Peharps we could convinice House members to give up 2bn dollars and serve the nation voluntarily? Its sure a good way to start |
I'm not too optimistic about Fashola 2015. The country doesn't really work in a manner conducive to a guy like him being president. I'll support him if he runs of course, but he'd have to be considered a long shot.
You nailed it! |
aribisala0:forgive me, I overestimated your ability to grasp salient points with ease. |
^^ getting the point is what matters. |
stormm:LMFFFFAOooo |
I seriously don't get why some Policemen can stop other Policemen from carrying out their legal duties! The NPF needs serious restructuring |
I seriously don't get why some people develop pyrosis simply because others express themselves in a way they choose to. I don't have to be sorry for being a Nigerian, speaking Chinese English, simply because i share a forum with a lousy member who considers it disdainful. People should really learn to mind their own businesses more often. If you don't have anything spectacular to contribute to a topic, by all means, go green, save some space, STFU! |
I hope to be a lawmaker some day, my top priority would be to declare on all state broadcast media, my intention to forfeit my basic salary for the common good of my people and in an effort to tackle the endemic poverty related issues. The People would love me for it!. . . i would then sit back and enjoy the rest of my slice in the. . erhm. . .2.5billion dollars? It's a win win situation!!!!. . .everyone is happy, fair and square!!! |
If the leaders are making 2.5billion dollars in 4 years and 90 percent of the population live below poverty threshold, that says a lot about our priorities doesn't it? abegi jor, make me go enjoy FRESH AIR jare! |
if the distinguished lady has a Phd or not afterall she has a greencard which she could have gotten by marriage to another U.S. citizen. No rush and the truth will surface.First, the word distinguished is highly subjective and very debatable. The exchange suffered the worst form of malpractice, insider tradings, and fraud under her belt. Second, what does her green card have to do with holding a doctorate degree or misrepresentation of her experience? |
Kobojunkie:LMAO!!! |
Gbenga Daniel is a bástard!!!! |
^^^ The truth is, no one bothers with background checks and due diligence in Naija. . .I am seriously planning on going home to sell myself as an associate at the Bank of England, who knows, i might just land a vice presidential role in one of em new generation banks. |
^^^^ We have to face the distasteful reality that our stock exchange was manned by a fraudster for several years! Naija, everly living up to our reputation! ![]() |
OAM4J:It's very possible to lie about working at the NYSE and get away with it. The NYSE would not conduct investigation unless by request, and given that hundreds of employees join and leave on a regular basis, it's very difficult to beam a search light on a single individual. The sworn affidavit deposed to by the Chief Counsel, Litigation, Legal & Government Affairs, of the NYSE, Andrew D. Richman, which has also been filed alongside the counter-affidavit by the defendant’s Counsel and marked Exhibit AO2, revealed that on the request of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, two separate searches had been conducted – one on October 4, 2010 and another on October 7, 2010 – to determine whether Ndi Okereke-Onyuike ever worked with the NYSE. The findings of both searches led to the discovery that she was never an employee of the New York Stock Exchange or the Securities Industry Automation Corporation (SIAC) at any given time, as she had presented in her letter and documentation (inventory of general business and technical skills) to the NSE.http://www.businessdayonline.com/NG/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=17233:how-okereke-onyiuke-got-nse-job-with-fake-qualification&catid=76:hot-topic&Itemid=564 |
^^ you fit shit for bodi if you want, I aint bothered! |
OAM4J:If she could lie about previously working at the American stock exchange, how could we tell if even her name is truly Ndi-okereke self? |
I don't see anyone putting suggestions on the table, |
nice move, it will be better, if backed with actions to ensure that the state Police are well policed and the state sanitizers are sane themselves. |
Why do some of you talk like this ? There is no hard and fast rules to effective governance in Nigeria for now. The one thing we Nigerians can bank on , everyday, is that corruption and extreme greed will rise with the Sun in the morning. To that end we should accept what we really are, as a Nation, in comparison to advanced nations so that we can praise and encourage men like Okorocha . His gesture may seem populist to you but Nigerians who understand where we need to go will intuitively realise that philantrophic and people-oriented leaders like Rochas, Fola Adeola et al are the way forward . They must be encouraged to get involved to reduce the influx of jobbers into Nigerian politics i.e those who wish to become stupendously rich via Government positions. Please tone down down your harsh and blanket criticism of folks like Rochas Okorocha. They may seem idealistic and insincere to you but this could be because you are cynical beyond redemption to the point you think selfless leaders do not exist in Nigeria.I disagree, we don't need philanthropic leaders, we need visionaries!. . . the people aren't looking for alms, they need a better system, a better environment. If you have a leader who's just looking to please the people, it's either you have a sheep who has no clue/plan on what to do or you have a wolf whose sinister plans are hidden behind generous gestures, either way there's only one loser---the people! There's one thing the Sanusis and Fasholas of this world have in common, they got right on to their jobs, not organizing pity parties. . . .they recognize that the system was way off from being perfect, they put plans and policies in place that was initially inconvenient. . .while Sanusi overhauled the fraudulent banking system, Fashola bulldozed people's homes and shops. . . .the people hated them for it in the meanwhile. . . but in the end, there are two winners----the leaders and the led! Let Rochas get right on to work, the i-am-a-loving-governor-who-hates-salary party is over!!! P.S If you are doing a good job or intend to do a good job, you SHOULD get paid for it, the Sanusis of this world got paid for their jobs, not an extra naira more or less than they are entitled to. If my accountant decides to render his services for free, i'd fire him and have him investigated. . .there are no free lunches in life! |
