Riverman2:erhm, someone called me? |
Isn't it the same dude reported to have assaulted another student some years back? https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-356256.0.html seriously, the university should be sued/held accountable for the most recent attack. |
I think the homepage topic should be changed to something less dramatic. Saying someone is "going to die in six weeks" sounds a bit off, especially when the article says "he's likely to have just six weeks left to live" The two are not the same and should not be used in the same context, this is a man who's achievement has bettered the lives of millions of people, please show some respect! |
againstGEJ:Oh please, the bill was passed in Nov 2010!. . .and guess whose signature is boldly inscribed in the portion that states "I ascent"? The bill was never in public interest, and a government that claims to offer change and what's that thing called again self. . . .erhm. . .yes! "Fresh Air", will not offer sponsorship for such, except of course, he stands to gain from it. That asides, the 1.2 billion was proposed by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, of course, the smart ones know that such offices don't have autonomy to make such decisions, it's definitely on the orders of a president who's bent on running the nation bankrupt, for now, that seem to be his only goal and yes, he's doing an excellent job at it. |
These men are living large already .why do we need to waste money on them again ?
Apparently, Jonathan couldn't find another way to spend 1.2billion naira, why not save it for the ex-head of states. it seems a reasonable thing to do. . , .ah let's not worry about the civil servants screaming for an increase in minimum wage, they are just whining over frivolities, afterall they can afford 2 square meal a day, that should be enough, the government cannot afford to pay more |
you guys are crazy. celestine babayaro is a brand name. an established brand name. anytime he is ready to come up again he will come up easily. all he has to do (like amorosa manigault and dennis rodman and jermain jackson etc ) is to start appearing on reality shows. at 100,000 pounds a pop, if he does like 30, that 3 million pounds and he can retire and spend wisely. amorosa made her wealth through reality shows. she did about 30. she made millions. so do not pity the guyAre you for real? First, British people, unlike their American cousins hardly celebrate indolence and financial recklessness, and if you don't have a natural charisma that is capable of swinging a thousand audience off their feet, you can as well kiss your ardent fans goodbye. The British culture is such that the lower you go, the faster you travel, and once you are declared bankrupt, the only way your name will appear in the public is through the UK tabloids for ridiculous reasons. The question everyone will be asking is "why should we pay Babyaro so much to appear on a show, who's interested in seeing Babyaro"? oh well, i guess the likely intuition then will be to catch an early morning boat down to the US, where people like kim Kardashian get paid millions in dollars to do nothing. . .well, if this is your thinking, you are likely to be wrong here as well, first Babyaro has got no boóbs, neither does he have sex tapes. . .and the hard hit being that Americans are not into Soccer, it's very likely that 1 in every 80 Americans don't even know who Babayaro is. So what would i do if i were Babyaro? simple, i'd come home and run for the gubernatorial seat or a place in the house, he doesn't even need thugs to snatch ballot boxes, Chelsea and Newcastle fans are known to be natural thugs and would be more than willing to fix things for ''Baba" ! |
shior! we've never been good at enforcing our laws anyway |
Omolola1:It goes both ways. isn't it just ironical the way women don't like to be seen as lesser mortals when it comes to holding positions or being heard in the public, but are yet so quick to throw up the "women are weaker creatures" card when issues like this comes up? Men shouldn't be hitting women, Women should also start growing up from the ''I am a woman i can get away with anything'' mentality, no you can't! |
***sighs**** |
dayokanu:Abi o There are rules everywhere to protect women, men deserve to be cut some slack too. I honestly think being a gentleman is something two stops short of being stúpid. I let you have my seat on a bus, I let you get on first in a queue, I open the door for you to get in, I carry the heavy luggage, now when i get slapped by you, I am also expected to just walk away?. . . .what an unfair/unjust world we live in! |
@busygirl ^^^ ![]() I didn't type that, my alter ego did ![]() |
