FOLYKAZE: And this is intelligence you always claim...were you not saying devil in yoruba belief? I said there is nothing like such in yoruba spirituality and you here saying NO. Why did you attribute devil to yoruba spirituality when you know there is nothing of such in it? This is western intelligent brainwashing and illusion. You not worth discussing this with.......aaaaaannnddd you still didn't answer the question. Perhaps you'd like to tell me about the weather in yoruba afterlife next? How you jump to your conclusions deserves some sort of scientific study, good ser. You display excellent comprehension and reasoning skills. Couple that with your defensiveness and it makes for brilliant bufoonry, good theist. Far too much for a mere mortal like me to take on. At least, not without a lot of pay. So, as reverse psychology seems to work on you, don't sharrap! Sorry about the maradona bit, I meant to say bebe, or a granny suiting up against last season's bayern |
Chibuebem: do you watch naruto wiegraf? Or read the anime? It's read the mango. Yes, sadly. It's sheet. I much prefer one piece these days (and I used to denigrate it once upon a time....) What does that have to do with anything though? |
FOLYKAZE: You said im not atheist.....prove to me im not. Stop running around the bush. YOU IN THE VERY SAME POST:No, but it has sango, ogun, ese, etc etc, as you graciously list all the time, yes? Just as xtians have yah'weh and satan, Norse had thor and loki. Children have santa. Do you have evidence that proves any of these exist? You've reviewed the evidence for any, and are convinced they do? Do you even know what atheism is? The italicized, considering the situation, is just awesome. So, once again, you fail to answer the simplest, most basic of questions me: do you think whatever is responsible can be studied by science? you: If science can investigate it, good for them.....all I know it that it happen. The rest is your hd.If you cannot answer in the affirmative to this simple question, then you aren't an atheist. This, good ser, is cowardice. A simple yes or no, yet we get maradona instead, needlessly to boot. You don't want to be seen as a theist, why should I care, lol. You're clearly a theist, deal with it. |
^^^ While this is all, as usual, nonsense, let me highlight the most pertinent bit here me: So, do you think whatever is responsible can be studied by science? you: Answers not giving in a day.....let science continue it investigation on it. You can do criticism job while those who are ready for work are on field.Again, bros, simple question. Yet you choose to dance rather badly around it. Or do you have comprehension problems? So again, me: So, do you think whatever is responsible can be studied by science?Simple yes or no would do, thank you. Why are you so scared of being a theist? Let it all out. As they say, 'tell the truth and let the devil be ashamed', or whoever the devil is in yoruba fairy tales. folykaze: I didnt raise up discussion with you. You the one that mentioned my name. I didn't say im theist or agnostist....you the one forcing it down my throat. Get a life manHave you so far, in any way, shown how you qualify as an atheist? So, I was.....correct? I called a spade a spade, and you proceed to whine. Perhaps you're some sort of special entity that cannot have his name mentioned on a.....public forum? No, my good offended, I am offended when you imply I'm a 'nairaland atheist'. Please explain what that means, as you've far failed failed rather spectacularly. Why is your juju too special for us uncouth 'nairaland atheists'? Do we need 'faith' to be special as well? |
Chibuebem: true ignorance is stupidly believing what your evolutionists tell you happened millions of years ago and blasting theists who have faith in God. The only difference between your faith and the christian faith is that ours yields results of a new life and nature. Yours make you lifted up in pride, arrogance, and I'm sorry to say FoolishnessGoot, goot, let it all out my born again brother. All this lacks are your usual threats of hell fire. Incoming right about....... |
Chibuebem: since when does evolution conform to the laws of science? If you can tell me that, I'll doff my hat, until then, stop hiding behind the mask of scienceThe ignorance in this post is of the sort that makes me want to pull out all my hair. So please, let me go.... |
