PoliticsRe: My Proposal For Nigeria: The Two State Solution by whirlwind7(m):
We cannot deny the fact that the people from the northern part of Nigeria has similar culture, religious and social life as those from Niger.
In fact, the artificial border of northern Nigeria is just that - artificial. When you take a second look at that map above, you will realize why they feel they should be the lord of this contraption called Nigeria...because the southern part looks minor - more like an appendage to the total sum of this geopolitical entity.

Unless it is actually electrified all the time, then it's not better than metal bars (protectors)

This can be easily removed with pliers or cutters.

Read the #2 again. You obviously didn't understand it.

It advised that you call out to a specific person by shouting out his description. This will make it seem more personal to a bystander.

The OP should have explained what the #8 (self Heimlich) is. Even if it wasn't explained in the source, a little research on your part would have been nice.
RomanceRe: ... by whirlwind7(m): 9:41am On Jan 12, 2015
Really?

Well, I don't think it's cool to equate something basic like cooking, with a professional and advanced skill such as flying an aircraft.

You do not need to enroll in a school, attend lessons, leave your home, or even spend a dime, to learn how to cook. Cooking is something fundamental that shouldn't be ascribed to a particular gender.

I also dont think it's offensive to ask anyone if he or she can cook, except you did it in a rude way. Tell me, what married couple will prefer to eat out everyday, compared with having a home cooked meal?

PoliticsRe: Should We Call This Racism? by whirlwind7(m):
Not exactly.

Ask yourself first: What was the reaction of Nigeria itself to the Baga slayings?
Did you know that the incident was first made public by foreign medias, before the local ones picked up on it?
The local media were focused on the mudslinging contest between PDP and APC. The citizenry itself have become jaded over the incessant killings by BH terrorists.

Those who got wind of the incident in it's early stages didn't see much need to raise any great alarm over it, because these sort of massacre had become common....until they realized the number of victims in one fell swoop.

The Chief Security Officer of the country didn't have much to say over the incident either (remember, he'd told us before that it's our turn to get our share of this global menace, and the earlier we got used to it, the better)
He was quick to send a condolence message to the French people, but thousands dying in his backyard isn't worth sweating over. So, why would you say the empathy shown to the French people over the death of 17 people, compared with the little attention over the death of a couple thousand in Nigeria, is racist, when even the Nigerian system doesn't really care about it's own?

You are addressed by the way you present yourself. You cannot get respect, unless you earn or deserve it. There is something fundamentally wrong with the black race. There is something horrifically wrong with a set of people who slay their kind, their own people, their own kith and kin, their own people who share similar language, similar cultural identity, similar ways of life, food, drink, dress and whatever, over a religion that was imposed on them by foreigners!

Tell me what could justify this? We are treated the way the world sees us, because we deserved it. We brought it upon ourselves!

CelebritiesRe: PHOTOS :Cocoa Mall Ibadan On Fire!!!!!!!!! by whirlwind7(m): 3:10am On Jan 10, 2015
These scenarios will continue, until legislation makes it mandatory to install functioning fire extinguishers and smoke detectors in large public and private buildings. Since Nigeria hasn't deemed it important to ensure that water is available to most cities, and fix water hydrants to streets with properties of high values, we shall continue to loose lives and properties to fires. This isn't a pessimistic outlook, but the reality based on the way we have chosen to run our affairs.

PoliticsRe: This Certificate Brouhaha Is Disgraceful by whirlwind7(m): 12:17pm On Jan 06, 2015
My thoughts exactly.
The annoying thing is INEC's seeming complacency over the issue. As the regulator, umpire, screener and what have you, over all electoral affairs, why haven't they come out with a categorical statement over the issue, and put it to a final rest?
What criteria and or qualification did they accept when they accepted GMB as a contestant in the past 3 presidential elections and what changed between now and the 2011 election?
PoliticsRe: Buhari: US War College 1980 Set Scam Exposed. by whirlwind7(m):
Claims and counter claims. Seem like both camps are ready to get mean and really dirty over 2015 elections.

