Igbo and Yoruba Christians are more than ready to work in Hisbah Police. |
Hillsong34:Yes Nigeria is guided by the constitution, and that constitution only permit the Fulani north to create a security outfit, but bar others from creating their own security outfit, abi? The hisbah Police don't go arresting other tribes and religions enjoying a cool bottle of beer in their private spaces, abi? Yoruba people kill hundreds of cows, but fulani herdsmen killing thousands of humans along side destroying their farms. To hell with the Yoruba presidency? Yorubas has never gotten a truly Yoruba president (Obasanjo was never a Yoruba candidate), and they survived. It's the Fulanis that need the presidency to survive. How is Amotekun tribal and divisive but Hisbah is national and unifying? Abeg, explain. |
Yusman316:I honestly don't understand people's grouse with Tanko, when the decision was an unanimous decision of seven (7) supreme Court justices. So all the other supreme Court justices are exonerated? |
JAWBONE:I agree with you pertaining to INEC, but it's more has to do with the character of Nigerians and politicians itself, as long as people are desperate to cheat to get into office, the acronym of the electoral body matters very little, whether FEDECO, NEC, INEC or NECON. As per Chief Justice Tanko Mohammed, the chief justice have very little influence on judgements. At best he can only preside over cases brought to the supreme Court. Judgements are based on majority votes by 7 or more supreme Court justices. So it is unreasonable to blame one supreme Court justice for judgements of 7 supreme Court justices. |
Haddock:If the government or the military wanted to kill Americans, you mean they cannot call for the planes manifest? Besides 19 other flights took off and landed around the time of the attack on US base in Iraq, why we're any of them not shut down? |
Staro:Although this is the very first time, I am supporting a stance by kanu, his running away was cowardly. Fela did not run away when Buhari was after him, tunde Idiagbon did not run away from IBB after his overthrow. He came from Saudi Arabia and be locked up, even after the Saudis offered him asylum. Most genuine freedom fighters fighting against despotic regimes either die fighting or remain locked up for a long time. Even the present leader of Myanmar was locked up for over a decade |
GreetMe:They did not deliberately shoot down the plane. What's the political value of shooting down an Ukrainian airline plane conveying mostly Canadians and Iranians? It was error due to sheer incompetence. They should have shut down the airspace during the missile attack on the US base in Iraq, since their radar system cannot differentiate a plane from an incoming missile. The plane was heading back to the airport after taking off, probably due to some technical problem (there is a military base close to the airport). The military mistook the plane for an incoming missile and shot it down. |
YelloweWest:The law put the onus on proving electoral petitions on the petitioners, so how will the petitioners be able to prove their case without documents certified by relevant authorities? Each polling units has their forms. Same for wards, local and state collation centres. These forms are signed and given to all party agents. These forms can be presented as evidence in court if the final results given by INEC differs from the results at the polling units, wards or local government and state collation centres. Buhari never presented results, so also Atiku did not present results from the polling units up to the state level. He relied on the INEC server, which was disowned by INEC. The court was forced to rely on physical results presented by INEC. |
goshee:BSS was set up by who? Did kanu have any authority or license to set up a security company before you even start talking of a public security service? The governors have authority as chief security officers of the state (in name only though ). Many people including the FG do consider IPOB an armless group. Kanu had openly solicited for arms to fight against Nigeria. He had open your threatened Yorubas and hausas, security officers, the president and even other igbo leaders who disagree with their objectives. They openly and violently attacked Ekwerenmadu in Germany and threatened to attack others if they ventured outside Nigeria. |
