based on her age, that means no need for her to try then I guess since she doesn't have a masters
She can go through provincial nomination ....you can read that up on nairaland also. There is a thread for it

Hi everyone.

This thread came as a life saver.

A cousin was asking me about process of migrating to Canada or Australia as a nurse and I was totally naive
Cc: justwise, GlitteringStar
1.....Ist of all, if working abroad is her aim, she should go to this link to get accustomed to the different routes and their requirements ....https://www.nairaland.com/2863557/nigerian-nurses-midwives-dream-working
2.....her age is on the high side for her qualification so at age 33 you would need to have a masters degree to get a reasonable score.
3.....ielts target score shouldn't be less than lrsw 8777
4......i think Australia requires her to be licensed to practice in Australia to meet the cut( confirm this info from the aussie thread)
5......you dont need 470 to get ITA sc0res as low as 440 have gotten in recent times(page 1 for details/Ircc website)
Lastly go to page 1 to get details for canadian permanent resident immigration process. Please note that immigrating to canada using her nursing education and experience doesnt automatically mean she can work as a nurse on getting there(refer to the link above for steps for licensure)

please can someone give me their opinion regarding this . I have an account in Nigeria that I haven’t used and have a balance of about 3m . Been away from Nigeria for over a year . My husband wants to use his account in our country of resident for proof of funds . But i was suggesting adding my Nigeria account since the money is just there . The only inflow and out flow is normal gtbank maintance fee and alery Charges for a year now so the account does activities . I don’t know if transferring the money to his foreign account will raise a flag.
If your husband is the PA and the POF is complete in his account then I dont see a reason why you should add urs. But if POF isnt complete then transfer him the 3m and do a gift deed to accompany your docs.

True but the job opportunity are better , they even have Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist here. But I guess its better than practicing in Nigeria.
USA has a lot of professional opportunities but I am also concerned about immigration status. I dont want to marry a pot bellied man for green card grin cheesy cheesy
Practicing anywhere else is better than Nigeria that's the sad truth.

Where are you currently? A lot of hospitals are not sponsoring in my area because they have enough nurses. You probably have to need move somewhere that has less population like rural population. I heard by avant, it's nursing agency by this Nigerian nurse. You should check it out and see what they're success rate is. You may have to take a pay cut , especially if the agency has to file for you. But also research how much non immigrant nurses in the actual area is getting.
Thanks....by the great north I mean Canada. I am currently doing my BsN in Canada. It is more straightforward to get permanent residence in Canada than in the states.

No vicky, I immigrated to America in my teengage years. Yes I have a BSN and no the job did not file for me. I did not need job sponsorship. I came on the forum, just too see how nursing works in other countries and how immigrants come to this country during this era thats all, I'm just curious thats all.
Now I get it... well that would be the route for nurses who didnt have their stay prior to completing the nursing program. The job files for u if u are lucky to find an employer willing to do that or you file through an agency(pay is always lesser average 27/hr Illinois).
I am personally not in any hurry to head south grin.....would have loved to be where I can practice but the great white north offers more to me at the moment. Down side is professional integration isnt as straightforward as in the stateskiss

Yes nursing school is hard, but process was not that tedious because like I said , I was already living here and did not need sponsorship. I'm sure it very tedious for you guys especially if they have to bring you over here.
Yea....was it a BsN u completed? And also that means your job filed for your papers on your behalf?

No, I'm already a nurse in the states. I went to school here and I was curious thats all. Most of my coworkers are American born, those who are not went to nursing school here and already have their American citizenship. So the agency gets you work visa but does it lead to green card eventually?
Wow!!!....congrats.. kiss
It's a tedious process....I am not sure how long that part takes anyways.

I'm just curious, is the still US still sponsoring nurses to come here to work and are they actually getting green cards? The reason, I ask because a few years back, there was a nursing shortage and the US government were giving work visa to filipino nurses. I heard they stopped due to many of them coming and immigration issues.
Yea they are still sponsoring nurses who meet certain criteria. Most times u need to have a BSN(according to my personal research).
@Tunji's spouse is a proof that the route still works when u implore due diligence.
Immigration to any country is a step by step process and it take a big load of patience.

If practicing in the shortest possible time is your goal then head for UK (because CBT and ielts can be done in Nigeria).

If immigrating and getting your permanent resident status(that is the equivalent of green card in usa) is your goal then head to canada via Express entry federal skilled worker program.

