let me start by saying that Energy policy- non exist in Nigeria? that was the question right. I think there is an energy policy be it that it is unwritten. The policy is -give when you can or when somebody makes noise and we all shout UP NEPA. Mark my words, we have sick people in our nation leadership. They don't have vision accompanied by persuasion. I don't know why OBJ failed to sort Power problem out in 8 years but there may be reasons behind it, part of it as I undersood it, is to do with the 'cabal' or mafia who has interest in other things like Diesel, Generators etc. and to them Power solution is against their selfish interest simply because they are stupid and can't see the big picture. Nigerians are intelligent enough to know that the people who are troubling Nigeria nad power supply are not up to 1000 who are holding the country into ransom. I will soon post some more details of grassroot campaign going on and we shall find ways of 'taking over' this sector into our hands. The truth is that we need at minimum 50,000 MW of power anything short of that is a recipe for disaster and joke of the highest order. let us call a metting of wise people and stop eating from the pot of foolishness. 2020 is a complete joke without a comprehensive, deliverable and attainable Energy policy. There has been no single country who develop industrially without power. Period. May God continue to help this great nation. |
Sorry mate, bad as you think OBJ maybe, i think it is very debatable if he is the worst civilian President and if you also don't have a short memory he left a substantial foreign reserve. during Shagari regime, we have to borrow from IMF, the civilian before him, the Ahmadu bello/tafawa Balewa is full of Tribal politics. OBJ handed over from one civilian to the other, we are making some progress even though very unperfect (if you will permit me to use that word) Military- ABACHA did una Bacha bacha, what about IBB the smiling kniving maradona general- i guess that what Nigerians like. We need to pray to have young dynamic visionary young leaders all over the place to take over the country and set out visions. May God bless Nigeria. |
Do i know my Governor, it is either is doing alright quietly or is doing nothing. For me, those people hardly have idea once they are in office. They have to 'settle' all their campaigning constituency. lets hope they wake up one day to the fear of God. |
SOULONFIRE has said most of what need saying. Currency appreciation and depreciation is one thing, the basic fundamental in an economy is another matter. Corruption is the president and chairman of our Economy, he takes the lion share. What we need is power, power, power and good transport network and infrastructures. If we have 50% of the UK road and rail networks and airports(that is for the population of 60 million compare to 140 million) majority of people will have work in Nigeria. We have to have things that we export apart from oil and small agricultural stuff. We need to start to manufature, reduce our over reliance on imports. and stop 'imported goods' mentality. In a nutshell we need leaders with a VISION, in the short term a lot of powerful people will not like the idea as it will displace them but it is the only thing Nigeria needs. In the long term we would have a true middle class. Dollar is weakining and the Naira is not necessary strong. there is no fundamental reasons for the Naira to be strong. the main stay of our economy apart from the oil is banking and GSM phone industry , not unless you wanted to count Pure water, Churches as business. May God help us and give us a dynamic and visionary leaders (not one visionary leader- but many) |
I think this chap, Loanbroker is talking about Secured Loan in the UK and not Nigeria, so I think he better clarifies. His mobile phone is UK as well So I think everybody should be careful until he clarifies especiallly since not many people have the security to provide in the UK and most people on this site are based in Nigeria. So @POSTER clarify where is your loan available- in NIGERIA or UK |
Whao, young lady I wish you happy Birthday. Many many happy returns. you will celebrate 100 years if Our Lord jesus Christ tarry. May the good Lord continue to order your steps and he will perfect what he has already started in your life. You will arise and shine, everything about you will have the special grace of the almighty God. You will not depart from the presence of the Lord and the Lord will never depart from you. Go and enjoy your day, bounce around as if there is no tommorrow , I can see you having a broad smile in your face no matter your situation and cirucumstances, God is more than able. Each time I go to the prayer room I feel lifted and inspire. You will see the hand of the lord always in your life and family. Once again, have a wonderful day |
Funny enough that what our entire electricity/power network requires is less than $50Billion dollars to generate 50,000MW enough for us to run everything. What is the Federal Government takes on this. Lagos can find their own $50Billion if they put their mind at it. Definately Lagos need to get the FGN to renew Lagos-ibadan Express Road and at least another 2 expressway to access Lagos and special Truck and Buses Lane on the Express way and they should be mandated to travel at Nights in most cases. |
