no one is saying Amaechi Never started it. Amechi practically abandoned the projects and used the funds to finance Buhari's Campaign that's the issue. Wike practically met an abandoned project. in the case of Jonathan, those projects buhari took credits for were very active during and after the campaigns. Even Buhari honestly distanced himself from those singing his praises for works done by the previous administration. Wike is not taking glory for these projects,he's only promising to complete projects started by the pass administrations. Government is a continuum. omenka: |
free2ryhme:that does not an excuse. in making appointments be it ministerial or administrative you must reflect the diversity of the this country. No one is telling him to sacrifice competence for Nepotism. they are competent people to be found in the entire region not only in a specific region. so far he has shown that he is sectional leader. #ibelongtonorthernnigeria. |
People accuse the PDP of looting the treasury. at least when it came to sharing the national cake they recognized the need to follow the principle of Federal Character. the framers of the constitution understood the diversity of Nigerians, hence the establishment of the Federal Character Commission. if we can agree that there are looters in all the Geo-political zone, then there are competent people to be found in all the Geo-political zone. the excuse of appointing only a section of the country into administrative positions because you only trust them is baseless. that means you don't trust other section of country in rebuilding this project called 'nigeria'. Buhari should remember his statement of ''i belong to everybody and nobody'' it looks to me like " i belong to only Northern Nigeria" |
it's nothing new. all we need is competence. Fashola appointed Ben Akabueze from Anambra state as commissioner on budget and planning. he's appointment was not to appease Ndi'igbo but to accomodate thorough bred technocrat in his administration. Fahola knew Akabueze long before he became the Mayor of Lagos. Akabueze is one of the best accountants we have in these nation even Ngozi, Aret Adams and Akintola attest to his versatility and intelligence |
this guys are trying so hard to maintain the impression people have about him. even if it means to bribing the Guild of Editors in Nigeria just to secure that. what happened to non-partisan stance of the media, don't we still see the media as being the watchdog to government. if every editor is write only goods things about Buhari what happens to constructively critcism. what happened to the Freedom of Information Bill 2010 signed into law by GEJ. are we going to throw all that away just because we have a 'Holier than Thou person' at the helms of affair.? |
It has dawn on Buhari that promising 2 create 1million jobs can't come by mere 'Fear of Buhari' or ' Buhari's Integrity' but by strategic planning. He has 2 start patnering with those captains of industries he keeps demonizing and paintin them black. GEJ actively colloborated with theses captains such as: Dangote,Otedola,Ubah,Innocent,Emeka Offor ,Jim Ovia, Tony Elumelu and their likes in building a strong private sector led economy. People mistook GEJ's patnership with them 2 mean tolerance of corrupt people. Buhari should start organising summits just like GEJ did 2 rejig d economy. If everyone has noticed, the stocks last recorded gainS in d market when Buhari was sworn in. Since then it's beEn red all d way. |
i have noticed that the media derive joy in mocking Jonathan's administration with the hope of seeing him in prison. to those who dream of nothing more than to see Jonathan, Ngozi and Allison should wake up because that dream is never coming to fruition. APC being in opposition was able to hoodwink the people using the power of the media to make GEJ appear as an enemy who cares less about their lives; when GEJ intended to remove subsidy on PMS and deregulate the sector for active private sector participation(both local and foreign). they knew it was necessary if we were to free up this burgeoning industry from further stagnation. Now they are in power they are attempting to do what Jonathan intended to do since 2011 with hope of having the blessings of masses. go ahead! but they should also remember that the saying which goes: 'uneasy is the head that wears the crown'. As to the topic in discussion, the whole issues is just what i call 'Media Sensationalism'. they'r just trying to fuel the hate a section of the country already have for the last administration. my humble take |
