chygoz3:^^^^ Good job you are doing on this thread by letting people know that they have options and do not have to accept shoddy treatment. I went through the entire process online (like I always do) and I was given an interview appointment date on my passport e-application form. I will be going for my appointment in a couple of days. I am assuming you were also given an interview date on your application and you went along with your documents (photos, passport payment acknowledgement slip, application form etc.) on your interview date? I do not intend to go to that place more than once before collection of the passport. |

olapluto:^^^ You are free to support whom you wish Sir. That inalienable right is yours to do with as you deem fit. However, kindly cease the cheap emotional blackmail. If others choose not to support (and with good reason too!) those whom you support, then respect that decision. It is only fair and just that you do so. Cameroonian troops have nothing to do with it. (Note that this is not in any way an endorsement of the IMN and the actions of its members). |
![]() I will be ready for these people (Ikoyi Immigration/Passport Office) this time. My last visit they got away with murder. After making veiled and open threats that my passport renewal application would remain in limbo forever, they compelled me to drop some change. I was forced to play ball because I had travel plans that could not be rescheduled. This time I am ready to get into the mud pit with them for as long as they wish. Also visualize the craziness of an armed immigration police (IP) officer on duty, reeking of alcohol at 2pm in the afternoon and threatening to shoot a passport renewal applicant over some imaginary offence. I saw all of this at the Ikoyi passport office on my last visit - and the senior officers in that place stood by and chose to do nothing while all this nonsense was going on. Instead of doing their jobs quickly and efficiently, immigration officials were more concerned with asking members of the public - "who is helping you?" as a prelude to the inevitable requests for bribes. ![]() I will probably have to make plans for twitter communication with their superiors in Abuja - time will tell how things turn out next week. |
Interesting. In the mind of the Nigerian government worker (police, FRSC, etc.) what makes a tyre or spare tyre "valid"? Is it only some arbitrarily chosen age limit? Or is it treadwear/tread depth - you know, the way serious people do it? |
![]() Very strange comments by Mr. Akinrinnade. . And as is their custom, he had to drag civilians into a matter that civilians have no hand in. According to this man, the records were collected by the Army and the records have now disappeared. Just like a ship carrying tens of thousands of illegally bunkered fuel disappeared from the custody of the navy some years ago. So where do civilians come into this matter?Leave civilians out of your rubbish Sir. |

Sorry I can't help you, OP. My Peugeot days are long behind me.. ![]() What drew me to your thread was the counterfeit 'purfloxx' filter. Reminds me of fake Peugeot filters I bought way back in the day - they had 'fabrique for Franch' (instead of 'fabrique en France') stamped on the filter and packaging. I still smile whenever I remember this. There's a Peugeot owners thread here - why don't you check them out there? Someone there should be able to help you. |
![]() Look at all this blood being spilled at will. All over the country. And Nigerians say they have a government. ![]() Time will tell. |
![]() A lot of misinformation on this thread. Most modern cars require coolant. It is recommended by the car makers themselves. As the OP said - coolant provides better protection than water if the vehicle overheats (since coolant has a higher boiling point than water) and it also inhibits corrosion (unlike ordinary water) in the radiator and water pump. Those people who say there's no point in using coolant should wait a while - it may take time but the day will surely come when the water pump will fail because of corrosion - or the radiator will develop leaks and fail for the same reason. Those who had bad experiences with coolant should examine their experiences critically. First of all, not all coolants are the same - the quality of commercially available coolant, just like motor oil, varies considerably. Consult your owners manual for advice. If your car requires a non-silicate, non-borate coolant and you don't comply, things WILL go wrong. If you mix blue, orange, green, pink and red coolants - some of which have significantly different chemical properties, things WILL go wrong. It you dilute your coolant beyond the coolant manufacturer's recommended 50:50 de-ionized water/coolant ratio, things WILL go wrong. And so on. The cooling system is a closed system and any drop in coolant levels should be investigated since the system is not designed for frequent top ups. Reasons for a drop in coolant levels could vary from faulty radiator/expansion tank cap covers to loose or poorly fitted radiator hose clamps. Once the cause of the leak is tracked and fixed, coolant levels remain stable for several years without any problems or a need to top up. A little research and education goes a long way. |
OP, what's your take on motor oil made for a particular engine manufacturer? I have some oil made for Ford engines (5W 20 specific 948 B) that meets the following OEM approvals (FORD WSS M2C 948B; JAGUAR LAND ROVER – STJLR.03.5004). I assume it is safe to use this oil for a toyota requiring an SL rated oil of the same viscosity? My layman's take on this is that since Ford's 948 B is one of its most recent (if not the most recent) approvals, this oil should be fine for use in an older toyota engine. But then again, I could be wrong. P.S. There are a couple of things about your enterprise I want to discuss privately via PM. |