Until the wife is tested there is no way to say categorically if she has it or not. I think the man has to find a way to get all the members of the family tested first and if any of them is now confirmed, then he has to get his Pastors and other counsellors together and break the news gently to them including his own situation. The only good news is that if he thinks that his wife has not been unfaithful to him then they can both take solace in the facts that it is something that is meant to be maybe from his own stupidity. It is a lifetime lesson for him and all the other men and women out there. |
@viperman Can you post the pictures of the two cars and explain to everyone which one is Bullet and which one is bulldog and of course the prices Come to think of it, I like the names- Bulldog to chase away unpaying tenants and Bullet to get rid of them if they still refuses to pay. What an appopriate names ![]() |
@ Zorro thanks, I am thinking Duplex, and I am wondering why is that much. what about GRA is it the same as Bodija . What about land in this area, how much do they cost? |
Where has all those agents in Ibadan gone? i hope you guys haven't run away to Lagos and Abuja. Come give us a quick reply. Thank you |
3bedroom quite little- so you know this much details and He/she,- you are not even sure whether your friend is a he or she. If is a she nobody is coming to take her from you. lol and if is a he, that may well be you but you are entitled to your privacy nobody is coming to look for you until you buy your bank, make your movie and live in VGC, so stay cool. ![]() On a serious note, I think you should check with a local Estate Agent whether those terms are fair. unless anybody on this site is fairly local to where the property is they may not be able to advice you properly. On the face of it, it is not fair. agents normally charge 10% fees and the agent appears to want nearly 1 year rent as fee, so the agents want to pay his/her own rent from your own money. Kai damborouba, barao bansa that is what that agent is. N10,000 for damages is okay as long as they are refundable. Again one or two phone calls to local agents will tell you what the practice in the locality. Good luck |
Not impossible but very (highly) unlikely. IBB judgement from God is waiting in the wings. Did anybody remotely think ABACHA will disappear the way he did? God way is not man's way. The loudspeaker for 'IBB' and his 'EGUNJE/ SETTLEMENT' regime will no doubt like him to come back but I think the dynamics has really changed. But who knows, this is Nigeria, pigs may fly. It just occur to me that if such pigs were to fly, it may not land. God is supreme and extraordinary and let us leave him in charge, then we shall see whether or not that would happen. |
earthtones:I thought I understand where the poster is coming from before she wrote this. Even in America and Europe, 40 is the new 30 so to say the guy is pretty old is a complete lack of judgement on your part. First in Africa, an Educated man with some small change don't grow old, even if he is 70 years he can marry a 21 years old, and not just one but as in as many as he wants. So if he wanted or can be given an African Queen don't underate his pulling power. If again you think the guy is pretty old why are you wanting and loving him? there would be more people like you who might love to be in your shoes. From what you said though about the chap and the facts that his other brother married an American and most of his siblings are in the USA, the chap can also be 'african american' in most of his ways now so he wouldn't be particularly interested in an African Queen especially a place he hasn't lived in for a long term. And with his maturity, I don't think the family has any good chance of persuading him to marry an African Queen. I will agree with OLANAJIM that you should ask him nicely, like 'darling I will be missing you when you go away on this your trip, humn do you want me to come with you, if you don't want I don't mind but i thought I should ask' That way you will have good idea what he is thinking because it appears that you wanted to know his mind or thought without offending him. Do not say that he is pretty old because trust me African Queens are prety quick in snatching available eligible professional batchelors. GOOD LUCK |
No, I don't think so because your fellow woman wouldn't vote for you. Yes, possibly if they don't have 'Etthe ke te' craftyness. on a more serious note anybody can excel if they apply their minds to it, if given the chance and support and the person is fair and selfless. Sex, colour, race. tribe and religion is just invetion of the devil that he uses to separate us from achieving greatness. Competence is the key and should be. Our prayer should be that God in his infinite mercies to give us the best person to lead us right with wisdom with a clear vision. Amen. |