let me enlighten those who care to know. i read comments of those praising Obsanjo for building the NIPP plants. no doubt Obj conceived the project in 2004/2005. it wasn't known as the Niger Delta Power Holding Company. it was just a contracting company that was given the initial funds to construct new power plants the power plants constructed where: omotosho 334 megawatts, papalanto 334 megawatts geregu 434 meagwatts and Afam 400 megawatts. note that these power were all taged 'phase 1" they were plans to construct the phase two of these plants before that National Assembly began to challenge Obj on the rationality of wasting funds by siting power plants where there are no known gas reserve. would power plants sited in states like Ogun and Kogi with no gas reserve run on water? that was the question that was raised. Obj rounded off and handed over to his successor, Yar'adua who suspended these projects due to the distortion and allegation of financial impropriety. it was GEJ who came in convinced the National Assembly as well as the state and local government on the need to continue this projects and begin the construction of the phase two of these power plants. Federal, State and Local government contributed a quota of their monthly allocation to Niger Delta Power Holding Company which realised eight ( billion dollars from the contribution. this enable them to embark on the building the phase two of these projects which included: omotosho 500 megawatts,(phase two), olorunshugo 775 megawatts (phase two), geregu 434 megawatts (phase two). in addition to that GEJ ordered that new transmission and distribution lines being built to accomodate this new quantum of power that will be generated from these plants. Gej in 2011 also began the construction of Alaoji power plant in Abia 1074 megawatts, calabar power plant 500 megawatts in cross river, Ivohbor power plant 500 megawatts in Edo, Ogorode 500 megawatts in Delta Gbarain225 megawatts in Bayelsa and Egbema 335 megawatts in Imo state. note that these are states are part of the NNDC with adequate gas reserves to power this new plants being built. Jonthan went to china to secure a loan from the chinese exim bank to construct a hydro power plant in Zungeru 700 megawatts in Niger state and secured 500million dollar eurobond to build gas pipelines that will connect the entire power plants being built. the contract was given to Oilserve Nigeria Limited, an indigenous company owned by my name sake Emeka Okwusa to do the job and the project will be completed in 2017. if you doubt me, browse: www. ndphc.com.ng for more info. those saying Jonathan is only commisioning Obj's projects are fools, Obj builts plants with no plan for gas collection, how will they fuel it, is it with water? no transmission lines to evacuate the power generated. it was GEJ who ensured all power that will come from these new plants(both the one constructed by Obj and Him) can get to the ingrates called masses. people are praising Buhari that hasn't inaugurated any new projects since he came to power. ![]() |
APC criticized the legality of GEJ's intention to remove the subsidy in order to allow for a free and deregulated market for increased private sector participation (both local and foreign investors). they used the media to paint him as an enemy of the people, who wanted to see them suffer. APC knew within themselves that removing it was necessary if we are to free this burgeoning industry. it's easy for Nigerians to criticize the NNPC management of corruption but no has given it a thought why NNPC is structurally deficient. the PIB law that was meant to solve the issue was stalled by the National Assembly due to greed. other oil producing countries like Angola and Ghana have passed their PIB laws which is opening their country up for further investment. whether Nigerians like it or not, what NNPC needs is not change at the helms of body; but a complete overhaul or restructuring of the entire laws that set up this ignoble corporation. only then can we have the NNPC of our dreams. my humle take ![]() |
this has nothing to do with good governance. during Gej's administration were enecouraged. i remember Olusegun Aganga commissioning a metering plant back then in Ogun. was it Memmcol or Momas i can't remember the company's name |
this is gibberish. 'one of Jonathan's aide.' sensationalism at its peak. if u can't state the source at least be kind enough to state the aide. let us know |
Fayose u Just took the words out of my mouth. this man has been busy shouting "stolen funds", " we'll presecute oil theives". i thought on assumption, he was gonna arrest all his enemies on the grounds of corruption. he forgot we live in a democratic where the principle of "Rule of Law' is applied to all (both the governors and the governed) ![]() |
asha80:i'll provide the link shortly |
had the state governors harkened to the advice of Madam Ngozi, we wouldn't be in this mess. it was only Obi the ex Gov. of Anambra state who listened and saved for the rainy day. that's why it's appears only Lagos, Anambra and a few other state are somewhat immune to this unending finanacial crisis. I'm particularly impressed with the Govt. of Anambra state. |
yeah that's right. controlled liberialism is the way to go. when GEJ said it was the organized private sector that engenders growth during an economic summit. he wasn't mincing words. i'm glad at least Buhari will follow in that path. |
it's the truth. it's d responsibility of the agency called Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) to review the salary of every civil and political officer working for the government. if there's a need to review the salary structure of the entire civil service, the agency only needs to send a communique to the presidency stating its intention to carry out d job. what Buhari and other state governors are doing is just a populist agenda which has no legal backing. we don't even know what they earn, tackles of cutting down their wages. SMH |
