I don't think that the Thisday story is correct. They misrepresented the NSE Boss.
What she said was that srockbroking firms would not be allowed to list on the Exchange, so if they do private placements they would still remain private firms. also they would not be able to do public offer.

What she said was that srockbroking firms would not be allowed to list on the Exchange, so if they do private placements they would still remain private firms. also they would not be able to do public offer.
but she said they can incorporate another company which can then be listed. so if they incorporate a parent company wit the stockbroking firm as a subsidiary of the parent company, the parent company can do a private placement for the purpose of listing on the stock exchange. the parent company then shores up the paid up capital of the stockbroking firm to meet re-capitalization target from the proceeds of the PP

@freelance, Tantalizer is not well spread like mr Biggs, does it really worth buying?
well, the tantalizer PP has been concluded and they will be listing soon, so the question of whether it is worth buying or not is not so relevant at this time.

chances are even high u will not get it to buy on the floor even if you want to since the listing will be done at the PP price following the new NSE directive. those who were planning to dump at the proposed higher listing price will now have to wait longer add the policy of 100k units daily trade before a stock can witness price appreciation or depreciation, then you will realise that the wait on this one might be long.

that is a good thing because it gives investors time to evaluate the company's performance over the next one yr and what they manage to do with the new funds available to them

VERY IMPORTANT INFO

The NSE has said that henceforth,companies doing PP and hope to be listed on the NSE by way of introduction will have their shares listed @ the PP price

NO MORE PROMISE OF A HIGHER LISTING PRICE
very good development. it will sanitise the PP world. and force companies to price their PP's approriately and moderate premium demand from hoarders

if u have had time to read the service agreement u signed when u tore the simpack open and put it in ur fone, you would have seen it written that 'u agree to be charged for sending sms on the network' shocked not that u agree to be charged when ur sms is delivered!!! undecided s

o u can call EFCC all u want, they cant do anything to these guys. the practise of charging u when u send whether the txt is delivered or not is worldwide and not peculiar to nigeria even in developed economies with stringent consumer protection laws

anyways, there are times ur txt message is actually delivered but the message not delivered error still comes

I was just checking if you use FSDH because I've the same problem with them. They only BUY when the price is high and SELL when its @ the lowest. makes me wonder sometimes if they are 4 me or against me
put a price limit on ur orders. what will happen is that you might not get the stocks u want most of d time but at least you dont get stuck with a stock bought at a price that leaves you wit little or no head room for gain

the pin pad is actually ur first line of defense against PIN theft when u log on in an open access area like cybercafes. it protects u against keystroke stealer programs

i wont mind either. chapel hill will be handling the foreign GDR part of it and they say they wont list the GDR. but do u think it will it be possible to convert that GDR to ordinary shares after starcomms gets listed?

Starcomms bid was done. Payment was to be Monday 7th but now shifted to a later date.
Just learnt that it was 400% oversubscribed so people will only get a prorated allocation. Hopefully, now that the bid is completed, a date for payment will be set.
they cant ask for payment until SEC approves the MO (bidding) they are proposing for the portion of the offer. that is the reason for the delay as at last week

Migration was not because of a fight. It has to do more with how the thread/forum is being moderated. It started with people not being able to post without any notice nor reason. It became worse when charts could not be posted and no explanation was given. It was more like answers not being received for questions hence people had to go elsewhere where they think their needs will be met. Remember, customer is KING.
@SuperGuy,
latching on to what wanaj0 mentioned above, this thread became uncontrollable because the site owner has not realised that he needs to delegate the job of moderating the various threads on this webiste to keep things under control. he can be excused cause he's still a young man and i expect with time he shld mature into a fine leader. there are so many threads and so many people on this website, it is almost impossible for him to do the work alone even if he does absolutely nothing else with his time.

because of the poor response time and lack of control, some people joined the thread and made loud entrances by ruffling feathers with their posts, most of the fights got settled and everybody moved on to the business of making money on the NSE but the last fight went hugely out of control with the subject refusing to respect anybody. virtually everybody on this thread sent a post asking and pleading with him to cool down and overlook things but he/she treated everybody with utmost disdain and kept lashing out unnecessarily. i expect some people sent mails and posts to Seun to step into the situation but like i said, the flood of requests he receives daily from all the threads on this site probably prevented him from responding on time.

the other thread people moved to promised faster response time to legitimate requests by members, better controls over unacceptable behaviours and the site has been delivering on those promises. you can check out the forum for yourself and convince yourself. most people on that thread still think fondly of this thread and i'm sure they come here as regularly as before but as guests mostly. over 2000 posts on a subject of interest is not sumtin to just turn one's back on over night.

just like in any country with more than one fone network, there's really nothing like the best network, the one u choose depends on where u will be when u're in nigeria.

