PoliticsRe: US Election: PDP Congratulates Joe Biden, Americans by Whoube99(f): 7:05pm On Nov 08, 2020
damilola4162:
The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has congratulated the United States president-elect Jeo Biden on his successful election as the 4th president of the Country.

The party also congratulates Americans for a successful and peaceful election in strict adherence to democratic principles and extant laws of their country, despite the intense competition.

PDP asserts that the election is lesson to leaders that power resides with the people and that there is a limit to how any individual can hold a people to ransom.

The party said it holds the United States’ Presidential election presents lessons to it emerging electoral system, particularly on the independence of the electoral body as well as showing respect for the rights of the citizens to democratically choose their leaders, irrespective of preferences or predilections of incumbents.

According to PDP "Indeed, the manifest non-interference by the security forces and the judiciary in the US election calls out the current situation in our country where security agencies and compromised judicial officers are used to muzzle election and subvert the will of the people as largely witnessed in the last five years, particularly in the 2019 general elections.

"The US election also serves as a strong lesson to our nation on the need to strengthen our institutions while focusing on our processes and rules instead of strengthening individuals.

"Moreover, the PDP charges President Muhammadu Buhari to draw lessons from the post-Election remarks of the US President-elect by addressing the divisive tendencies, nepotism and marginalization which characterize his administration as well as other actions and policies that threaten the stability, unity and development of our nation.

"However, in congratulating the US President-elect, the PDP urges him to use his new office to promote world unity, peace, global economic, political and international trade collaborations with focus on Africa as well as the developing world.

"Our party recalls that the United States and Nigeria have a long history of robust diplomatic relationship based on mutual respect and cooperation in critical sectors, with many enduring cultural, political, economic and social affinities which should be strengthened for more global development.

"The PDP wishes President-elect, JoeBiden, a successful tenure and urges Nigerians to use the US election as a catalyst and preparatory template to consolidate on our democratic processes ahead of subsequent general elections in the country."

OfficialAwol:
In the run on the 2015 general elections, Tinubu and Sowore used their media platforms to bastardize Jonathan's govt. They made most undiscerning Nigerians think Jonathan was the worst President since human existence. The headline of most daily tabloid either reported Boko Haram killings or how Chibok girls were still in captivity. So much was the noise about Boko Haram that it was driven into our subconsciousness until we couldn't see the good side of Jonathan's govt anymore.

We could no longer see the fact that for four years consecutively, Nigeria's economy was among the top 4 fastest growing economies of the world, growing at 4% with only China, Indonesia and Mexico ahead. But the press told us to forget it. That are mere paper percentages. Asking us the effect of it on our life.

It was in Jonathan's era that Nigeria's economy overtook that of South Africa to become the biggest in Africa till date.

GEJ saw that power was privatized. And even though it's not yet Uhuru as regards power, those who have got prepaid meters are at least sure that they pay for what they consume and not the era of PHCN killing businesses with over bloated estimated billing system. And generally all over the country, power has improved.

In fight against corruption, it was GEJ who introduced IPPIS which led to the wiping out of thousands of ghost workers from govt payroll.

He introduced BVN which makes money traceable even to the 20th account. Now looters are scared of putting money in accounts. So also did he introduce TSA, though he didn't implement it. But the press told us that systemic fight against corruption was useless. They told us that Buhari's preferred use of brute and brush brigandocia was the best.

That was how majority agreed with the press and echoed "anything but Jonathan". And Jonathan lost. 5 years after, result has called itself and we daily rue our mistake of 2015.

What happened to us in 2015 is not different from what is about to happen to Americans. And the usually culprit, the press, is at it again. And it is what has so driven hate for Trump to the crescendo.

Trump has overseen a bubbling economy even in the midst of a global pandemic. Unemployment too has reduced to one of lowest rates in history.

Trump wants America for Americans. Closing porous border with Mexico. Going against unfavorable terms of trade with China.

What most people don't know is that most companies that were in America packed up and went to China because of cheap labour only to ship back to USA at very low excise duty. That's what Trump doesn't like. That's why he imposed higher excise duty on Chinese goods which will make companies interested in American market to consider coming back to US as it would be more expensive to operate from China.