NaMeAboki:The security architecture as presently constituted cannot work. The Nigerian Police Force was a colonial hang over with the sole purpose of protecting the colonial administrators from sometimes hostile natives. They owe their allegiance to the colonial government. The Nigerian Police force main pre occupation is to protect the government in power and their conniving elite. There are murders on the streets everyday without the police caring to carry out investigations and finding the murders. If one government official or a big man is killed, the police will Fish fish out the culprits under 48 hours. A federal police cannot be expected to enforce local or customary laws, it just doesn't make sense. This is one of the reasons the police are useless during prosecutions and are often disgraced in court. You expect a police man from Enugu to learn the state and customary laws of in ogbomosho, to be able to successfully prosecute a case in ogbomosho. A state house of assembly makes laws, a state high Court interprete the laws, but you expect a federal police to enforce the laws. Does that make sense? Not that I exactly oppose hisbah Police or Amotekun or even Biafra secrete service (that is if the chief executives of the south east states decides to name their Police as such), my grouse is in the laws governing their creation and operation. They should operate within the confines of the constitution and not try an impose laws that limits freedom guaranteed by the constitution. |
NaMeAboki:I did A/Levels in sokoto and not NYSC. How can you say fundamental rights of non muslims have not changed, when your hishah police go arresting non muslims in their homes and hotels for drinking beer and intimate relations with women? You are telling me that if I am an animist that uses gin as part of my prayer, I cannot come to sokoto. About Arabic letters on currency notes. Yes a few Christians complain, but most don't just care. As long as there are English letters and numerals (Arabic), that I can understand, they can as well add Chinese. I don't care. Herdsmen killing both muslims and Christians should be everybody's concern. If the hisbah Police was to protect both Christian and muslims from fulani herdsmen's attacks, believe me I would not have any issues, but imposing muslims laws and morals on non muslims is wrong. The herdsmen menace has been a major problem in Nigeria. It started from the north, decimated the middle belt and is not threatening the peace and security of the East and west. Should we not sit together and resolve the Fulani herdsmen issue once and for all? I would have expected Buhari being a fulani himselves to tackle the issue, but instead he has been aloof. |
Cherez:Sorry to say, but you don't know how international politics and diplomacy works. You said, "Iran has never ran any terror program on US soil"?I reiterate again Iran has never ran any terror program on US soil , and no Iranian has ever planned or carried out a terror attack on US soil. Why was the attack on Suleimani?Only Trump and Pompeo seem to know. They have not been able to explain to the American people the real reason Soleimani was assassinated. Even his republican members of Congress were angry at the briefings Trump's people gave. Iran partners and funds terrorist coys.Agreed. But the coys are terrorists to the US and israel, but not to most countries of the world. The Europeans, Russia, china, etc do not view Iran as terrorist. There is no way the US will detain all Iranians on its soilThese were Iranians coming in through the ports, so these are the ones the authorities could easily identify. If a war actually breaks out, the government would hunt for Iranians and detain them for the duration of the war. This was what happened to Japanese and Japanese Americans and Germans in America during WW2. |
DexterousOne:I am getting tired of educating people who have learning difficulties. UK or any other country can expelled foreigners from their country. UK can decide to expel all EU citizens if a Brexit deal is not reached. What will discourage UK from taking such action is the reciprocal action by EU, who will in turn expel all UK citizens from the EU. Brussels uneasy over EU citizens’ rights after BrexitIt is not by force to allow you into my house. |
hardbody:Igbos never quested or requested for self determination, what we have is one set of youths screaming referendum or death up and down. It like saying Yorubas requested for self determination because Adeyinka's grandson is shouting Oduduwa Republic up and down. |
Cherez:Did you read the report or you just like arguing just for the sake of argument. Where was it written that any of the Iranian citizens detained were suspected terrorist? Have you heart of any Iranian planning or carrying out a terrorist attack on US or European soil? There is no international law that can regulate foreigners in another country. It the countries themselves that make the laws that governs the rights of foreigners. Nigerians asked Ghanaians to leave in the early 80s and nothing happened. Idiamin asked Lebanese and other foreigners to leave Uganda in the 70s, nothing happened. |
MelesZenawi: Nearly 200 Iranian Americans were detained at the US-Canada border |
