usoroh4luv:Yes, but not churches that would get you addicted to another type of gamble - tithes and offering for prosperity and riches. |
gidgiddy:ARTCLE 1 OF UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS ; All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood. ARTCLE 20 OF UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS ; (1) Everyone has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association. (2) No one may be compelled to belong to an association. https://www.un.org/en/universal-declaration-human-rights/ Please explain how you guys interprete these to articles to mean, it allows or encourages for secession of groups from member states. The Aburi Accord created 4 different militaries and 4 different civil services. That's a recipe for disaster. Ojukwu would not have been subject to the control or command of Gowon, which was was what he quarreled with in the first place. Please read the articles of the Aburi Accord. No matter how many times you guys tell the lie that it was Gowon that destroyed the reason, it can never become the truth. Decree 34 of 1966 called the unification decree destroyed the regions and substitute them for states. Nigeria moved from 4 Regions to 4 states, and Gowon moved from it from 4 states to 12 states. |
XANDERBOY85:Even though he declared Atiku guilty-by-association for picking a ‘nyamuree/okoro, didn't the association yield over 40% of votes in South West and a substantial number of votes in the north? I would have even speculated that the association won the elections if not for wuru wuru by inec. This was an association that was created by Obasanjo - a Yoruba man. If Obi identities with secession (which is his right), he has no business contesting for Vice President. Another issue is since kanu based his struggle on hatred of Hausa Fulanis and Yorubas, it would be unreasonable to expect the Yorubas and Hausa Fulanis to vote for a man that supports Kanu. |
jimyjames:First we were lucky with ebola virus, Dr. Adadavoh practically martyred herself to save Nigeria. The first carrier was quickly identified and quarantine. Secondly, the Lagos State government took prompt action and quickly set up a quarantine centre at yaba. The the FG also supported the Lagos State effort Thirdly Ebola is not as contagious as coronavirus, while ebola is contacted with contact, coronavirus is airborne. Imagine one infected person in a church or mosque. Coronavirus virus speeds like wild fire. |
jimyjames:How do you know non is infected with the virus? Did anyone tell you that the millions of people told to stay indoors for a couple of weeks are infected with the virus? Nigeria that did or does still not have reagents to test for the virus, Nigeria that does not have quarantine facilities for the virus and you want to bring suspected carriers or infected people home. You want to remove them from a country with first class facilities to a country with zero facilities Is your brains paining you |
gidgiddy:You cannot compare boko haram with the Biafran conflict. Boko Haram is a well funded and armed group. Boko Haram is international in nature getting support and logistics from numerous countries and sources. They are active in many countries in West Africa. All these advantages the Biafrans did/don't have. As you said Boko haram is not fighting a conventional war but a guerilla one. Such unconventional war is extremely difficult to win. Even the Almighty USA has not been able to defeat the Taliban after close to 20 years of war. The Nigerian government didn't actually defeat Biafra, it was Biafra that chose to end the war. My father was a Biafran officer and he told me that there were thousands of armed Biafran Soldiers who were determined to carry on with the war, even if guerilla style. The only reason they decided to stop fighting is because Ojukwus trusted deputy, General Philip Effiong, asked them to give peace a chance. Even as at that, most them still held to their guns for days, even weeks, to know if there was going to be a massacreYour dad lied to you. The Biafrans had completely run out of food and ammunition. Ojukwu has lost most of his territory and the federal troops were closing up on him. Each day the war prolonged, thousands of Biafran children, women and population were dying of starvation. The pictures of children and even men with serious cases of malnutrition immediately after the war are all over the Internet. Prolonging the war further would have been considered genocide. This narrative that Nigerian Soldiers had conquered the place and could do whatever they wanted wasn't true. Had those thousands of armed Biafran Soldiers chose to carry on guerilla style, the war might still be on now.Guerilla style war in such a small space with high population density after losing a war against a bitter enemy? The soldiers would just shoot every thing that moves. In the case of Ojukwu fighting a war, he didnt have much choice really. He had gone to Ghana, signed an agreement with Gowon so that there would be no war, Gowon broke