Take for instance the issue Buhari govt had with Benin republic and rice importation. Where tiny Benin Republic was the third largest importer of rice in the world with 98% of that rice destined for Nigeria through our land border free of charge. But these importers pay the import duty they would have paid to Nigeria to Benin Republic. That was bad business because Nigeria was losing big time. And that's why sane Nigerians, irrespective of political sentiments, applauded that Buhari's singular act of closing our land border. Now importers are forced to import through our ports and they pay their excise duty into our purse. That's good business.

It is the same thing Trump is doing with China as regards trade. And that's the genesis of the trade war with China. And it is also why dangerous Jewish capitalists like Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates who have factories in China don't like Trump.

Now they've used the press against Trump until most Americans are echoing "anything but Trump". But I hope it won't be for them like it has been for Nigerians.?

PoliticsRe: I’ll No Longer Fold My Hands, I Will Take Over From Buhari – Tunde Bakare by Whoube99(f): 4:03pm On Nov 03, 2020
Fastnewsnigeria:
I’ll No Longer Fold My Hands, I Will Take Over From Buhari , Tunde Bakare Proclaims.

Founder of Citadel Global Church, Tunde Bakare, has declared his readiness to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari come 2023.

The cleric during his appearance as a guest on Arise Television show yesterday, insisting that as a citizen of Nigeria he has the right to run for any elective office.

“It is my fundamental right to run if I chose to. I mean every word I spoke. I cannot fold my hand or say well, let me continue to watch. No,” he said.

“I am a citizen of this country, born and bred here by the grace of God and I intend to contribute my quota. It is like a matter of life and death.”

The pastor said that he is ready to support the right people but also offering himself, hoping that Nigerians will support him, adding “I am not taking those words back. I have something to offer my country.”

“But it is all left for my country to say we want you because I cannot impose myself on them. I challenge right-thinking patriots to rise and let us join hands to fix our country. If God designs it that I will be the 16th president in 2023, I’m ready. I’m prepared.

Bakare said he has no word to impress anybody, adding that all he can guarantee is quality service. According to him, he has been trained for over 30 years by God to be able to add value to this country.

PoliticsRe: Endsars: Muslims Under Attack In South-south And South-east – NSCIA by Whoube99(f): 7:00am On Oct 24, 2020
Positivepoint:
As the ongoing #EndSARS nationwide protests rage, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has raised the alarm over targeted attacks against Muslims in certain parts of the South-East and South-South of Nigeria with unbridled impunity.

The Chairman, Media Committee of NSCIA, Femi Abbas, said on Friday in a statement that from reliable information reaching the council, the current mass protests embarked upon by Nigerian youths across the country, seems to have assumed a dangerous religious posture as Mosques and Muslim worshippers are now the targets of protesters’ violence in those parts of the country.
Citing an instance, Abas said that the Central Mosque of Orlu, Imo State, was attacked and burnt down last Wednesday (October 21) with one Muslim worshipper killed, while about four others were injured by the so-called ‘peaceful protesters’.
There have been reports of attacks on some indigenous and northern Muslims and their places of worship and businesses in some southern states.
According to him, those injured are now in hospital receiving treatment with little hope for survival.
“Before mayhem was fully unleashed on that Mosque, the personal belongings of the worshippers met therein were carted away in a gangsteric style of predators.

“The NSCIA is well informed that the Muslims in those regions are now living in fear of uncertainty, having been marked for possible annihilation or massacre, for practicing a religion other than Christianity.

The danger in this development is that a precedent is being aggressively set for a religious war, the consequences of which no one can predict with precision. The incidents that led to the current nationwide protests are well known and well defined,” he said.

He said that those incidents, which mainly concern Police brutality, have nothing to do with religion and Nigerian constitution guarantees freedom of worship in all parts of the country.