@OP: Don't you think it's early yet to claim that a scam has been exposed? You did good by digging this info out. Just present facts, and let it speak for itself. You don't know yet if there's a perfectly sensible explanation concerning what names are on this list, and what names were omitted. It's much easy to manipulate data and information these days. If the above information is genuine, INEC should have verified it. In fact, INEC's seeming silence over these claims of GMB's credentials is worrying. They are the umpire, but seemed to have gone to sleep.

If GMB's qualifications are bogus, don't you think we should take the battle to INEC who cleared him to contest three consecutive presidential elections?
I mean, won't we all look stewpid if, after all the hue and cry, GMB still goes ahead to contest and even win?

Personally, I don't care for either of the major contenders. The flawed Nigerian system has saddled us with two seemingly questionable individuals as the best among over 150 million people. The least we could do at the present is to choose the perceived better of these two deficient and unsatisfactory options....in a matured and hate free manner.

In 2011, I rooted for Nuhu Ribadu. This time, I still see no reason to join in the mudslinging contest over who is the better of the two men I never saw as capable 4 years ago.
Music/RadioRe: Nigeria’s Top 50 Songs(1960-2010) – The Complete Music Countdown, Do You Agree? by whirlwind7(m):
Great list!

Do you agree that Funmi Adams song "Ahaye Yaro" would make a better substitute for her "Nigeria my beloved country"?
Also, I would substitute "Biri Ka M'biri" for "Identity" when I consider the major hits by Oliver De Coque.

Your list has just made me start searching on Youtube for some songs I forgot ever existed, and some I don't think I've heard of.
My old boy still has several LP records that I play on occasions. I recently began converting them to mp3 so he can play them on portable devices.

Modified!
I had to add this. @OP: Admit it. You made this list mostly from a single page from Youtube cheesy
Or, rather, whoever compiled the list did so from almost a single Youtube page. Just search and play one of the above songs, then check out the rest of the songs displayed on the sideboard.
I searched for that song by Dan Maraya, and while it was playing, I realized that most of the songs on the list were displayed right there at the sideboard on the right.
Anyhow, you just made me give myself an assignment for the rest of today. Im gonna be searching for, and downloading some songs I could remember from childhood. Thanks!
PhonesRe: 10 Facts About Selfies You Should Know By Rodriquez by whirlwind7(m):
I feel that folks who take selfies a lot are frequently loners by nature.
You will find it easier to hand your phone or camera to known people around you to take your snapshots, instead of selfies.

Whats more, this digital age is gradually making physical, face to face social interaction harder. We are all gradually alienating ourselves. One can literally spend hours on end without company, much more comfortably, provided you have a device to distract yourself with...and on those occasions when you feel you look hot, (well, at least, facially) you may relieve the boredom by taking more selfies.

Whats more, hand held extensions to clip your cellphones to get great angles are in the market. That is just the limit. If you could have asked someone to take a picture of you, getting those "ugly poles" to help you take a selfie will ensure you wont have to. Sad!

So, for number 11:

If you are always taking selfies, then you don't really have friends (well, at least, not close friends) It shows you are a loner. Wether you are happy with it or not, is a different story.
Christianity EtcRe: Islam More Special On Nairaland? by whirlwind7(m): 2:39pm On Jan 02, 2015
It is just plain annoying. Since you cannot tolerate any sort of opinion, discussion or criticism, from non muslins even if it was well intentioned, then please, keep those threads in the religion section. These guys created a condition designed to keep people of different faith from commenting on their threads, then DON'T bring your threads to the front page. Keep it in that section where your types can visit it and perform their ablution on it.
Everything on the front page is meant for EVERYONE registered on NL to comment and share their views. Don't force your opinions on non muslims if they are excluded from your discussions by taking the posts to the front page.
Non Christians are welcome to piss and shyte on threads discussing the Christian faith, but its nothing to Christians. They have a higher objective than such earthly abuse. They are tolerant and peaceful folks.

