To think of N628 to renovate a property not even building is sheer madness. but a car that costs N10,000 once it got to the federal level will cost N100,000. It is only in Nigeria that second hand thing can sometimes be more expensive than brand new ones especially if given a fresh coat of paint.

For ETTEH to have thought about N628 million to renovate a building there are more people involve than they are shouting. She will have been reassured that such sum can be justified by her 'co-dishonourable members'

Maybe we should use ETTEH issue to dissect the whole jokes called National Assembly and the Senate. These are full time comedians, and Kung Fu/Boxing/taekwando experts being referred to as Honourable memebrs.

I don't know what is honourable in people that cannot fix health system that for a headache and cold/cough they will fly to Germany etc.

I am surprise that people choose to cal others a thief without that person being found guilty.

What if I say that A.K.O mother is a theif.  Tthe house has not impeach her nor has she been found guilty by a court of law.

The allegation in the house is that She has awarded a contract of N628  million without due process, the contarct has not even be carried out nor anybody get paid. She could be sanction under any House rules on Ethics or remove by the House.

So calling anybody a thief is  itself criminal without formal conviction.  ALAM is a thief becasue the court has found him guilty.

We can alledge something but we should not turn our gossip or opinion to facts or refer to them as facts.

If the House think The speaker and her deputy has done anything wrong let them impeach her and refer the matter to the Police.

Mind your language because if it were to be your mother that people are saying that about, I am sure  you would not find it funny at all.

Do unto others as you would want to done unto.

Is just a matter of time before Etteh fate is decided one way or the other, until then we can make every representation but not name calling.

I think the threat is a joke as that will be the end of anything remotely MEND and anything to do with them and their families.

I think part of the political process should be an aspiring members should have medicals for serious medical condition before coming to the House, as I am not sure how many of them are medically fit, starting from the President, too much Isi Ewu and 'horse riding'(as in night riding). If the Chairman of Health committe in the House can pass waay like that on what I suspected is heart Attack, then the rest members may just die like chicken.

If we look at the state of the country it is all comical and nothing short of full time comedians, part time house members. They all have degrees in Acting and kung Fu.

They can never set any good examples, as they haven't learn good examples themselves. Majority of them are bunch of thugs from bus garages clothed in modern attires.

Etteh has 3 problem.


1. She has not 'share/allocate the contract' the way it is always done by her precedessor and politicians in general.

2. She is not though enough like Akinyulli to put her foot down and establish her Authority bearing in mind that she was 'selected' by his uncle OBJ according to rumours.

3. She also may be having problems with the Northern members who are usually not use to women leadership/headship

On the whole she is not firm enough or establish her Authority enough on time.

We shall see where this will end up. I will refer you to what happens in Different states, the impeachment of Governors is usually to allow room for the Deputy Governor to become a governor.

To Mamajama and all other well meaning Nigerians may our dreams comes through in a miraculous way.

I can give you some details of some institution that have compability with the UK.

www.cmucas.com they are based in Prague CZECH Republic costs about £8000 per annum and

www.sgu.edu based in the west indies (check for their fees)

They I think based in eastern Europe and West indies but follow UK/US syllabuss or something like that.

That way it is cheaper and you will do your early years in the those countries and can then complete in the UK or the US.

However, even the citizen of the UK pay more than £8000 per annum. Foreign student definitely pays well over £10,000.

I study in the UK and even in mine own time is well close to £10K per annum for overseas student which is nearly 15 years ago.

That said if your pops is loaded they will welcome your money. IT may be possible to go countries like Ghana, Malaysia ETC especially some commonwealth countries with good British
Education and maybe cheap fees I don't know.

Unless you need to leave naija, I will advise you to do your studies in Naija.

If you are looking for a serious relationship, then what is the point of looking at 2 mirrors at the same time, you will simply get confused trying to compare and contrast.

It is not a good idea as if the other person is also doing it and you then want that person and she don't want you anymore as he/she has now prefer the other person.

Academic education is one thing which some don't have the intellectual challenges for.

Trades/technical are other things- this is why technical colleges, polythecnics are established. So if you want to learn being a mechanic, a plumber, a builder you can even learn it and get a formal cerificate unlike learning from roadside mechanic. But you all will agree with me that most people do well even when they don't have formal education.

A lot of roadside mechanic are also competent after years of learing so there is nothing losts.

If anyone geniuenly have the abililty to follow formal eduacton they should, even if they think they don't they should try. There are a lot of benefits and mosts guy without formal education will not be able to see.

However, whatever degree/professorship you may have, try and get off your high heels/horses and have an enterpreneur mind/attitude, without geniue wealth, your PHD will not pay your bills and put food on your family table. Period.

So, in a nutshell I will advise whoever have educational inclination to spend some part time learning business/trade/wealth creation.

Whoever has enterprenuer inclination to spend part time learning formal education. That is the future. Without a formal education, it is a mental thing people feel inferior and made to feel inferior if your friends started to blow some big grammer or use some languages only
learn by people with formal education.

