kojeiwa:where do you live? you probably live in an area where there are mostly just yorubas and igbos. yorubas don't classify edo people as igbos (ibos?). It's just they used to seeing just igbos and yorubas in the US. trust me, even if i saw an hausa person anywhere in the US, i would probably first assume he was yoruba or igbo. i hardly see hausa or edo people in the US. you guys are more likely to live in Italy or some european country i think. and hausas are more likely to be in the middle east. yeah edo culture is related to the yoruba. that's cool. So, it depends on where you live. |
ma fi thread yi practice yoruba mi. ![]() mo o mo pe yoruba le la ti ka to yi. lmao @ mobolowowon |
we still represent that's cool.maybe next year or year after that, we'll show a movie. |
Donzman:1. what sense of fear? what exactly are we supposed to be scared of ? I lived in the same houses and communities as igbos through out my stay in Nigeria, i didn't see other ethic groups fleeing (in fright) from them. ![]() but then i lived in lagos which is really diverse so i can't speak for abuja which is mostly muslim. imagine a yoruba family in calabar. maybe they'll think the igbos are scared of them also. who knows? 2. i guess ethnocentric was the wrong word. AWKWARD fits perfect. lol It reminded me of cultural houses in the US. i didn't feel that people needed to create them in their own indigenous countries. it just seemed awkward.hmm but i'm not in an igbo man's shoes. If you guys claim you witness so much hate and are victimized, maybe it's true. i don't know? maybe i'm just ignorant of it. ![]() just that i saw abuja as an hausa state. and a heritage house will make soo much better sense to be situated in anambra or something. imagine a hausa heritage center in calabar. lol but then like i said earlier, i didn't know there were so many igbos in abuja. |
no other country in the world studies in foreign language, Africans are dumb asses for adopting foreign languages and they still want respect,HEY!!!! don't call me a dumb ass. ![]() There would be no such thing as "Nigeria" if we didn't adopt a foreign language. every civilization has adopted a foreign language and i guess over time a new language develop from it. you never know, pidgin english will eventually evolve to an official Nigerian language. only it won't be called "pidgin english" anymore. it'll something totally different. english is like the latin of the past (funny how english, french and the rest of the romantic languages used to be considered vulgar then). i guess our glory lies somewhere in the near future. |
Ask anyone who has done business with Igbos, no ethnic politics, just ways to feed our families. Even the Chinese recognize this, why don't fellow Nigerians?i believe most people doing business are also doing it to feed their family. i don't get your point when you say "fellow nigerians don't recognize this" ![]() i was talking about the igbo place that's sort of a heritage center (it's not a busness center. more like a igbo community house or something) or whatever the name of that house thing is they were trying to build. it just seemed awkward to me. it said something about the north being hostile to igbos and the building was like a sanctuary or something. i don't remember but it was awkward when i read it. i think i'll have to look for the link. but seeing that igbos have a lot of influence in abuja, it makes some sense. i really used to think there were just a handful of igbo's in abuja after the religious clashes and all that. |
you're hilarious ![]() i guess we just have to wait till the secret meeting's over. |
yeah. true. i want a balance between both. |
the reason they probably seem to conflict is that a lot of beautiful people don't have a reason to be smart & study. they're like, i don't need to use my brain 'cause i already have what i want. and we all know that idle brain makes one dumb. you have to keep exercising it to stay smart (i read this somewhere, don't ask me). and then there are a lot of smart people who don't have a reason to be beautiful, look nice. they'll say they don't need to look pretty (nice dress, make up etc )etc 'cause they already have a brain. most of the smartest people i know are also some of the best looking but they don't let it show. it's always hidden behind thick huge glasses, weird clothing , unstyled hair , nerdy pose etc people think they are ugly until they get a make over. there are some really good looking people that i know that are really smart if only they put an effort into picking up a book for once rather than going to the mall repeatedly to get the new pair of shoes or whatever. my point: you can be both if you try to be and learn to balance your life. |
i loved this song ![]() I think LAYI has it. he doesn't come online often though but anytime you see him come online, ask him if he does. i'm not sure. |
nosa101:oh hell no!! socialism mixed with some capitalism will do fine. |
Dis Guy:i thought it was the other way around? ![]() it's igbo not ibo i think. |