If USA is the dream then pursue your nclex and secure an agency.
But anyway you choose to go, patience is what is gonna get you through.

The following were the response WES gave me on Twitter and Facebook regarding Nursing evaluation(especially RN):

Hi, we apologize for your frustration. We need documents in sealed envelopes as part of our document authentification process.

WES Canada8
Our evaluators reviewed your wife's documents and determined that they would be able to produce a more complete evaluation if they have the secondary school results from WAEC.

WES Canada

You can contact our Customer Service team regarding related questions and concerns.

From the second bolded, I think WES likely may change their bizarre evaluation for RN to something better. I would have requested for refund if NOT for that clause. Kindly help interpret their response, maybe I am too optimistic. Hoping to start WAEC process on Monday.

It shall end in Praise and Joy.
Please kindly help yourself and request for a refund( personal opinion). The UNSUCCESSFUL wes assessment under my timeline, the individual evaluated secondary school( transcript from secondary school and weac) and the report was still not favourable.

Wes would always encourage you to apply so they can eat your money( costumer service said there is no way to know if the outcome of our report would be successful until they complete the entire process)

If you wish to try ur own luck then that's on you. Who knows something might have changed between March and august undecided

Anyways please don't forget to update us on the outcome.

God's speed

Alright then. Thanks bros.

please. I have a slightly silly question. For nurses who wish to relocate to the Uk, why must they sit Ukvi instead of IELTS. It confuses me.

Secondly how much will it cost to register for NMC and UKvi here in Nigeria.

Thirdly, kindly share a good and trusted link of an agent to help register. privately thanks.

current location is ibadan, Nigeria.
People choose to sit ukvi because if you sit for ielts, you would need to resist for ukvi when u want to process your Visa.

Cost of ukvi is about 84k or thereabout. You can easily type "ielts application Nigeria" into google and you would see what is available in the country. I am not sure if ukvi is written in Ibadan but Lagos I know for a fact.
You do not need an agent to register for any exam. Just do ur google search for their website and apply directly by urself.

( I applied for the exam on the same day and bought their 25$ lecture and listened to it. At the end of the lecture I logged into the exam and took it. I passed in that sitting with 92%. So fear not the exam is very straightforward)
*Texas bon requested for another verification from nmcn .......23rd dec 2017
* VOL sent to BON ......Jan 21 2018
*finger print card received....Feb 5th 2018( there was a delay here because the ist ond they sent didnt get to me for some reasons I cant explain)
*finger print done and sent .....Feb 22nd 2018
* criminal check completed .....12th March 2018

* registered with Pearson vue ......5th may 2018 (I decided I wasnt gonna run anymore and I would take the nclex , let what wants to happen, happen. I was just tired of stressing about it )

* ATT sent ........8th may 2018( lolzzz....didnt know it would be so fast....I almost prayed God should take it back ist.....because suddenly my liver fail me....hahhahaha)

Att was going to expire by July so I fixed my exam for June 25th at 12noon. Exam centre was 2hrs away from my city so I followed a friend to the city a day before. I cant say I slept at night sha...but I told myself that it isnt know that I will read what will come out tomorrow. But I couldnt stop glancing at my note till I slept off.

Test day experience

I woke up at 8am ans my friend had left because she tests at 8am. I took the taxi to the venue and got there 1.5hrs early (my nerves were all over the place). Receptionist asked me to wait downstairs and come back upstairs 30mis before my test time (because I was too early and there is no waiting in the exam centre lobby). I came back upstairs as directed. Used the washroom, said a short prayer and went in.

Security check and palm vein all done and I was in front of the desktop. Took a deep breath, prayed again and started.

Finished in 1hr 50mins at 75questions. I took my break at the point and went to the washroom to wash my face, pray and I came back to my sit.I got the surgery questions (15 or so)and some other pilot study questions (30quest). I was already mentally exhausted and didnt want to sit anymore but I just answered them so the system can switch off.syetem finally shut off and I left.

I got the email notification of exam taken and immediately did my PVC trick. I got the good pop up( that's you try to re register and it says you already have an existing registeration). I waited for the 48hrs and did the quick result check. it was there .....I PASSED grin!!!!.
Saw my name later in the day on Texas site(verification of licence RN grin). I got my certificate with my license number on the 8th of August 2018(single license because I dont have a US SSN)

It was an amazing experience!