PoliticsRe: Buhari Listed As A Famous Dictator On Same Site That Listed Him As Alumni by whirlwind7(m): 5:11pm On Dec 31, 2014
Just wondering about the permutations that changed, to warrant this much media hype going on between supporters of GEJ and GMB. I mean, it wasn't as intense and as drawn out as it is now compared with how it went down in 2011 when both men were still the major contenders.

Its going to be a healthy and highly competitive election if both parties and their supporters can maintain decorum, and let our votes do the talking. This isn't a do-or-die affair as the foot soldiers from both camps are making it appear to be.

If we eventually allow this cyber warfare to degenerate into physical violence, come Feb 14th, then we the masses, and not the contestants, will turn out to become the loosers. Seems like everyone has got something to say, and just a fraction are actually in possession of voters cards to make the difference.

Nuff said.

PetsRe: The World Largest Crocodile Caught In Panama( Photo) by whirlwind7(m): 9:48am On Dec 23, 2014
There is something odd about this picture.

Crocodiles do grow to enormous sizes, but NEVER this big. I think this picture was tampered with.

Look at the dimension of the first man to the left of the picture, the one wearing a military uniform of sorts, taking a snapshot.
Compare the size of his torso, or from his head to his waist, to the lenght of his legs, if they were not blocked by the head of the croc. The dimension is off. It looks like a cropped picture. Or maybe you want to argue that he was kneeling down when this picture was taken. It takes a keen eye to observe this discrepancy.

PoliticsRe: "Rotimi Amaechi Is APC's ATM Machine", Says Reno Omokri by whirlwind7(m): 8:53am On Dec 19, 2014
.....and the dirty game continues. Nigerian politics is mostly about how much personal insult you can take, and how much you can dish out to your opponents. You'll see grown adults, these fathers and grandfathers, willing to take a tumble in the mud over their quests for political offices...the surest and confirmed way to "hammer" in this country.

When I read comments from people who, ideally, should be regarded as responsible and cultured gentlemen, I just cringe. Watch them behave as spoiled kids, a trend that we all have to put up with until the end of Feb 2015. After which, those who loose out can start grovelling for one appointment or another.

Let this oil get totally worthless. This Federal allocation has made everyone of them mad.

There is something I did today, I started from Nike lake resort hotel, switched on my video camera and drove all the way to this estate. I was filming and driving at moderate speed. I am very disappointed as I cannot attach the video after trying for the past few hours. I will try and attach the video later this weekend or early next week.

From Nike lake hotels on the new road to the junction where I swerved off the tarred road is exactly 7 minutes drive.
From the tarred road to the exact land is about 6 minutes and around 350 meters. (This is a rough non tarred road so it will be faster when we grade this road) In total, the video is about 13 minutes long. I am sure it will help us understand the area in question better.
Great job, boss. You can upload the video on youtube, then insert the link here.
I just recalled that you mentioned that you would make a video of the ceremony that took place when the land was acquired. Perhaps you can upload it too?

Keep up the good work.

Isn't it funny that T.A. Orji is set to represent Abia state at the federal level? His son is preparing to get elected into the state house of assembly, and T.A. Orji's puppet (Ikpeazu) just clinched the PDP primary election. I am not from Abia state, and I totally agree that both Orjis since 1999 have effectively pocketed the state and run it as their private enterprise.

The decay in Aba is mind boggling. I'm not judging from the recent pictures I have seen. I have actually been to the commercial capital on several occasions for business.

I'm just watching to see if Abians are going to be taken for another sorry ride by allowing the Orjis and their stooges to get elected next year. No one will even give ear to your tales of woe. You guys are the architects of your state's fortunes.

I just read a piece here on NL, about a deal T.A Orji made with Ikpeazu, in the event the latter gets elected by 2015. Its just plain sickening.