FOLYKAZE: Defensive? How? Im not agnostic or theist.....so stop throwing terms which are meant for me.I should stop throwing terms that are 'meant for you'. Is this a freudian slip? lol. So defensive, what are you so scared of? Losing 'e-points'? Nothing wrong with being a theist.. FOLYKAZE: I dont subscribe to supernatural. I know things are happening in my environment but dont really know how, why, and what made it happen. I dont think I have to deny it because I cant explain it. If thats what you call supernatural, good for you......nothing supernatural in my world....everything in nature is super enough. So, do you think whatever is responsible can be studied by science? FOLYKAZE: You dont know what sango is. Your knowledge about it is that of corrupt depiction by western religion. You need to make a step ahead christianity and Islam. If you think sango is a monster living in the sky....thats your cup of tea.....sango, ogun and ifa mean more to me than you think. Go learn about it before we talk on that.Well... wiki: According to Yoruba and Vodou belief systems, Shango hurls bolts of lightning at the people chosen to be his followers, leaving behind imprints of stone axe blades on the Earth's crust. These blades can be seen easily after heavy rains. Veneration of Shango enables—according to Yoruba belief—a great deal of power and self-control. FOLYKAZE: What the fvck is sango doing in creation myth? Guy/man sorry to say, you religatheist. And what was that you were saying about labels? You just created one of thin air just for me? Man, I'm honored. Again, just in case it didn't get through to you, you've said absolutely nothing of value. Just answer the simple questions please, without silly dribbles and slips, else......sharrap |
thehomer: You must be very good at exposing his folly. Please how do you do it? I need to learn so I can quickly shut dull people like him down.Take a cue from the other homer wiki: Castellaneta's normal speaking voice has no similarity to Homer's.[8] To perform Homer's voice, Castellaneta lowers his chin to his chest,[3] and is said to "let his IQ go."It requires practice though |
Uyi Iredia: If ! denotes it as a factorial the equation holds. That doesn't mean you have properly rebutted my claim where you first brought it up. I explained to, as I did thehomer, why maths involves a contradiction, in particular it violares the law of identity. Playing blind hardly reduces abything to whargarbl except your thinking.Simply, is there anywhere in the universe, or any conceivable universe actually, where 2+2 != 4? Also, please show how. |
FOLYKAZE: Nairaland atheist not a new thing on this forum......you only want to deny that. You sound defensive, what do you have to hide? Are you ashamed of being agnostic or a theist? Explain what these NL atheists are pls, as all I see around are..............atheists. Simple. You've never met an atheist? Visit reddit for instance, tell me exactly what makes NL atheists different to other atheists, other than of course, geography, else......... sharrap Anyways, notice they're a loose bunch as well? We all largely agree on something though, related to supernatural googlod: su·per·nat·u·ralSo, do sango et al qualify as supernatural, and were they involved in creation? |
FOLYKAZE: Im not nairaland atheist. That sound cool right?Never actually saw this. No such thing as NL atheist. Lemme see, do you believe the supernatural was involved in creation, and of just this universe or everything (ignore paradox here pls)? |
Amateurs. Took you 6-7 posts to reduce uyi to whargarbl? I usually do that in ~2 2+2!=4 ....smh for you uyi (and no, genius, the '!' != factorial, see?) |
@ray, it's not that straight forward. Importantly, most of those states you name (if not all) are more or else religious, they simply substitute oyinbo in the sky with the party, whatever it might be. Parties often complete with prophets even, capable of superhuman feats (, eg our dear leader kim, google his amazing accomplishments if you've never heard of them (I'm on mobile atm, so can't be bothered with linking)) who can do now wrong. I'm not sure anyone knows exactly how many wives chairman mao had, the cult of personality built around him is so pervasive nobody actually knows what's true or false, no one can actually tell you what his real personality really was like. Stalin, even modern day putin and his superman nonsense (to a lesser degree, mostly due to media today, especially the internet, if he could get away with constantly lying to sheeple I guarantee you he would), etc etc And note, though weary of the competition, Hitler USED religion, (ie of the traditional sort; xtianity,) for his propaganda. So whether he actually believed or not is irrelevant here. The sheeple blindly followed as they believed they were ordained by god, via hitler, to get rid of jews, etc etc. Despots never need to actually believe their BS, indeed