I'm so sorry I have not been active on this thread.
Congratulations to iyiman, finally your US dream is a reality and a big congratulations to those that are living their dreams abroad. I'm happy you didn't give up and I hope the success stories from this thread encourages nurses in Nigeria aiming for a better life .. don't settle for less, you can achieve more than you ever imagined.

For those that have been here from the beginning, and to you that have kept this thread alive by responding to questions, your reward is in heaven.

Some of you are aware that I stopped processing my US application midway due to personal reasons however, I proceeded to attempt registration in the UK and will be resuming US registration on a latter date.
I'm going to share every detail about this new adventure very soon.

It is possible to start and finish UK registration within 4 months. Infact, right now the UK is the fastest and easiest route for nurses who really want to leave Nigeria. It's also a good place to start from if your USA or Canadian dream is taking too long.
Very well said sis.....I am seriously rooting for you kiss kiss kiss

EMERGENCY QUESTION PLEASE!
ECA isn't ready yet for my sibling and want to do the MPNP.
my questions are;

1.... has anyone gone through the MPNP process directly without an express entry ID and if so how long did it take from LAA to nomination?
2.....how long did it take from nomination to PPR? was it actually the 19mth processing time or the 6mth processing time
thank you all for your responses.

Lol

Damn..I just didn't want to argue. Hopefully they will know the truth sooner than later

I told them its 435 even sent the link to calculate themselves. They insist its 462 because Uncle Cohen said so. I no talk again
Cohen has probably calculated what they are capable of getting and not what they currently have. after they have paid the fee as stipulated by their contract then events would start to unfold and they would know that they have to maybe learn french grin grin.

IMO only use a lawyer if you have a complicated case of maybe criminal inadmissibilities etc.

Hi all. Kudus to you all for sharing useful information. Please i need advice i am eager to leave this country preferably to US. I am about to sign contract with Avant and about to commence cgfns ces. From observation i notice US journey takes nothing less than 18months grom CES CGFNS to visa immigration completion. So i am considering starting the UK process of CBT and IELTS so that if God wills i can go to UK while i continue with Avant US process. Please help with advice does it make sense. Thanks
My advice is that you should go the UK ist because remaining in Nigeria is not good for mental health grin cheesy cheesy cheesy.
However if you can, sign a short contract 1yr or find an employer yourself so you dont have to sign any contract with a staffing agency.
But whatever you do, dont wait in Nigeria grin

[please help oooquote author=fendorf post=76386844]Please how long does the visa screen processing takes with cgfns?
currently on mine but I think it takes about 6-8weeks after they have notified you of receiving all your documents.

BTW.......i want to try to take you guys along as my journey progresses. my hope is that it encourages someone and inspires lots just like my Oga "tunjinodaysoff" and others have been doing.

*So I just signed a 2year contract with Westways Staffing this week. The journey ahead is still quite something but oluwa is involved grin

I recieved an ITA last month. I logged into my account today and noticed that everything has disappeared. My ITA, my previous messages, everything. All that's left is my name.
Has anyone experienced this before and what is the way forward?
Thank you.
its either a computer glitch or you accidentally hit the delete button.

I agree with you and if it was the FSW I'd take no chances too. The reason why I am encouraging him to try is because it's SINP. He has already 'applied' using that profession, it's not that he is filling the form and asking for options. Form has been filled and ITA has landed.
The province of Saskatchewan cannot ban him from Canada. The worst they can do is not nominate him.
That being said, I see your point.
How are the landing preparations going?
well, i dont know about SINP but MPNP can ban you from their province program.

i was inland when i did mine so i only had to drive down to the boarder to flag poll grin.
thanks for asking kiss kiss kiss

Ifeoma77:
I don't think you have anything to be worried about.
If Sask is not convinced that you are/can be a paramedic, they'll simply reject your SINP application.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained
I dont think one can simply claim a profession that he isn't trained for. example just because you may offer some nursing care in your practice as a doctor doesn't automatically make you a Registered Nurse nor having the knowledge of how to check a patients PCV make you a lab Scientist.

what if he gets a BAN for misrepresentation? huh huh huh

Pls gurus in the house. I am a medical doctor, I applied for SINP Express entry last week, while filling the form, I saw 2 NOC in demand, 3111(psychiatrist) and paramedics. So I went for paramedics.
Now ITA for SINP has landed yesternight, but I have some questions.
Should I be worried about the NOC that I picked, I picked it cos I thought they are related. I am scared of misrepresentation
Your best bet is to decline the invitation.
A paramedic is a totally independent and different profession from that of a GP.
Your medical degree is in no way related to being a paramedic. Paramedics are specially trained for this purpose and only a few hospitals in Nigeria currently run this program( eg School of health UBTH).
Hence it is a clear case of MISREPRESENTATION sorry undecided

While preparing for the NCLEX-RN, try not to spread yourself too thin with numerous materials so you dont have anxiety when you cant finish any.
My preparation advice are ;

Content; Saunders then Mark klimek

This should be covered at the initial stage of preparation that is while you are doing all the CGFNS requirements. It comes in very handy especially if it has been a while since you left school and you weren't reading outside of your nursing school notes.
Klimerk would help you consolidate the knowledge you have gathered from Saunders and what you already know.

Delegation; Lacharity
It would help you understand the roles of UAPs/ LPNs and brush up your prioritization skills also.

