Will the initial Visa grant from Nigeria not cover the duration of one's study? Or what necessitates visa renewal in Aussie? Do explain sir. Thank u
In most cases it does cover but people still end up deferring their admission while other change from uni to uni or uni to tafe. In such case, you do need to show ielts and bankstatement for your visa to be granted.

Anyone can be you sponsor for AL1 applicants.
You need to show your relationship with your sponsor.
You need a sponsorship letter stating how this person has supported you in the past or why they are supporting you now.
Provide supporting documents of your school fees they have paid in the past.

Christianity EtcRe: Why Is Church Attendance / Going To Church Important? by WestAfrican: 9:46pm On Jan 23, 2017
Paul apostle mentioned about not forsaking the Christian gathering.

It is like going to the gym, most people have the equipment at home or can afford to set-up one but yet they go to the gym. One of the reasons is to have change of encouragement. Same applies to going to church, you strengthen your faith by having an interchange of encouragement. In other words we learn from watching others.

Young man, if you don't derive joy in studying you honestly don't have to force it on yourself.
Find a trade you love to do. Something you really find joy in doing. Go to a technical school where you learn hands-on.

In the feature you can enrol for some seminars or short courses.

Higher education doesn't always lead you to financial stability.

Jews have always known to be successful where ever they went. That was one of the major reasons Adolf Hitler decided to eliminate them from the surface of the earth because they won't lend him money to start up his business.

Even before getting to read this article I have always known the undermentioned as our weakness.

I hope we will someday change our orientation for good.

I m also an advocate for leaving for post graduate studies if one feels the PR application will be easier from there. The advantages you stated there are also true but just to correct something, One can get assessed with a professional engineering status irrespective of the undergraduate location. I was assessed as electronics engineer with no work experience and bsc from Nigeria so it is very possible. Nonetheless, I think your knowledge of the PR scheme is still a bit sketchy as there are some statements you made which can be misguiding.
You just don't get it. Anyhow, I reserve any further comments.
TravelRe: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by WestAfrican: 8:41am On Dec 26, 2016
mctowel01:
It is good to get a masters degree there, but just so you know, there is no added direct advantage or incentive for being a student while applying for PR. Total points which can be claimed in Nigeria remain the same even while studying there unless you ve completed the 2 years masters of course... As we all know, policies change fast, so its not wise to wait 2 years for 5 points which may/may not be applicable.
My bro I have always advocated for PR rather than study. But in a situation where one finds it difficult scoring 60 points and above and wants to leave the country as things are getting worse then it's better to opt for a study visa then carry on from there.

Masters gives you equal point as undergraduate degree. The advantage of applying while in the country is:
~You can appeal the decision
~ You are still on your student visa and will remain in the country
~ You can continue your studies and earn a master's degree
~You get a 2 year graduate study visa after you graduate
~You can lodge another PR
~You can get married (if still single) and get your PR through that avenue

There are heaps of PhD students in Australia who are still finding it difficult to get their PR all because they couldn't score 20 points in ielts TOEFL.

If your Bsc certificate is not from Australia you will most likely be asked by your case officer to apply via Engineering technologiest and believe there are thousands of applicants and only 20-30% make it before the window closes and these ones have wealth of working experiences under their belts.

There is no problem giving it a crack thou but then like I previously said, I would only do it in those conditions I had listed above.

Everyone will tackle the situation from a different perspective but left for me I will tackle the way I have mentioned (na person wey wear shoe know wer e dey pain am)
TravelRe: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by WestAfrican: 3:33am On Dec 26, 2016
If I were in his situation I will not apply under engineering technologist.

After spending quality time researching on it, I personally won't apply under engineering technologist unless I:
1) Get the go ahead from Engineers Australia after ringing or emailing them on (1300 653 113
memberservices@engineersaustralia.org.au)

2) Have at least 65 points

3) Have all relevant documents ready before lodging my application

4) Fast track my application (which takes 15 days to process instead of 6months)

If I don't meet the aforementioned criteria , I do rather come in on a student visa and then try applying for PR.

That is what I will do personally.

mctowel01:
Bro, that's not correct. With petroleum engineering as undergraduate study, you can get assessed with engineering technologist. I saw the site and those specializations don't matter.I ve been positively assessed with electronics engineer and when filling the space for specialization, I left it blank cos the option I saw there was "communications specialist" which I have no idea of. Typically, the assessor sometimes asks the applicant to change to engineering technologist from other professional occupations especially when they are not satisfied with the quality of the CDR. I ve seen people asked to change from electrical and also from electronics (both which are not under the technologist specializations) to Technologist.
Nevertheless, You re doing a commendable job on this thread..Cheers
Occupations removed from the SOL on 1 July 2016 were:
Mining Engineer (Excluding Petroleum) (ANZSCO 233611)
Petroleum Engineer (ANZSCO 233612)
Metallurgist (ANZSCO 234912)
Environmental Health Officer (ANZSCO 251311)
Occupational Health and Safety Adviser (ANZSCO 251312)
Dental Hygienist (ANZSCO 411211)
Dental Prosthetist (ANZSCO 411212)
Dental Technician (ANZSCO 411213)
Dental Therapist (ANZSCO 411214).

Just asking myself why Petroleum engineering was removed from sol? May be they don't want applicants to know they can still be assessed under engineering technologist?

Thanks mctowel and God bless you
I will look into that, and I hope to get more assistance from you in the future

Merry Christmas
The advise given to you was based on the previous information you provided on this thread. While your condition does not qualify you as a PR candidate that was why I further informed you to get here on a student visa and carry on from there.

You have been advised again to look into Engineering technologiest (ET) as an option but unfortunately Petroleum engineering does not fall into (EAT) specialization.

