ohakskid: Are you still processing Uni-bambergs' admission ? I thought you already applied. Let me help you out, so you don't waste your time and money, if you don't have up 117 ECTS in Computer science Modules don't apply, you need IELTS or TOEFL, so forget English was my medium of instruction bla bla bla. A friend of mine was rejected, because of this, although he studied software engineering. He had insufficient computer science ECTS. Admission is becoming competitive, your bachelor degree has to be related to the master degree you are applying for. And you don't need a secondary school transcript if you are applying for a master degree. 1 Like |

nevilbot: This can only be done in Nigeria, that is the information from Nigerian Embassy in Berlin. If it is contested in the court of law, what that person did is fraudulent. One of the main reason Germans allow Nigerians the privileged is because of the technicality involve. Did you read the other part where it was written, that a citizen of Nigeria by birth may not renounce his Nigerian citizenship, being that he is allowed, under Nigerian Law, to acquire the citizenship or nationality of a second country, without the necessity to renounce the citizenship of the country of his/her birth (Nigeria). Take note of MAY NOT, renouncing is not as easy as you may see it. you don't just fill a form and swear an affidavit that you are no longer Nigerian and then it get simply approved. Germans are aware of this, that is why Nigeria is included in the list of dual citizenship. |

nevilbot: please remove the wiki reference, it is not a reliable source. Here is the constitution in respect to renouncing your citizenship 29. (1) Any citizen of Nigeria of full age who wishes to renounce his Nigerian citizenship shall make a declaration in the prescribed manner for the renunciation. (2) The President shall cause the declaration made under subsection (1) of this section to be registered and upon such registration, the person who made the declaration shall cease to be a citizen of Nigeria. (3) The President may withhold the registration of any declaration made under subsection (1) of this section if- (a) the declaration is made during any war in which Nigeria is physically involved; or (b) in his opinion, it is otherwise contrary to public policy. (4) For the purposes of subsection (1) of this section. (a) "full age" means the age of eighteen years and above; (b) any woman who is married shall be deemed to be of full age. So technically if you renounce your citizenship and it was not approved by the president, it is null and void 1 Like 1 Share |

Eke40seven: Spot on! RENUNCIATION OF NIGERIAN CITIZENSHIP The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria wishes to inform all prospective applicants who desire to renounce their Nigerian citizenship that the power to approve renunciation of Nigerian citizenship or restoration of same is the sole prerogative of Mr. President, as enshrined in Chapter III, Article 29, sub. Section 1-2, of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999). Kindly note, therefore, that such powers are NOT TRANSFERABLE and that the process can only be carried out in Nigeria. Furthermore, please be informed that a citizen of Nigeria by birth may not renounce his Nigerian citizenship, being that he is allowed, under Nigerian Law, to acquire the citizenship or nationality of a second country, without the necessity to renounce the citizenship of the country of his/her birth (Nigeria). lobito007:Yes we have.... But on a serious note, I would want us to revive the other thread on life as a student in Germany. Let everyone come in there once a while and drop one or two tips on survival, study and how they relax in Germany. I only came back here when things became too monotonous, read---eat--- sleep---work---read---eat--sleep---work. even the party that most guys and girls are so crazy about are always soooo boring. No wonder the depression rate here is so high. Schooling here is fun oh, but deep down no place like naija ohh. I miss those crazy roommates and flatmates that make you switch off and reboot. If you are an introvert, hmm better learn how to talk and mingle before coming here, Your language skill will also be a barrier, so better learn some German 1 Like 1 Share |

Schwartz: Hehehe you just gave an apt description of kitchen hustle.... on Point! Let me write mine too. But I'm not a fan of writing long essays. Anyway here is my story so far. I came to Germany as everyone else and decided to learn the language first, during this period the kind of jobs i did were just the normal "Umzugshilfe" which literally is relocation assistance kind of work. I did this job because I was paid in cash, no giving of bank details and no tax whatsoever. Take note, if you are not strong enough, don't try this job. The last job i did nearly broke my spine after moving household stuffs from a second floor apartment to a third floor apartment without lifts and with a narrow stairs, that was what broke the last straw in me. Meanwhile, I was earning 100€ monthly, if you ask me from where, i can't write that here. But it was legal and had all my records on it. So, the other job was just a side job which wasn't regular but I earned at least 50€ per day and the most i have earned was 100€ for 3hrs, thar was from the last job. After my language exams my studies began, I was able to express my self to most of my profs in German and they were amazed as to how fluent i was in the language within a short period of time. This created an opportunity for me and I got a HIWI contract, my duty was translating a part of the University's' site to English. This was a turning point in my life. I worked directly from home at my convenience which gave me flexibility. Although it is always good working from home, but you need a high level of discipline if you want to achieve maximum work time. This job gave me the opportunity to play around TYPO3 and now i am good working with it. It is already on my CV..lol. Before my contract expired, I got another offer to work in another Faculty as a computer technician and text corrector. my job details was simple, format bible text in office or latex and ensure all PC and projectors are working efficiently. I had to put the job on hold till August, this has been my work experience so far. Meanwhile, I have also worked in a logistic factory for two weeks, earned some hard cash but the pain afterwards is a story for another day. I have not worked in the kitchen despite reading lots of adverts, most of my German friends work in a bar or club or restaurant. So its no big deal working in the Gastronomiebranche. 14 Likes 1 Share |

marie96: I only know about my faculty which happen to be nice in regards to prof student ratio. You are able to schedule personal coaching time with your Prof. if you have problems with his/her modules. This privilege you won't find in bigger schools. As for the town, you can google it up, I like it here, it's not so big and not so small, just perfect. I know your next question...... there are student jobs available if you have the energy to work.....Lmao, but try and learn the Language sha......my two cents. |

ohakskid:dude is your use of English that bad? If you passed English in Waec, you should be able to score at least 7.0 without breaking a sweat. Study IELTS materials and get used to the exam format. All you need is 2weeks. Most schools require a 6.5. |

UncleJudax: Simple, you have to prove to the VO that you can still do great exploits here in Nigeria even if you are denied. I know you will ask me how? I am a living testimony.
My first trip to Germany '7weeks' was for a language course. The interview then didn't go as plan but at the end my visa was approved. The lady who interviewed me insisted I attend Goethe institüt instead of going to Germany. Well, my scheduled time to travel was August which happen to a holiday period in Geothe. Then i applied for a study visa, which of course was still a language course, interviewed by the then dreaded old German lady, my interview was more or less like a chat because all she did was repeated all the information I handed over to her and she asked the same interview questions posted here.Mind you, my language course admission letter stated, I was going to write DSH at the end of the program, in other to write DSH you need a provincial admission letter from the Universität, Language course route is possible, if only you are meticulous. you have to cross all Ts and dot all Is. NB: please learn German in Nigeria to B1 level if you intend to use this path. Using zero German knowledge is a RED FLAG 2 Likes |

dprinz99:Getting a language visa is possible only if you don't show how desperate you need it. My advice for Leprof is, learn German here in Nigeria and get an admission letter from a Uni, not language school, stating that at the end of your Language course, you will be able to write DSH, which will enable you study here in Germany. NB: you need at least B1 level to get this kind of offer. 1 Like |

ohakskid: Your situation is a very tricky one. Did you take any course on data structure and algorithm, intro to programming, and at least some programming language courses like pascal and the likes ? Without the aforementioned courses, sorry to say, your chances are very low. That was why i said, it is easier if you had a computer science or maths background. Yes i am a student in Bamberg and you should learn any development language before coming, it will ease your stay here. |
