Please what do you have to say about Rent to Buy. Its a new build and you have the opportunity for shared ownership at any point but can only do a full purchase after 5 years on the RTB contract.

The rent is slightly lower than market rate for same kind of property in the same area considering its supposed to be a 20% discount.

Civil service just put my friend on the reserve list for an EO role. I want to ask on his behalf, how long should he expect the actual appointment?
People who have been on the list, how long did it take b4 you were appointed?

There is no guarantee that one must be given an appointment while on the reserve list. It will happen only if a vacancy comes up in the department.

I am currently on a reserve list since August last year and nothing yet till now, so you see its not a guarantee.

Greetings all

Please I’ll like to find out if anyone has recently applied for a PBS child dependent visa. I’m in the process of applying for my children (9,7 and 2yrs) and apart from their birth certificate and my bank statement, we are being asked to provide their evidence of financial support (their own bank statement)

I’ve drafted a letter stating they do not have bank accounts at the moment . However, I’ll like to find out if anyone had gone that route and if it was successful

TIA

Just your bank statememt is enough. For mine, I didn't bother writing any letter of explanation. I just uploaded their birth certificate, my husband’s account statement, and a letter from their school confirming their enrollment in school.

Yes. By the time you clock exactly 5 years. Your ILR application should ideally already be with the Home Office

Thank you so much for your kind and quick response.

You should apply for your ILR no more than 28 days before the expiry of your work visa. If you wait till it expires then you must extend it before applying.

At the time of application you should have passed your life in the UK test.

So what this means is that one can write the life in the UK test before the 5 years elapses and nit a must you have to clock 5 years first.

Please what happens next after someone has spent 5 years on a work visa. At what point would the person be able to apply for ILR. Is it after the end date of the COS. Does the person need another visa extension to be able to apply for ILR?

I think children who were under 6 years of age as at the last time they applied for a visa need to go for biometrics. I'm having same issue, my 8year old was able to use the app while my 6 years old has to go to the center because she wasn't yet 6 the last time she applied and didn't have her fingerprints captured.

Please what document's did they request for your kids to upload as evidence?

it is correct. Upload your bank statement and requested documents if available etc

Thanks for your response.

What if I do nor have some of the documents, like the enrolment letter from school. The child is just in secondary school.

I was thinking I don't need to upload anything like i did for main applicant and partner dependant since we are already inside the UK and spent over 12 months.

Hello all,

Please has anyone recently submitted a dependant child tier 2 health and care visa application from jnside the UK.

While submitting for the main applicant and dependant partner, it did not request for any evidence but for the dependant child it is asking for some evidences to be uploaded as seen below.

Kindly assist as I suspect I might have done something wrong.

Sounds pretty straightforward to me and the language is super clear.

E.g. If you are a student whose course ends 30th Sep and have received an offer for a job starting on the 15th Oct, then you can apply to switch to a Tier 2 visa.

Thanks. I Just wanted a different view. I can now advise the person to go ahead and apply now.
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Vintagee: 8:47pm On Sep 16, 2023
Please, with this new law of no switching for students until after course end date. Can the gurus help me interprete this.

"If you’re currently in the UK on a Student visa, you must also meet one of the following requirements:

you have completed the course you were sponsored to study
your job start date is after your course has finished
you have studied for a PhD for at least 24 months"

Does this mean one can apply for tier 2 now even though course ends by end of September but the work start date is after the course end date.

wait till the end of this month and collect a letter from the school. The last time I checked you still get a valid visa till January. No rush grin grin

There is a reason why the person does not want to wait till.end of the month. All I want to know is if the new policy allows it.

Please house, does anybody have an evidence one can show to an employer to enable them ass8gn COS to a student whose course end date is end of this month. The COS is available but they insists students cannot switch till end of their course so cannot assign the COS until then.

However, from my understanding of the new policy, students can switch so long as the job start date is after their course completion.

Any evidence that can be shown to the employer?