Gbawe:Build a better mousetrap, and the world will beat a path to your door . . . .don't come here feeding us with junks!! I am smart enough to know that when someone comes public on his first day in office to declare that he will be "forfeiting his basic salary" to provide free education for all, more likely than not, the dude is a lying Real achievers win the hearts of the people by the work they do, Fashola is one example! you don't have to seek cheap glory to be declared the "people's governor". . . .things become a lot more disgusting when one begin to take into account the megajumbo allowance he'd collect while serving as a governor, it makes the basic salary look ridiculous. Rochas Okorocha will be measured by the size of his achievements, him forfeiting his salary is no achievement! |
lucabrasi:1) If he can draw his salary and still run a free education scheme, why is he giving up his salary?. . . To become a people's governor? To mask a bigger loot he's about stealing? 2) What effect, if any, would the forfeiture of his salary have on the overall well being of an Imo State citizen? 3) Is the state too poor to fund capital projects? 4) What are his plans for sustainable infrastructural growth? how does he intend to finance those? I maintain that you guys are just being extremely |
Dont mind them jare.Gbenga daniel stole #50 billion while shekarau stole #110 billion.what percentage is their salaries for 8 years on the amount they stole ?
I was in the same class with Rotimi Daniel back in the uni, the dude's bank balance is heavier than his father's basic salary! |
kasiem:Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner!. . .told ya a quick question please, why do you suppose i should "sacrifice" for people to "enjoy" ? You don't even know me and you are sure I'm snubbish and treat people with high level of scorn. . . .have you been smoking weed on the first day of the month? Rochas is a great man because he announces that he'd be forfeiting his basic salary. . .if that's how you define greatness, then you are a bigger |
Funny people on NL!! Your governor is entititled to hundreds of million in security votes (which he can decide not to account for). . . millions in allowances. . .and a basic salary of around 800,000. The dude comes to the public to say he's giving up his salary, and folks go n'ude in the public ready to suck his c'ock! sometimes, you wonder why stupidity abounds in Nigeria, some are just sort of naturally gifted at it |
haha, what a conman. . .letting go of his paltry monthly salary, how about his megajumbo allowances?. . .i bet the dude made no mention of that! The people would think. . . our governor is sacrificing all for us. . .the dude is back at home laughing at their folly! When will Nigerians become wise? |
fresh air doesn't come cheap now! new ministers/house of rep members will need new cars each. . .Nigeria is a land that flows with milk and honey, you whinners should stop whinning already! |
otokx:very sensible. . .humane manual systems work better, are more efficient, cost cheaper, provides better results than automated systems, so lets keep it that way! I suspect you, or someone you know, benefit from a system where you don't have to show up at work and still get paid the hours not worked. . . .so, why not let's keep it that way! |
@violent you are completely wrong, The first solution to this kind to conflict is for the govt to come to terms and talk with the extremist, They are humans and besides they are Nigerians just as we are, they have families too and loved ones who have already been killed by the govt. I am not justifying the fact that they have killed innocent people too, But if the govt continue to kill them they will for sure get stronger, their families and friends will join the extremism. The more boko haram you kill the more violence you cause on your people, It happened in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq and many other countries where they pursue terrorists. Terrorism is an ideology and it spreads more when you kill their people in the name of hunting them.
I puked when i got to the part you mentioned they are humans. . .bullshyt!!! This is not a conflict, this is not a group of people fighting for a certain reasonable cause, this is a bunch of animals breaking the law. They don't deserve a right to life, they don't deserve to sleep when they have murdered sleep themself. If their families join extremism, the government should kill their families too, till the very last blood of em. . . .their genes ought to be completely wiped out of the gene pool if possible. . . .there's always an elastic point and there's always a breaking point, all the feds simply have to do is identify their breaking points and push past it. . . . .it doesn't matter how many are killed in the process. And when i mean killed, it doesn't neccesarily have to be a public style execution. . . .it's a process where a Boko Haram member wakes up on a monday morning, only to find out that half of his leaders have dissapered into locations unknown |
otokx:Nigeria is also not the UK where people have access to uninterrupted power supply. . .do you suppose that should mean Nigerians don't deserve one? Construct logical argument, will ya? |
Ikomi:So what happens when Israel's right to exist as a nation is threatened? Do you suppose it is unjust if a smaller nation (by landmass) takes measures to protect itself from bigger sharks who feel it shouldn't have a right to exist? |
State governors should embrace a minimum pay-by-hour approach. This would mean that workers can effectively earn what they put in, and would improve overall output. A pay of 38 naira per hour equals a minimum wage of 18,000 per month. Rather than dish out 18,000 per month to an unproductive labour, a 38 naria per hour pay would ensure that only active workers are rewarded and in effect, reduce the overall labour cost. |
