Thanks, what if this was a case whereby i made purchases for members of my family. Personaly i would not consider this multiple applications. All the same, thanks for your comments, the second opinion was very helpful
maybe if you provide more info about your particular situation it might help.

it is totally acceptable for you to submit applications on behalf of your family members, those return cheques will carry the name of those family members and you should still expect them but if you fill an application form in a family member's name and sign it with the same signature you used in signing your own form, that is still ground for disqualification because it can be argued that you are submitting multiple applications in different names!!! no 2 people are supposed to have the same signature. you are only allowed to sign for a child under 18yrs and in which case you will specify appropriately on the form that the application is for a minor

What are the chances of girls with bigggg nose cheesy getting a good fella because of the high competition for the few good men available
except your nose is so large it makes you look like a freak and people do a double take on you anytime you walk by, then the size of your nose is probably an issue only in your head and is not the reason you have not found a good guy to hook up with.

i will advise you focus on improving your personality to improve your chances rather than worry about your nose

Hi all,
I need an assistance in this respect. Most, at least 85% of my dangote return money in my brokerage account and my stockbroker is still awaiting two more
from the registrar. Inface, she is not sure if i was alloted any shears for those two or not. Actually, she returned three of my forms with no allotment nor intrest paid back on the shears.
Could someone kindly enlighten me if they could have returned some of the applications, and without any intrest. Also could it have taken so long to confirm the remaining two. I just need to be sure that someone is not using my money to trade while i pay intrest on it, and at the same time i do not want accuse without getting my facts rights.
I swift response will be appreciated from the thread as always
i expect u should know that if you send in multiple applications and the issuing house detects, they are required by law to disqualify your applications, so if you have sent in multiple applications and you are getting return cheques for the ful amount you paid without interest and no share allocation, it is because those applications were disqualified. they are not required to pay u any interest on those monies

HI GUYS,
WHY IS SHARE HOLDINGS VERIFICATION NECESSARY AND WHAT ARE THE PROCEDURES OF VERIFYING.
shareholding verification is not necessary it is SHARE CERTIFICATE verification that is necessary to guide against fraud. forging a paper certificate is not very difficult in lagos so, if you have a certificate that claims you have a holding in a particular company, it needs to be verified that you are the owner using your signature

i wont be suprised if the certs are ready, oceanic registrar work quite fast on certificate issues but if you have specified the appropriate CSCS no on your sibscription form, then look forward to it in your CSCS account soon.
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by walcolm(m): 2:27pm On Feb 10, 2008
@flaky,

as it has been pointed out, you need to understand that in an educated civilised world where the rights of the individual and groups are held sacrosanct, you are not judged by your intentions but by what you have been seen to have done!!! classic case in point is transcorp, a company that came to life based on good intentions but the company is not being spared right now because what they have done falls short of expectation of customers and stakeholders

my point is, it does not matter what your intentions are, you are judged by your actions!!! and when you receive those type of feedbacks (especially,-ve feedbacks), it is your duty to adjust as you go along and communicate appropriately with your stakeholders. no matter what zenith sec et al are doing in the background, if they dont put their clients in the know, there's no way those clients will put those things into consideration when they have to analyse the service they are receiving.

going forward, pls try not to make comments that hit back at individuals, just keep it to the issue being addressed
CrimeRe: Marital Rape by walcolm(m): 1:39pm On Feb 10, 2008
@All,

it is not ok for a man to force his wife to have sex with him BUT it is also not ok for a woman to refuse her husband sex!!!

sex is an integral part of a marriage and it is an entitlement of both partners in the marriage relationship.

just as the man should not refuse the woman sex, the woman should also not refuse the man sex whenever either of them demands it. the problem comes when either of the partners (most cases, the woman) try to use sex as a weapon or a leverage to get their way on some other issue of contention in the marriage. i'm not a pastor but if you put a religious and cultural spin on this you will find that refusing to have sex with your husband in a marriage relationship is a misuse of sex and that leads to frustration in the man and that might culminate into what you guys are calling rape

HELP! i bought 10,000 units of access bank through my broker and i'm yet to hear a word from them as per my share certificate or returned money (if any). My b.p is starting to rise. can anyone update me on info regarding the offer i.e dispersed certificates or returned money. please help before i end up at uselu due to 2 much thinking. abeg
cool down, your allocation is officially 8000 units and your return money is just over 29,000 naira. i dont think that's anything to have a high bp for. if it helps, i dont think anybody has received the cert or return money. wema registrar is handling access bank register and they are usually slow in dispatching things

@All,

just so we dont panic about the CSCS website hack, there is a difference between a website being hacked and a database being hackedthank GOD for little mercies. CSCS is in the business of maintaining databases of legal documents!!! the hack of the website might not be as serious as it looks but it does call for questions to be asked.

it will be a terrible shame if the CSCS database is being protected by a freeware or shareware program angry and i do hope the CSCS guys have noticed the hack job and are already working on it

anyways, i suspect the hack job was done by our nigerian boys, i heard the rave in lag now is learning how to hack into people's machines and with the kind of popularity the capital market is enjoying, the institution associated with it are going to becoming prime targets to test computing powers shocked

Please let me know if I'm the only one who heard this story, or if it is actually true.
Thanks
i heard they are returning cheques but it is supposed to be for those people who requested for more than N10million naira worth or who submitted their application late. when was your broker supposed to have submitted your form?
InvestmentRe: Help Me! Im Trying 2 Track My Mum's Pz Industries Shares. by walcolm(m): 2:18pm On Feb 03, 2008
the first thing to find out is who is the registrar to PZ? it is always written on the certificate. once you know the registrar, you can go to their office.