jason123:It's hard to fathom really, you can imagine the senate full of looters thinking ''haba, oga this one don too much now" I am preparing myself for those days when the oil runs dry, and in a bid to keep up with our debts, our president prints more naira than necessary, which eventually force the value of naira down south. . . .those days are coming i tell ya. How anyone will think of voting for this same government eludes me! |
Yes!. . if she slapped me first, and drop that shyt about men being gentlemanly, a lady that is ladylike would earn respect enough not to get slapped. I'm starting to get sick and crazy about this world that wants everything to revolve around women, fúck that shyt, if women seek equality in everything, why should they want a lesser share when it comes who has the right to slap who? I would respect you enough as a gentleman to keep my boundaries from being crossed, but if you decide to go over my boundaries and do something purposefully to spite or disrespect me, depending on the severity of whatever it is, i might walk away as a gentleman should or i might just land a dirty slap across your ugly face. as an example, If a girl spits on me cos she's angry or cos we're having an argument, fúck that gentlemanly shyt, you earned yourself a slap! |
kai, this dude ehn? we now live in a country where taxpayer's money is spent ''judiciously'' for the upkeep of those who looted our treasuries dry. Go on Jonathan, let's give the thieves more money, who says OBJ and IBB don't require upkeep? or who says the families of late Gen Abacha wouldn't need money for their daily meals. I hate to say this, but really, Jonathan is dáft! |
The Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental-Governmental Affairs on Wednesday rejected the N1.2bn proposal by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation for the upkeep of former Heads of State and their deputies. Chairman of the committee, Senator Smart Adeyemi, said his conscience would not permit him to defend it before the Senate Committee on Appropriation to which he directed the SGF. A Permanent Secretary at the SGF’s office, Mr. Taiye Haruna, who represented the SGF, Yayale Ahmed, told the committee that the N1.2bn was not captured in the 2011 budget proposals, but that it would be presented to the committee later. He also said that the sum of N2.2 billion was proposed for the upkeep of the former leaders in 2010, but was also dropped when the budget was being computed. Adeyemi was visibly angry at the proposal. He told the SGF, “I will not be able to defend this before the appropriation committee. My conscience will not permit me to do that. I think that these retired Heads of State should be able to take care of their needs, but we are still paying so much in the face of people not being able to eat three square meals a day. It is unfair. “I cannot understand why we are going to be spending so much money on former Heads of State who presided over the affairs of this country rightly and wrongly when we are growing an army of unemployed youths who are now capable of staging a revolution. “It is unfair to set aside N2bn for a few people who were part of those who mismanaged this country when there are no jobs, when there are no drugs in the hospitals and there is so much poverty in the land.” Haruna explained further that N1.2bn was actually meant to cater for the needs of the former leaders which were already in arrears. He said there were seven living former Heads of State; five former Vice-Presidents, six families of deceased leaders and two families of deceased Vice-Presidents. He argued that the upkeep was in line with the Act recently passed by the National Assembly on the upkeep of the former Heads of State. He said a five bedroom housing accommodation was supposed to be built for each of the former leaders in any location of their choice with telephone services. The government is also expected to provide, at least, three vehicles for them and pay the salaries of their personal staff. The funds will also be used to cater for them whenever they visit Abuja, as well as pay for other courier services required by the former leaders. Haruna also explained that as soon as the major provisions were made, the annual upkeep would not be more than N250m. But Adeyemi noted that though the Act had come into force, he stood against it as it did not represent the interest of the people of Nigerians. According to him, he would continue to oppose the implementation of the Act, hoping that someday the Act would be revisited for a possible repeal or amendment. |
Me and Bobby McGee ----- Johnny Cash |
Fúck me sideways, they shot the dude on the head! |
If your boyfriend does not tell occasional lies to you, he doesn't give a damn about you ---- #fact! |
