Danteeee:My brother I support you 100%. I can't stand men that abuse their wives. If it's my daughter that is being so badly abused, I would go to the house to pack her loads. Anyway, I train my daughter not to tolerate any abuse from anybody. |
TEYA:Don't mind them. If paraventure Nigeria splits tomorrow and all igbos are asked to go back to Biafra, most of the alaba, ladi ladipo, ASPANDA, etc traders making a living in Lagos and shops all over Nigeria will be looking for ways to stay behind and become illegal immigrants. Many igbos born and bred in the west and even northern nigeria will refuse to relocate. |
oyatz:My brother, some people sit in their homes or their parents home and give advice on issues they have no idea of. Anyone that has experienced the trauma of working with locals (and this applies to everywhere in Nigeria ) would not blame people that import workers to do their civil works. Some even prefer to pay the locals for doing nothing than hire them. |
mynaijaforumcom:No. I am saying that heads of ministries and parastatals in Nigeria don't factor in integrity when awarding contracts. They award contracts based on selfish interests, nepotism and tribalism. This apply to parastatals headed by all tribes and regions in Nigeria. If a Yoruba heads a parastatal most appointments into that parastatal would be from the Yoruba tribe and most contract would be awarded to Yoruba contractors. Ditto for igbos and Hausa Fulanis. It is we minorities that is a bit more liberal in political appointments. |
myobjective:reasons why people from the region of Tetfund chairman will get most of the job.
This is not an integrity contest, you have your own experiences in the construction industry, I have mine. You ended up agreeing with what I said, where your are mistaken is where you said these days. Nepotism and contract selling did not start these days, it had always been like that. Ministries and parastatals headed by northerners would award contracts mainly to northerners, those headed by easterners would award contracts to cronies, friends and families. That's why appointments into political offices are such a big issue in Nigeria. People lobby for their tribes men to get political appointments. Some of these cronies simply sell the contract papers to anyone willing to pay (who most of the time are unqualified). People have been selling contract papers at Abuja from time immemorial. I had a friend that got burnt buying DESOPADEC contract. He lost all his life savings buying a N50 million contract for 10% of the contract sum. I know have a company-owned by a man with no engineering or construction background and they 're currently working on more than 20 projects across the federation, most of their engineers are bearly qualified, are you going to tell me that his the best qualified for the job? This is very common at state, local and federal levels. The main road in Odogunyan was awarded to a political with no civil engineering experience. The road did not last 2 rainy seasons. L |
myobjective:Your argument is neither here or there, as long as the companies pass through the tender process and the company is competent, then I don't care whomsoever they award the contract to. I will only have issues if the contract is awarded and paid for but not carried out or according to specifications. Besides, locals don't have a good track record of completing projects. There are hundreds of projects awarded to locals all over the Niger delta by NDDC. The locals abandon the projects after collecting Mobilization fees. Many roads in the East and even west are awarded to powerful locals, they simply vanish after collecting mobilisation fees. |
mynaijaforumcom:It is. When I was doing a project in ogwashi uku, I brought all my labourers from Lagos. My bricklayers were mainly Yorubas, so are my carpenters. My tilers were igbos, as well as my POP guys. The plumber was a local introduced by my client though and he did a terrible job. I had to change most of the fittings as they were fakes. When doing a project, it is best to employ people you are familiar with, that you know their competencies. Hiring new untested hands can be risky, and besides locals are usually troublesome and lazy due to entitlement mentality. Those you import from outside has no other distractions than the job at hand, so they work harder and faster. In addition : Oil is being drilled in my community right now by NPDF and due to community squabbles, most of the workers employed to work in the rigs are Igbo. Boys dey vex say igbos came from East to collect jobs in warri. Me, I no send, because most of my brothers and cousins are not ready to work. |
lilioj:I concur 100%. When next he comes to your house when your husband is not around, do not open the door. If he refuses to leave, have him stay outside and wait for your husband to arrive before you allow him in. Having your ex and you alone in your house is awkward. Even if your husband insist you open the door for him still refuse. Tell him that as a Christian, it's not proper to be alone with man that's not a family relation in your house. Have him wait outside. If your husband causes trouble because of it, then involve a third party - a pastor or a family member. Let him come and explain why your ex, who has now become his friend is more important than you. |