if you can still find the certificate that she was given, take it with you when you go. they will be able to tell you that status of your mother's holding and all the dividends and bonus she's entitled to.

you willl need a signed letter of authorization from her given you the authority to act on her behalf (the signature has to be similar to what she used when she was making the purchase in 1980 or you will have to get a banker's confirmation of her signature from her bank)

it will be hard for you to get it transferred to you because she is still alive! although you can act as her proxy all you want

I have just looked at my cahscraft account and I can see they have bought shares I did not ask them to buy.I am now in red to the tune of 3 million naira.Am I supposed to pay back the 3 million naira for shares I did not ask them to buy?I can see almost every share in my portfolio.When I received the trade alert I thought it was a joke.
What should I do?I don't have plans of trading with cashcraft anymore and whatever money I have now is planned for my other reliable broker.OMG!
just like Aktopgun pointed out, you don't want to set a precedence you wont be able to control in future. i had d same experience in the past with my stockbroker and i made them reverse the trade promptly (in retrospect, should have held on to the stocks cause it appreciated more than 100% within 3 months of that episode embarassed)! it has not happened again

other things you want to consider before bringing down the hammer is, is it free overdraft they are giving you? the stocks purchased, do they fit into your portfolio plan?are they stocks you have been eyeing without the necessary resources to get them? if all of the above are yes, you might want to let them off with a STERN warning that you will not tolerate unauthourized trades on your account in future while you enjoy the free overdraft and make alternative arrangements to bring your account out of the red BUT if it is not, it is better to quickly squash the development before it becomes a regular practise

@Parababe,

since you have to be indoors all the time but you have competency in medical laboratory, have you thought of converting part of your house into a medical lab? you can then market your lab to small sized clinics around your area, most of these clinics dont have facility for medical lab work and would be happy to give that part of their patients requests to you if you offer competitive rates, quick delivery and excellent service

think about it and try not to get into internet businesses that you dont understand

all da best

@Piddo, Walcom, Wanado
The point is how is possible that with 140% oversubscription of the rights issue one should be getting only 5% allotment.
This is highly unlikely and ought to be scrutinised.
Samstone4 cool cool
if it was 140% over subscribed, then everybody who applied to take up their some or all of their rights would have been alloted fully and no scrutiny is necessary. you will need to raise hell if u applied to take up ur rights in full as a current shareholder and you were not given what is due you. i know such did not happen. the original poster wanted to take advantage of the extra rights issue discount by applying for about 2000% of what was due him, he didnt get it n was now shouting blue murder
BusinessRe: Firstbank Hybrid Offer: Fraudulent? by walcolm(m): 4:34pm On Feb 01, 2008

anyways, they have said they will give a 5-7%p.a interest, and u should expect ur cheque sometimes in ur future

question:
Hi friends, has anybody attempted coverting GTB GDR shares (listed on LSE) to the GTB shares on NSE.
If yes, how long did the process take?
On paper, it should take 9days from when GTA  gets ur GDR cert to convert the GDR to ordinary shares but since this is nigeria, you have to factor in transit days from your stockbroker to GTA and from GTA to notify CSCS to add the units to what you have in CSCS.

i gave my GDR cert on the 28th Dec 2007, my account was debited on 16th january for the cost of convertion, i do not know whether my CSCS has been credited yet but i guess you get the idea.

when anybody tells you to call or mail them on how to spend/use ur money, they are only interested in taking your money away from you!!!! be careful

if you are totally bereft of ideas on what to do with the money, PLS go and by ARM AGGRESSIVE GROWTH FUND!!! it is a mutual fund that is managed by professionals. you are going to be better off that way until you find a business idea that you absolutely love and will be willing to run
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by walcolm(m): 4:46pm On Jan 30, 2008
@eniyanman et al

people, we need to back up a bit on this capital importation certificate!!! there is indeed a legal document that you can obtain which authenticates the fact that you have brought in hard currency from outside nigeria. the job of this document is to make it easy for you to take out your money if you choose to move your currency back to where it came from. institutional investors use it when they do cross border investments and have to remit profit back to their home country.

with GTBank, all u need is $0 to open a dollar denominated domiciliary account.

you are free to put in money at anytime u want and take out money at any time you want up to the total balance in your account. i know you will also need to open either a savings or current account in naira because the two accounts will be attached to each other

that culture was brought on by inflation in the past (it is no longer the case in d present dispensation) and the backwardness of the economy. dont forget we are only just trying to play catch up on technology and have never been at the cutting edge of these technologies.(electronic payment systems)

if we had, inflation would not have caused people from spending coins because there would be less notes in circulation and using an electronic form of payment will be more widely accepted and possible

detruth,

u don't want to be predicting any crash based on what the people in the House of Rep or senate are doing!!! it is common knowledge that these guys have no clue what they should really be doing at any point in time. is banning banks from coming to the equities market what nigeria needs to solve the myriad of problems we are facing at this time? are they not supposed to be creating enabling laws that make fraudualent and corrupt practises harder and also, easier to punish? are they not supposed to be creating laws that facilitates and encourage entrepreneurship

please, don't get people started on you with this your post. just lay it to rest or hinge your line of thinking on something more credible than the House of reps

cheers
