Kitwe pastor turns into a snake during prayer, residents burn church

RESIDENTS of Kitwe’s Buchi-Kamitondo township yesterday ran amok and set ablaze a Faith Deeper and Understanding Ministries (FDUM) church after word went round that its pastor had allegedly turned into a snake during his healing prayer session for the sick.

The angry residents, who stormed the church around 10:00 hours, threw stones at the building before looting it.
The attack left the congregants bewildered as they scampered for safety.
Some congregants quickly mobilised and evacuated the “patients” from the church building which was under siege from the angry mob.
The crowd grew in number and entered the church in a bid to have a glimpse of pastor Anthony Musuku who had allegedly turned into a snake.
FDUM treasurer Samuel Mvula said allegations that pastor Musukwa had turned into a snake are false and a ploy by his “rivals” to bring him down.



The instant justice mob later set the church building on fire and reducing it to ashes.
Five vehicles at nearby Kalesto Motors garage in the church premises also caught fire before a team of firefighters from Kitwe City Council and Mopani Copper Mines arrived at the scene.
A check by a Daily Mail team found police officers patrolling the township while the church building was reduced to rubble.
Police officers in full riot gear fired tear gas at the crowd but the angry residents retaliated with stones at the advancing law enforcers.
Copperbelt commissioner of police Joyce Kasosa said in an interview yesterday that three people were apprehended in connection with the riot.
Ms Kasosa said the residents accused Pastor Musuku of changing into a snake and practising satanism.
She named those arrested as Elasta Mtonga, Lizar Mwansa and Cecilia Mwango, all of Buchi-Kamitondo township.
“Yes, I can confirm that we had a fracas in Buchi-Kamitondo after people heard that there was a pastor who allegedly turned into a snake. Three people have been arrested,” Ms Kasosa said.
Firefighters, who went to put out the fire at the church building, were not spared by the irate residents who pelted them with stones.
Kitwe chief fire officer Rabson Mbawa, who was found at the scene, said the angry mob also damaged the fire engine in the fracas.
He, however, said the firefighters later returned to the scene under police escort.

In Nigeria, there are a lot of Churches of which some of these places of worship are privately founded and owned while some were founded by the White Men who brought the gospel into Africa. Just as the churches are much, there is one thing that seems to bring differences between all of these Cathedrals and that is the doctrine.

However, it is with this regard that we decided to share and present to you some popular churches in Nigeria that don't use the drum set during their services. Although, these churches make use of other musical instruments during praises or worship but the use of drum sets is barred.


1. Deeper Life Bible Church (DLBC)



One of the popular Nigerian churches that frown against the use of drum sets is the Deeper Life Bible Church that's is founded by Pastor Williams Folorunsho Kumuyi. The Church doctrines allow for the use of strings instruments, wind instruments but drums aren't allowed.


As a matter of fact, the Choir of the ministry ministers their songs using the Orchestra form and instruments like the Organ, Piano, Saxophone, flute, trumpets, and others is used. Both the men and women of the ministry play the instruments during the choir ministration.


2. Mountain of Fire And Miracle Ministry



Just like the Deeper Life Bible Church, the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministry that was founded by Pastor D.K Olukoya don't use drum sets during their choir ministrations. Although, the church uses beats and styles that have been recorded on the keyboard but th

The hymns, worship, and praises rendered in the church are done using the acapella or better still, an orchestra method. Viumpets, Viola, double st, rings bass, and percussion is used.


3. Jehovah Witness

Another church denomination that frowns against the use of drum sets during church services is the Jehovah's Witness. The church makes use of the Orchestra method during ministration and music isn't that important in the ministry rather evangelism is the key.


4. The Apostolic Faith Church

The last church on our list is the Apostolic Faith Church. Just like the other churches listed above, the church doctrine as well doesn't give room for the use of drum sets and this has prompted the use of only the wind instrument, strings instruments, and others during their ministration.

Regina has confessed that she exposed multiple men to HIV in the past. She says that she got to know about her status when she was only 8 years old, just a short while after her mother died. She could get frequently sick and when doctors conducted a HIV test, it came out positive.



She decided to ask the doctor why she was given many medications every month when she was 13 years old. He sat her down and gently explained that she was HIV-positive and needed to take her medications on a daily basis.

Regina hung around with some girls who were stressed out, and as a result, she became pregnant again, despite the fact that some guys refused to use protection even after she informed them of her situation.



