You can't see any valid reason because you have chosen to close your mind to reasoning..

First of all, what makes Wike a good candidate for Governor when he did nothing for Obio Apkor LGA during his time as Chairman.

Secondly, when you say he rescued Rivers State PDP, I laugh because they created the problems they were rescuing the state from. Wike and his crew Bipi and Felix messed up Rivers State PDP and the polity of the state. Everybody knew for years that what he was gunning for was to succeed Amaechi as Governor. Well, we have seen his final move, sadly Rivers State indigenes were 10 moves ahead of him.

Finally, only someone whose mind is closed towards reality would try to separate ethnicity from Nigerian Politics. Even people from within the same ethnic and tribal group fight let alone a State as Ethnically complex as Rivers State. Know this now, An Ikwerre Man can not succeed an Ikwerre Man in Rivers State.. I can argue for Upland communities like the Ogonis and Opobo people's, but I strongly feel like it's time for the power to shift to the Riverine people of Rivers State..


If you say Wike saved Rivers PDP, then I just want to say that Wike just killed Rivers PDP because of his greed to get power.

He actually tried as a LG chairman when you consider the fact that a lot of LG chairmen do nothing. I live in Woji, and at least to the very minimum, he did miniwoji road; It's a case of one-eyed man in the land of the blind...

I wouldn't say he messed up Rivers PDP directly anyways. He only aligned with the people that did (PEJ comes to mind). For years, what I saw was Wike's senatorial ambition (I must have been sleeping on keke ) until, again, PEJ intervened.

Maybe we all need to close our minds towards reality, because whether you choose to admit it or not, ethnicity is a major bane in our society (and sadly, it's not going away anytime soon)

Let's hope that they can still get the Senate, Reps and Assembly seats.

I mean, Wike singlehandedly rescued PDP in Rivers so even if he'll lose (which I doubt) he deserves a shot at the very least. After all, without him, all those other people he contested with might even be in APC by now!!!!!

If you're in Rivers, take a survey. Ask 20 ogonis if they will vote for Abe. Their replies may surprise you.

What Amaechi should have done was to court a more favorable, preferably ogoni candidate (Prof Baridam?) to APC and campaigned massively for him. By choosing Peterside, he has lost out on the votes of the ogonis (I never really believed Magnus Abe had a chance of getting the governorship ticket).

I just don't see Peterside defeating Wike come February 2015.

P.S.: Live in PH but not from Rivers, and I can't care less about PDP and APC politricks!!!

I concur. But, the question we should be asking is why won't the move be successful? Is it for the fact that it is the wrong thing to do (that GEJ's administration has been given a pass mark by majority of senators in the house) OR is it that the senators have been cajoled, persuaded, blackmailed or possibly bribed to kill the move? That is what is pertinent, what bears finding out.

From your assertions, going by what's been happening in the polity, I believe the latter, rather than the former will be the stumbling block...

People will deny/ignore truth even if it slapped them in the face!!!
