[quote author=GladGlad post=98183881]247 Fulani women will receive N20, 000 grants each from the Federal Government of Nigeria.
The female beneficiaries are under the umbrella of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) and it is expected that the grant will improve their economic well-being and also take care of their families.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq revealed this when she launched the Federal Government Special Cash Grant for Rural Women at the Fulani settlement of Hutawa in Kebbi State.
The Minister, during the launch, said: "I am delighted to see that these Fulani women are being taught the modern methods of yoghurt production using cow milk.
"This will go a long way in empowering them to be self-reliant and able to provide for their families.
The Fulani's both men & women should continue to run the show while it last. Sheeh! na only the Fulani's get right to benefit from the federal government of the north grants The table shall turn someday
adenigga: The Federal Government on Sunday insisted that the deadlines given for the registration of all Subscriber Identification Modules with valid National Identity Numbers were still in force.
It also declared that the NIN was mandatory for diplomats who reside in Nigeria, as well as for all other lawful residents across the country.
Asked whether the Federal Government had eventually advised the Nigerian Communications Commission as regards the deadlines for SIM registration with NIN, the Director, Public Affairs, NCC, Ikechukwu Adinde, told our correspondent that nothing had changed.
On Thursday, The PUNCH exclusively reported that the NCC was awaiting the advice of the Federal Government as regards the stipulated deadlines.
“The deadlines are still in force; there is no update for now and just like I told you last week, if there is any change you will be communicated,” Adinde stated on Sunday.
Calls for deadline extension are mainly due to the large crowds that gather daily at the various offices of the National Identity Management Commission, as many telephone subscribers had yet to get their NINs.
On December 15, 2020, the Federal Government declared that after December 30, 2020, all SIMs that were not registered with valid NINs on the network of telecommunications companies would be blocked.
It later extended the December 30, 2020 deadline following widespread opposition against the earlier announcement and gave three-week extension for subscribers with NIN from December 30, 2020 to January 19, 2021.
It also gave six-week extension for subscribers without NIN from December 30, 2020 to February 9, 2021, but many organisations had called for further deadline extension or outright suspension of the NIN integration process.
This came as the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, declared on Sunday that all diplomats living in Nigeria must have NINs.
The minister approved the setting up of a NIN enrolment centre at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs for diplomats. The desk would be set up on January 19, 2021.
A statement issued in Abuja by Pantami’s aide, Femi Adeluyi, stated that the centre would provide support for members of the diplomatic corps and would be managed by the communications ministry through NIMC.
The ministry stated that the centre was being set up based on the request of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, in order to simplify the process for diplomats.
It said, “The NIN is mandatory for diplomats who will reside in Nigeria for a continuous period of two years or more.
“It is also mandatory for all other lawful residents in the country as stated in Section 16 of the NIMC Act 2007.”
It stated that the law had made it mandatory for Nigerians and legal residents to obtain a NIN since 2007.
It, however, noted that compliance had been low, until recently.
It said the communications ministry was committed to creating an environment that was conducive for all Nigerians and legal residents to obtain their NINs.
Tobrasky: Herdsmen attacks: Ogun traditional rulers write Army over alleged connivance
Traditional rulers in Ketu communities in Yewa North Local Government have written petition to the authorities of the Nigerian Army, over alleged connivance of some officers with herders to harass their subjects.
The traditional rulers in a petition dated January 7, 2021, alleged that herders invaded Iselu; Ibeku; Agbon-Ojodu and Asa communities with soldiers and molested their people, on December 19, 2020.
The traditional rulers were the Oniggua of Iggualand, Oba Micheal Dosumu; the Eselu of Iseluland, Oba Akintunde Akinyemi and the Alademeso of Igan Alade, Oba Gabriel Olalowo.
The traditional rulers in the petition alleged that about10 soldiers suspected to be from 35 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Alamala, accompanied the herders to the affected villages.
In the letter, the traditional rulers said that the herders and the soldiers stormed Ibeku village in a vehicle belonging to the Army and proceeded to the residence of the village head.
