So muslims are now at par with armed robbers by your comparison? It is a shame of the religion that a comparison will be made to armed robber or election violence in Nigeria. I live in the west now and I have a muslim friend and he is a devote muslim. I was in the mosque for his wedding. Using the issue of religious conservatism in the 3rd world doesn't cut it, I am sure you and know very well that christians in Nigeria are as conservative as the muslim in Nigeria. It is even bad enough that a part of the episcopal church on the US decided to be under the authority of Nigeria Anglican Archibishop. How conservative can that get? Tell me if Nigerian christian don't get provoked by the muslims? Tell me how many muslims have died in Nigeria because of assault my christain based on their religion? And also tell me why no death sentence have been placed on muslim authors fro some sacrilegous books that have been released by Muslims bashing the tenets of christainity.
you said "look at the violence in nigeria and see which one is caused by muslims" so i don't get your point of not wanting me to make a comparison ![]() Anyways, I totally understand where you're coming from. i still think it has to do with conservatism and progressivism. the problem Islam is facing won't be there if most of the Muslim countries practiced the doctrine of separate you read the history of the christian crusade in rome and whatnot and how they went about on killing sprees. will you say that Christianity "used to be" a religion of violence? about the cartoons, there was already religious tensions in Denmark. the cartoon blasphemy was the icing on top of the cake. plus a western christian could care less if there was a caricature of jesus having gay sex. they're not allowed to even pray in public places plus the talk of removing God's name from the currency and national pledge, christian songs are banned from public stations etc the middle eastern countries, on the other hand, i'll be surprised if prayer wasn't mandatory or allah isn't on their currency, everyday songs. they hold their God in a higher esteem than christians of the west do. It's like the equivalent of toppling the statue of liberty or burning the flag in the us. stuff like that will incite violence too. like i said, religion dominate these people's lives not ideologies like "liberty, democracy" as it is in the west. when the west bomb the middle east and other places, the do it for liberty and democracy (very ironic) when the middle east bomb the west, they do it for religion (also very ironic) when people in the west get a job or get their way they thank the american dream, freedom and equality. when people in the middle east get jobs, they thank allah. so, you also have to look at cultural differences when you talk about stuff like this. we all know most bombings are usually carried out mostly for political purposes (with the exception of extremists. see my previous post). it's only convenient to hide behind the mask of "promoting democracy" or "carrying out allah's will" the point is, this your muslim friend that is devoted to islam. the same one you visited a mosque for, is he a terrorist? listen, i have muslim friends too. even many muslim distant relatives. My daily reactions with them shows me that indeed, islam is a religion of peace. |
stimulus:and how does that proove that "muslims are the most violent people in the world" terrorist attacks are carried out by extremist/radical groups. ex. an example of an extremist christian group is the KKK that target black people and basically non-whites. these extremists don't represent every believer of the respective religion. show me your stat, please. Only then will i change my mind. |
McDoe:you're actually one of the few guys on Nairaland that will encourage girls to develop/show interest in politics. rare that's cool. |
It is just not about Western Media alone - Look at the violence in Nigeria and see which one is caused by muslims _ I guess that is influenced by the western media too. The stats aren't wrong most of the world violence are caused by the muslims. Guess how many people died because of a common cartoon in Denmark? I am sure christainity gets torn down by day in most islamic countries but you don't see Christains going around looking for muslims country embassy to burn or anything.
last time i checked the high rate of armed robbery wasn't caused by muslims. the violence over the election and people calling for revolution was also not caused by muslims I wouldn't call this backwardness, but, you should consider that majority of Muslims live in 3rd world countries and these countries also tend to be more conservative/ very religious. a significant part of their life revolves around religion, their laws revolve around religion etc their reactions to the cartoons shouldn't be surprising taking into account the background events during the period that have been building up animosity. heck if you made the same sort of cartoon about Jesus at the time when western society still revolved around religion, the guy would be dead in a sec. do you have any muslim friends/ personally know any muslim? and can you please show me the "most of the world's violence are caused by muslims" stat? i want to see where you got that stat from. ![]() maybe i'll believe you when i see it. some people say "most of the world's violence are caused by blacks" i guess a black muslim is a seriously deadly combination. j/k |
mukina2:don't mind them. they most likely never had any muslim friends. all their perceptions of muslims are based on US and British media. ignorance is a disease ![]() anyways, many people leave christianity too. most of the time, imo, some muslims that leave their religion do it in order to fit in to the anti-islamist society like the US. there's a lot of hatred against them in western society from ignorant people (majority of the population. lol) and muslims don't want to be caught up in that so they do whatever to fit in ie by rejecting their religion 'cause people tease them for it. then again, there's hatred for westerners in the middle eastern societies too. the hate goes both ways. to me, it depends on the individual to decide how they'll practice their religion. peacefully or not. we know all the rappers that take pride in how many times they've been shot, who they fought, diss etc and all but they all pray regularly and claim Jesus Christ. |
stimulus:eighteen, nineteen, ten ten ![]() that last guy was lucky. he only laughed once |
inferiority complex? that's really cool. 'cause i know many parents dread the summer months. esp naija families where there are upwards of 3 kids in the house. ![]() you can use some nearby school. they'll assemble and meet there to do whatever and then go on trips and then come back to the school to do whatever. or they can just stay at the school to watch like a fun school sort of, w/o any serious work. lol and occasional once or twice a week trip to cool places/ malls, parks etc hire some teenage kids 17-18 years old recent secondary school grads (you can put up posters or get some people you know/trust), who have nothing to do for the summer, to supervise and give them free food as pay. j/k you have to pay them. lolor you can use primary school teachers (the nice ones. ) or just people who like fun. your profile says you're 19 so you can ask your friends to come help you out ( this way you don't have to pay staff/ you save money) there will be something like a family day/ party at the end. and be nice to them and the kids on this day. ![]() to encourage the parents to bring their kids to you next year. don't charge too little but don't charge too much either. lol i know this isn't helpful but i really don't know about the naira. here in the US, the price ranges from less than $70 to $2000 or more. depending on the quality of the program and the social backgrounds of the kids rich private school kids VS poor public school kids. lol oh yeah, you should make teeshirts (custom made with noticeable color/ design) or name tags so you don't lose the kids, can easily find wandering kids. start out with a small group of kids. maybe about 15 and increase the size each year as your program becomes more popular, you're better at handling them. lol kids can be trouble at times |
hinduism, just leave your email address in your post, trust me, there are definitely some interested ladies (even if they don't post a reply on here) ignore the haters. lol |

i'll try to major in bio. i can always change majors if it doesn't work out. goodluck and THANKS A LOT for advice and help. i appreciate you have facebook account? and you can always change your major 'can't you if you don't like what you're currently doing. or you probably shouldn't give up yet 'cause i heard that you never know until you get the job. that's why some people encourage students to do internships and such 'cause that's how they decide if they're really interested or not. |
lol. how was it? lucky you escaping to naija. ![]() i fight with somebody else now. so it's all good. you keeping in touch with bluenubian? 'cause she disappeared just after you disappeared. |