arguably most of them didn't/don't, what matters is its usefulness in keeping the flock meek for the shepherd. Communists, on the other hand, feared the competition from churches and thereby squished them, redirecting the blind faith in god to the party. So, all those are religious, and certain philosophies could be termed 'religious' as well, but not all religions are equal. Simply observe the islamic world's foibles as against the rest of the world's to see what I mean. Or even the states you list as opposed to secular democracies. It would be disingenuous to suggest secular democracies are more distasteful to most here than theocracies, yes? Church, whatever type of church, separated from state, often is far fairer/productive than the alternative. I would say ultimately though, the only thing that really matters with regards to development is the effective rule of law. This breeds trust and communication, without these societies break down. It's the reason certain benevolent dictatorships work despite their less than admirable human rights records; so long as they can enforce the law effectively (and they aren't too greedy/corrupt), the rest will fall into place. Young democracies incapable of effectively enforcing the law frequently fumble, simply look at 9ja. That's not to say it's impossible for then, it clearly is, just that without the heavy-handedness of dictatorships the establishment of the effective rule of law could be more difficult. Point of this is that that's all any government need provide; effective law and enforcement. Putting religion into the mix, any sort religion, simply poisons stuff (especially in today's world). Again, simply look at 9ja and our zealous religious population or any theocracy Don't have time to edit this atm, but I suppose the point has been made |
Op, you and the likes of folykaze never were atheists per say. I don't even recall you calling yourself atheist, it was usually agnostic/freethinker Good for you and whatever paths you choose, as long as you don't become sheeple and separate church/state. Kudos |
Logicboy03: Sir Epic Whargarbll,I need explain? Thanks for proving my point |
Mr anony: 1. Physics has nothing to do with the fact that the non-material effects the material.Which infinite regress bros? I've been very clear; source is matter. Physics DEMANDS it unless you can show otherwise, simples. |
Uyi Iredia: Yeah right ! Someone sh*t in his pants thinks he has a good excuse. To think I used to wonder why @lb was the only who shuts you up. |
Hello there african man. Under the illusion the pope is losing sleep over what you think? It seems to me he's come to the realization he needs to dissociate himself from you clowns in order to save his church. |
Logicboy03: Yes, welcome them in the op if possibleHold on, I'll go look for a special needs teacher with crayons to explain this for you.... |
Logicboy03: There is no known Voodooist here so why not replace it with the known non-christian beliefs or disbeliefs eg deism, buddhism, paganism etcThere, key word. Known. There could be, and the idea is be welcoming to ALL groups, ALL. Even those regarded as far off in some quarters, eg voodooists, no discrimination, see? |
Logicboy03: Imbe, can you please try to realise that we cant include all the hundreds of non christian religions or beliefs into the title bar?Man, your eediocy knows no bounds. That's exactly my point, and it's clearly been accounted for. Again, read the title. So tell me, what makes you the arbiter on which groups are used as an example in the op and which are not? Are the groups you're advocating for intrinsically more special or valuable than the others? Here, a theist explains something similar, hopefully he can get through to you. You might speak on the same terms Pope, or as catholics claim, GODS??!!'s voice on earth:I hope that works for you now, yes? Wasting time on trivial matters and marginalizing groups on top of that... SMH... |
Logicboy03: Why not replace Voodoo with deism?Again, are you blind?? ME: "The Non-christian Chatbox ( Atheists, Buddhists, Voodooism Etc)"Do you really need a dictionary? What exactly do you think 'non-christian' and 'etc' in this context mean? Logicboy03: You want me to butthurt you this morning? When I reason out why you think this possible, it makes me sad... |
Logicboy03: There is limited space on the title bar. Wouldnt it make more sense to use thr space wisely and mention only the beliefs that are present on nl religion section? And here's the thread title, in case you're having comprehension problems; "The Non-christian Chatbox ( Atheists, Buddhists, Voodooism Etc)" Please note the bolded words. Don't make me get out a dictionary. The only problem I see here is the inclusion of muslims, who happen their very own section for their cancer. Else, problems, where? |