Cherez:But Americans & Britons can ask anyone to leave. If not for the courts (American law), I am sure Trump is ready to ask all Iranians to leave the US. Many of them were detained last week during the US - Iran showdown. Citizens of countries have free access to countries it's government has cordial relationship with. Biafra is very unlikely to have cordial relationship with Nigeria, sorry the zoo. |
NaMeAboki:Well i did not see your post where you said anything against hisbah. I have known you to be defending hisbah with vigour since I noticed you. I am glad you are educated, so we can debate on an intellectual level instead of emotional level, without the use of threats, intimidation and innuendos. My problem with you is that you are sometimes dishonest. You view issues from your narrow perspective and not care about how issues affect others. I call that entitlement mentality. Don't misunderstand me. I supported Buhari 100%, I did two years schooling in sokoto in the late 80s and fell in love with sokoto and northerners. When I was in sokoto, I did not feel threatened, I drank beer when I wanted to (but in a private bar or private space), I worshiped in a church when I felt like (all the churches were on Ahmadu bello road ), although I hate pork, no one threatened me from eating it. In fact when I was leaving one of my fulani friend offered to give me a goat as a parting gift. That was love. Today, the story is different, I would not go back to sokoto for a million dollars. There is so much religious intolerance. You guys now want to impose your beliefs and lifestyle on others. Now, what seperated an hisbah Police from amotekun? Are you saying if I steal or commit murder, hisbah Police will not arresting me? They may not have the powers to prosecute me, but they will effect the arrest, using violence if need be. They arrest people selling and drinking beer, they arrest men and women in hotel rooms. You are aware that there is a huge security challenge in the southwest and the south as a whole. Farmers are having difficulty earning their livelihood, due to cattle grazing and attacked by fulani herdsmen, and these have been going on for decades with increasing intensity. The federal government has either been complicit, incompetence or non challant, what do you expect the governors or the people to do? |
Gbemishile1:So what sayest thou of Kano State Hisbah Corps which had been in operation since 2003 and Civilian JTF? |
NaMeAboki:Na wa o. You are so inconsistent. You arguing everyday for the support of Sharia law, hisbah Police and civilian JTF in the north , but now arguing against Amotekun in the south. People have been asking your northerners to differentiate between hisbah, JTF and Amotekun and you keep mute. I think the southerners are finally waking up from the injustices we have been suffering from people who feels they own the country. Do your sharia up north and my people will stay away from the north. We will do our Amotekun and herdsmen should stay away from the south. |
magicminister:This issue might be a blessing in disguise. It may help unite the igbos and the Yorubas against the entitlement mentality of the Fulanis. |
DMerciful:This is besides the point. You asked why the supreme court did not punish anyone, I told you that no one was brought before the supreme Court for punishment. A case has to come to the supreme Court all the way from the high courts before they can make judgements. Besides, it's the lower courts that punishes, the supreme Court either ratifies or dismiss. |
DMerciful:Anyone was not brought before the supreme Court for punishment. |
seunmsg:You raised a valid point. We should be looking at how and why INEC cancelled over 200,000 valid votes and still declared a candidate winner. In saner climes, the state INEC chairman and possibly the national chairman should resigned or be fired (and possibly prosecuted ). |
OYAY:Our igbo brothers trade in emotions. They think they can win or get what they want by stirring emotions. Most of them did not even bother to read the reason for the judgement, they just start screaming; Fulani herdsmen, sharia judges and Buhari. You wonder what concerns these with the judgement? This is the crux of the judgement; “Vote due to the appellant Senator Hope Uzodinma and the APC from 388 Polling Units were wrongly excluded from scores ascribed to the appellant(to them). The lower courts had rejected the evidence presented by hope Uzodinma because the evidence did not originate from the witnesses presenting the evidence. The panel led by Justice Malami Dongondaji had in the judgment dismissed Messrs Ararume, Nwosu and Uzodinma’s petitions for lacking in merit on the grounds that they failed to prove the allegations made in their petitions. This to me is a stupid argument. So the learned justices were saying that documents originating from INEC or the police, but presented by agents and lawyers of the petitioner cannot be admitted, because they did not write the documents themselves. Mind you, they did not alleged the documents were forged. |