SifonAbasi:I just read you stories - both threads, and I was impressed you and your husband handled a very delicate issue. My grouse now is the current attitude or should say scheme of your husband. He is testing you to see if you would fall. He is going to extremes to court a relationship with your ex, and then arranging scenarios where you are alone with him. I am certain he has cameras hidden at home to catch you guys if you have sex with him. Sorry you say, but you are in a catch 22 situation. If you tell him to stop your ex from coming to your house, especially when he is not around, he will say you are uncomfortable with your ex around because you still have feelings for him. If you get to cosy with your ex, he will still accuse you of still being in love with him. You need to talk to him and make him realise that it's not appropriate for him to be friends with your ex and inviting a man into your matrimonial home when your are alone (ex or not), is inappropriate. Any business he wants to do with him can be done at the office. If he does not change, you may have to report the matter to someone he respects and listen to. |
OgbanjeProphet:Those misguided fanatics that burnt US flag would never apply for a US visa not to talk of thinking of immigrating to the US. The visa ban would most affect southern Nigerians wishing to immigrate to the US. |
saaron:Oboy see hatred. Anyway there is no love lost between Buhari and south easterners. It started even before he won his first term. You guys can exaggerate for Africa, even the whole world. Nigeria has had sharia and human rights abuse issues even before Buhari dreamt of being president. It was because of human rights abuse during the Jonathan regime that the US and it's allies refused to sell any arms to Nigeria. There is no blanket visa ban, what was banned was immigrant visa. Nigeria was removed from the DV lottery program during the regime of Jonathan. The reason the US gave for the visa ban was not because of terrorism or sharia. The reason given was that the Nigerian government does not share information, especially criminal records about its citizens applying for immigrant visa. This is the reason for all the countries in this visa ban. At least you should be aware that other countries affected by the ban like Eritrea, Sudan, Tanzania and Kyrgyzstan don't have sharia or terrorist issues. Believe me the ban would not affect Buhari or children of the elite, most already have US citizenship or other from other western nations with easy access to the US. It's the average struggling nigerians looking for a better life in the US that would be affected. |
Rosskiye:You nail the issue, point blank. Trump is only appealing to his base, who hate the bloody Africans coming to the US and doing better than them. Trump will take more drastic measures to appeal to his base to have any chance of winning the elections (on electoral college ). He needs to rally his based to come out and vote to counter the numbers of the Democrats and independents. I am sure Trump can't point to Nigeria on the map not to talk of Biafra. After winning the 2016 election, and was getting congratulatory messages from many world leaders, Trump confessed that he never knew there were so many countries. Read this to understand Trump has a very poor knowledge of geography - https://www.google.com/amp/s/thinkprogress.org/trump-didnt-know-bhutan-nepal-countries-55775373b574/amp/ |
Cherez:It's good to hear that kanu has realised his mistakes of insulting everyone who don't agree with him or his mission. Yorubas, Hausa Fulanis, other Niger delta tribes, and even other igbo elders had been insulted by kanu. I want him to also instruct his foot soldiers on social media to stop insulting others as a strategy of achieving their aims also. The US has not been known to support any secession group. In fact the US has been known to support the parent country against secessionist groups. Trump is even worse at supporting secessionist groups. Ordinary taking a call from Taiwan president caused Chinese anger, and Trump had to withdraw recognition of Taiwan. Other groups looking for support from Trump are the Kurds, the Catalans, the Rohingya, the Palestinians, etc. Trump love supporting those in a position of strength. He hates associating with anything or anybody he perceives as being weak or in a weak position. |
selemempe:Very |
selemempe:I am from warri of the Niger delta, I will only hate the map if you include warri. |

Very unrealistic map. You guys draw a map incorporating other peoples lands without their consent. You even went ahead to locate the capital at the heart of alaigbo. These map will be a disaster waiting to happen. Most of the oil is situated outside alaigbo, but will be used to develop a capital at Enugu. You think the ijaws, the calabaris and other tribes of the lower Niger Delta would accept a country with predominantly igbo population controlling their oil resources. What makes this situation different from the present situation of Nigeria? |
Heromaniaa:All of them will reverse their decampment. |
gidgiddy:Standing inches from Trump means nothing. Anyone who is interested can attend Trump rallies. Anyone who is interested in attending can do so after passing through security checks. The rallies are Organized by his campaign organization and they invite and seat people according to optics on TV. Kanu (who obviously presented himself as a British citizen) was the only blackman seen close to Trump at this rally. Most Americans would not even know he is not an American citizen, the optics looked good. |
