But a few things are in order. You do have a few points. But I find the online reactions to this whole matter interesting - very, very interesting. A couple of years ago - Hadji Bukar Ibrahim (father, husband of 3 wives, two term senator and governor of Yobe state) was captured in a rather compromising video with two women - allegedly women of easy virtue. That should have been a death sentence (both politically and literally) for him according to the religious law he signed as governor in the early 2000s. But what happened? Mr. Ibrahim asserted that he had a right to privacy and the matter died there. On this same Nairaland, a large number of people were indifferent to that scandal or amazingly, sided with Hadji Ibrahim. The threads are still there. Strange that Mr. Kanu (who as far as I am aware has not claimed to be a moral or religious leader) is being raked across the coals while Mr. Ibrahim got off scot free. Just saying. |

As some posters have said, the violence which claimed this man's life is nothing new. It flares up every now and then. The question is: why is this violence acceptable to the 'sons of the soil'? Why should cultists, transport union members and other undesirables continue to take away the blood, sweat, toil and lives of productive members of society? The man is lying there with his despatch riders kit and helmet. Who will speak for him and demand justice when those who run Lagos approve of the violence that claimed his life? |

It took 3 months of rigorous follow up before i get paid. I had to visit the insurance company's office on a weekly basis for 3 months before i got paid. Iamgrey5: You don't know Iwo road
What is the link ɓetween Ring road and Iwo road. ?
Even if you are coming from Lagos, you head to straight to challenge, you don't need to go to Iwo road
Orita challenge is far closer to Lagos/Ibadan express way than Iwo road.
from challenge you go to any place you plan to visit in Ibadan
So I don't know what you are blabbing about sir
How is accusing people of Ignorance or obvious Bigotry an insult sir ?
When is stating the obvious an insult?
And yes I believe you are hallucinating like you claimed with your explanation of Ibadan roads
No insults just stating the obvious ^^^ I am still waiting for your photographs, Sir. When next it rains, take photographs of Iwo Road roundabout and paste them here...if you are bold enough. I can assure you sir, when the rainy reason really kicks off, the roundabout will indeed be something to behold. My route into Ibadan from Lagos leaves me with two options: after passing through where the old toll gate used to be on the express, go to Challenge through the exit ramp on the right OR continue straight on till I get to Iwo road roundabout much, much further ahead. The Challenge option eventually takes me past the Oyo State High Court of Justice, D Rovans, etc. all of which are on the Ring Road axis...Do you now understand why I mentioned Ring Road?? Or you need an even lengthier geography lesson? Like I said earlier, you have no argument. You carefully avoided the key issues on the thread and instead chose to create a diversion about entry routes into Ibadan. . Nice try, but it won't work. You really do need to update your trolling techniques - the ones you used here have been played out completely. Picking fights here and there and making endless excuses for leadership failure will not rescue Ibadan (or any where else in Nigeria) from neglect or regression. Anyway, what did I expect? Any one who would put forward Shoprite (a shopping mall chock full of imported consumer goods ) as an index of development (any where in Nigeria) should be avoided like the plague. Do have a good day, Sir. |

I never said the infrastructure in Ibadan is superb, I only said it is better than most states in southern Nigeria.
And the road in Iwo road is good, I am in Ibadan for the weekend, I promise to take a picture and post it here by tomorrow. ^^^ On this thread you have accused people of onanism, ignorance, bigotry and hypocrisy. And that was in your first few posts! And according to you up there, I am hallucinating . This is what people say when they do not have a convincing argument. I know Iwo road well. Quite well in fact. To beat the insane traffic there, i sometimes prefer to go through Ring Road when coming into Ibadan - even though that route is longer. The last time I tried passing through the Iwo road axis to link Basorun - I was coated with dust from the road works going on there - the road works that never ends. Iwo road roundabout is not an example of good infrastructure. It is not. Call a spade a spade. |

You will not have any economy or any naira of money to spend if you have no country. ^^^ Point of correction. Not every country in the world has an army. At least 20 countries do not have a standing army. These countries have various arrangements for national defence. Some of them rely on defence pacts with neighbours or regional hegemons for security. Others rely on their police forces for internal security as well as for protection against external aggression. And it seems to have worked out well for them. |

I said on here years ago that there is a deeply troubling pyschosexual component to military brutality in Nigeria - both for the victims and the aggressors. It is very disturbing how the victims - sometimes grown men with children - often recount with glee their humiliation by functionally illiterate soldiers who wouldn't be able to cut it professionally anywhere else. S and M games. Modified: It is even more shameful that the fellow beaten up by the so called "soldier" is physically disabled. He has some kind of palsy - evident in how his right hand hangs. |

That is double speak. People gladly and willingly give way to doctors and nurses when they need to get stuff done. It is a labour of love, so to speak. And why not? Doctors and nurses don't go round flogging people with their stethoscopes. They don't go round stabbing anyone with syringes. No sir. These guys sacrifice everything to keep you safe, then you come and be dragging chance to collect money from ATM with such a fellow who lay down his life to let you have peace. Some soldiers are on duty. They take permission to come to town and withdraw cash so as to give to their family at home and return to duty post. Then you want him to remain standing with you. Also, the security risk of standing unarmed in present day Naija is huge. Though, one single slap is enough instead of faxing the man as if he's a criminal. Because I've never in my life seen a soldier forcefully trying to withdraw on another person's turn. They'll always take permission to do so, and I'm sure many haven't seen a soldier intimidate someone in an ATM queue before. ^^^ There may be more to this story. I don't know because I wasn't there. What I do know is that Nigerian military do this kind of nonsense frequently so it isn't hard for me to believe the story. A naval rating brutalized a pregnant woman in Lagos some years ago over some minor misunderstanding in a bus queue - beat the woman up till she collapsed. The story hit social media in no time. That sailor was very, very lucky he wasn't lynched - things were heading in that direction and the fellow knew it - he quickly started calling his colleagues for back up because some men in the crowd were threatening to gut him. I need your expert opinion cos this is the first time i am thinking of buying a BMW. Thanks for your quick response. ^^^ With his theory, your brother may be on to something - maybe though not quite in the way he intended. BMW, VW Porsche etc. mainstreamed the German design trend of placing batteries in the passenger compartment - in the cargo area or under the driver's seat. It is a controversial practice - as shown in the sad, unresolved death of Latifa Lincoln and her 3 year old daughter from hydrogen sulphide poisoning, with a faulty car battery being the suspected cause of death in that case. Electrical faults may be the least of one's problems when it comes to this strange practice of putting car batteries in the passenger cabin. Progress or two steps backwards? |

In the write up, Odumakin quotes former Oyo state governor (now late) Lam Adesina as confirming he seized GCI school records (for reasons undisclosed) and kept them until the eve of his departure from office. Why? It seems incredible that Lam Adesina and Bola Tinubu would conspire to destroy the career of an apparently innocent man (the GCI Principal, Ademola) to satisfy Tinubu's empty, worthless vanity. If all this is true, then Lam is surely answering for it wherever he is now. The only question I have now is how vigorously GCI old students fought this matter when it was hot.
