SirVintageCock:You still failed to answer the question, whou still have been requesting compensation? The land owners or the community? Remembers as someone rightly pointed out, this project was proposed over 3 decades ago. It had been awarded and re-awarded. Even Jonathan moved to site, and you think all these times, the people directly affected by the project had not been compensated? Why now? If the FG shelve the project on a wimp as you suggested because the communities does not allow the contractor to work, I hope you will not shout marginalisation and blame the FG of abandoning the East. |
KosiGee:I am just annoyed. My cousin went to the village and only came back yesterday. The situation is appalling. We are not gaining any thing from the project because of infighting, not even jobs for our youths or contracts. He was complaining that they brought in Igbos from Portharcourt to do the jobs and contracts. I told him I don't blame them, because they have to hire people that are ready to work. I am interested in the supply contracts, but, they are afraid to deal with anyone from our community because of the court cases. There is no way to monitor their activities, as they brought in lots of security personel to shield themselves from restive youths. |
Mescana22:Bone that thing. Ghana no near Nigeria. Ghana dey try for their small size and resources, but you can compare them to Nigeria. How many urban cities the whole of Ghana get? Is it up to 6. After Accra, Kumasi, Sekondi-Takoradi, Sunyani, Obuasi, and Cape Coast, which other urban cities do they have. Nigeria has 6 urban cities in every state. How many doctors have they produced, how many professors, how many world renowned businessmen? Do they have the equivalent of Dangote, Adenuga, Innocent Chukwuma, Okonjo Iweala, wole soyinka, Fela, Whiz kid, etc. In which sphere or profession will Ghana beat Nigeria? Since Ghana depends a lot on tourism, they need lots of promotions to attract foreigners, and thus the propaganda. |
rodeo0070:Forth in the world? I apologise to my eastern brothers for calling them chest beaters. According to omatsola, dem dey learn. Ghanaians are chest drummers. |
Cmanforall:Landowners must have been compensated, the people blackmailing the FG are communities (read between the lines - chiefs, elders and youths). |
Princedapace:And you shift blame to the FG and exonerate greedy community elders and youths who want to blackmail the FG and contractors for personal greed. You are right, When God create black man, he didn't give him brain. |
Yusuf4:Are you sure you know what you are saying? A major road and bridge passing through your community will not benefit the community? A bridge a major bridge that will link the south to the rest the country. Anywhere a major road in completed, land value double instantly. |
KosiGee:It's the communities that are blackmailing. There is no way the projects would pass through design and survey stage and contractor move to site without compensating the families. I dey vex right now. Oil drilling just commenced in my community and in my village a few months back. Our community leaders have been collecting Ghana must go bags from the contractors without letting anyone know. When people became aware, serious gbege. Now we have over 5 factions fighting each other including court case. Even the Olu has waded in and no solution. The contractors just brought Navy, army and mopol. Anyone that comes near the site will be shot. Now they are drilling without paying all the necessary compensations, and I don't blame them. That's why I laugh when people who have no idea of Niger Delta politics and greed shout resource control. |
mrvitalis:Yes negotiate with families. Did the families claim they have not been compensated? I doubt the projects would have been designed, surveys carried out and contractors moved to site without settlement with the actual land owners. |
Collins4u1:Compensate them for what exactly? Was their family properties or farmlands affected. |
BuhariAdvocate:What do you mean settle community? Is the project itself not enough settlement for the community. Take for example the second Niger bridge, do you know the long term benefits the bridge will bring to communities on either side of the bridge, and the whole south east as a whole. This is the bridge south easterners had been clamouring for decades. A few greedy people will now chase contractors from site because the want to collect money. Mind you, I am not saying those that lands directly affected by the projects should not be compensated, but giving all the communities (aka community elders and youths) along the route money for not doing any work is wrong. |
TheShopKeeper:Briefing Ke? Trump and his worshippers believes Trump does not need any briefings, be it white house, pentagon or state department briefings, afterall Trump is omniscient. The only briefing Trump needs is Twitter briefings. God forbids the US is actually involved in a real war under Trump. We will then learn whether the maxim by Alexander the great of "An army of sheep led by a lion is better than an army of lions led by a sheep" is actually true. |