radautoworks:^^^ Exactly. Very odd. I've never used their products b4 but will try them out very soon. |
thebigkendo:^^^ Funny enough I now check oil when the engine is warm. For donkey years I checked when cold only to read a couple of Toyota owners manuals this year and they all advise to check oil when warm! Modified: it does make sense to check when warm (5 to 10 minutes after switching engine off) - this gives a more accurate picture of oil levels since the oil has gone through the entire engine . |
radautoworks:^^^ It gets even more interesting. For years, I thought all 0W 20 oils were synthetic. I have seen that info repeated on quite a number of auto web sites. Yet I just saw a couple of 0W 20 LM oils with 'synthetic technology' or synthesese technology (whatever they mean) labels. Whether 'synthetic technology' means semi-synthetic or not isn't clear - what is very clear though is that there are some other LM oils that are clearly labelled 100% synthetic without any ambiguous phrasing. So was i wrong all along about 0W 20 oils or LM is confused? |
thebigkendo:^^^ I would go with the engine maker's instructions too. I just find it incredible that a major lubricants player would make such a controversial statement. Virtually all the lubricants marketers recommend conformity with motor manufacturers recommended oil grade quality AND viscosity. This is the first time I'm seeing something like this. |
radautoworks:^^^ A major lubricants manufacturer seems to think viscosity isn't that important. https://www.liqui-moly.com/en/service/faq/faqtopic/motor-oil.html Goes against a lot we've heard in recent times ![]() |
thebigkendo:^^^ I thought along the same lines as you do - to the point where I took a calculated risk on changing oils (after several years of using oils with the wrong viscosity). Only for me to read a few days ago on liqui moly's site that viscosity isn't important? https://www.liqui-moly.com/en/service/faq/faqtopic/motor-oil.html ![]() A lot of ambiguous info out there... |
Do you have front brake calipers for Toyota Land Cruiser 2008 model (2UZ FE engine)? How much? |
Toyota delivers on time...nearly every time... |
The Land Cruiser - Toyota's longest running masterpiece?... Shattered the myth surrounding Land Rover/Range Rover , perhaps forever...Rumored to be made with a design brief of two and a half decades minimum expected useful life... The original senior 'bush taxi' - engineered to work reliably in the most hostile terrain. There is a reason why the UN, relief agencies etc. use Land Cruisers instead of G Wagons, M Classes, Range Rover Vogues or the Land Rover Discovery. Or the Audi Q7 and the BMW X5 ![]() They may be draped in leather and wood panelling now but Land Cruisers have not lost sight of their primary purpose from the very beginning -they get you from A to B without any fuss. They get the job done! Japanese (read: Toyota) quality control is a strange and beautiful thing... |
mayor2013:^^^ ![]() Does your customer still maintain that he/she serviced the car with synthetic oil religiously from the get go? |

Africans and useless arguments that contribute nothing to humanity and human development, I wonder if it is as a result of melanin, heavy carb diet, donkey sized genetals or the hot sun. The next leader of common wealth states (which controls at least 1,/3 of world trade) visited us, yet our concern is about who visited who and royal logistics rather than find a trade arrangement to lift us out of unemployment and extreme poverty
