NGpatriot: Hi If you are going to ask and challenge what I said, why not just show us the global brands like Dominos, KFC, Stone Cold creamery anywhere in the SE village.
In fact, I said global brand, meaning popular international brands, not local make shit eateries like crunches or whatever you call it.
Btw, international brands are investors, they create jobs and generate IGR for the government, they support local economies and recycle money all the way down to farmers, vendors, transporters and so on. They source most of their raw materials here in Nigeria.
KFC source their chicken from the largest poultry farm in Osun state, meaning their activities support growth and development in Osun state, they create jobs and IGR in Osun state.
Governments all over the world stage trade summits and go on trade trips to have foreign investors invest and create jobs in their country, but to shallow people in Nigeria, it's a bad idea because they send money back to their country.
And you wonder why the SE is so poor and void of credible investments. At the bolded, who told you that those local brands we have don't also support the local economy the way the international brands does. Look, I'll rather have the locals doing stuffs like this than international investors. That's why the FG will always encourage by giving them tax holidays and other benefits in order to enable them to grow. Because you aren't well traveled, you think it's only your father's backyard is where fruit trees grow, you better learn to visit and get exposure... |

NGpatriot: Their governors are still preoccupied with wheelbarrow, borehole and roadside kerosene sharing.
SE is unproductive, there's nothing in that region to attract any meaningful investment and you'll never see brands like KFC, Dominos, Stone cold creamery anywhere in the SE, but they are all over the SW.
The SE is poor, the purchasing power is little or nothing, the business environment is too unfriendly, too hostile and not even enough educated manpoer to sustain meaningful business activities. why do you mumble false claims, who told you they aren't in the eastern region? we do have our own local homegrown fast food companies like crunchies, eggle springing up within the region. that should tell you that the local economy is burgeoning and alive. All those brands you mentioned are foreign brands, all their profits will be repatriated to their homeland. but that's not the case here, at least their profits will be used to further expand their operations... |

Oshigun: This is a sentimental statement and not a factual one. Igbo are economic saboteurs with their system of trading, retail shop ownership and apprentice structure they deliberately use to make money that will almost 100% be funneled back to Ala Igbo without attendant benefits to host Countries, States and region where they make that money in the form of tax or developmental levies etal.
Look at the filth Ladipo was before Fashola got really mad with Igbos and their neglectful ways. A place generating billions for Igbos yet they cannot throw a bit of change to ensure the environment is cleans, canals dredged and pollution kept to a minimal. This is because Igbos only love using others to feather their nest. They don't care about their host and their geographical/financial wellbeing.
A lot of innocent Nigerians suffered because of the retail trade war Ghana enacted against Nigerians when it was Igbos who are the sole culprit of sharp trading practices Ghana could not condone.
Some of us defended Nigeria nonetheless even when we knew the details to understand that the anger of Ghana stems from the reality of how Igbos set up shop in Ghanaian markets, robbing Ghanaians of market presence, while paying no tax to the government of Ghana!!! Igbos were making Ghanaians unemployed yet expected tax remittance that would alleviate that negative economic development were conspicuously missing.
How is that acceptable to any fair-minded person? It is the same practice everywhere Igbos go. Igbos take an extremely clannish and hostile approach to trading designed to see them and their kinsmen profit while others who facilitate their trade gain little or nothing in return via employment (Igbos don't employ non-Igbos) or payment of taxes, developmental levies etc.
Anyone who think Igbo retailers and traders, the bulk and majority of their business presence in the SW, pay appreciable tax on their profit is a m0r0n. if the igbo traders don't pay tax as alluded by you then why do i see LIRS Tax outlets in every major markets where the igbos are dominant?. Even the local government goes to collect their taxes from them every month. you see your blind hatred to the them won't change the fact that they are a significant contributor to the economy of Lagos State, that doesn't mean other ethnic groups aren't doing nothing. You better learn to "accomodate" as you claim. if you can't help it, you can exit Lagos and relocate to Ekiti... |

codemaniacs: ajl this comment is in reply to oshigun ( i have read your reply to oshigun where you called him "Very shallow statements. Typical tribalist" )..
Notice the part I put in bold in winterfell007 comment...
It took me years to understand and accept it but this is the truth.. but people will support and fund politicians, bizmen, gangsters e.t.c that support their interests and welfare at the detriments of the indigenes ( in this case Yoruba ). so Yorubas that aren't protectionist and tribalist will lose to non-Yorubas that are protectionist and tribalist in Yoruba territories.
from your comment to Oshigun, its proof that you're not Yoruba, no sane Yoruba person will call another Yoruba person a tribalist ...
stop hiding behind the " my used to sell in Balogun market area" lie that's rubbish.. What your point exactly?? The truth is that Lagos is the success story of everybody who works or carrys out one activity or another. You cannot attribute the success of Lagos to any one enthic group, that's actually where I fault my people for the being that naive to think the success of Lagos is hinged on their industrious nature. At the same, I must commend their resilience in thriving in homelands that aren't native or indigenous to them. It speaks volumes.. |
Politics › Re: Lagos State Records ₦282.6 Billion Q1 2020 Revenue by winterfell007(m): 3:07pm On May 21, 2020 |
Oshigun: People who work with facts, either because they love Lagos and desire her progress or because their profession encourages them to alway recognize proven statistics, Will know that the Igbos are not assets to Lagos. At all. They are mainly saboteurs. It is only their business leaders like Ovia, Elumelu etal who contribute substantially to the IGR of Lagos.
Meanwhile the contribution of those people is dwarfed by that of their Yoruba peers who are far more in number.
Overall, only the Igbos themselves and uninformed Yorubas think Igbos are as important to Lagos as they claim.
They actually benefit more from Lagos than they give back which makes them an economic deficit to the State rather than an asset.
This is why I encourage and will continue to encourage them daily to leave Lagos and see if the State "crashes" as they threaten will happen if they depart back to Ala Igbo. I can agree that my people at times might be sentimental and somewhat boastful in a rather annoying way but you can't tell me they are not a significant contributor to GDP of Lagos state that would be a big fat lie. SME industry is the engine room of any fledgling economy and this is an industry the igbos are very active on and thrive so well, hence, I guess that's why they make so much noise about it. Secondly, you cannot term the igbos 'Saboteurs' because they don't like Tinubu(ojukokoro) and or APC. They have every right to support any registered political party of their choice that will promote their interests and welfare so long as the contribute their quota toward development like taxes and levy which I'm very sure they pay in all those thriving markets you term '2 by 2'. It is part of the political process, nothing wrong with that... |

tamdun: Buhari had the power to use the money for another project but he chose Anambra, u better not transfer hatred to your offsprings First of all, he doesn't have the power to transfer the project someplace else. Here are my reasons: 1.Abacha's loot is what is critically funding three important projects in Nigeria, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Abuja-Kaduna-Kano expressway and the Second Niger Bridge with strict monitoring by the US and other agency. If Buhari attempts to divert the plan, some of Nigeria's foreign assets could be seized as signed when Nigeria took charge of the recovered loot 2. The three highlighted projects forms part of the NSIA targeted projects of investment. Which means all projects will be tolled upon completion to generate new streams of income to NSIA (Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority). This has always been the plan since the GEJ administration, Buhari, thankfully is following that up to the letter. |