that's interesting, I though abuja was predominantly hausa. there was controversy about igbos building an Igbo place in Abuja too but i thought it was stupid, ethnocentric. do igbos really make the bulk of abuja? 'cause that's news to me. edited: Oh i get it now. i read the article. the igbos own the real estate & are affected by the abuja projects. |
chardeols:what school do you go to? do you like your school? what are the funny/ sad/ cool things that happen at your school? ![]() stuff like that ![]() |
Omo Eko:cool!! Penn state @nosa, i know a couple of people who attend upitt. ![]() |
well you just made a classification yourself. you haven't met every yoruba person in the world have you? so how do you know that all ~30 million of them will classify you as igbo? i think everyone make classification to make life easier. it's annoying i know but it's easier. most (actually, ALL) nigerians i have met here are either yoruba or igbo. so i get conditioned to assuming they are either one or the other. i guess i'll stop that habit now (i'll be pretty offended if i was in your shoes) . thanks for posting this ![]() |
more pics. oops they're in my last post on the first page but i'll post more later. including this cute hairstyle i found. |
whiteroses:trust me, natural looks best on black ladies. nothing looks better than it. TRUST ME. the only time i got the most compliment for my hair was when i wore my hair natural to school. the hair you're talking about, if you look at it closely, isn't done specially. from what i see, it can be replicated quite easily. it's pretty much a bun (maybe combed after a twist out)with pomade or gel to smoothen it up. i tried that style, only my hair isn't that big yet. I'm going to grow it out really huge. if you think natural hair can only be worn in an afro or nasty bushy style then you know nothing about natural. even afros by itself comes in varieties. more pics of natural hairstyles i found on web

haywhy:maybe this "facts" was written in 1997. us debt was a lot lesser then too, i assume. |
oh good thing you didn't go there. They're extremist christians. lol ![]() you can't look the opposite sex in the eye or even try to make an attemt to touch them. you can't go outside of campus without perimssion and a guide either. they dress UP for everything, cover everything etc sounds like Davidylan's definition of islam. but the christian version of it. ![]() |
Davidylan, this is a disgrace. I can't believe they've brainwashed you this much.Mukinat2,stand firm on what u believe in irrespective of what people say.I concur with u'Islam and Terrorism are 2 separating things'.Ma a salamyou concur based on what? Tons of evidence point to the islamic doctrine as the root of terrorism. ![]() this is THOROUGH brainwashing. when did islam become the root of terrorism? 2001? bush propaganda/ campaign?do you even mind looking up the word "terrorism" in the dictionary? the word didn't just get created out of thin air after 9/11 you know (well, thanks to Bush, the word has taken up a whole new level of meaning)? Please point out these evidence. please. hurry up too. ayefele200:I heard about it. they make "eye babies" at pensacola. do you go there? too bad there aren't as many conservative christians as there are conservative muslims in the world. |
Brymore: okay. jokesBrymore has herpes and halitosis. it runs in his family ![]() ariba deserves to ***. ![]() rate my jokes. |
Mukina someone called you a terrorist, you said you are not one,we agree, people have been called worse names, suck it up! and move onSOOOO wrong. maybe blacks should have also sucked slavery/ jimcrow/ discrimination up too. there are people who have been treated worse ![]() only cowards (not grown ups) will do that to themselves. the brave people will stand up to the bullies and not suck it up. anyways, Mukina, brush the dirt off your shoulders and point them to Pensacola college. that's their cup of tea. you can also report them to Seun (he said it right after your post i think). goodluck. 'cause you've got so many haters ![]() |
The strictest university i've ever come across so far has to be Pensacola college. I heard lots of stuff about that school. |
official:we need more people to follow this guy's footsteps. we should be able to create our food and necessities in our land and not rely on importing goods form other countries/ foreign people controlling our economy. |
how do they find out? ![]() It's so weird. I have no clue where the signal is coming (the library i know that has it is half a mile from my house and i doubt it's coming from there) but the connection is very good. |
closetpevert's girlfriend?? ![]() |
hmm i'll have to try this out. is it possible to use a Nigerian passport if you have another one for some other country? can you use them interchangeably? i'm not surprised though. most ignorant people are suspicious of a Nigerian for some reason. |
99% of all statistics are fabricated |
isn't this in France? ![]() Go, Nigeria!! |
Idiocracy, the movie. who have seen it because now i get a little paranoid when i see threads with titles like this. lol let's save the world guys!!! |