She claims that when her baby became ill and she didn't have the money to send her to the hospital, she opted to take her to the church, where the pastor prayed for her and she awoke and began walking.


Regina claims she is now a happy mother of two children and has begun producing songs to inspire those who are going through difficult times.

Insecurity: Why Nigerians should thank God for Buhari’s regime – Femi Adesina

Femi Adesina, President Muhammadu Buhari’s media adviser, has revealed why Nigerians still have reasons to thank God regardless of the spike in security issues witnessed in the country.

Adesina, while appearing on a Channels TV programme on Thursday morning, said things are lot better under the Buhari regime.

According to him, “As challenging as security is, even now, we are still not where we were.”

“You would look at some areas of security, if you are true and dispassionate and you will have cause to thank God that things are better in this area.



“There some areas of security where things are a lot better than they used to be. There are still some challenging areas but there is assurance that those areas will be sorted out within the lifespan of this administration,” Adesina said.

This is coming less than 24 hours after more than 70 schoolchildren were kidnapped in Zamfara State.

A former United States Ambassador to Nigeria, John Campbell has warned of a possible takeover the recently acquired Super Tucano fighter jets by bandits and terrorists.

Mr Campbell gave the prediction in the light of the fall of the Afghanistan government and the takeover of similar high-grade military jet fighter by the Talibans.

The U.S. had also sold 23 Super Tucanos to the Afghan government to combat the Talibans but the Talibans are now in control of at least one the assault jets following the collapse of Ashraf Ghani’s government.

“Though it seems unlikely at present, there is also the potential that a Super Tucano could fall into the hands of a jihadi terrorist group,” Mr Campbell wrote for CFR, citing instances of how terrorist groups seized other military equipment in Nigeria.



In August, a Nigerian Air Force fighter jet returning to base from a mission on the Zamfara-Kaduna border crashed under intense gunfire from bandits.

The pilot escaped by the whiskers, leaving the wrecked aircraft behind.

NAF officially inducted the six A-29 Super Tucano fighter jets on Tuesday, to aid its fight against insecurity in the country. Nigeria was said to have purchased the A-29s at about $500 million through Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programme. The American embassy in Abuja had described it as the largest sale in sub-Saharan Africa.


During the induction ceremony of the Super Tucano jets, U.S. Department of Defence leaders who were also present said that the “aircraft will assist the Nigerian Air Force in their fight against violent extremist organisations including the Islamic State West Africa Province.”

A statement by the embassy also disclosed that the U.S. is providing $36.1 million in infrastructure as support at the Kanji Air Base, where the Super Tucanos will be housed.

Additionally, 64 Nigerian pilots have been trained at an American air force base on how to handle the aircraft.

Mr Campbell also expressed worries on whether the aircraft will be used to combat terrorism or used against other targets such as “the Biafran agitators or Delta militants.

“Now that the Super Tucanos are part of the Nigerian Air Force, an issue will be how they are used. Will they be used only against jihadi terrorists in the North, or will there be the temptation to use them against other targets, such as Biafran separatists, Delta militants, or even cattle rustlers? Broader use increases the potential for civilian casualties.

“A Biafran separatist movement, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is suing to block the sale in a Washington, D.C. court,” he added.

The Nigerian government has over time relied on U.S. arms and military equipment sales to help combat insecurity. While the country battles a myriad of security challenges, critics and rights organisations oppose the sales of the aircraft to Nigeria, citing the Buhari regime’s constant abuse of human rights.

Yusuf Gagdi, a member of the house of representatives, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to “show leadership” and rise to the task of protecting lives and property in the coumtry.
The lawmaker said the strategies adopted by the Buhari administration have failed and cannot guarantee the safety of Nigerians
Gagdi a lawmaker from Plateau state and member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said this in a letter addressed to the president.
“The issue of insecurity has reached a point where the current strategies being adopted by your administration have failed and are in no way adequate to guarantee safety,” the letter read
“As it is, they can no longer hold water in a cup let alone in a basket. The gaps are becoming wider by the day with serious concerns such as the plight of many school children still in the den of captives; brazen daylight attacks on communities and travellers which have become almost unabated; the recent shameful raid on the highly fortified Nigeria Defence Academy, (NDA) Kaduna; and the metropolitan attacks in Jos, Plateau state among others. All these have heightened fears of insecurity in Nigeria.
“The abysmal budgetary allocations and releases to the Armed forces and other security organisations leave less to be desired in transforming the law enforcement agencies towards becoming much more efficient and proactive in addressing insecurity challenges in the country”.
The lawmaker said the “amnesty to repentant Boko Haram fighters under Operation Safe Corridor policy even when many displaced Nigerians have not been adequately rehabilitated and reintegrated in their homeland is torturing to the psyche of many Nigerians”.
Gagdi said Plateau, known as the home of peace and tourism, is now consumed by “killings and mayhem” because of the “laxity of leadership” at the centre of governance
“However, the resurgence of killings and mayhems that have visited the state in the last few weeks might have revealed a laxity of leadership at the centre in being proactive towards addressing justly and equitably reported cases of attacks and threats to lives and properties,” he said
“Today, the externalities of the nature of insecurity in Plateau points to the failure of Your government to deal decisively with the factors that have seemingly become indicative of rising animosity, mutual suspicion, religious fault lines and the dangerous perception of the “them” and “us” syndrome”.