Is it still acceptable if the dude in mention had fondled the woman's bóobs while she only replied with a giggle? . . . hmmmm. . . okay, so when does it become disgusting?. . . . [if someone can tap her bumbum in the public and her reaction shows she loved it, what's to stop her from being fíngered by the same dude]. . .and the husband is just meant to be calm and collected? hells no! we are talking about his wife, as much as a gentleman i'd love to be, i doubt even the most rational person would not exhibit an animal instinct, people have committed murder for far less reasons. |
Omolola1:Don't ask him, if he still loves you, he would have made it known since!. . plus he's called an Ex for a reason. Use your head darling, asking him will paint you in a red desperate colour, and trust me no one wants a desperate person as a friend, talkless of a a girlfriend. As for your current bf, if you just like him but not crazy enough over him, dump his árse!. . .there is no such thing as ''"hoping to fall in love over time"!. .you either have the tingling feelings or you don't. Yes love grows, don't get me twisted, but in almost all cases, it has to be there already! |
adamsrib:You don't get it! The Husband has no grounds whatsoever to confront the other dude when his wife is in fact enjoying the act!. . .The wife disrespected her husband by not showing signs that she wouldn't tolerate such acts, and that's what made the dude furious. |
The wife was wrong QED, and i wouldn't be so quick to judge the husband's reaction as brash, it was the first thing that came to his mind and you don't even have to be a woman beater by nature to do such. It's a clear cut case of irresponsiblity and loose morals on the part of the wife, seriously where does she start drawing the line? does she laugh jokingly when male colleagues handle her boóbs as well?. . .hell yeah, i can definitely do the bítch slapping. . . and as for the golden finger that taps my wife's butts, he's gon be a John Doe in a matter of minutes with my boot prints all over his face. |
Kobojunkie:lmao! deal with it! |
I bet these folks must think everyone is daft!. . . . and well, they probably aren't far from being right in their thoughts, after all Nigerians are the same people clamoring for the same government to come back in April That Adoke dude is way worse than Aondokaa, bunch of twerps! |
The Attorney General of the federation, Bello Adoke, has absolved all the former presidents fingered in the infamous Halliburton scandal of any involvement in the $180 million bribe scam. Mr. Adoke said that none of the former heads of state, including Olusegun Obasanjo, profited from the bribes which spanned three administrations. He however admitted that the president’s aides were culpable in the scandal. The justice minister said this on Monday when defending his ministry’s budget in front of the senate sub-committee on judiciary, human rights and legal matters headed by Dahiru Umaru. The minister said that the major culprits in the scam were Bodunde Adeyanju, a former aide to President Obasanjo, and Ibrahim Aliyu, who was a former aide to President Abdulsalam Abubakar. Mr. Adoke’s predecessor, Michael Aondoakaa, had repeatedly come under fire for his kid gloves approach to the case. Mr. Adoke’s verbal acquittal of the ex-heads of state comes after a similar reprieve to the construction giant, Julius Berger in October last year. NEXT revealed that $120 million in bribes was paid during Mr. Obasanjo’s administration alone between 1999 and 2005. Yet, during the interrogation yesterday, Mr. Adoke said the former president knew nothing of it. “The aide (Bodunde) never mentioned Obasanjo’s name,” Mr. Adoke said. “The aide said he collected it (the bribe) and he admitted that it was not for the President. He emphatically said that President (Obasanjo) never knew about it. He answered his father’s name.” Continuous bribe Mr. Adoke also argued that the scam predates the Obasanjo regime and started during the regime of the late dictator, Sani Abacha. “The Halliburton scandal is beyond the regime of President Obasanjo, it started from the time of Abacha, even officials of the government of General Ibrahim Abacha had collected money, the officials of the government of General Abdulsalam have collected money; it was a continuous process,” the minister said. He added that his findings revealed that while the bribery scam lasted, only officials of the government, especially aides to the president, benefited and “never” the presidents. Ikechukwu Obiora (PDP Anambra), chairman, Ad-hoc committee on sale of Federal Government houses, was however not satisfied with the minister’s defence of the past presidents. He argued that since the special assistant to President Obasanjo was paid money in order to influence the award of contracts, there