you can withdraw your money, nobody will stop you. even if the bank was to be wound up, NDIC will still pay you your money eventually it will only just take time

as it is right now, you can walk into any of the bank branches and make withdrawal
PoliticsRe: 2 Year Rents Banned In Lagos, Landlords To Be Jailed For 3 Years. by walcolm(m): 11:05am On Aug 06, 2011
it is really horrible to read most of the comments in this thread, a government just passed a law that seemingly favors tenants and it is people who are tenants or leaving with someone who is a tenant that are already coming up with a thousand and one ways to sabotage the law angry

rather than think of ways to help the govt implement the law and make it work you are all whining,

with this loser attitude i think landlords just need to sit back and relax cos they have nothing to worry about, and i guess that is why there has been no formal protest from landlords since this law has been in the news
FamilyRe: Should Women Lose Their Individuality In Marriage? by walcolm(m): 12:41pm On Aug 04, 2011
Ujujoan:
I think you generalize when you say 'no woman will accept it'!

I'll be too glad to split the bills 50/50 if we'll split the chores 50/50. My arguemnt is that for ages now, men have been eating their cakes and having it! Women works as hard as men (sometimes more0 and yet for some reason, they are the designated housekeepers. That is the part I can Never understand about marriage!
if you put 50 on the table, im sure you can get all the house keeping help you need to do everything from sweeping to cooking and cleaning.

all over the western world, there are millions of women who have never boiled water in the life talkless of doing laundry. they elect to be equal to men and are willing to pay for it. they put 50 on the table and dont clean up after the man they're with cos thats part of the agreement. some dont even have children cos they know that it is impossible to share the pregnancy 50/50

my problem is that african women want to have this level of freedom but refuse to stand up and be a man.

if you want to have a traditional wedding and have dowry paid to your family, if you want to be wooed by a man so that people will not say u're desperate and running after a man. if you wont step up and propose marriage then dont turn around and demand equality

when african women grow the balls to be equal, they will not need to demand equal rights, you know why? because they are already equal to their men

great point there davidylan but one thing . . . and i'm not sure what you mean by
50:50 to bills and house stuff and the rest you do what you want without telling your wife?
what if you use the rest to pay for strip club shouldn't your wife say something about that?
going to a bar that offers strippers as entertainment is no different from watchin p0rn0graphy, note that the main issue in this discussion is not infidelity.
PoliticsRe: Row Over CBN Clause In Banking Rule - Sanusi Requiring "Sharia-Compliance"!!! by walcolm(m): 8:19am On May 23, 2011
people,

if we put the issues into perspective and separate them. NIFI is a good financial concept but tilting it in the direction of religion is not wholesome. that said, i dont think this is a good enough reason for Sanusi to be removed.

the man has done well despite our personal views on his handling of the rot in the banking sector, truth be told, the bank was in a terrible state and would have fu-ked everybody up if the guy had not taken the hard stance he took back in '09

@Thecongo

My brother's best friend works twice as hard but eats like an ant.
there's nothing on the list that said HARD WORK, so the fact that ur brother's friend works hard doesnt mean he has the 7 qualities listed above, being poor is as hard a work as being rich what counts are the other ingredients you put into the hard work

jennykadry:
@Thecongo

In a country like Nigeria, lots of men have got this qualities but with no kobo to their name due to hardship.

So yes I have seen men(both in nigeria and outside) with those qualities and no material/financial establishment to top it up with.
maybe u have seen a men with one, two or even three of the qualities listed but i can guarantee you have not seen a man with ALL seven qualities who is poor not even in a country like Sudan not to talk of Nigeria where there are countless opportunities to be rich

@Poster, i dont wanna know whether you have lost your job or the poorest man on earth.
All i know is you shouldnt sit down like a mumu and allow your inlaws insult you, not even her parents
For crying out loud you are the man of the house
A man's  diginity and respect from from the ability to stand firm, brave, and confident.
You will only make yourself look like a damn weakling (which they have taken you) if you dont speak up.
Your situation isnt the worse on earth as such dont let anyone look down on you, on you on yourself.
Afterall they enjpoyed the money with you when the salary was coming in.
If things don't change, KICK YOUR WIFE AND HER INLAWS OUT OF YOUR HOUSE and concentrate on yourself (working on

Go sort things out.
@kisskriss,

i assume you had a job before you married your wife and probably up until you had your first child, if now that you're going thru a down time, your wife's family want to take their daughter back, i will advise you to let them take her, at least now you know the type of family u married from.

if she chooses them over you, then you need to start questioning the basis of her love? for you

if she has paid the house rent and she says her family must come there and do/say whatever they like whenever they like, MOVE OUT of the place

but whatever you do, dont let your dignity be taken away from you, a man with no dignity cannot be a great man

there's a yoruba adage that say, what you will not condone as a rich man, you need to reject it as a poor man,