YelloweWest:It was only hope that was able to present evidence that he got 236,000 votes from 318 polling units. JonDon12:The onus lies on Ihedioha to present evidence that he got votes from the 236,000 polling units. You cannot expect hope uzodinma or the supreme Court justices to do that for him. The problem was the admissibility of the evidence uzodinma presented. The lower courts dismissed the evidence, while the supreme Court admitted it. One the evidence was admitted, ihedioha has lost. |
BecaciaBarbie:A very good friend is always proud that he had sèx with his wife the very day he met her. Their marriage is over 20 years. Does that mean God did not ordain the ordain the marriage. Different strokes for different folks. What works for you might not work for others. |
calabardick:No o. She married a banker. The old guy forgot the small engagement As soon as she aborted the baby. But was still preaching love. The whole family went against the guy and insisted the lady to dumb his sorry ass. Just before she was commissioned, he went to her base crying and almost rolling on the floor, begging to continue the relationship. What is annoying is not the fact that he was struggling, but he was not serious. Why will you have a relationship for over 6 years and not think of proposing engagement until she becomes pregnant. OK, After engagement, then what? |
Olalan:The spouse family seem irresponsible but was able to send their daughter to nursing school? You think nursing schools and nursing exams comes cheap? But to you, the family of a guy that would agree to a small engagement , not marriage and then have a baby out of wedlock is responsible. The guy was asking for engagement, not marriage. The girl is right to demand a proper marriage after 4 years of free knacking. So when will he be ready for marriage. I have had a cousin in similar situation. She got pregnant during her NYSC, and the guy insisted on having the baby. They brought drinks and kola to my uncle's house. When we asked them when they will be ready for the marriage proper, they said we should not worry, that they would come soon. That was 11 years ago. Till today, we have not seen their brake lights. They sent money for the child upkeep for the first 5 years. Today, it's our family that pays school fees and upkeep for the boy. The grandmother that is following her grandchild has seen, heard and experienced far more than the so called moralists. She wants the best for her grandchildren. |
chewwie:her silly grand mother did not get her pregnant, but when the baby is born, who will buy pampers, baby formula, medicals, etc for the baby? Who will bear the medical expenses of the birth, especially if there are complications or requires C/S? It's still the girls parents (and maybe with assistant from the grandparents ) that house her, feed her, pay her school fees, etc. If the girl and the guy are totally independent, and would not constitute a burden on her family, then the silly grand mother and her parents will have no business whatsoever on whether to have a baby or not. What do you mean "She should carry the pregnancy to term and leave the baby with you and move on with her life"? Leave the baby with the guy? |
cooltola:This is a matter of opinion. Many people do not see a fertilised egg or zygote as a child. To the law, a fetus does not become a person until it is capable of independent existence. A woman cannot be forced to carry, birth and care for a baby she does not want. A child should not be a punishment for moral sins of a woman. All the argument against abortion are based on religious and moral grounds. The law does not recognise a fetus as a legal entity, so killing an unborn child is legal jargon. Medical science is still divided on when a fetus becomes conscious and can be recognised as a person. Even the children who are begging or suffering are hoping for a tomorrow. The better solution is to enforce a family planning by promoting the uses of condoms or anything to prevent the fertilization of human eggs if both parties are not ready to parent. Why should an unborn child pay the penalty of death because his or her parents were busy enjoying themselves irresponsibly? The northerner leaders should address the uncontrolled population growth, try to provide jobs and abortion is not the answer. This is the thinking of third world mindset. The hope for a better tomorrow does not justify the millions of unwanted children roaming the streets, constituting a menace to society, ie boko haram, agberos, cultists, etc. Having millions of uneducated and unwanted children is the chief ingredient for societal anarchy. |
No too surprised, they are both gentleman. Men don't keep grudges forever. I would be more surprised to see Amaechi sitting down and shaking hands with mama peace. |