is an implication that the money was intended for the former president. “We have to do an intensive public hearing on this,” Mr. Obiora said. The minister, however, admitted that former President Obasanjo had, during his administration, made overtures to Jeffery Tesler, the indicted London lawyer who gave out the bribes. He said Mr Obasanjo sought to recover 50 per cent of the total amount but he could not say why this never happened. “I do not know why the money was not repatriated,” he said. He argued that only $21 million of the $180 million bribery sum paid to Mr. Tesler was given to Nigerian officials during the period while the lawyer kept the balance as profits of the fraud. Recovery account The justice minister said that the various amounts earned by the government as a result of the settlement with the companies involved in the bribe are currently held in a Recovery Account controlled by the office of the Accountant General of the Federation. “Penal funds are not treated as revenue, the money does not go into the federation account but goes into what we call the recovery account for the exclusive use of the federal government,” Mr. Adoke added. He also said that $1.4 billion of Abacha’s loot is still stashed in foreign banks while only $1 billion of the loot has been repatriated into the recovery account. The Cover-up Contrary to what Mr. Adoke said, and as reported by NEXT in previous editions, documents from the Department of Justice (DOJ), and the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the United States indicated the involvement of three former successive Heads of State: late Abacha, Mr Abubakar, and Mr Obasanjo. The three benefitted from the bribe scheme which spanned over ten years, beginning from 1994, and involving several of their aides. The bribes were meant to secure liquefied natural gas contracts from the federal government; with the total value of the contracts being $6 billion while the bribe money was $180 million. The contracts were given in four stages; trains 1 and 2; train 3; trains 4 and 5; and train 6. Mr. Adoke did not give any basis for the exoneration of the former Heads of State. |
CCTVs are not necessarily installed to stop crimes from taking place, rather, they are installed to provide a clearer picture in an event when evidence/clues are paramount. The country has been witnessing terror motivated events in the past months, it is only pre-emptive to install an "eye" which can tell things as it is, without necessarily having to go through embarrassment of the blame game saga witnessed in Abuja a couple of months ago. |
^^^ nope, it's FAT! |
^^^^ If at least, these two highlighted points don't sound sarcastic to you, then i rest my case I agree with you, they all need to relax and stop shouting.oh!. . and i went the extra mile. . perhaps i wouldn't need to have my lecturers shot In sarcasm, ridicule or mockery is used harshly, often crudely and contemptuously, for destructive purposes. It may be used in an indirect manner, and have the form of irony, as in “What a fine musician you turned out to be!” |
bidemi12:****sighs**** even after saying it repeatedly, that the dude is just being sarcastic, you still say this? It means, the dude is just mocking her with by giving supportive statements even more than she could ever hope for. {Dear Lord, I never knew a day like this will come when i'd have to explain sarcasm in the most basic manner to NLs, but in everything, i give thanks and if it is thine will that it be so, so be it} |
^^^^ Dem no wan here any contrary view. Is that not a sign of a Nigerian? I simply said the truth and they go - I go kill u today, i go kill u today. Na today u go die. Haha? They praise America as if it is heaven, and I simply pointed them to something that happens in America, and they go - we go fry yah head today, yah yanch go boil today, na today u go know say Patience na im marry Jonathan. Which kain thing be this?
Oh shut it, you brat! A poster made a thread about the story of a young man whose 15 years of his life has been taking away by an unstable Judicial system that was meant to protect him to begin with, and the first and only thing that came to your mind is "Why should we care, after all it happens in America". . . You couldn't even step down from your high horse for a minute and empathize the young man's plight. If you haven't been thinking with your árse, then something must have registered in your pea sized brain that this is not a thread meant to ridicule Jonathan. Injustice somewhere is Injustice everywhere, and if you happen to have come from a household that had benefited from the treasury loot, why not just keep your vocal cavity shut and let the rest of us mourn what you and your dads have left of our dear nation? |