the agreement. It was either submit to the will of Gowon and his Northern cohorts or fight for freedom. Freedom is one of the few things in life worth fighting for and Ojukwu and his people have no apologies for doing soThe aburi according was hand Ojukwu secession through the back door, it would never have worked. It would have made things difficult for other regions that did not ask for secession. Kanu and IPOB are seeking self determination, which enshrined in international law that Nigeria has signed up to. It is the right of self determination that people like Zik, Awolowo and others used in asking for independence from Britain for the indigenous people in NigeriaAnother lie by IPOB. There is no international law anywhere that allows for secession. What the international law allows is rights of Indigenous peoples . Rights of Indigenous people does not equate to secession. It is the same right that Kanu and others are using to ask Nigeria for independence for indigenous Igbos of Nigeria. What is wrong in people asking for freedom and independence? May be Kanu's style of agitation may not be to everyone's liking but he has not taken up arms and he did not kill anybody.Kanu has no right to ask anyone for independence. Kanu has no authority whatsoever to ask for anything, except you are telling me a mad man can shout from the streets or social media that freedom should be given to hemp smokers to do as they like, and have the support of hundreds of hemp smokers. Nigeria's independence went through the political process. It went through paliament, was negotiated with the British and the regions had constitutional conferences. One man did not go into the streets insulting Britain and British people demanding for independence. So what is the problem? Is by force to be a Nigerian? No. You could renounce your Nigerian citizen if you wish, afterall kanu is a British citizen. If the igbos want out of Nigeria, they know what do do. They have many intelligent people. |
gidgiddy:I know emotions would not allow you to reason property, but the OP is right. The outcome of the war could have been worse if Gowon did not intervene. Remember ordinary igbo civilians residing in the nirth were already being massacred by the northerners, imagine what northern soldiers would have done to helpless igbo civilians if Gowon was unable to rein them in. You guys think too much of UK, UN, US and the international community. They are only after their interests. Genocide is going on right now in many parts of the world, ie Rohingya, Tibet, Uyghur, Palestine, etc., and the international community has looked on. If not for the Kurds, the Yazidis would have been wiped of the face of the earth by ISIS. Gowon never wanted war, he only wanted power and to avenge the January 1966 murders. He saw the civil war as a fight between brothers and not a fight to the finish. If he had allowed a genocide against the igbos, it would have weighed heavily on the conscience of Nigeria and rendered the victory meaningless. Remember in history, many other tribes had been exterminated after losing a war. Most south American tribes were extinguished by the Spanish. |
Chigold101:The same political naivety. It's through political power he can help his people. So not attending a 1 day funeral is equivalent abandoning his people? How many politicians that IPOB has supported that has won any elections in the south east, not to talk of Peter obi. |
obailala:This is why I say that the igbos still have huge lessons to learn in the game of politics. They play politics with emotions instead of high strategy game. They think politics is ludo instead of chess. If Obi still wants to play national politics, he should have avoided IPOB related activities. He could have supported them underground but not openly. IPOB has declared other tribes their arch enemy, especially the Yorubas and Hausa Fulanis. These are the same tribes you need to get any national elective position in Nigeria. How does Obi expect Yorubas and Hausa Fulanis to support his Vice presidential ambitions in 2023? Atiku has a high chance of clinching the president after Buhari's tenure expires, and he has already built a working relationship with Obi. I would wait to see if Atiku (a fulani man) would still present Obi as his Vice in the next elections. Remember Obi was given to Atiku by a Yoruba man - Obasanjo. It would have made sense if ipob was already a political force in the south east, and their support in essential for wining elections, but IPOB has zero political value in the south east. |
luluosas:False belief. Eternal hell fire is a concept introduced by the Greeks in the form of hades. The Romans changed hades to Pluto. And the Christian writers decided to incorporate the concept into their new religion. Judaism has no concept. Moses never mention hell or hell fire in the Pentateuch. |
luluosas:That threat of hell fire doesn't work anymore. People don't generally fear the threat, else we would not one of the most corrupt people on earth, even though 95% of the people are either Christian or Muslim. |