What this translate to is that both Peter and paul (like majority of Nigerians) are not carrying out periodical assessement of situations and the country Nigeria has messed up the educational system and devalue it and sometimes Graduates has put too much weight on a formal education and see it as an end in itself, if only I can have 1st class or 2:1 in this course I am made for life. nope, it is only one of the means to an end , not the end by itself.

We should all be studying enterprenuship or wealth creation/investment even if you are studing Chemistry or sciences.

As i said I will get more info through senior pastors who are in the marriage counselling ministry.

Spiritual husabnd or wife does not allow the victim to make any meaningful progress with their lives. So it should not just be ignored especially the spiritual husband or wife will threaten their victim with more torture or death if they seek help. For example I have one of the committee members who were suppossed to look into the Niger Delta issue of 15 years ago saying that part of the development efforts are being thwarted by the chiefs who will rather get settled than for things to be done for the general good. He cited an example of Shell wanting to build world class school in Ogoniland in which the 'thiefs' said they will rather get paid the money.

Also it is no coincidence that most corrupt governors are in the Niger Delta, Alams Odili, Ibori .

And also the ordinary niger deltans are part of the problem, ALAM was given a state welcome for a certified thief who has stolen the wealth of his own people to enrich himself personally and not give them anything in return.

May God save our country. So if you are from Niger delta you should be engaging the youths on how to stop the so called elders and stateman looting the region.

Imagine if the oil well is hands of the Elders and ALAM, they will just buy DUBAI and nothing more.

Your observations are correct and incidentally the majority of the reason are caused by the women folk.

Two clear reasons.

BUT, what its result, the first time an IGP in any African country was successfully prosecuted and convicted, governors, Senators etc.

The executheives fire back and said it was selective justice. Isn't it that the executheives does not beleive or think is possible to have organisation like the EFCC which everybody now fear before OBJ departures.

In as much as the 3rd term OBJ was suppose to be seeking is an abberation on our constitution would it not be better for him (now thinking in retrospect) to have been retained in some capacity (or at least strenghten the institution EFCC) to deal with all the executheives even though I do not agree with any form of tenure elongation even for a day.

I think in my own opinion the greatest challenges we face as a country and we will continue to face is the war against the executheives and CORRUPTION is another matter.

CORRUPTION IS THE NATIONAL CANCER OF NIGERIA. If you don't handle with utmost seriousness, it will eat us up until all Nigerians will die in poverty, when all our assets will end up in the West and swiss bank account, may be now in China and Dubai.

I personally think that DR. Yar Adua is a very decent, propably honest guy but whether or not is capable to fighting the Nigerian cancer (CORRUPTION) is another matter and the jury is till out on that.

My instinct is that Yar Adua may not be able to pull this through as some sturboness and bully is required to deal with sturborn people called the Executhieves. Do anybody remember he goats! They don't listen until they are almost killed. our executhieves are HE GOATS.

The majority of the current politicians are recycled from the previous and now their children and grand children. Some good, majority very bad.

Maybe we need combination of  honest men like RIBADU and bullies like OBJ to take the bull by the horn. EFCC in my own humble opinion is one of the very few things that has been good in Nigeria. If we would be honest with ourselves majority if not 99.9% of Nigerian fears or afraid of EFCC, now we now have AGF and President RuLE OF LAW. IT IS CALLED THE JOKES OF THE LAW BY the EXECUTHIEVES. They are just laughing at Nigerians.

May God deliver us in this country.

I think Hilary is a good person and will also be a good President. She earn it when she stand by husband in the middle of the verocious attack by the GOP during the Lewinski affair. She will also be in the unique position to get a friendly advise from a former President in out of Bed. A big shoulder to cry on when the though get going which surely will be.

Part of the Hilary vote will be Bill Clintons die hard support and worldwide respect for Bill clinton. Even GOP people still loves Bill Clinton except that he almost kept them out of office perpetually.

Incidentally that attack was just used to get rid of a very successful democratic govt, and
Al-Gore fall for the bait by not siding with his former boss and consequently lost the election becasue he did not win his own state Tennesse. If he Al-Gore has won Tennesse there will be no JeB bush helping his brother in Florida with the 'hanging chad'. Gore bite the finger that feed him and he lost as a result.

You will never have Gore/clinton ever. The Clintons and The Gores are sworn enemies nothwitstanding they are civil infront of the camera's . Infact it is propably too late for Al-Gore to make in roads to Hilary leads in the polls.

Bill Clinton is an old charmer and has warmt without pushing unlike Al-Gore or Bush. he is a naturally passionate and always look geniue. No false smiles.

I think you may get Clinton/Obama if the gaps between the 2 were to narrow but if the gap stays the way it is then Clinton will appoint somebody other than Obama.

Clinton rationale will be that it is too much of a ask to vote woman president and a black VP at the same time but if she did it America may have her first woman President and First Black VP and potential Black President and woman VP in 8 years time.

On the issue of OBAMA. He in my opinion outside Bush/Clinton dynasty the better candidate.
He is fresh, young and energetic and don't have any baggage like Hilary which the GOP painted as too polarising. He is able to think out of the box. take for example he said that he will meet leaders of Iran,Cuba etc without precondition which is thinking out of the Box. everybody including Hilary call Obama inexprience and naive.