@ FSU, BABASIN and BIG1 These are the kind of debates and opinion we should be pursing rather than Tribal bashing IBO -V- YORUBA - V- HAUSA. You guy have said it all including the rest people on this thread so far. We need to sort out our baisc amenties including infrastructures. I am not in one bit surprised that we lost the bid, they just cosider us out of courtsey. The team who are mandate to choosing the host for the commonwealth games are not stupid, they will have seen that though abuja is beautiful but we don't have infrastructures. Most hosting countries usually have light train services, the inter city type. As a last ditch effort when it is clear that Nigeria are going to lose they started to offer that we would transport all the 73 countries to Nigeria and back to their own countries at Nigeria expenses when we can hardly eat 3 square meals and no basic infrastructures. They think they can bribe others like they give their own EGUNJE. Those people are smart enough to do Nigeria a favour. They in effect said 'Use you resources to look after your own people before inviting visitors to come' Good luck next time they said to Mr. Goodluck |
Nigeria budget is £12 billion pounds which is less than London Assembly budget. UK population 60 Million budget £350 Billion Nigeria population 140million budget £12 billion Is like 7 up marketing word - the difference is clear. |
I don't think many people have answers to it or do not seriously make effort like you to find out what may be wrong with our Continent as well as black race in general. Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo of KICC has just publish a book which might answer some of the posters questions from both the spiritual and canal perspectives with evidence based. Go to www.whatiswrongwithbeingblack.com www.pastormatthew.com where you can get the book. The name of the book WHAT IS WRONG WITH BEING BLACK The book as I understand it is hot and kind of explain how we got where we are and what we are doing to remain there instead of finding ways to move away from it. |
We should wait and see what he has deliver. In my own opinion the guy has been the President for 6 months or thereabout, he is nice, coolheaded gentleman and seems transparent. However, apart from mentioning his 7 point agenda and 2020 vision he has yet to do anything substantial nor can I personally see his vision. Until he set out his vision clearly and the time frame at which he is going to achieve them and finaly for us to see at least succesful completion of any of his programme I will say it will be too early for anybody to judge him on merits and therefore 2nd term should be off the table. He needs to prove that his 'selection' or election is justified. 2nd term is to be looked at towards the end of the first term |
I couldn't agree more with thresa8 If you read some of my past post on former speaker ETTEH, I have said consistently that the issue the dishonourable house member are fighting is more than contract award. It is about speakers office and the power that goes with it. Just for a minute we accept that the new speaker has no qualification as required by law and overwhelming majority of members of over 300+ out of 360 members voted for him, then I am sad to say we should not allow some minority of disgruntle members to hold the country to ransom. Those members are not interested in law making they just want free monies while they spend their time doing personal business and deals whilst using the office of being a member of the House to amasse more wealth. Now that the Speaker has produce his NYSC certificate, can we all youths rally round him and let him get on with the job which he was elelcted for and getting paid every month whether we argue or not. |
Would anybody by chance knows how much a 4 bed/5bed detach house will costs 1. For buying 2. For renting In areas like BODIJA and GRA a nd all other good and safe areas in IBADAN presently. I will appreciate your contribution |
Even the poster inability to think is self evident. OBJ has one known wife - Stella Obasanjo (apart from the bedwarmers and concubines depending on what you choose to call it) and as record will have it she passed away some years back, unless you are telling us that ATIKU has pass on to go and marry her on the other side of the world, then you must be a joker or he has just had a nightmare. The story and the link does not exist for a start. On the other hand it may be the poster is talking about the 'joint concubines' both OBJ and ATIKU shared when they were both President and VP respectively. Poster try and do better next time with your story otherwise you may look stupid than the cleverness you are trying to achieve. |
That is a nice advice you have given him there. Depending on why he has choosen to buy the vehicle in the first place. Usually people don't buy a Jeep as their first car except for the reasons I will set down below (But if has got the money it his call, but if he has no Home of his own, it is not a good idea, car is a diminishing asset whilst home is an increasing one.) He may however not listen to you for several reasons 1. He may want to show that he is a big boy that have arrived as an 'oppressor' (may even need a Driver for the Jeep) 2. He may have awoof money and need to blow it ( easy come easy go) 3. He has got a misplaced piority. 4. He is yet to have experience of Repairs and mechanics costs including Dodgy spare parts 5. It may be his dream car that he has always wanted that he had promised himself to buy once he has the money ( Even to you and I, it may not make any sense economic or otherwise) OR On a positive note he may use it to attract Business because the Business people might actually see him as a comfortable person. Again like I said it his call let us leave him to his decision once you set out the Advantages and disadvantages to him. Good Luck |