Sewgon79:We are even lucky he killed only himself, other places they kill many others before killing himself. In Thailand last week a soldier killed 21 people and injured dozens more before being shot. It's a kind of suicide because he knew he would be killed and wanted to kill as many people before being killed. |
Eteka1:Don't mind people that have Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). They have the urge and obsession to call and think Daura every waking moment of their life, they then turn round and blame Daura for every thing wrong with their lives. If it's not Daura they are obsessed with, then it's Tinubu or Yoruba. It a huge burden to carry and it's self leads to depression and other mental illnesses. I wound be surprised if the people jumping into the lagoon are such people. Suicide is usually as a result of depression. It knows no race, tribe, religion or class. In fact rich people has a higher tendency to commit suicide than poor people. Poor people cope with the hope and a prayer for a better tomorrow, rich people have no such coping mechanism. |
jimyjames:It depends on the class of traditional rulers. There are first class traditional rulers, there are second class traditional rulers, then there are chiefs. If a first class traditional ruler dies, many felloe first class traditional rulers will grace the burial, but if a clan chief dies, many fellow clan chiefs would grace the burial. Same way, if a general dies many fellow Generals will attend the burial. |
jimyjames:Neither did we have many soldiers at kanu's dad burial. |
jimyjames:I thought you knew what a delta is, and how deltas form. Obviously, you don't. So let me school you, although IPOB are never interested in learning, they just spew propaganda and fantasies as fact. A river delta is a landform created by deposition of sediment that is carried by a river as the flow leaves its mouth and enters slower-moving or stagnant water.[1][2] This occurs where a river enters an ocean, sea, estuary, lake, reservoir, or (more rarely) another river that cannot carry away the supplied sedimentThe Niger Delta is the delta linking the River Niger to the Atlantic ocean. These are only 3 states namely Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers states. The political deltas were created by politicians as a means of distributing oil monies or derivation among oil producing states. Abacha and Babangida created OMPADEC comprising 6 states namely Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, and Rivers states. When Obasanjo came on board in 1999, he added 3 more states, namely Abia, Imo and Ondo and renamed the commission Niger Delta Development Commission. Below is the 13% derivation for the first half of last year which reflect the percentage of oil produced by the states of the NDDC. Abia and Imo states contribution is less than 3%
|
jimyjames:What do you understand by niger delta state? Are you talking of geographical Niger delta or political Niger delta? So Abia and Imo produces 80% of Nigeria's revenue? |
jimyjames:Only 80%, I thought it was 200%. When the Niger delta are suspicious of the motives of igbos trying to force them into Biafra, you guys begin to curse and throw tantrums The crude belongs to the Niger delta and not any phantom Biafra. |
jimyjames:Please provided a statement by Ojukwu supporting Biafra after 1970. Ojukwu supported the Biafran struggle only during the war. |
jimyjames:Abeg, how much money does Nigeria make from Biafra? How much does the whole of Asia contribute to the national purse? |
jimyjames:Ojukwu never believed in the Biafra cause. He was born, bred and died a Nigerian. The Biafran struggle was thrust on him, being the most senior igbo military officer left after the July 1966 coup, and he had the obligation to save his people from genocide in the north. He abandoned the Biafran struggle as soon as the war was over, and came back to fight for his father's properties in Nigeria. |
jimyjames:But it's not an insult when the so called king ( a Chief in one of the seven clans making up the Ibeku kingdom ) collects monthy allocations from the state government, which comes from Nigeria? |
Because the igbos have not indicated they want to leave. No igbo representative, like traditional rulers, chiefs, professionals, politicians, businessmen, academics and even spiritual leaders have indicated the intent on leaving. All we have is jobless youths, traders and okada riders along with some igbos in diaspora led by one jobless youth, spewing insults at Nigerians and other Nigerian tribes up and down. |
Rekhina:Abeg which one concern Urhobos and Itsekiris for this matter? Can't you guys have your celebrations without dragging others along? If other tribes sold their wives, land and stool to Fulanis, what is your business, why is it paining so much? Why take the pains of injection for another person's illness, don't you have your own to worry about? You attack others minding their own business, and then turn around and say they attack you. Are you sure you are not suffering for cognitive dissonance? |