Study material

really wonderful for content. If you can finish it that would be wonderful. I stopped at chap 52 sha.....
Mark klimek audios;
Helps put things in perspective for you. It is a wonderful resource. Make sure u actually know ur cushman grin
Kaplan Qbank;
I finished it ....dont worry of you fail the SATA here angry it happens...I got 18% on the SATA. Average percentage at the end of the qbank was 54%.
CAT1 in feb ....finished at 80quest
CaT2 ......finished at 82quest (3wks to exam)
CAT 3......finished at 87quest(2wks to exam)
Uword;
This is by far the best qbank but I advice u use it only after u have arranged ur content. Uworld would also give u a lot of information on content also and the visual aids are wonderful.Average percentage at the end of qbank was 64% on the 82nd percentile( I think)
Ist and 2nd assessment......very high chance of passing.

If it helps anyone also note that;
Reading was done while attending school full time and with a full time job till april. Then just a full time job from april till exam day . Just do what you have to do to make it work for u.....above all believe in yourselves!
You are a Nigerian RN, you survived that.....you can survive anything kiss kiss kiss

Sorry for the long post.....

What are GCMS notes, and how do you order them?
GCMS (Global Case Management System) is Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC’s) system used to process applications for citizenship and immigration, tourist visas, student visas and visas under any other program. The system contains a detailed record of each applicant’s file, including correspondence from and to IRCC, documents received from the applicant, detailed notes from the officers reviewing the file among others. The GCMS notes are the only accurate way of providing an applicant with the in-depth view of his file on the IRCC system, thus enabling the applicant to be well informed of the status, or take pro-active steps as needed.

The GCMS notes are issued under the Access to Information and Privacy Act (ATIP). ATIP is a federal law and Canadian citizens and/or Permanent residents can get access to information from any government department under this law. If you are not citizen it can be gotten through affiliate bodies ( you have to be careful though)

Since the online IRCC system does not accurately inform as to which stage the application is at. And therefore it is important to keep a track of the application, so that corrective steps can be taken or preparation for an interview can be done. To track your application the only accurate way is through gcms.

Hello everyone, I have a peculiar situation. I have a certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology, its a 3 year program run by Colleges Of Health Technologies in Nigeria.
After the 3 years in a College Of Health Technology, you sit for a licensing exam organised by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria(MLSCN).
If you pass, you're inducted and given a practicing liscense which you renew annually. My question is this:

1. Do I send the transcript and certificate issued by the College Of Health Technology or the transcript and certificate issued by the MLSCN (NB: IQAS says you must submit a record of all the years of study, but the MLSCN transcript only has the record of the licencing exam.)
*I have called iqas and explained my situation and they referred me to their website, but the only information available is for Nurses. I also called the MLSCN but they don't seem to have any idea.

I think it is exactly how the nursing part is explained that u would apply to yours too. This means that u would sent transcript from your college (that's the school you graduated from) then the lab council will send an official document that verifies that u are indeed licensed with them. If your council doesnt have an official format for this, they can provide you a letter of good standing which they would send directly to IQAS.

Hi people, just a quick confirmation please.

Does maternity period count towards work experience? During this period, I was still in Company's employment, receiving full salary and all...

If I remove that period, my experience will go below 3years...

Has anyone who counted maternity leave as part of work experience gotten PPR?

I think it should count, however just want to confirm. .

Thanks smiley
It will count towards your experience if your company writes the letter without highlighting the part where u were on maternity leave. That is they give u a blanket letter(which isnt against naija company policies).

But here in canada, maternity period doesn't count towards your experience in some cases. Eg a friend needs 1 year experience for CEC but worked 9mths before resuming her mat leave(note mat leave is 1 year). She was asked by ircc to resume work and complete the 1year before she can apply.

So I definately agree that Less is more

Visitor's visa. The issue now is that my husband and daughter weren't given. He promised to do it and ask my husband to come for another biometrics but He's requesting for 3.5 million for visitor's visa. I'm think in of going to canada first and if there's a way I can legally stay in the country and bring my husband and daughter legally. OR should I wait for him to do my hubby's own, then go together and claim asylum? Pls I really need a useful advice right now, I'm seriously in a dilemma
Ist step to redemption is to find out every document that agent submitted for you. This will help you know the profile he has given you(am hoping it isn't a false one) so you can know where to start your Express entry from.