Wyttcat:You guys Deification of Trump is more than all previous prophets put together. Any press that talks against trump or his policies are enemy of State, any public officers that disagree with Trump is Deep state, any Military officer that criticise Trump policy is useless and over rated officer, all other people that disagree with Trump are either liberals or Democrats. In fact Trump to them is Omniscient and Omnipotent. The irony is all Trump supporters are the most ignorant people on the surface of the earth. They don't care about facts or logic, they just say things without processing it through their brains. The US is said to have the best military principally because of its huge military budget and use of technology (mainly aerial superiority). US believes so much in using aerial bombings to win wars. But it had never worked in winning wars for the US through out its war history. Overwhelming air superiority did not win the Vietnam war, the Korean war and Afghan war. Israel also employed continuous bombing for 3 weeks in the Israel-hisbollah war of 2005, it could not gain territory from Hisbollah when they sent in ground troops. US ground troops or infantry soldiers are not the best in the world. They don't have the tactical discipline required by good infantry soldiers. That's why they take huge casualties in all ground operations. The British are better infantry soldiers than than the US. It was actually the Kurds that put boots on the ground that defeated ISIS, the US only provided air cover and military advisers. It is a joke to say Trump cut ISIS to size. Trump did not bring in any new strategy to the ISIS war, he only continued with Obama's strategy of providing air support and arms to the Kurds. Is was loosing huge territory before Trump was sworn in, it's complete defeat was only a matter of time. As I said your ignorance is as bright as the morning star. The Kurds had been fighting for an independent state from 3 countries for decades, if not centuries. They have been fighting the Turkish, Iraqi and Syrian government for an autonomous kurdish state. Saddam Hussain used military force including chemical gas attacks to keep them in check. Turkey had been fighting the Turks before your so called deep state against Trump. What do you mean "God used Obama to punish America for its sins and he will in turn pay for his own sins."? Are you sure you are not on some type of drugs? |
Just30:False equivalence. Nigeria is very different from Ghana. Our borders are way longer than Ghana's and so more difficult to man, besides most of the smuggling don't happen at the borders, there are hundreds if not thousands of bush paths and water ways smugglers use to smuggle into the country. We have tried those policies you mentioned to no avail. I remember during IBB's time, a ban was placed on locating fuel stations close to the border. Placing trackers on all petrol tankers sound ridiculous. Do you know how many petrol tankers are on our roads. Fuel tankers line the whole Oshodi express way from tin can ports to cele (a distance of more than 10km) queuing load fuel. Same on the other end from tin can to Carter bridge blocking the whole of Apapa. There are thousands of petrol tankers coming and leaving Apapa everyday. Fuel consumption in Ghana is not up to 10% of what we consume in Nigeria. Now the smugglers have move to smuggling fertilizers out of Ghana to Burkina Faso because the government of Ghana has hugely subsidized it.How much fertiliser is smuggled from Ghana, I am sure it cannot be more than a few tens or at worst hundreds of tons, you want to compare it to the Millions of litres of petrol smuggled from Nigeria daily? How much subsidy do the government pay for fertiliser? Can it be compared to the N3 trillion Jonathan paid during his time, or the nearly N500 billion budgeted for next year? On the border with Togo, Nigerians are smuggling textiles into Ghana dailyNigerians smuggling textiles into Ghana? That's news to me. Where are they getting the textiles from, as our textile mills are not working. Are you insinuating they import the textiles through our ports and then smuggle it all the way to Ghana through Benin republic and Togo? |
drakeli:That's true. If Ghana did not redenominate their currency, GHC10,000 in 2007 for don reach for GHC70,000 today. Meaning 1 cedi would have been equivalent of 70,000 cedis. |
stagger:That's why I am laughing louder than a hyena when someone says Ghanaian economy is better managed than Nigeria. Ghana Cedi that was redenominated in 2007 due to hyper inflation . Ghana Cedi had a 20,000 note before the redenomination. To make the cedi look strong, they removed 4 zeros from their currency, so 20,000 GHC became 2cedis. Even with the redenominations, inflation has continued to devalue the currency. After the redenomination GHC0.92 exchanged for one $1, today GHC5.48 exchange for $1, a 700% increase. In comparison, N120 exchanged for $1 in 2007, today it's at N360, that's a 400% increase. |