“It is thus unfortunate and unacceptable for my people and indeed the good people of Plateau State to continue to experience unprovoked recrudescent attacks on their communities.

Gagdi said Simon Lalong, governor of Plateau, has made efforts in tackling insecurity in the state, adding that the support of the federal government is needed
“Whereas the governor has tried in the last six years to ensure some peace and stability and the governor has repeatedly solicited for your kind support in logistics and actual security interventions, it behoves on me as a representative of the people to follow suit by reiterating on a general note that the current federal governments’ strategies towards addressing the spate of insecurity across the country are no longer effective and have failed to deal squarely with the challenges of banditry, kidnapping and other forms of insecurity,” he said.

President Muhammadu Buhari's spokesperson, Femi Adesina, says the public reaction to the attack on the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) base in Kaduna State this week is further proof the country is filled with people who simply hate the government.

Two military officers were killed and one was abducted by terrorists who invaded the facility early on Tuesday, August 24, 2021.

The attack has attracted widespread condemnation, a new low in the escalation of insecurity that has ravaged the country.



The Presidency has pushed back on the public reaction, suggesting that the attack was orchestrated to embarrass the president.

Adesina reinforced this position in an opinion article he posted on Thursday, August 26, accusing the media and analysts of painting a picture of humiliation of the military.

"Watching, listening to, and reading all the deliberate obfuscation of the matter reinforces the conviction once again that our country is filled with haters of government, of humanity, of good, and even of God.

"They deliberately muddy the waters, rejoice at evil and all forms of iniquity," he wrote.

The presidential aide noted that the current government has improved the nation's security situation since 2015, and adapted well to new challenges that have since emerged.

He said criminal gangs and terrorists across the country have recently been on the backfoot, and that the NDA attack is an attempt to paint a false picture of the government's efforts.

Adesina described Nigerians as 'ungrateful', 'unthankful', and 'ungracious' for not rallying around the military during times of trouble like this week.



He said the attack is only a temporary dampener, and echoed President Buhari's words that it'll boost the morale of troops to overcome insecurity.

"We will not pump discouragement into our troops, nor into a government working hard to improve our fortunes, despite the strong winds of adversity," he said.

The Federal Government has struggled to contain the wave of violence that has affected many parts of the country, especially over the past couple of years.

A total of 3,133 people were killed across the country between April and June 2021 in violent incidents including terror attacks, abductions, and gang clashes.

296 of those killed were identified as security agents working for different agencies in the Army (155 deaths), the Police Force (133), and others.

A yet-to-be identified helicopter has reportedly shot at a local passenger boat travelling from Port Harcourt to Bonny in Rivers State.

There are fears of casualties, with some occupants severely injured and rushed to the hospital.

An eye witnesses at the Bonny-Nembe waterside where the boat took off from in Port Harcourt, told newsmen that there were casualties.

While expressing shock over the incident, he said that the boat conveyed passengers and foodstuff.

DivinevibezTV gathered through PUNCH how local boat that just left here to Bonny, within the Treasure Island area, a chopper or I will call it a flight helicopter, just came behind, went very low and started shooting at the wooden boat.
“From the information we got from a boat driver, there were passengers in the boat. The boat also contained foodstuff such as garri, rice and other items.

“Everyone knows that is the route transporting foodstuff to Bonny. Some people died in the boat,” he claimed

When contacted, a spokesman of the state Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, said that he had yet to get the report and asked our correspondent to call back later.

