You're not getting the picture I'm painting. The problem is not the bandicts and Boko haram. The problem is (1)there is a large number of people that are idle and doing nothing. Then there is (2) corruption where money meant to cater for these people is stoken by the elite. Then there is (3) social injustice where these same young, down trodden, neglected people are killed by the instruments of the state - police, Army for no reason. All 3 factors gave rise to Boko haram and bandicts in the north. Then you throw in the flow of arms from Libya.
The same cycle is playing out in the South East and they are at stage (3) where the army and pilice are killing innocent people in the name of IPOD. Weapons are already flowing into the region for the oppressed people to use in defending themselves. Anybody who is able to look at Nigeria's problems objectively without tribal or ethnic sentiments can see the root cause of these problems. But ordinary Nigerians are always clouded by ethnic and tribal sentiments. That's why its hard for them not to see beyond blaming one tribe or the other for their problems. It's a systemic problem that American weapons cannot solve.

I'm talking of American double standards whereby they said they won't allow Nigeria to acquire weapons to defeat bandits and terrorists because of Nigerian military human rights abuses, but the US is content with the same terrorists and bandits abusing those same human rights on a scale 1000 times worse than the military's abuses and excesses.

The US would rather terrorists kill thousands to punish a military that abuses a few hundred.

Their decision not to sell weapons to us makes perfect sense because those weapons are the tools the Nigerian elite use to entrench social injustice. Those weapons were used by the police to kill innocent and unarmed boko haram sect members in 2011. That was the origin of the boko haram insurgency. Same weapons were used to kill protesters in Lekki during endsars. The problem is not weapons or islam. The problems are poverty, corruption and social injustice. You can't fight those with weapons.

They don't use weapons to steal from us, they use the same votes we willingly gave them because of our own petty sentiments over tribe and religion and greed.

Lekki so-called killings is still debatable, no concrete evidence it happened beyond the claims of DJ Switch and co.

The number of people abducted, killed, maimed, and raped daily far supersedes whatever abuses the military perpetrates. The scales are tipped one way too far.