Adeebiwa09:I tire for Nigerians o. We are the only people that has no idea of what is being talked about but claim expert, while spewing nonsense. I did not even know we had electron microscopes in any university. Tell me can DNA of viruses be sequenced in Nigeria. How can Nigerian scientist make research to find cure, when there are zero research facilities? Maybe the minister is talking of mixing agbo that can cure corona virus and probably cancer along with it. |
AshiraWealthy:You are talking like more than an SU, you are talking like the moral Police. She is a 29 year old fine lady, you expect her to remain a virgin for life? What if no man proposed to marry her or she is yet to see a man she is interested in marrying. I have always disagreed on making marriage a condition for sex. It might force guys into marriage just because he wants sex, after the sex and he does not like the girl or even the sex, what happens? A lifetime of miserable marriage or divorce? Life is complex and varied, no two relationships follow the same trajectory. We must each take our own unique path according to situations, plans and fate. All relationships are risks, we may end up winning, we may end up with the short end of the stick, the most important thing is to learn to make the best of whatever situation we find our self. Sex did not dent her image. They had sex because, they had been in a relationship of over 10 years. Her main mistake is allowing herself to get pregnant without using contraceptive or insisting of condoms. It is we blacks that still get pregnant by mistakes, women in advanced countries plan for pregnancies, even the married ones. Having said that, where I quarrel with the Sister is doing boyfriend for 10 years without it leading to marriage. If after 2 to 4 years of relationship a guy does not propose marriage, you move on. Time is not on women's side. |
Validated:How does that work? You mean the US will punish a full adult for the perceived sins of a family member? Even Osama Bin Laden's brothers and sisters were given US residency, despite their brother being US number one enemy. |
Jobabori:Don't mind them, they talk as if USA is heaven or entering USA will ensure heaven. What will geriatric supreme Court justices with lifetime privileges be looking for in USA? |
Lugianostar:Don't mind them, ordinary malaria that's the number 1 killer disease in the world, they are not spending money on research or promising reward for research, they are talking about a virus that is yet to infect just 1 black man. I have said it again and again, I doubt the new corona virus would be a problem for us in this part of Africa, as we have never had problems with the flu virus and other flu like viruses. Non of the other corona viruses had really had impact on us in the past. If we are vulnerable, I am sure it would have been at our shores already, as the test kits to even test for the virus only arrived last week. I am not saying we should get complacent though and not protect ourselves. |
rottennaija:The first paragraph made good sense, then you spoil the whole thing with stupid suggestion. Where will the assembly of scientists get samples of the corona virus, and where will they get patients to test the vaccine on? Will they import infected Chinese into the country or move base to wuhan china? |
AnonymousRebec:Forget abortion? You think it's easy moving on with life as single parent without help from the father or family? You are just speculating on the future without know the background of the lady. It the lady that can understand her situation and make the best decision. Even though I am strongly pro abortion, I will not advice to rush into it in this case. First the lady is 29 years, she would be 30 by the time she birth the baby. Time is not exactly on her side. Finding a husband and giving birth becomes increasingly difficult as women age. Secondly, since the guy acknowledge he is the owner of the pregnancy, and he did not demand an abortion, it means at least he will take some responsibility. Even if he does not marry the lady, he should help in financial matters concerning the raising of the child. Thirdly, the pregnancy is getting bit too old. After 8 weeks, the procedure will be a bit more traumatic that at say 4 weeks. I prefer that a woman should make up their minds early enough. Four, how will the pregnancy affect her job or career? Is she in school? who will cater for her and the pregnancy before and after birth, ie prenatal, birth and post natal expenses? The final decision lies with the lady, she is the one that will suffer the consequences of the pregnancy, and she is the one that will care and raise the baby. |
Dreadful:Igbos started suffering in Nigeria since 1945, but they pushed us into one Nigeria, rejected a secession clause and unified the country. You obviously have no idea what South Sudanese went through at the hands of the Sudan government and their supporter of APC, during the second civil war. |