A Man identified as Patrick Markson has allegedly killed himself right after he murdered his wife. This happened on thursday morning in their home in Yenegoa. The saddest part is that the couple has 6 children together and they will be orphans from now onward.
Patrick’s wife is Identified as Hannah Markson and she was 35 years old before she died. The Woman was from Okotiama community in Yenagoa, the state capital of Bayelsa

A witness shared what he knows about the relationship between Mr Patrick and his Wife before their death. According to the witness Identified as Mr Victor Kubor, he explained that Mr Patrick previously complained about having issues with his Wife 2 weeks ago. He explained that he was surprised to hear that the couple had died because he promised to talk to Mr Patrick before his death.

Mr Victor revealed that it was one of his friends that even called to inform him that Mr Patrick and his Wife were dead. The man said that Mr Patrick beat up his wife until she died, then he proceeded to drink sniper (Insecticide) after commiting the terrible crime. 

The sister to late Mrs Hannah revealed that her sister had no issues and she was a gentle lady. She further explained that they were both frying Garri together the previous day when her sister’s husband called them, Mr Patrick informed his Wife to bring Garri home for their consumption. Later in the morning she received a call from her sister’s son telling her Husband has kill his wife and He Self
The deceased have turned their 6 children into orphans and some of the kids are still going to school. This will definitely affect their children alot in life because it is not easy to lose one’s parents at the same time. Hopefully the family members will be able to cater for them and treat them well.

Through the National Broadcasting Commission, the Buhari government is set to wield the ‘big stick’ against the television station.
The Muhammadu Buhari regime is subtly moving to sanction a media organization, Channels Television, and arrest some of its journalists over recent interviews aired by the platform which are considered to be anti-government.

SaharaReporters learned that through the National Broadcasting Commission, the Buhari government is set to wield the ‘big stick’ against the television station.




“Buhari attacks Section 39(1) of the constitution – the government plans to shut Channels TV and arrest pressmen. In a dangerous regression to Decree Number 4, the Buhari Government, using NBC, has ordered the closure of Channels TV and also ordered the arrest of the station's journalists for interviewing Governor Ortom who brought up the story of Buhari Fulanisation agenda, and a guest who revealed that people who are high up in the Buhari government are sponsors of Boko Haram,” a top source revealed.

“The government did not refute facts advanced by the guest, Commodore Kunle Olawunmi (retd.), that the government has the names of sponsors linked to the conviction of Boko Haram sponsors in the United Arab Emirates.



“Rather than provide a concrete refutation, the government is trying to gag the media by attacking the constitutional rights of the media and the journalist to practice their profession unfettered,” the source added.

Another source familiar with the order stated that the Buhari government had issued a directive to the NBC to sanction Channels TV for airing the two “unpleasant” interviews.

“Channels TV license is to be suspended by the Federal Government over the interview of Governor Ortom and retired naval personnel. There is also an order for the arrest of journalist Chamberlain and his colleagues, who are anchors of the program.

“They are to be brought to Abuja tomorrow,” the source stated.

This is not the first time the NBC would suspend media organizations under the repressive Buhari regime.

In 2019, the commission suspended Daar Communication’s AIT in the heat of the run-off to the 2019 general elections for being too critical of the Federal Government.

Also in April 2021, NBC suspended Channels Television for airing an Indigenous People Of Biafra interview.



NBC had said the IPOB spokesperson made derogatory and misleading statements about the Nigerian Army.

According to the commission, airing the interview breached the broadcast code. The NBC slammed a fine on the broadcasting company to the tune of N5million.

Again, traders and residents of Onitsha the commercial centre of Anambra state have deserted markets, streets and roads in disobedience to the suspension of Monday weekly sit-at-home earlier declared by Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) over the detention its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

IPOB since last week announced the suspension of the sit-at-home and warned that anybody caught trying to enforce it would be regarded as criminal and should be arrested by the security operatives.

But in stiff disobedience to the suspension, traders and other residents remained at home, saying that they will continue to observe the sit-at-home until Nnamdi Kanu is released from detention unconditionally.

Our Correspondent who monitored the situation in Onitsha reports that all the major markets including Main Market, banks, parks, some filling stations were shutdown due to fear of unknown.



Also major roads leading to Main Market Onitsha such as Old Market, New Market, Venn Roads were deserted as young boys turned the roads to football pitches.

Although, there were vehicular movements, tricycles and other commercial vehicles were seen operating randomly with few passengers.