Logicboy03: Jainism and the rest can be mentioned in the op if necessaryAnd you are the arbiter of 'necessary'? |
Logicboy03: You do realise that there are many non xtian religions or spirituality?Erm, you do realize that's my point, yes? |
Logicboy03: Shut up.And what is wrong with putting janaism in there, oh great hypocrite? Are you saying there's no chance of one popping up? Are you saying there's never been a jain visiting this place, even if lurking, yes? You do realize this thread wasn't created for just you, yes? |
This is a chat thread. A random thread. Anything goes. Talk about whatever nonsense you want to, to chill or relax perhaps, agitate or whatever (like some of you seem to be doing). However, IT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE ANYTHING SERIOUS. You want to deal with serious topics? Open a thread about said serious topic. And exactly what in the world is wrong with being a 'voodooist'? Unless they themselves are unhappy with the term, they happen to be people too. And quite a few people have no problem with it, it seems. They are not supposed to be welcome?? Atheists do not want to be associated with voodooists? We're somehow better than them or what? If one were whining about the non-inclusive nature of the abrahamic chat threads, then came here to whine about the inclusion of other groups in this thread, then well..... |
Finally, @localomos, it was freed. Here |
okeyxyz: Your questions don't seem to have any bearings on my postings and judgments here, perhaps you mistake me for somebody else?? so you are not addressing(or you misunderstand) them. Your argument was that homosexuality is "ubiquitous" amongst other species and I agree(though it's still debated in the scientific community, but let's suppose it's true..), but your flaw is in justifying the correctness of homosexuality based on it's ubiquitousness, this is bad reasoning, borne more out of political appeal rather than a scientific one(being that you guys --atheists-- purport to be the defenders of science). I have already stated(and of which anybody whether a scientist or not can observe) nature is very flawed both in a spiritual and scientific context and that these arising mental and biological diseases/disorders/deviations and in this case--homosexuality, are the result of these flaws. No, those questions are for you. The bolded is not what I was doing Localamos: Natural inter.course is between a man and a woman. Any variance from that is paraphalia. me: Let's ignore that homosexual activity, including full intercourse, is ubiquitous in nature. We'll also ignore that primary/exclusive homosexuality has also been observed, for now..The aim being to differentiate between paraphillia (fetishes, lekpa or big, feet, whips etc) and orientation (homo, hetero, bi, asexual). My argument was homosexuality is ubiquitous in nature, fetishes (or parahillia if you will) are not. As for using nature the way you do to justify terming homosexuality as an aberration, it's folly. I only mention it when people bring it up, to point out they would still be wrong if they called it unnatural, despite it's inherent sillyness. Adding to what's in that post already; why stop there? Like I've said elsewhere, black man has proven himself fairly useless at living in this world, why don't we go ahead and get rid of this aberration as well? Consider, we're a minority, there are more oyinbo and chinese around, and they evolved after us (implicitly better some would say, no?). Also, I don't think we were meant to use computers, or do you see any other animals in nature using those? On the xtian front, why do you go about labeling some of your god's creations aberrations anyways? Especially when they are perfectly happy with themselves and not bothering anyone, hmm? etc etc And again, other animals in nature use homosexuality as a social tool, all the other animals with fairly complex social structures and mental capabilities approaching ours use it, most prominent example being bonobos. But like I said, using nature as a template is pure folly else, again, toss out your pc. |
I'm having a hard time recalling why vedax is ghey |
obadiah777: hey wiegraf whats good sire ? whats the request ? you want me to delete the whole thread ?Lol no, oga. Spambot got my post. The very first one with the 'post hidden' on this thread. Not sure how to get the exact URL of the post, thanks. |
OBADIAH!!! wiegraf: MODS OH! ABEGI MY POST HERE! DO I HAVE TO WAIT TILL JESUS RETURNS? |