@b0bnel,

was suprised at how guys on here have been going off on different tangents due to a uduaghan sponsored newspaper story

that news publication is apparently achieving its objectives
PoliticsRe: Uduaghan Gets Four More Years In Office by walcolm(m): 4:52pm On Feb 24, 2011
the court ruling for the 5 governors will not affect Uduaghan's case because the constitutional amendment was before his own annulment.

the court's position was that the amendment was after the re-run of the election of those 5 states. that amendment was in July 2010 and it states that if an election is annuled and a re-run ordered, if the incumbemt still wins the election his previous time spent will automatically count towards his tenure, delta election was annuled in November 2010 and since Uduaghan still won the re-run, his previous years must count

@ arthur what you do is contact sterling registrars, with the indemnity for attached for replacement of certificate with the scanned copy you have make sure you use the same signature you used on lpo form. or u can go to their office in person with a copy of your id card and the form

their addy is

Sterling Registrars Limited,
Head Office,
24 Campbell Street,
Lagos.
Faxsad01) 2646582
Telsad01) 2806987, 7303445
http://www.sterlingregistrarsng.com

goodluck
problem with indemnity is that banks dont give it anymore and stockbrokers and insurance companies charge a shitload of money for it, my broker said i had to pay 10k for a signature on an indemnity form while an insurance company told me the minimum charge is 5k or a certain %age of the stockvalue whichever is more

is there any other way to get a cert replaced?

One Important player in the market that buyers and sellers always forget to keep regular contact with are the registrars to the stocks. in-case you don't know they verify these stocks before the brokers can talk of selling or buying. keeping in regular contact with them you can always verify what ever your brokers tell you. Most brokers these days have been observed to deceive their clients that are not knowledgeable in this field. Having frequent contact with the registrars you can know your actual total stock holdings, deals, dividends, e.t.c.
everytime i go to a registrar's office (i go regularly to chase my stocks and get the normal services registrars are willing to render shareholders), i see a crowd, so if you say folks are not keeping in touch with registrar, i dont seem to understand you

FamilyRe: Should The Man Bear The Whole Financial Expenses In The House? by walcolm(m): 10:40am On Feb 08, 2011
Ujujoan:
Good points here!

Except of course we know it just won't fly. People come everyday to complain about how the women are too career-oriented that they no longer have time for their families. Like the money they make are strictly for their make up . . .

Like you rightly pointed out, if women should contribute financiall, men should contribute equally to house chores . . . . in the spirit of equity!

It'll be very unfair if I have to wake up at night to feed the baby, wake up early to make breakfast, make dinner after work no matter how tired I am, go for shopping and do the laundry, and ensure the house is spic and span! And at the same time, contribute 50% of the family finances . . . while the man will contribute his own 50% and basically lay around the rest of the time! undecided
i think the point @Claus was raising in his post is that, if the woman spends as much time earning a living as the husband and contributes as much as the husband to the family purse, she would have EARNED the right to be relieved of half the domestic duties that is traditionally expected of the woman in the house

so if the woman chips in financially as well as the man, there's no reason why the husband will wait for her to get home before arranging dinner (if he gets home first) or refuse to help her in putting breakfast together

i am all for gender equality but i am baffled by the tendency of most women to want to be equal in some respect and not in others angry i.e. women want to be equal in earning power, decision making, domestic chores, politics but dont want to be equal in financial responsibility, is that not unfair?)
BusinessRe: Any Basis For Bank Debt Cancellation For Young Entrepreneurs? by walcolm(m): 12:58pm On Aug 04, 2010
naijacutee:
If all else fails, (which I hope it doesn't), one of the only (legal) ways of debt cancellation which I know of is filing for bankruptcy. When a person is declared bankrupt by the court, all their debts are wiped off and they have to start on a clean financial slate. Otherwise, I think they would need to find other ways of coming up with the money.
You must become penniless to qualify legally for bankruptcy! cry

1. you must be able to show negative balances in your accounts, you must not have a property or other assets in your name or
2. the value of any asset you have must be significantly smaller than your indebtedness such that when the assets are disposed of at the best prices, you will still be indebted beyond your capacity to pay back. usually, the court will grant your lenders rights to dispose off the assets and then order your debt to be written off.

i agree with you it takes less than 5mins to paste a sticker, but i dont think 'im a winner' sticker gets pasted within 4 days of buying a car, plus the fact that all the other markings on windows and windshield common with tokunbo are missing, less than 4 days after the car was brought in undecided

in 4 days you have a winners sticker and there's none of the toks stickers or writing common with newly imported vehichle on any of your windows? kinda curious dont u think?