Wyttcat:My brother bone that thing. US that will withdraw their troops before the first shots are fired. US that ran away from Northern Syria because Erdogan threatened to invade. They were even still on the run while Turkey was bombing the Kurds. As I said Nigeria and Ghana should never fight, as we share the same history of colonialisation and exploitation by the British. We were the same under British West Africa and people were relocated within the two countries seamlessly. We should see each other as brothers. I hate this new trends of unhealthy rivalry and competition. |
Babaken:Forget customs. Customs is one of the most corrupt organization in Nigeria. They exist basically to collect bribes. If you enact stricter laws and penalties, you will only succeed in increasing bribe money and making custom officers richer. All governments in the past have grappled with this border issue. I remember Obasanjo closing the border on numerous occasions only to open it after pleading from Benin Republic. The only difference this time is Buhari is deaf. |
winterfell007:I say you guys only regurgitate economic theories you read in text books, you have no idea of how it works in the real world. Most countries of the world employ protectionist policies. Donald Trump is a hardliners protectionist. He has imposed tarrifs on almost all goods coming into the US. He does not believe in free trade and open borders. Same with China. China is over protectionist. You cannot import anything freely into China, not even technology. It is only weak developing nations that the western developed countries through the world Bank and IMF tries to force to open their borders to free trade. |
psychologygh:I am highly disappointed by your stance on this issue. Nigeria is hemorrhaging from our borders, and instead of you guys to understand and help profer a solution, you are threatening trade war. You even said you have similar issues with Togo, I expected you work with Nigeria diplomatically to solve the problem. Do you know the damage the western and Northern borders are doing to our economy? Are you aware that we import (and pay subsidiaries on 40 million litres of petrol everyday) one would think we drink petrol like alcohol. Since the border closure, our fuel consumption is said to reduce to 30 million litres per day. Imagine multiplying 10 million by N50 subsidy everyday (apart from depleting our foreign reserves from the actual importation). Then there is the vexatious issue of using Benin and Togo as a transit point for smuggling all sorts of goods into Nigeria, cars, rice, poultry, second hand clothing including socks and bra, etc. The smuggling activities undermine all government policies. No other country in this world would endure the kinds of sabotage to its economy as being done by our neighbours. You are saying the same falsehood that enemies of Nigeria are propagating, that Nigeria banned importation from other countries. This is very far from the truth. What was banned was importation through the land borders (for now). Ghana, being our closest west African brother should look for ways of addressing our concerns by suggesting alternative solutions, like creating a fool proof corridor or using shipping lanes, instead of threatening and emotional rants. Believe me the $300 million yearly trade Nigeria does with Ghana pales into insignificance, when compared to the daily damage to our economy by smuggling. |
dalongjnr:When did our culture start frowning are unclothedness? Has it been been up to 100 years? And which pdart of our culture frown at nakèdness, Christianity or Islam? |
dalongjnr:What are you yapping about? Your first argument is that unclothedness is foreign to our culture and that dressing like a nun or wearing burka and hijab was our culture. After some if us showed that dressing up fully is a fairly recent recent phenomenon, you then went on to say your own culture has always been fully dressed up in leaves, animal skin and hemp. After someone show that even your culture did not and could not have embraced full body clothings. You now brought up the argument of poor resources, exposure and knowledge. Are you now insinuating Kim Oprah has poor resources, exposure and knowledge due to her dress sense? People have always dressed according to climate, culture and personal preference. It would be stupid to suggest Africans living in the tropics will be fully covered from head to toe in leaves, animal skin or hemp. Now, are you suggesting South Africans young girls that go naked in their yearly cultural festivities have poor resources, exposure, and knowledge? What of Spain that have similar festivities, do they also have poor resources, exposure, and knowledge? What's worrying most people in Nigeria is religious fundamentalism. You feel everyone else must live according to your values, and hate everyone that does not. There is even a topless day held on August 26th of every year in major cities in the US and the West, where women (and men) go around town topless.
|
dalongjnr:That's not true. Our grandmothers, especially Great grandmothers walked around naked or semi-naked. Infact nudity was celebrated back in the days. We are just going back to our roots.