please all the tribal and etnic sentiments should stop. if the govt. intends to demolish the market it must also be ready to provide a new market place for them to carry on with their activities. Ambode should not mistreat these people just because they didn't vote for him, u'll only end up worsening the disunity among us |
bushdoc9919:this situation doesn't mean you are mentally enslaved. they look archaic. and that's the Goddamn truth. |
Oh God!! if it's an islamic state these guys are asking for please give it to them provided it's gonna bring peace. shey na by force everybody must live as one Nigeria. can't we have Nigeria and Northern Nigeria just like Ireland and Northern Ireland.i'm tired of living in the same geographic location with these psychopath. in the meantime, Buhari remove ur boiz frm Ekulobia b4 they infect those prison inmate with their syndrome. |
i have said time and again that the problem of NNPC lies not in its personnel but how it was structured to operate. GEJ could not implement the much needed reform in the industry because the PIB that was seen as the game changer that would revolutionize the industry was held up by the greedy seventh assembly. for Buhari to cleanse the sector of its sins it needs to ensure that the house passes that crucial bill, otherwise it will still look pouring new oil in a bad engine. as Diezani Allison said 'the problem is not having technocrats put there, that's easy; the problem lies in restructuring the entire operation of the state company.' |
the president should ensure that PIB which has been rotting in national assembly of karate is passed. that's the solution to the this sector. the PIB ensures that sector is deregulated completely which allows for private sector participation. dissolving the board only to reappoint another team of your choosing will not cleanse the NNPC of sins. The issue is fundamental and requires the complete overhaul of the law that set up the state energy company. people blamed GEJ for being allegedly ineffective with dealing with corruption in the NNPC but they failed to realised that GEJ could not implement any reform unless the law that set up the company was repealed. whether we like or not. Diezani Allison was right when she said that problem has never being the personnels or board members but with the way the energy company was structured. that is what exactly breeds corruption not the board members . |
simseg01:From the look of things PDP appears to be right in condemning the commotion that took place. but what comes to mind is the alleged question of Buhari's democratic credentials. i'm sure of GEJ will be bursting with laughter in Otueke. personally i think buhari should reign in on the matter and douse the tense situation in APC cacuses. Metuh may be rite. does buhari possess the democratic credential to lead a democratic Nigeria. that's a million dollar question. peace |
lol. God i love ur comment. rather than spend the money on building nuclear power plant. why not use it as fund to build captive power projects using either gas in the south or solar or wind in the north like how fashola did it in Lagos DeLaRue: |
As the embedded power scheme gains ground among power investors in Nigeria, PIPP LVI Genco Limited is proposing to build about 200 megawatts (mw) of electricity plant that would be scattered around the city of Lagos and beyond. The company, which has already built a $25 million power plant at Lekki in Lagos which is currently servicing some Lagos State public utilities, is also set to put another 16mw in ILupeju and 6mw for Surulere. Faruk Agoro, managing director/CEO of the company in his interaction with BusinessDay, said the company was currently developing other projects at Ilupeju, Mushin and Oshodi, Surulere and Orile, adding that these were areas the company could easily take opportunity for now, with priority being given to Ilupeju and Surulere. The company is looking at investing between $10 million – $15 million in Ilupeju plant, while that of Surulere would cost less than Ilupeju. He however explained that such public private partnership (PPP) would be in different forms. According to him, the plant in Ilupeju would be for the industrial areas while the one in Surelere may be with Lagos State government, but also hopefully that some industrial concerns there may key into the project. “In ILupeju we would site 16 megawatts plant and 6 megawatts plant for Surulere. There are more industrial concerns in Ilupeju than in Surulere. Like I said, the idea is to keep replicating the project whether it is five megawatts here or 10 megawatts in another place by the time you put all these to- gether in about five or 10 years it would add up to 200 megawatts. He said having the participation of the Lagos State government could be an added advantage because the government has so much facilities that the company’s plants can actually support. He said anywhere the company sited its plants it would make as much efforts as possible to tap into public infrastructure that are there, because it is known that power is the problem. The PIPP LVI Genco boss said the most important thing is for the plant to be sited close to where there is gas pipeline because the problem of transporting compressed natural Gas (CNG) to