Remember Obama is the only guy who has always been against Iraq war, and few years later he was right. Now Hilary has eaten her words some few weeks after calling Obama naive, she has seen the God giving wisdom in OBAMA and she said she will also meet with these leaders without precondition. Just few weeks. They called OBAMA inexprience whilst they are flip flopping. As the saying goes he who laugh last laugh best.

I have something I wanted to write about OBAMA. if he is unable to win it is simply to do with RACE and not experience. All those experience washington insider and establishment has run America down. period.

I know that FSU is a patriotic Igbo man or Woman for that matter, and he is also a basher of other tribes.

I am a patriotic Nigerian and no basher of any tribes. I love my countrymen and women whichever part of the country they are from. I even like the idea of cross marriage and cross festival and twin of cities across the nation. That means that people like FSU will be able to come to light. and we will just love each other irrespective of the tribe. Look at Under 17 world cup in Far east which Nigeria won that was befiting to all Nigerians.

In relation to Mrs. Akunyili, what a wonderful woman, we all love her. She is a good example of a good Nigeria. Her way does not start from her job at NAFDAC, she has always show good leadership and that is what got her into her present job and long will she reign.

However, the Nobel peace award is a different thing altogether, it was a huge ask and to be nominated in the first instance(if she has indeed been nominated) is huge and commendable. As of today Al Gore, the former US Vice President has won it. Even if he hasn't won it, it takes more than working for your country including NAFDAC to win this huge award.

Mrs. Akinyuli will surely get the best award from Nigerian as she is working to sort out a peculiar Nigeran mess- adulterated Drugs ( and if I may add, she is even more brave as this is predomiantely Onitsha Market problem- albeit now exported all over Nigeria, particularly Lagos, Abuja and all other West African Countries.)

I wish her all the best but Nobel Peace prize, it is a bit too much for the asking at this present time.

May GOD continue to be with her and her family and wonderful peace loving Nigerians

Thank goodness that you ask GOD to help us all. Only God can help us with our 'leaders'. They lack wisdom and and too selfish and selfcentred to see the big picture. They are unable to create a future that we can all rejoice and be looking forward to.

On a personal note to you SEUN, Christ is the way and life. Give your life to Christ. We as human like scientific analysis of things and if it cannot be demonstated then it doesn't exist, that is what the 'failed' world of unbelievers want you to believe. They are even very persuading and sometimes convincing, but in the end everything that the Bible said has always come to pass.

I ask you to have faith only in GOd and his son Jesus Christ who gave life in abundance. From time to time things will happen that will make anyone to questions one's faith. Hey but in the physical world, the facts that you suffer a setback do you just abadon 'Nairaland' projects. I will think not, that is faith, believe and determination.

Like any other person i am happy to look at the world, explore it, try to understand it, but my tent at the end of the day is the Lords tent.

I am not a christian serving God soley for bread(he gives me bread). I serve God because is my father, my Lord and saviour. What  he would do, he would do. It is the personal relationship with him and it just make a whole lot of diffrence. Going to church is about fellowship and praying and sharing together. Like in the secular world a lot of things also happens in the church which strictly speaking is non-christian(its a wordly thing) but this is done essentially by and use for anti christ propaganda.

So my brother I love you with the love of christ give your life to christ and have fun. He has everything and gives everything and can take anything.

My instictive suspicion is that Etteh will propably weather this and pull it off. she may pull it off if she can ensure that that there is no enough vote to pass no vote of confidence or to impeach her.

I think there is a lot of truth in what all the posters have said.

We have very bad leadership to tap wisely into our natural and human resources which would have made us a rich country.

Unfortunately the Leadership are representative of the followership which I must say are propably worse than the leaders.

What we need are set of leaders with grit and determination. Believe it or not we may need to have a 'small' revolution.

Our lifestyle and leaders make us very unproductive. There are very little incentive for harwork and honesty, integrity.

Let me give you a small example how daft and stupid our country and leaders are. I heared on the news yesterday that by flaring our gas we are losing $1billion dollars per day. If am right in my arithmetics that will be $365 Billion dollars per year. Let assume it is working days, that will be $240 billion per annum. assuming we say this has been going on for the last 8 years , that will amount to about $2 Trillion dollars.

Now tell me what we can do with $2 Trilion dollars- build almost the entire country or even it will amount to about $15 dollars each if we hand it over to 140Millions Nigerians but we all know that using it to build the country will be more rewarding.

Common sense does not tell our leaders to ask some companies be it in US, Russia or Chinesse to build it for us and get paid part of the income, instead we are just wasting it away.

If we Nigerais collectively can stop fooling ourselves and think that we are rich when our leaders are stealing and fooling us we better rethink.

Nigeria should have been a rich country but sadly with the combination of leadership, follwership and tribalism etc we are a very poor nation indeed. Infact worse than country without human and natural resources because they will at least get sympathy and AIDS from the world community.