Qbank; Kaplan then Uworld.
Kaplan could be used along side Saunders while you are still doing all the BON wahala but save the CBT tests for later.
Uworld could be started when you have gotten your ATT. That's in the final 8 weeks of preparation so you can use it to measure how far you have come.
Last 2 weeks of the 8 weeks can be for all your CBTs and readiness tests.

Please note that this may not work for everyone but I found it helpful. However it is very important not to loose faith in your capabilities irrespective of what scores you are getting on your Qbank attempts. I also don't believe in doing Qbanks multiple times because I feel you are cramming the questions and answers ( I dont know about you but I would remember it if I have seen it before).

BEST OF LUCK AS YOU PREPARE kiss kiss
....surely it would end in praise for everyone sitting any exams

grin. I’d choose Canada over the US anyday anytime, mostly cuz of the benefits that come with starting a family and raising kids in Canada. Not to mention the fact that one can sponsor their family members via PNP in provinces like MB. But we all have different factors guiding the choices we make. Is there a serious reason why you don’t want to go the LPN route?
reason is I have passed my Nclex already and dont feel like I should be anything less than an RN.
secondly, the duration of obtaining a BSN in Canada is too long.
lastly the pay isn't as good as that in the USA.

IyaEjima:
Hi, this is a tough question I must admit. I wanna believe the RN in question doesn’t have a Bachelor’s degree of any kind?? If yes, then the person can only get evaluated for the LPN category via NNAS, as you need a university degree for RN now. Also if the person wants to solely “work” then he/she must have PR plans in place as its a herculean task to get an LPN employer without having at least a work or study permit / PR and a license.
Getting admission into a Canadian uni would be a better option cuz u’d have a study permit which allows u work and pursue NNAS at the same time, but it’s not a cheap option cuz u’d be paying for tuition and licensure waka. Better option would be to get admission for a Postgraduate nursing course in either Niagara college or one of the colleges in Ontario. Expensive but can grant you PR and licensure in the long run. Best of luck!
Mama I have always thought you were practicing in USA huh huh not knowing that you dey my backyard grin grin
you have really changed my opinion about this Canadian licensure kiss kiss. Sadly I have just the diploma RN and I dont want to get licensed as an LPN undecided undecided. But now you are making me reconsider my options as regards to settling for good in Canada or the US. huh huh

Questions for experts in the house. The answers can provide direction.
1. Which schools can a RN resident in Nigeria apply to and get admitted to study or upgrade to BScN in Canada? (2yr course)
2. Why is the success rate very very low for RN nurses going through the nursing recruitment agencies (Passportusa, OgradyP, Avant etc) to the US.
3. Is it only RN with working experience or currently working that the recruitment agencies (Passportusa, OgradyP, Avant etc) work with?
4. Can someone still request for transcript from University of Benin Teaching Hospital by proxy? I heard it is no longer possible.
5. Has anyone here gone through NNAS while in Nigeria and eventually migrated to Canada?
1. most schools require you to be a canadian LPN ist with sometimes 2years experience for you to do the bridging program to become a Canadian RN.
2. I cant speak to the rates of these companies because I dont have the statistics to do that. However, if you have passed your NCLEX already you can apply to westways inc.
3. yes. most companies requires you to have experience in the field practicing. but not all require such experience to be on going.
4. idk. but its best to contact your lecturers
5. NNAS is for licensure. immigration to Canada isn't tied to your RN license(unlike the USA). if you wish to immigrate to Canada, you can do so using the express entry system. there is a thread here on Nairaland for immigrating to Canada. the two processes can be run at the same time.
TravelRe: Nigerian Nurses And Midwives With The Dream Of Working Abroad Let's Meet Here. by vickyehi: 5:40pm On Feb 25, 2019
IyaEjima:
The licensure process begins with NNAS. Pls visit www.nnas.ca
MB exempts Nigerian IENs from providing English proficiency exams (in my time for sure, don’t know if it has changed).
Am sorry but this policy has CHANGED and is even goping to change some more by sept 2019.
- ist change was that all IENs were required to write ielts with a ban not less than W7 R6.5 S7 L7.5 respectively in each category.
- the latestchange coming into effect by SEPT 2019 is that ALL graduating RNs in thr province are now included in the ielts requirement ( this includes CANADIANS and INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ALIKE).
The reason the college gave was that there was an increase in complaintrs by patients that their RNs in the hospitals couldnt communicate effectively in English. which is absolute nonsense in my opinion because IENs have been writting ielts for a while now.

So get over the fear of ielts and conquer it.

Exercise in futility. You dont need supernatural power to pass an exam. Pagans have passed IELTS. Africans and God ish. A white man will look for a practical approach to a solution. We Africans will look for the God approach.

One last thing, people don't do all-night prayers and night vigils in Canada. If they solved all their problems with prayers in Canada, I don't think we would all be aspiring to go there.
that's not what believing in a greater force does for you. it doesn't mean we aren't going to prepare, it only means that when things dont work out, we dont fall into depression ( after writing ielts 8times) because we believe that the big guy upstairs has a plan.

when you too arrive Canada if you aren't here already, you would see that these little things that gives us hope in the face of despair as religious people also makes a "white man" commit suicide.

Depression is very real and whatever coping mechanism you choose to use in defending your mind against it is a welcome strategy. Dont let anybody tell you otherwise.
