When this fool wanted his son inlaw to rule imo.state, though the son inlaw is a good man who has also sent several boys abroad even the son of the woman selling the ogba and palmwine,he even renovated there house for them,he even relocate many guys that found it hard abroad to another country,do you know why we and imo people in general didn't vote uche nwosu his son inlaw? It's simply because we igbos don't tolerate Godfatherism,it's forbidden to our ears,do your turn and hand over we don't care if it will favour us

Yes we don't care because if that man won,am sure we would have felt it,but all we cared about is the betterment if imo state not our selfish gains,am proudly igbo,we are slave to no man,it's in our DNA,that's the major reason why we hate that jagabantis of Lagos apart from him being so corrupt.

Same reason we love obi , because he is for Nigeria and not only Igbos ,no living igbo politician can get block votes from igbo land except obi,I repeat, except PETER OBI

That man is a man I wish I can emulate but it's a hard task, a rare breed

APC-e-rats over to you,am waiting
I'm from Owerri. What would you call the change of governors in Abia state up to Ikpeazu? Not godfatherism? My people eeh. We too beat chest.

Then why single only Peter Obi ?
His style of opposition is opposition of condemn all and nothing is good. He used it to stir up hatred against the government by his followers irrespective of how good the actions are.

Reno just pointed out that if you condemn all policies of the government why is your business making so much that it has never made for years? This is contradiction.

Good opposition means condemn what is bad and suggest practicable alternatives and applaud what is good. Anything contrary is desperation for position.

It is very logical. Banks will do well, even when the economy is bad, because 1) there are opportunities for them in a bad economy 2) they operate...at least the good ones....under very careful rules and regulations 3) maybe insurance 4) Reforms from 1994-2007 essentially meant that you could not just go and open a bank without capital. 5) people in this country love to save their money, and most employers pay salaries through the banks.

First bank, Union Bank and old UBA did well in the SAP era , while most factories and businesses closed down (this was the time when people were complaining that factories and warehouses, at least in the Lagos area, were becoming churches) and car production at PAN kaduna went down from 200 cars a day in 1981 to less than 30 by 1995.

The real mark of an economy is its productivity. You guys are not asking your leaders why your government is not developing an economy that is, going to y'know....produce stuff that the world needs.

Don't tell me tinubu is doing something. He is doing what his predecessors did. He is not making the hard decisions.
The money in the banks where does it come from? From the air?

If the monies in the banks are not lent out where will the banks make money from?

Will companies borrow if they have no need for the money? How will they repay? I can go on and on.

Infact any BABY banker, accountant and economist that reads this your submission will not bother to reply. They will just waka pass because it makes no economic sense.

Are there not other banks, why didn't he ask why they haven't failed either?

This discussion is a very petty one from Reno, let Reno go to his hometown and count how many businesses that have closed down or still running since Tinubu came on board or is he not concerned about his own people? When would he talk about the plight of his own people, always on Igbo matter and Peter Obi
Your line of argument has no weight and it's illogical.

Reforms that don't improve welfare of ordinary Nigerians is useless reforms. Govt is not about raising revenue and borrowing money
The genesis of what you are going through now came through your economy performing poorly almost at the point of halt such that Nigerian economy was rated lowly, foreign investors avoided us, existing companies started leaving, borrowing became very expensive but we had to borrow paying higher interest rates etc. The leaders padded the economy by making things look good through subsidy in various areas. They were afraid of the backlash if they take the right decisions. We were headed to the point of total collapse.

Way back in Jonathan's regime Okonjo-Iwuala raised the alarm but Jonathan was weak. World institutions warned. Someone came in and looked at the future and not the present of the country and decided to take that hard choice. The choice of course must come with pain but it will make the future bright. If this choice was made when economy was not totally down the pain would have been less.

OBJ to an extent cleared the old mess but he failed to prepare us for the future. He had thought that he would have used the third term to do this. Jonathan rubbished OBJ's cleansing. Buhari increased Jonathan's mess. This is the point that PBAT took over.

His choice was: continue on the old part and be temporarily popular and we grand to a halt or reverse the old order with pains and become for now unpopular but have Nigeria prepared for a sustainable future. He choose the latter.

I have taken time to explain this because people that are looking at politics do not understand why people like us support PBAT. I support his policies and not his person because I understand economics and finance.

There are a lot that he's not doing eg corruption, cost of governance and reduction of waste. But trust my word Nigeria is on track if we can drag what he is doing for the next six years and of course improve on those ones that he is not doing.