It’s possible pls. Use the one you have that is valid till October for your COS

What I mean is for instance if I get the COS in November, while my current passport is expired and I am.yet to get the new one, would I still.be able to switch with just my BRP.

Hello house,

Is it possible for one to switch visa when the Nigerian passport is expired. I will be going for my Biometrics end of September and my passport expires early October.

I am worried that I won't be able to apply to switch visa if I should gey a COS while my passport is still being renewed.

Any idea pls.

@vintagee You can actually open the account this very minute with just £1. You dont have to wait till you get the full £4000 to open the account. Open the account, what ever amount you have you put in it. Minimum amount to open is £1. So long as you are below 40 before you open the account then you are fine, even if its just a day before.
Thank you.

Short response, No!
Long response, yes you can, when you're 60. If you withdraw before 60, you pay a penalty (about 25%). LISA is an instrument for saving towards deposit for your (1st) house or saving towards retirement.
Read more in the property and mortgage thread. See below 👇

Hi Semmyk,
For someone turning 40 by September this year, can the person still open the LISA let's say by July?

For CASH LISA account holders, do not forget to get the £4,000 into it to get the free 25% ((£1,000) by end of tax year in 5th April 2023. This could be used to deposit for your first mortgage house. Husband and wife less than 40 years could open this account and save upto £10,000 each tax year until both reach 50 years when you cannot save money in the LISA account.

For STOCK & SHARES ISA account holders, do not forget to max out the £20,000 allowance per tax year, 5th April, 2023. When you max out the £20k in stocks and shares ISA account, you can keep putting more funds in your General Investment Account.

There are so many stocks that are quite cheap in NYSE...you can cherry pick good dividend paying stocks with dividend yields upto 6-8%.

Remember that profits from stocks and share lSA account and dividend payments from your stocks and shares ISA account are not TAXABLE....tax man doesn't look into these earnings

Slow and steady win in the market....

HAPPY 2023.....

Must the account type be opened together by the couple? I will be 40 by August and my hubby is over 40, can only me open the LISA account before I clock 40 in August?

Hello

Have your dependants done theirs?

What will most likely happen is that an NSF requesting evidence for their Maintenance will be sent

Be ready and supply that information when asked

Cheers

Yes, we have all done our biometrics. I got confused with this part of their application hence felt it wasn't necessary uploading on theirs again.

Hello

Please upload the POFs for your dependants on the day of your biometrics and pay for assisted service.

You can't assume the ECO will know the maintenance evidence you provided includes your dependant.

Cheers

Hi Duchess,

I already did my biometrics. Please is there any other way around this.

Regards.

Hello house, I am just worri d now. I uploaded my POF account statement only on my own application. I did not upload it on my dependants applications. The POF however has funds for all of us and I was believing since the application is linked the VO can access from my application.
I am now noticing that everyone uploads on the individual applications. I hope this would not caus me any problem.

Please for those of you that declared past UK refusals, did you state the reference number for the refusal. Is it a must that one states it and what can be done if I can't find the refusal letter to be able to get the reference number.

Ooh I get the issue now - Wife (MA) did not include step child in her own form section as dependent and husband wants to include child. This may not fly and MA may be required to confirm relationship with step child if included by husband.

As MA, husband's visa is tethered to hers - she can't fill 3 dependents and husband filling 4 cheesy

Yeah, so in essence it's better bother husband and wife add him as dependant on their application even though he won't be travelling with them.

it does not change anything. She is his child and must be filled. You are not applying for family reunification or citizenship or something. No extra information is needed. POF , visa fees, IHS are for those travelling and the ECO will only request this from those
travelling/those who submit an application.
People here have gone on to fill their niece’s, nephews, househelps and what have you nots to their application.. then it reached decision making time it was denied for the particular niece or nephew and the rest of the family was approved. It does not change anything.
Even those dependents that are truly dependents and have not been able to provide appropriate documents like court papers etc are denied but this is just the dependent. .. and not you or your husband. She does not jeopardize your application in any way.
ECO can not deny your application tht you have different dependents… that is not part of the point based system for accessing Tier 4 apps.

Thank you.
