My argument is that if it was the well equipped Quds Force led by Soleimani that attacked the US embassy, they would not be using fire bombs and heavy logs to try and breach the walls and doors. They have powerful missiles and sophisticated guns.

I have been waiting for the videos showing Soleimani's men attacking the US embassy in Baghdad. I hope you will not show the video of a small number of protesters protesting (sometimes violently) in a small corner of the US embassy and writing "we are Soleimani's supporters" on a wall.
The embassy is on 100 acres - the size of Vatican City. The embassy was not attacked with heavy weaponry, like the type of missiles used to attack Saudi oil refinery a few weeks back.

It will come at tremendous costs in terms of casualties and costs. The US can't take high casualties.

Both Ruhollah Khomeini and Donald Trump need a war or at least an escalation of conflict to preserve their regimes. Trump is facing a removal as a result of impeachment and falling popularity by independents and Democrats. His republican support base is never beyond 45% in polls.
Ruhollah Khomeini is facing backlash at home because of biting economic problems as a result of sanctions by Trump. He also needs a war to divert attentions.

A limited conflict would benefit both Trump and Khomeini.
Trump killed the a very important Iranian official on Iraqi soil without informing congress. Iraq (a US ally) would also see the this as an aggression. The situation could escalate very quickly and drag the US into another war. This time the US will be going into a war with Iran without its traditional allies.