“The Baale was asked to gather his subjects and people from nearby villages which he did. The suspected soldiers told the people that the purpose of their visit was to inform them that the Fulani herders would be coming into their communities to graze cows. Thus, the soldiers would ensure that there was no breakdown of law and order.
“After their address, they asked if anyone had a question or comment to make in reaction to the information. Expectedly, One Mr Seye Mulero responded by calling the attention of the soldiers to the inherent challenges of allowing the herders in their Communities based on the sad previous experiences in the community.
“That the said Seye Mulero further cited past killings, maiming and destruction of farms to buttress his point. Sadly, at this point, the soldiers seized him and mercilessly beat him up.
“In the same manner, the Fulani herders in the company of the suspected Soldiers left Ibeku for Asa, the adjoining village to address the Baale of Asa and his subjects as they had earlier done at Ibeku. Shockingly to the soldiers after their address, the people refused to respond, having heard what transpired at Ibeku.
“However, one of the Fulani herders sighted some of the people in the audience and picked on them as those that purportedly shouted on them at Ibeku while brutalising their victim (Seye Mulero). The herders asked the soldiers to also deal with them.
“On hearing this, the people took to their heels. However, one Gabriel Mulero was not so lucky enough as the soldiers grabbed him and ruthlessly assaulted him. He was whisked away in their pick-up vehicle to Agbon-Ojodu, another adjoining village where they compelled the Baale to assemble his subjects for a forceful briefing.
“It was at Agbon Ojodu that the said Gabriel Mulero was dropped off from the Army pick-up following pleadings by some community leaders,” the petition read.
They asked the military authority to identify, investigate and prosecute the suspected soldiers for the alleged connivance and involvement in the attacks on the villagers by the Fulani herdsmen.
The traditional rulers informed that the Police were aware of the accusation against the soldiers.
The traditional rulers further said the State Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun had on January 3, brokered a meeting over the matter at the Police Divisional Headquarters, Eggua.
The planned disconnection of all SIM cards not linked to NIN on or before February, 9th 2021 is to a larger extent, a welcome development. Las las majority of those their political thugs would be disconnected and that will go a long way to cobbing political thuggery & other forms of election irregularities. The reason is simply, politicians would have lost a larger chunk of their errand boys, coordinations, easy & quick assemblage, will no longer be swift & prompt. No more snatching of ballot boxes as there will no longer be that free flow of communications & instructions passage between the "DO or DIE" politicians & their thuggery boys

I have waited 7 years to collect my original plastic national id card but all to no avail. Few days ago, the air was filled with the news of digital national id card whichI have tried to access severally unsuccessfully. It is either the OTP is not sent, OTP is sent after expiration and when the OTP is sent on time, the app will say "Oops, error..." This early morning, I tried it and everything went successfully, but I was disappointed at the same time. The photos on my digital id card is not mine and my date of birth is also wrong. The photo and date of birth are totally different from the ones on my temporary paper id card. What baffles me is that there were two monitors at the point of registration, one facing me, the other one facing the NIMC staff, and I saw myself on the screen, I ensured that all my biodata and biometrics were correctly captured before submission. Now, how come am I having a different photo and DOB? Pls how do I contact these errors, especially now that people find it difficult to be captured?

ogododo: Thousands of applicants have been locked outside of the offices of the National Identity Management Commission following a strike embarked on by NIMC staff.
The notice of strike was signed by the President of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, NIMC branch, Lucky Michael, and its Secretary, Odia Victor.
It read in part, “Consequent upon the just concluded congress of the above mentioned association that took place on January 6, 2020, the unit executive directs all members of grade level 12 and below in the head office and state offices to report to their respective duty posts tomorrow January 7, 2020 and do nothing. Currently, over 100 million Nigerians have yet to do so which has caused huge crowds to gather at the various offices of NIMC in breach of the COVID-19 protocol.
According to a communiqué issued at the end of the congress meeting of the ACCSN, NIMC branch, the strike had become necessary due to the exposure of staff to COVID-19 risks, lack of personal protective equipment, irregularities in promotion and poor funding.
They also asked to be paid overtime and given enough tools to work with.
