OGP agency and they said US processing takes about a year or more..but my question is what why does it take so long.. Is it the CES report..or what cos UK is just about 3months like I heard...
Please I need your response Well it's simply because USA is providing you with a permanent resident Visa(you can apply for citizenship after about 5years) after you do the licensure portion of the process while the UK gives you a work Visa(you can apply for PR after about 5 years). So technically the immigration portion of the process is what takes time. |

sesay: please how long does it take IQAS to receive document sent to them? I sent my certificate for evaluation since January and it not been received, after submission and delivered by the courier service. I am worried. kindly shed more light into how it work. plz 1......IQAS advices candidates to track their packages themselves through the courier so that they are sure that it was delivered. 2......IQAS can take up to 2mths to notify the candidate of receipt of documents and would only notify you once they have received ALL your documents( that is transcripts, certificates and Verification of licenses from NMCN). you have to be really patient as the process can take up to 4mths or more. You can also call IQAS so they can tell you what month packages they are currently opening. There is also a thread for IQAS canadidates on "Canadavisa forum", I also found this thread helpful during my waiting time. |

hipstar2: Thank you. 2 more questions pls, if you don't mind.
1. We plenty for our family, half brother and sister things. But I only want to put one person's name? Is this advisable? I can't be calling the others to request for their details.
2. My spouse is not coming with me. He is still doing 'gbonku, gbonku' (lol) What reasonable excuse can I state pls? I understand what you mean. But try to include as many that responds to your clarion call. In my case I had like 20something siblings but i put way less than that. My criteria was excluding the ones who were citizens of other countries apart from Nigeria and also those who were being shady and didnt give me their data page. My reason then was that I was in a crunch for time. But know that whomever you don't claim now, you cant claim them later. |

camobri: There are people who failed Nursing council exam after 3 attempts and got eliminated but the university gave them the BNSC certificate after oassing the degree exams. Could such people try abroad? I would say that the answer is NO because such people are not REGISTERED NURSES. A person is designated as a GRADUATE NURSE prior to passing the final qualifying exam in North America. However, this designation isn't a permanent thing and is only valid for a short time. The graduate nurse can secure an RN job prior to passing the NCLEX but must write the NCLEX within 3mths of getting the job. If the individual fails the attempt, s/he is expected to notify the nurse manager and stop working till s/he passes the exam. In other words, it isn't the BSN or BSCN that makes you a RN but rather it is passing the council exam that makes you one. So NO, such person wouldn't qualify for any of these programs until s/he becomes registered. |

camobri: oh I see, I have been in wards and saw Male matrons, sounds super funny. Then we guys are allowed to write the RM exam to qualify as midwife, another funny thing. I think if those names were changed, more males would be encouraged to enroll in the nursing program. hahahaha ...…………. Nursing is a profession of care givers and women are traditionally the primary care givers in most homes hence the reason for more women in the profession. It could also be attributed to the patriarchic world we live in. That's why men feel its not a "masculine" profession and discriminate against men in the profession. Hopefully we would move away from that perception in the nearest future. You are a midwife so you should know that the WIFE in the word midwife doesn't refer to the care giver but to the client. they are the" wives" and we are the "mid" ;that is between the wife and their care . who knows, as the push for more gender neutral vocabularies keep pushing through especially in North America, the name may be changed but not for the reasons you would like it to. |

camobri: The words matron and midwife should be changed. O n G Nurse is better. I dont know about the word matron but the word Midwife and O&G nurse refers to 2 different types of nurses in Canada. An O&G nurse is a RN(BSN) that has done a certification or in hospital traning in the department of O&G. They are most often further broken down into labour nurse etc depending on your certification and area of concentration during training. A midwife on the other hand may or may not be a RN(BSN). She is a person who has completed the 4year program of Bachelors in Midwifery. She can work in any of the departments midwifery encompasses and may even set up a private practice. |

Theyoungmatron: IYIMAN Barbiee, Vickyehi And etc. Greeting to you all!!!!!!
I have been following this thread since barbiee created it. I have seen the contributions, i have followed those that commented to learn more on the process involve and i have started reading for NCLEX. After the motivations i garnered from here, i decided to I apply through an agency but it did not work out so i am taking the bull by the horn to initiate the process myself. My main motivation is to leave this country before the Nigeria nursing and it's frustration gets to me. I am interested in applying in state of Texas or any other states with less application hassles.
I am a Registered Nurse/Midwife with a BNsc and i am in a serious dilemma. I obtained my RM qualification before the RN and BNsc and all of these qualifications are obtained from different schools in Nigeria. So in sourcing for information, i find out that what is CGFNS needed for evaluation is RN qualification which i obtained within 18 months accelerated program. Herein lies my predicaments..
1...Will it cover the number of hours needed by CGFNS and BON in all faculties? 2....Do i need to include my RM in my application, if so how much will it cost? 3...Do you know of any basic midwives with post basic RN who was able to scale through CGFNS evaluation, the processes they followed and how much was spent? 4....I have heard of delays in obtaining CES report which may occur as a result of many factors. Quite frankly i do not wish to waste money applying for something that may cost me a great deal of headache. I am gathering some cash for this process and wish to be put through on the step my step process to avoid the delays. Thanks in anticipation. 1.....I believe you did your BSN for 4 years so technically the only thing you didnt do is write council there. So I would say you should send CGFNS all 3 transcripts. Across board I guess you should be able to meet any threshold of hours. 2....it doesnt cost extra money is terms of CGFNS fees. You would only be paying extra in terms of cost of sending transcripts. 3....I dont know of any. 4.....there may be recorded delays here and there but in this journey, persistence pays off a great deal. So keep pushing forward. |

Laurendee: Iya Ejima, I have some clarifications please and would like if anyone here could help. If I start my NNAS application from Nigeria and I get my advisory report and all and I have to leave for Canada for the other exams when I apply to the board. 1. What type of visa would I apply for and what documents would I submit in order to be granted a visa 2. I’m about to finish my bsc nursing and would like a masters in nursing in Canada but I checked the requirements and I have to be licensed as a nurse in the particular province to be eligible for the masters. So my question is what way is the best for me to pursue this. I don’t know if this is a good idea, but I was thinking of maybe applying for a masters in maybe public health just to get a student visa for entry into Canada for the purpose of completing all necessary things to get registered as a nurse in Canada, then after I get it I’d apply for the masters in nursing.
I don’t really know if it’s a good idea but I really advice. 1.....you can apply for a visitors Visa to enable you do any studying less than 8mths. But the embassy won't issue a Visa solely on the fact that you are doing nursing licensure. 2.....you can apply for the masters in public health and try to work your Visa. Study permit rate of success are low but it is very possible. 3......Best bet would be to process your permanent resident Visa through Express entry so you can be present in Canada to cross all the hurdles. |