I think the poster of the thread is new on the site, I hope the admin can move the post to romance. Answer to the question - it is a difficult one because ideally Husband and wife should be worshipping at the same church or religion. Are you willing to give up your religion for his or is he willing to give up his? Would his immediate and extended family frown like yours has frown? Even if he agrees to change his religion and becomes a christian would his friends not say that you are controlling him ? traditionally our Brothers in the Islamic faith are allowed by their religion a polygamus relationship, have you thought and actually discuss this and what is his opinion? Since his religion permits him to marry more, if he does what would you do? When you finally make it to the wedding day, in which religion are you going to marry and worship? and I prayed that God bless you with Children which religion would they adopt? presumably as in Nigeria- the fathers, are you going to be happy for them to go mosque? All the above are part of the variances which you have to consider and then satisfy yourself that you can live with the consequences which in fact is not too different if you have been both christian or moslem except that you both we be thinking it is because our religion is different. For instance my Grandfather who is a christian marry my grandmother who is a moslem and they both serve God as in Christian and moslem till their passing away and no problem. All the children went to Church and during the moslem festival the children and we the grandchildren went to mosque for foods and 'merryment' Ultimately it depends on both parties but wife's parent in Nigeria tends to have more impact on the womans life because if anything went pearshaped the woman parent will say ' we told you so' You have to ultimately make up your mind whether you are going to be RUTH and pray and work and take any side effects that it might throw at you. Good luck. |
I concur with ADEBOO, Education and information is essential, if we don't teach our children somebody out there will teach them for us. ( and chances are that they will teach them what is not proper, morally or spiritually sound) Unfortunately we live in a world where many parents have not been 'parented' or shall I say educated themselves, please tell me what kind of education they are about to give to their children. So the parents have to learn first and also learn the act of parenting and spend some valuable time with their children teaching them do and dont's and try as much possible to be their best friends so that they can confide in their parents anything and everything. May the Chief teacher of Heaven teach us, grant us more knowledge, understanding and wisdom. |
@adeboo, I am sorry darling to disappoint you. If we have a welfare system the way Our country is organised, then you will have people in government and even ordinary people who will abuse it and in any event it will never get to people that it is meant for. ( It will actually increase crime surprisingly) Social security anywhere including US and Europe is bare necessities but we have shown that we incapable of managing things. Some people in the Uk and Ireland for example , not only our own people but mostly are known (allegedly) to have collected 2, 3 or more times. Maybe one day we would become our brothers keepers. Nice thought though and may God help us. |
Depending on how old are the couple and what stage they are in their study/carrer but nothwithstanding 1 year minimum and 2 years maximum to know each other a bit and then decide whether or not there is weeding beel. @ IMAM1 Your parent relationship is one of the exceptions when people can meet and marry just like that. Also there generation is quite different from the present impatient and selfish generation we are now. 4 years is too long especially from the woman point of view because if she kept spending 4 years courtship in 3 relationship that will be 12 years with say even age 20 that will make her 32 years, so 2 years maximum. Also 4 years is a long time to avoid temptation and if you having pre-marital sex you as good as married and what is it to look forward to. More like 1 year to 1 year and half , i concur with Thoniaslim on this point |
Even if they (the chinesse) write the all the instructions in English I would'nt fly in any of them. The Chinesse cannot even manufactured a safe toy let alone flying aircraft. On a more serious note if the standard is comparable to AIRBUS and BOEING then it may make flying and aircraft costs more competitive. In any event the chinesse at present manufacture well over 50% of most contents of machinery and Aircrafts. I hope in not too distant future we Africans can come up with something like cars, buses maybe who knows some Airbus or Boeing 914 (instead of 419) Anything that move the human race forward I am for it. We wait to see the final product. |