You may want to contact a professional mara immigration agent to best advise you as you don't want to waste your time, energy and resources; and at the end your visa is refused.

Follow this link to read a bit more on engineering technologist to see if you qualify for sol or csol and do further research.

Coming in Australia as a student is always not the best but if it's the only option you have means you have to grab it. Laws in Australia changes by the day

If you are good at what you do and have a portfolio you can be sure of getting a job and a sponsor that is another route for PR

Hello Folks,

Please, I am moving to Perth and I had wanted to get a driver's license before I leave Ghana. But I have such a short time and the process is still time consuming even if you 'pay'. Can I get a WA licence whiles I get there as a student?

What is your advice please?
@bellong
@westafrican

Thank you
If you come in as a temporary resident you can drive with your license until the day you leave but if you decide to convert your foreign license it can only be done after you have lived in Australia for 6 months or more. If you come in as a permanent resident you have 3months to convert your license.

If you don have your foreign license on you mean you have to start from the scratch (get a learner's license) that also mean you must have someone with an Australian full license to be with you in the car before you drive. To cut the long story short, it will be ideal for you to start the processing and arrange for the license to be sent to you once it's out. Otherwise you have UpTo 3years to get an Australian full license if you decide to start from the beginning.

Unfortunately your best option is using the black market or if you are lucky to find a genuine person on this thread who is looking at transferring money back home then you both can be beneficial to each other.

Assessment
I have considered the information provided on your visa application form. You have declared that you are a 31 year old engaged male Nigerian national who wishes to travel to Australia to attend vForum on 09 and 10/11/2016. You state that you are employed at Isolo lcda since 01/03/2010.

You have not travelled to Australia nor have you provided acceptable evidence of travel to countries comparable to Australia. You have provided no acceptable documentation to support your claims of travel to Australia temporarily for business purposes. You have provided no evidence of funds to support your proposed stay in Australia or evidence of credentials or employment, invitation etc. or have you demonstrated strong enough incentive to return to your home country. I therefore have strong concerns regarding the genuineness of your claimed intention to visit Australia temporarily for business reasons or that you will abide by the visa conditions.

On balance I find that you do not meet subclause 600.211.

NB: I gave the so called agent copies of my child's birth certificate, expired UK student and schengen visitors' visa but according to records, he didn't upload them. He also said I'm engaged instead of married while he still went ahead and upload my marriage certificate.
You are lucky no to have been refused on the ground of bogus information which carries a 3 years ban. Hence it is your responsibility to double check all information cum documents submitted by your agent.

Having said that, you may be assessed by a different body or case officer when you apply for a study visa.

Hence, you will need to first tell the truth that you have been denied a visa and give them the reason(s) for denial.

Secondly, you must support your student application with enough evidence or supporting documents.

Lastly you must do it yourself and pray to God.

If you don't feel confident doing it yourself, you can search for a registered immigration lawyer (search for MARA lawyers in Australia) to assist you further.

All the best.

Hello all, today is my birthday. Sounds like something to be cheerful about. Right? Unfortunately, today doesn't seem to be starting with cheer as my dream to visit, study or probably live in Australia is presently appearing as a mirage.

I discovered this thread few months ago only after I had engaged the service of a visa agent who claimed to be an expert. He applied for a Business visitor's class on my behalf using some information that is not true about me. I discovered this just yesterday after receiving the details for assessing my Immi account from him and of course, you can tell that my application was refused.

I'm not even concerned about the refusal now but whether it is possible to correct the misleading information already registered with DIBP without any eyebrow raised when making same or other visa category applications. In short, what can I do?

Please your candid advice is needed at this point.
Cheers.

Compare there individual fees and also the location ...also u might need to consider if one or both skul is on AL1 ....and also the ratings. ..in all it the fees that matter most...
The question is:
How lucrative is it to find jobs in both places?
Fees may be high but if you can find jobs to cover up your expenses that is what is paramount.

@sirchino

I have found myself in the same shoes and problem

I am also a petroleum engineer, now I wish to follow the advise of @westafrica about applying for student visa while u wait or we wait, for the pr application,

Pls West African, kindly advise on the best route of student visa to apply to, I mean the school or any advise about school application that will Suite the primary aim of applying for the pr in no distance time after arriving OZ

Thanks sires
Have a good look at the courses on Sol and select one that is related to petroleum engineering. Apply to a school, get your ecoe, apply for your visa. While studying for your masters and your degree course (P~Engineering) appears on sol, then you can apply for PR and wait the outcome. If it doesn't, you can continue with your masters on the related course and apply for PR after you have completed that degree.

If the course you're going for is CRICOS registered, you should be fine. Have it in mind that those course are under assessment level 3. You need more documents to convince your case officer. May be those who fits there visas under AL3 can furnish you with the documents they submitted.

Thank you for your response Bellong. Please can you advise on getting a car for $600 - what to expect and so on. Pardon the lack of substance in my post. I am based in UK and I know you can get a functional car that costs similar to $600 but my brother in Queensland has been advised that he has to spend at least $2,500 to get a good car. Please any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Buy cars with logbook or buy a car from a dealer, it may be dearer but you have a peace of mind that if anything goes wrong you can swap for something else.

If the person is on budget, they can buy a cheap car but watch out for crack/blown head gasket, ball joint, overheating, and transmission problems. Meanwhile it pays to buy cars within $3-4k mark, they may have high kms but are still good cars.

In australia you don't really look at km on cars if they are constantly serviced. You have to drive long distance for work and other things.

It is illegal or an offence (if you like) to kill snakes in some states if not all state in Australia. You could get 2years sentence and $10,000 fine.

Having said that, if it's a poisonous snake ane pose a risk to your life you can get away with it.