At post office old market road Onitsha, some suspected IPOB members stopped some tricycles from operating which attracted some residents who condemned their actions, saying that si-it-home supposed to be voluntary and not by coerce.

Also at Santiz street off Venn road hoodlums attacked some street shop owners who opened their shops for business.

At Upper Iweka and Bridgehead Onitsha most of motor parks were shutdown, few vehicles were seen going in or out of Onitsha to Asaba.

A trader Mr. Uche Nwogah said that the exercise has been hijacked by hoodlums who has sized the opportunity to rob and maim innocent citizens in the name of enforcing the sit-it-home.

“It is due to fear of these hoodlums going around to intimidate, rob and attack people that made many people not to open their shops again. We are aware that IPOB has suspended the sit-at-home but we are afraid. So, we need security backup to restore normalcy in major markets because people are nit safe to do business on Monday”



A resident Friday Onuorah said that the sit-at-home will continue until federal government release Nnamdi Kanu from DSS custody.

“Why should they abducted him since and kept him in DSS cell like a criminal. He did not commit any crime rather than condemning the marginalization of Igbo people and agitating for secession due to ill treatment meted against Ndigbo by the government in power” he said.

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has stated that what Nigerians need in 2023 is someone who can unity the security and tackle Insecurity.

The governor called for the jettisoning of zoning, stressing that such is not found in the constitution of the All Progressives Congress (APC) or the 1999 constitution.

Speaking in an interview with Daily Trust published on Sunday, the APC chieftain stated that today there is poverty everywhere and insecurity is almost everywhere.

According to him, if the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which has been tagged a failure had practice zoning, then the ruling APC should not follow such part.

He said: “I have gone through our party’s constitution and did not see where zoning of the presidency is stated. I do not know of any party’s constitution where zoning is stated. I have also read the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and did not see where zoning was mentioned. So we should not import what is not in the constitution.

“If a party like the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which we say did not govern this country properly, practised it and it seemingly did not work, why should we consider it? We are practising democracy, and from what we know, zoning is against its principle. It is purely about number and merit.”

Yahaya Bello urged the ruling party to simply look at who can do the job and pull Nigeria out of the woods –someone who will unite and secure the country.

Nigeria’s former Head of State, Ibrahim Badamusi Babangida (IBB), has denied having plan to Islamise Nigeria when he enrolled the country as a member of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

The former military leader who recently clocked 80, made the clarification during an interview on Channels TV.

The OIC consists of about 50 countries like Saudi Arabia and Pakistan and Nigeria became its member in 1986 under IBB.

The OIC models the collective voice of Muslims as well as protects the interest of the Muslim world.

IBB’s registration of Nigeria as a member of the OIC had at different times sparked criticisms from individuals and groups who argued that the move contravened provisions of the Nigerian 1999 Constitution.

But the retired army general said, ” No government has ever said so (that Nigeria is an Islamic state), including my own government.”

He explained that, “We never said Islam is the official religion of Nigeria. But our constitution allows us to enter any organisation for the benefit of the country or for the benefit of the people of the country.”

Nigeria’s membership of the Islamic organisation had since resulted in several criticisms from religious groups and Civil Society Organisations.

Some groups have accused the former Head of State of engineering a religious crisis in the country by that singular act.

“The relationship between Christians and Muslims deteriorated when Nigeria was admitted as a full member of Organisation of the Islamic Conference,” said DR Maryam Abdullahi, a delegate representing Civil Society Organisation, at the 2014 National Conference.

Most recently (May 26), the IOC called on Nigeria to join other Islamic countries to punish Israel for launching rockets into Gaza, Palestine, in retaliation to rockets fired into the country by the Islamic Resistance Movement popularly called Hamas.

But the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) which is the apex body of Christians in the country criticised the call and warned President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration against taking sides with the IOC.

CAN had said: “We are worried that Nigeria which was wrongly labelled an Islamic State because of her unlawful membership of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) has been taking side with the Palestinians since the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari. Hence why the Turkish President asked Nigeria to identify with the Palestinians.

“This will never happen in Benin Kingdom, we are Benin,” Ugbo added.

Also reacting, the Coordinator-General of Great Benin Descendants (GBD), Imasuen Izoduwa said the organization would meet and lock up the hotel-venue of the coronation, for allowing “such nonsense” in the land.

“We will meet later today so we can lock up that hotel by tomorrow or next for allowing such nonsense in our land. Enough is enough, I will no longer take any of this in our Kingdom,” he said.
