NGpatriot:Who told you Anambra State Government don't invest in their people? Have you reading the NBS statistics of late? Anambra is one of the least poverty afflicted states in Nigeria only second to Osun. Secondly, if you understand how investment works, you'll know Obi's foresight in opening a dollar denominated portfolio on behalf of the Anambra State Government is an asset to Ndi Anambra, you know why? Because the asset is an income stream that accrues daily as interest to ANSG. During the acute recession in 2015 when State were unable to pay the wages and running to the FG for Bail-out, how do you think ANSG was able to manage their wages, ite simple. Obaino withdrew the interest rate on the dollar denominated portfolio account that has accrued over a month to match it with the little that came from allocation, that's why Anambra wasn't really affected by the crisis. Thirdly, money will always be floating and recycling in the economy so long as the people of Anambra are always involved in buying and selling of goods and services . Mind you, Obi didn't take the entire revenue of Anambra to store in a portfolio account, that would be tantamount to acute stupidity, he only set aside a minute percentage probably 5% of the revenue for savings and investments which every responsible government around the world does.. |
it really shocking that many people are confused on the difference between savings and investment. A state governor thought it wise to open a portfolio account on behalf of Anambra State and set aside a percentage of their yearly budgets that will be put into the portfolio account for investment. A portfolio account is clearly an account that is used to buy investible assets like Bonds, Treasury bills, and other assets which will be managed by an asset manger on behalf of the investors(Anambra State Government). Peter Obi thought it wise for save for future generations by investing in dollar denominated treasury bills and bonds that will hedge against the failing naira and yield fantastic interest for the later generations of Ndi Anambra to use when there's a major crisis in the future and some people in this group have the effrontery to say Peter Obi took an unwise decisions. Saner countries like Norway, UAE and Luxembourg set aside a percentage of their budget and put the funds in a Sovereign Wealth Funds that will later be invested in quality assets and values around world and back home in our country even our government thought it wise to enact the Excess Crude Account (ECA) funds to save up a certain amount of our yearly revenue for investment but someone in Anambra State as far back as 2011 started saving a portion of their revenue for investment and some people said it was unwise of him?? . Some people are clearly stupid if they don't realize that Peter Obi took one of the best decision for Anambra by doing just that. he's a legend!!! |
NGpatriot:are you chronically stupid or what? that money wasn't just dumb in a bank account for the bank to be reaping interest. A portfolio account was opened on behalf of the Anambra State Government and it was used to buy foreign assets like US bonds and treasury bills. do you know what that means? it means for very day that passes by Anambra State Portfolio account will accrue a daily percent interest rate in dollars till it reaches maturity. it's very clear you don't know how investments works. I suggest you meet companies like ARM, Aiico and Meristem to put you through on the important of investments. |
Eternal rest grant unto her oh God and let your eternal light shine upon her |
Tap0lane:A non-entity politician like Victor Umeh alleged that Peter Obi left a anambra in substantial but whereas DMO debt management organizations has published statistics indicating Anambra was one of the least indebted state, Now ask yourself truthfully, which should I believe, DMO or Umeh?? |
I am very much surprised to read how people are condemning Obi for leaving investible assets on behalf of the state. In countries like Norway, UAE, do you know how much they set aside from their budgets to be invested for future generation purposes? No State Government since 1999 has ever left their government on credit by the end of their tenure. It's always been debt after debt with little to show for the huge amount they borrowed. It is very pathetic that people are chiding for Obi, did Obi tell you that he didn't invest in infrastructure while he was in government. I know for a fact that he really invested in education. Peter Obi is the politician I know since 1999 that has not been investigated by any anti-graft agencies both within and without. Anyway I have come to the conclusion that Nigerians as a people are the main architect of their own problems, we'll continue to remain the laughing stock of the continent. No wonder South African nairalanders like TMKsouth and Irongalaxy will alway take a swipe at our foolishness and how we play primitive politics.. |
obailala:That guy you quoted is chronic fool. He said 75billon naira could build 1000mega watts and gas pipeline, if that's the case, why hasn't Lagos State constructed series of 1000mega watts power plants ![]() |
techmo:Who told you there's high unemployment in Anambra State, go and check the NBS statistics since 2015, Anambra has one of the least poverty prevalence ratio in Nigeria... |
Any chest-beating topic in front page. When are we ever gonna learn to remain humble in our achievements. Always boastful... Tufiakwa!! |
It's a good thing they are adopting a similar style to how Roman Catholics handle the issues of secession to the Seat of the Bassilica. Enthroned by Conclave (election) and not selection |
Jesus!! this people can lie!! ![]()

Stan2330:you don't mean it?? |
That TSTV has been fraudulent right from the first start, trying to tap an exclusive sport content from the Arab nation and streaming it live to the Nigerian viewers when you were aware that it's only DSTV through "Supersport" that got the exclusive right to air thier sport channel to sub-saharan African. Instead of them the code thier fraudulent act, they started making undue noise up and down. If you go to places like Aba, Onitsha and Portharcourt, they are companies that stream live sport contents from the arab nations to thier viewers here and those viewers pay a fee for that. This has been ongoing for years without much noise because they know it's illegal to tap an channel that's got exclusive rights. Anyway, the manger no get sense. DSTV kon use am chop better money for lawsuit... |