Abbas said that judging by many inciting utterances coming out of some houses of worship, in the name of sermon, in certain parts of the country, before the outbreak of the ongoing protests, the NSCIA had suspected that a hidden agenda was being built, in certain quarters, to engender a dubious insurrection that could serve as a precursor for a religious war in the land.
He said, “Thus, the turning of a supposedly peaceful nationwide protest into a violent one did not come to NSCIA as a surprise. No well-meaning Nigerian groups or individuals, will claim not to know that the NSCIA does not make any frivolous noise, especially through the media, as a matter of threat to any religious group in the country.

However, for the very first time, this apex body of Nigerian Muslim Ummah is hereby heaving a sound of warning to any fanatical religious group or individuals that may want to take Muslims as object of undue persecution in any part of the country.

No tribal or religious group has monopoly of violence just as no particular region is earmarked exclusively for practice by any particular group of worshippers. Seeing this development as a very dangerous trend that may entail a very dangerous backlash if not immediately stopped, therefore, the NSCIA hereby calls on all governors of the south-east and south-south to quickly step into this matter with a view to checkmating the pernicious trend immediately and ensure the lives of Muslims in their respective states.

He said that as a country, Nigeria has enough political and economic problems to grapple with, already and that adding any religious dimension to those problems may spell doom for the country as the giant of Africa.

The Inspector-General of Police is hereby alerted on this dangerous development, the escalation of which may precipitate a deleterious situation for Nigeria. In matters of provocation and aggression, the NSCIA has been patient enough, but it cannot be forced to go beyond its elasticity limit as an apex religious body with millions of worshipers as its members,” Abbas said

PoliticsRe: 8 Lawmakers Refuse To Join Umahi’s Decamping Train To APC - Daily Trust by Whoube99(f): 7:51am On Oct 19, 2020
kahal29:
Not less than eight lawmakers out of the 24 members of the Ebonyi state House of Assembly have refused to decamped from the People’s Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This came barely 48 hours after the news of the state governor, David Umahi dumped the People’s Democratic party to APC.

Daily Trust gathered that governor Umahi perfected his decamping plan with some stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress in Abuja.

Similarly, Daily Trust gathered that governor Umahi has held series of meetings at his home town in Uburu, Ohazara local government area of the state with some Stakeholders.

Although, many have expressed their willingness to join him in the decamping train.

But his meeting with members of the state house of Assembly ended in dreadlock.

The meeting which was targeted at pacifying the 24 members of the state house of Assembly to join suit was held in Uburu, yesterday home town of governor Umahi.

Our Correspondent however gathered that 8 lawmakers among the 24 refused to endorse their signatures in the defection list.

However, the position of the eight lawmakers has put the governor in state of deliama as the speaker of the state house of Assembly has reconvene a fresh meeting targeted at pacifying his colleagues to join suit.

The meeting was held at the official resident of the speaker, Francis Nwafuru, on Sunday evening.

However, the morning is still ongoing at the time (7:50pm) of filling in this report.

Correspondents outside the venue of the meeting observed that some of the members left in anger.

But the decamping plot by the state governor has become a reality, although Umahi would at any moment make it public.

BluntNigerian:
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has expressed optimism that all results of the Ondo State governorship election would be ready by Sunday afternoon.

The commission said about 75 percent of the election results from all polling units in the state had been uploaded on its results viewing portal.

The INEC Senior National Commissioner, Prof Anthonia Simbine, disclosed this on Saturday evening when she featured on a television programme in Akure, the state capital.

She said: “I don’t think we can say for definite now. We all know that Ondo State is quite large with varying types of terrains including going over the seas.

“All the results have to come in before we can really say.

“Right now, polling units’ results have been uploaded. We have about 75 percent of those units’ results uploaded on the INEC results viewing portal.

“But nothing can happen. These have to pass through the Registration Area/Ward Level collation as well as local government collation centres.

“We are aware particularly in the case of Ilaje that they have not concluded their RA collation and they will be doing that at Igbokoda hopefully tonight.

“It is doubtful that they will be able to come at all. But hopefully, probably, by mid-day tomorrow (Sunday), everything should be in, plus or minus.”