locations where the plant are sited from gas stations is a bit of challenge. On its expansion programme outside Lagos, he said they are looking at Oyo, Ogun, Edo states. “In Ondo State we started discussion last year but they did not come back. But Ogun State is looking more positive. Abeokuta and Ibadan are the possible places we are looking at”, he said. Speaking further on the Lekki power plant investment in terms of how much the company actually spent, he said that a plant like that cannot take the investment in isolation. The plant, he explained, was actually the cheapest of those things that are involved in the whole project, adding that the distribution network and all the street lights are about 25 kilometres network which stretched to Lekki phase one to Ikoyi, Bourdillion, Victoria island ,Saka Tinubu and Oniru. |
this doesn't change anything. any head of state within the AU can chair the meeting if appointed by the board of leadership of the union. how does that add value 2 Nigeria |
In continuation of funds disbursement to the beneficiaries of the N 213 Billion Nigeria Electricity Market Stabilization Facility (NEMSF), as part of its effort to boost power supply in the country, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), on Friday, June 12, 2015, disbursed a total of N6.9 billion to gas suppliers; representing legacy debts owed them by power distribution companies (DISCOs). Welcoming beneficiaries to the ceremony held at the Bank’s Head office in Abuja, the CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, CON, disclosed that the payments made by the Bank represented debts by the power sector in proportion to the obligations to repay the facility by five DISCOs that have so far signed up to the facility. The DISCOs involved are Eko, Ibadan, Kano, Port Harcourt and Enugu. Describing the disbursement to the gas suppliers as a milestone that had to be achieved, Emefiele said the move was an important step in revitalizing Nigeria’s energy sector. According to him, what the CBN, in partnership with the banking sector, had done was to ensure the commercial viability of gas. He said this was particularly so given that the gas sector had little incentive to make the necessary investments in gas exploration and infrastructure to keep up with the growth in power generation. Continuing, the CBN Governor recalled that the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), in August 2014, approved a commercially viable benchmark price of $2.50/mcf (one thousand cubic feet) for gas supply, and 80 cents/mcf as transportation costs for new capacity, in order to encourage existing and prospective gas suppliers ramp up their investments. While appreciating the gas suppliers, Mr. Emefiele urged them to endeavor to complete the process of activating formal, binding agreements for gas volumes to power sector companies as well as deliver more of their existing gas output to existing power plant. The governor further encouraged them to make necessary investments to ensure that gas keeps pace with the development of new gas-fired power plants and the expansion of existing plants. Emphasizing that the CBN ordinarily had no business in the power chain, he disclosed that the Bank and the banking sector had to intervene owing to the shortfall shortfalls in power sector revenues caused by needed adjustments in the electricity tariff and legacy gas debts. He therefore admonished the gas suppliers to see the move by the banking sector as a clear sign of the Federal Government’s commitment to change the course of both the domestic gas sector and the power sector. “Nigerians need power; let us cooperate and do our bit to ensure that Nigerians have power,” he urged the suppliers. In his remarks, the representative of the Chairman, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), and Commissioner in charge of Market Competitions and Rates at the Commission, Mr. Patrick Umeh, commended the CBN and the Ministries of Power and Petroleum for the collaboration to improve the power sector. Highpoint of the event was the presentation of symbolic cheques to the beneficiaries for sums ranging from N230 million to N2.04 billion. Speaking on behalf of the gas suppliers, Supo Sadia of the NNPC/Chevron Joint Venture expressed gratitude to the Federal Government, the CBN and the Banking sector as well as the Ministries of Petroleum and Power and the regulators for the payment made. He expressed the commitment and desire of the gas suppliers to partner with the Government in ensuring adequate power supply in the country. Also present at the event was the Deputy Governor (Economic Policy), Dr. (Mrs.) Sarah Alade, some Departmental Directors, and Advisers. |
Dangote has always seen an opportunity in d gas to power business.the company I work for is doing a similar project in Aba. Oando is building a compressed natural gas plant in order 2 truck gas to existing and new industrial estate in aba and PH 4 captive power generation. If Dangote completes d project, it will open areas for industrial development in Lekki. I've noticed some people making negative tribal comment which it'snt proper. They must understand not only Lagos will benefit but Naij as a whole. A prosperous lagos could only mean a better Nigeria. Jah bless. |