Very Interesting 🤔
A Former-Bank Director, had that Audacity to Write Off the $2.3 Million ( Dollars) Money 🤑,of Another Company- Owing Your Bank- just like that! Haba!!!
Is that the Process of Writing -Off Loan Facilities- of a Huge Amount,in a Bank?
Is that how NBillions Loan Facilities Are Written- Off,by one Single Man- a Director, who came from Another Bank, during Consolidation Exercise, when some of these Banks Being Acquired Did Not Even Worth it,but were Imposed,on the Acquiring Banks and that is Why Some Banks -don't Venture into Any Acquisition of Others ,during Bank Consolidation Exercises because of terrible things underneath.
Or Alternatively, may be the Boards of Directors Of the Bank,at that time -gave him Power to do so - for that is the Only thing that can save him with this Statement.
Imagine the Humongous NBILLIONS Value Of the Money $💰,at the time of Write- Off.
Na waoo!
Austin Obigwe has always been like this. He resigned from Citizens Bank as executive director to become Abacha man hiding his money all over the world. Together with Abacha family they awarded multimillion dollar contract to their company Harbour Engineering that had no office and personnel. The contract was the dredging of Imo River to provide shipping channel to ASCON in Ikot Abasi. When Abacha died he disappeared. The money was fully paid but no job was done.

He must have made a fortune from the Abacha loot. He must have converted some the monies that he hide for Abacha that the family and Nigeria might not know. Nigeria is a wonder.

If you are an economist you will understand how difficult it is to merge multiple exchange rates and allow it to float. To even go ahead to do the unthinkable by withdrawing subsidy on an essential item. This is double floatation that could have triggered hyperinflation. Most leaders will never have the will to try it.

Jamesclooney:
Renewed Hope or Ruthless Hardship? A Scorecard of President Tinubu @ 2

On May 29, 2023, Bola Ahmed Tinubu was sworn in as Nigeria’s 16th President inheriting a nation still reeling from a disputed election and grappling with deep-rooted structural and economic challenges. Despite succeeding an APC government he helped bring to power in 2015, he chose a counterintuitive campaign slogan: Renewed Hope, rather than a continuity agenda.

Two years later, there’s little sign of meaningful progress on the key issues that dominated the election campaign. In fact, when it comes to the economy and insecurity, one could argue the situation has actually deteriorated

1. ECONOMY: Reform or Ruin?

Tinubu’s most defining economic moves came within days of assuming office: the abrupt removal of petrol subsidies and the floating of the naira. These twin policies were hailed by international observers as necessary market corrections. But for the average Nigerian, they triggered a cost-of-living crisis of historic proportions.

Inflation soared, the naira plummeted, and purchasing power evaporated. While the government claims inflation is now easing and foreign reserves have rebounded

, the reality on the ground tells a different story. Food prices remain punishingly high, and the much-touted increase in state allocations post-subsidy removal has been largely neutralised by hyperinflation.

2. SECURITY: A Mixed Bag

Tinubu’s administration claims to have eliminated over 13,500 terrorists and made significant gains in the fight against insurgency. Yet, insecurity remains a daily reality for millions. Banditry, kidnapping, and communal violence continue to plague large swathes of the country (Benue, Plateau, Borno).

3. INFRASTRUCTURE: Misplaced Priorities?

Perhaps the most controversial infrastructure project under Tinubu is the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway—a 700km mega-road estimated to cost ₦15.6 trillion, amounting to 56% of the 2024 national budget. While the administration promotes it as a transformative initiative to boost connectivity and economic activity along Nigeria’s southern corridor, critics argue that beyond its staggering cost, the project reflects misplaced priorities. With countless major roads across the country in a terrible state of disrepair, many question whether such vast resources could have been better allocated to more urgent and widespread road projects.

4. STATE GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS: A Shrinking Space

The 2023 and subsequent off-cycle elections were marred by allegations of the famous IREV glitch, voter suppression, violence, and manipulation. The promise of free and fair elections remains unfulfilled. Many Nigerians feel disenfranchised, and trust in democratic institutions continues to erode as evidenced by the increasing voter apathy during state and local government elections.

Conclusion

At the halfway point of his presidency, Tinubu’s legacy remains up in the air. To the president’s supporters—whose numbers appear to be growing by the day despite the economic hardship and rising insecurity—the administration is on the right track, and its reforms are expected to yield results soon. Whether history will judge him as a reformer or a reckless gambler depends on what the next two years bring.

To his opponents, he is administration is failing and they’re vowing to make Tinubu a One Time President (OTP).

For now, while the president continues to gain defectors from the political class, ordinary Nigerians continue to wait—some with hope, others with growing disillusionment about the rest of his term and the looming 2027 election.
In years to come you will hear experts and informed opinion leaders praise this regime. His opponents know this truth but they have to play politics. No leader in Nigeria has been this courageous.