MTN and GLO have the widest network coverage so they are good for people who go into the hinterlands. Celtel is better in terms of call quality in my opinion if you will be staying in lagos.

there are CDMA networks like Starcomms, Multilinks, Visafone, Reltel etc. the charges might be a bit firendlier on the CDMA networks but their coverage area is mainly Lagos, Abuja and PH

if you are one of the many unlucky people who will not get full allotment you apply for, you will need to wait at least 4 months before you willl be sent your refund for the excess unalloted shares. that's what will happen if it is over-subscribed

Why the long preachment?In the words of Roughcut,you are beginning to sound like my headmaster.
My point is,allow people to say whatever they want to say,I feel there are some issues you don't want to prolong because as far as this thread is concerned,they don't add value.
Any poster that feels so strongly about views expressed here should do one of three things;
1.Make his/her/it's(someone said some posters are animals) reservations known once
2. Ignore it TOTALLY
3.Invite the offending poster to suitable sister thread for that purpose
Here's the link www.bolekaja.com\do_me_i_do_you
in addition to this, i think we shld just report abusive/insultive post(s) to the moderators. i remember Seun appointed some moderators for the threads on this site sometimes ago. and the moderators can save us all the stress of having to read those posts by deleting them.

most of us dont have too much spare time to follow this thread because of our work, for us to now have to read thru abuses that add no value to making money on the NSE is unfair.

i will be very happy to delete abusive posts if i have moderator rights on this thread

No vex o. But, was that the one you entered on Dangote Flour as well. I think you mentioned yours was credited to your account.
well, i used the aplhanumeric on my dangote flour application and it has been credited to my CSCS acct. i used the alphanumeric on my oceanic bank application and i got a certificate.

there is a clarification on which is CHN number and which is CSCS Acct no on one of the CSCS' website. the CHN number is the alphanumeric while the CSCS Acct no is the numeric. an investor shld ideally have only one CHN number
BusinessRe: How Do I Get Back At This Company by walcolm(m): 10:24am On Feb 28, 2008
@poster,

i understand how u feel and i'm sure i will feel the same way if i was in ur shoes.

the thing you have to consider is this; you paid for 1 million units but was the money for the 1 million units debited from your account? if it was then by all means you are entitled to 1 million units and you should not let them off easily but if your account was only debited for 100,000units, there's really not much you can hold against the issuing house that handled the placement.

if they had your money for 1 million units and they are now trying to pass it off as a typo, i will advise you to put your lawyer on notice, there is work to be done. SEC & NSE should also be notified since the company is now listed angry

can anyone please give me their opinion on IBTC as a broker--thanx
as a firm, they are efficient in dealing with your buy n sell orders. you can think of them as a buy/sell machine and you need 10 million naira opening balance for them to look at you. i expect that shld not be a problem if you are deep pocketed.

i personally consider their services a bit impersonal but that's my opinion

BusinessRe: Cr Services Limited Private Placement by walcolm(m): 8:16am On Feb 18, 2008
frankiriri:
What I would really like to know is the position of the preference share holders relative to the existing ordinary share holders. Would they have voting reights etc.
the rights of the preference shareholders in CR Services is basically the same as what an ordinary shareholder would eventually have when the company becomes public (voting rights etc). what i think CR Services floaters and their IBTC advisers were trying to do is protect their founders' shares because they were expecting strong people with clout, money and connection to buy into the placement, i mean people strong enough to run the company or oust these founders in future if need be. so they called it class B preference shares which means they are not in the same class as the founders shares.

i expect there is a lot of money to be made for the preference shareholders when the company is listed because they put a fairly steep barrier to entry and they have to reward everybody for their patience and faith etc in the coy