I am working on it, so that I can implement it when I finally become the President and commander-in- chief of the Armed Forces. Seriously darling, those thing called social security or welfare system is only in our dreams and it is not part of our agenda for another 20-50 years, but who knows pigs may fly. I heard that the govt set up some organisation to look into it. But, Nigeria have the most wonderful family support system, you could practically go to any of your family member for your smallneeds like food etc which you hardly get in the west. The only time you get to see some of this family member in the US or Europe is during christmas or thanksgiving period. In Nigeria 24/7 The answer to your question in a nutshell is NO, Nigeria does not have a welfare system at present. But look out for this space once I become the President, I will be printing more monies and we all going to have party with 'uncle sams' or in this case 'uncle wazobia'money When you find me your African King and marry me then I will make you the secretary of state for Social security, you will organise Social security numbers for everybody and give them monies if they are out of jobs. Only that you have to promise me that you wouldn't turn to HRC in wrecking the social security department like she did with Health care and that in 8 years down the road you will not be looking forward to be President like me. I will promise you in return than I wouldn't do a Lewinski on you. ![]() |
FSU:1. Igbo is NOT largest ethinc group in Nigeria- only in your imagination and wish 2. The reasons why there are not many Yorubas or Hausas in Igbo land is because you people are hardly accommodating. FSU and I know perfectly well that even though the census is faulted especially with KANO being more populated than LAGOS State but it is fairly representative of the population, so if state were to be created it will be based on the population However, but with the states we have created what have we achieved with them only for governors to become currency exporters and importers. Secondly, what we also need is Business/commercial zone area in the 6 geo-political zone to rapidly increase economic activities. Lagos definately deserve another state but people don't want it because they will not come from Lagos state again |
I think he would have also given the figures in naira but for the purpose of international investors it is easy to quote the sums in dollars. The next point is to find means of privatising most of those things so that investors can see where they are putting their monies and the returns expected because a private enterprise will explain in a nutshell how they intend running the business. Thank God for some ideas and start somewhere. |
@ nigeria1 This 'zoning' you will be suprised to note that it happens everywhere and voters usually look out for their own person. In the US for instance there is the south and North balance and East and west even mid states representation. Example the President if he is from the North will usually choose somebody from the deeply religious south and vice versa. The conservatives and the liberals etc. Our is simply entrench in political parties consititution and may even be more fairer. It is not perfect or the best system but believe me it works well if they allow it to rotate. Imagine OBJ handling power to another Yoruba man even if he is the most qualified- that would be seen to be tribalist. The USA on their part has no deep tribal affilation they all speak English until the recent spanish incursion which each candidates or party have to do something about. Infact it is worst in the West, people vote for people youthfulness and good looks, how is that going to help democracy if they don't have something to offer upstairs. Take the UK for example, the English are the largest 'Ethnic' and they resent having the Scottish or the welsh in power and those people knows it, about a month ago the present Prime Minister who is scottish nearly made the mistake of his life by wanting to call an early election, he would have lost because he is scottish, his conservative opponent is English and young looking face. Using the UK one as an example, the same current Prime Minister is very competent and has been the Finance minister for 10 years with growth in the Economy in those 40 consecutive quarters in that 10 years, the longest economic growth in British History. My point is that this quota thing works if it actually goes round and hopefully each region or zone present the best candidate. It is not the best but in some country with large ethnic diverse and regions like ours we are much better. Everybody knows they can be in office, so the next things is to specify qualification -experience , education etc so that the best will always be choosen from each region. If we simply say the best may be the President will be coming from Ekiti state, some state in the East or Benue state- among the Tivs who are known to be very educated. God will help us to always do the right thing |