jayfolarin:The self hatred being exhibited by our brothers from the east is uncanny. They are happy for the whole country to be nuked out of existence, including themselves, their families and their homeland because of their hatred for buhari. US hostile policy towards Nigeria did not start from Buhari. The Ban on Nigerians participating in the DV lottery program has been in place for over 5 years. US embassy had unofficially placed a ban on Nigerians travelling to US for years, as most Nigerians applying for visa were rejected for no just reason.Trump just made it official. What's exactly is Nigeria gaining from the US? The last military cooperation was during the time of Obasanjo. The Military cooperation became suspicious, when they pushed for the formation of AFRICON and a base in the Gulf of Guinea. They also wanted information on Nigeria's military formation which Obasanjo refused. Trump had never hid his personal disdain for Nigeria and Nigerians. If he had his way, he would deport all Nigerians back home. |
Zooposki:Yes, I think Trump is as clueless as Buhari. I am 100% sure Trump has no idea who Ndubuisi Kanu or what Biafra is. |
gidgiddy:This topic had been trashed again and again, but you guys just can't see things that contradict your hard beliefs. Terrorists are labeled by respective countries. A terrorist in one country might not be labelled terrorist in another country. In fact no single organisation is labelled terrorist by all countries of the world. The Gulen movement is labelled terrorist by Turkey, but not by the US and European countries. Their leader Muhammed Fethullah Gülen still resides in the US till today, and Erdogan has been fighting for his extradition ANC was considered a terrorist organisation by the Apartheid South African Government and it's allies, but not by all other African nations. According to Nigeria IPOB remains a terrorist organisation. |
Snipper007:What's the meaning of Kanu attending a Trump rally? Is he an American voter? Will attending Trump rallies bring about Biafra? During elections US politicians go to meet ordinary voters on the streets to canvass for votes, it does not mean anything. I can show you a picture of my aunt speaking with Boris Johnson before the last UK elections. I can bet that Trump does not have a clue who kanu is. |
Smithkafors:OK I now understand, their "chi" God is Nnamdi Kanu. |
The how do you explain these pictures? Either the people kneeling down for kanu are not igbos or they were not actually kneeling.
|
femmy2010:That's because it people that make and run the system and not the system making the people. A bad system with good people will produce good results, and good system with bad people will still produce bad results. |
pacespot:Yes it can have serious consequences for human population, but the human race will survive it. We have survived worse. Viruses burn themselves out or people will gradually develop immunity to it. It's devastating now, because it new to the human body. Once the body becomes used to it, it will elicit an appropriate defence. That's how evolutionary biology works. The bubonic plague wiped out one third the population of Europe, but in a few decades, it burnt itself out and people developed resistance. |
MondayOsunbor:That's exactly what crossed my mind. What's will happen if supreme Court reverses itself tomorrow and rule that Ihedioha was actually won the governorship election? These lawmakers will defect back? There is something fundamentally wrong with our democracy, especially at the state and local government levels. |
Agboriotejoye:What's the difference between Atiku and Buhari in terms of civil service career? |
DaBullIT:Don't let our brothers from the east hear you, they would come for your head. To them President jonathan was the best president the world had ever seen. Only second to Donald Trump. |
TechCapon:It's shocking. N5.9 billon not million o. Just for aluminium water tanks, pumping machines and generation. Most likely the staff quarters and land was included in the project. But then, how many staff do you need to run a bore hole? Niger delta and white elephant projects are like fire and smoke. |
jamesope04:You don't seem to understand that rice is used by Asian countries as an economic weapon. You are encouraged to spend a significant portion of your foreign exchange and foreign reserve on rice, which they happily dump on you. We cannot afford to spend so much foreign exchange on a consumable food like rice to the detriment of serious infrastructural projects like power, roads and medicines. Africa has to learn to be self sufficient in production. In war situation, we can be defeated simply by stoppage of food supplies and we will starve. |
Quaddafi29:Quit shoving your morality into other people's ass. Gayism (LGBT) has been reported to affect between 3 to 5% of the population. I also do not like or want anything to do with Bobrisky, but it's his/her life. All his boys and girls cannot be gays, it's an impossibility as more that 95% are LGBT. Strict gays are even less and usually account for less than 1% of the general population. |