coluka:You are the one behaving like a slithering snake that has tied itself into a knot, and looking for ways to untie itself. What is the allegations exactly? That Joe Biden used his influence to stop and instigation into a company that Hunter Biden is a board member? Now, who is alleged to have committed a crime, Joe Biden for influence peddling or Hunter Biden for being on the board of the company. Now, has any allegation of corruption been brought against Burisma? How could Hunter and Joe Biden have been alleged to have committed a crime, while the company he works for have not been accused of any crime? If Rudy Gulianni is a citizen and has a responsibility to report allegations of corruption he finds, aren't there official channels to channel those allegations. Are you telling me that all US private citizens channel allegations through the US president. Then after channeling the allegations, then the Onus now rest with him to investigate the allegations, abi? Maybe he would prosecute and sentence the accusers also, as he can complete the cycle of accuser, investigator, prosecutor, jury and judge. 2. It is normal for Trump to ask for the assistance of Ukraine's president in the investigation of the allegations against Biden because of the ''United States Treaty With Ukraine On Mutual Legal Assistance In Criminal Matters'' signed in 1998.I don't have time to read the treaty now, but I doubt the treaty is on a personal president to president favour level. I am sure that there are laid down channels to initiate assistance in criminal matters under the agreement. There is no proof that Trump initiated the Treaty On Mutual Legal Assistance In Criminal Matter, outside the rogue operation by Gulianni and phone call by Trump. Using the treaty as an excuse was an after thought. Was there such treaty also with China, as Trump also asked Xi Jinping also to investigate the Biden's. It seems the treaty was signed specifically for the Biden family. 3. Trump knows the official channels to initiate crimes commited by US citizens abroad is through the DOJ and that's why the phone conversation transcripts said he would ask the US attorney general to talk with the Ukraine President’s people and get to the root of the matter. If Trump knew that the attorney general is the head of the DOJ, why give Gulianni the responsibility of the investigation. Should it not be the responsibility of the attorney general to assign FBI agents to investigate the case? What has been the role and response of William Barr in all these? |
garetz:Can you ever see any thing wrong with anything Trump will ever do? Trump was referring to you when he said " even if he shoots someone in broad daylight light in the middle of 5th avenue, he will not lose any support. Please read the letter slowly and tell me if he was not begging and pleading with Erdogan. I am certain in Erdogan's mind he will be thinking "what an idiot". Upon all the huffing and puffing Trump did last week about complete destruction of the Turkish economy, Erdoghan just ignored him. The Turkish lira has even strengthened since then. Imagine, it was Putin that was threatening Turkey, Erdoghan would shake, but he knows Trump is a spoilt baby with a loaded gun, throwing tantrums up and down. He has very short attention span. Ignore him and he moves on. |
feedthenation:And Nigerian Abobakus will belch this nonsense zendi: According to the source, Trump cut Schumer off and responded that Mattis was "the world’s most overrated general. You know why? He wasn’t tough enough. I captured ISIS. Mattis said it would take two years. I captured them in one month." . I thought Mr Trump employs the best people.Trump's type of madness is so severe that he will be rejected at Yaba left. He is talking as if he went to the war front and captured ISIS fighters. It was the Kurds that went into the battlefield to capture ISIS and appreciation from Trump is to abandon them at the first sign of trouble. In fact he has released ISIS again within a week, and this is what General Mattis is pointing out to him. |
This satirical song summarises Trump's crimes. It's called crime after crime. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6FJOL2RPdI It's hilarious! |
basilico:You people just make wild allegations without bothering how ridiculous you sound. Which illegal stuff did Obama do, that he is being protected from. Where is the evidence that Obama was spying on his birther opponents, and how many opponents was Trump spying on? So Nancy Pelosi's son sitting on the board of an Ukraine gas company and Hunter Biden being paid 83k USD per month for 5 years is now a federal crime in the US. In that case we need to investigate all public officers in the US, from federal, state and county officers to see which members of their families sit in boards both in the US and abroad and jail all of them. |
obixcel:Nancy Pelosi had never supported impeachment, not necessarily because she thinks Trump is not culpable, but because knows the Republican dominated house will never remove Trump. She feels it will be a waste of time. Pelosi is reluctantly going ahead half heartedly with the impeachment because she would face a rebellion in the party if she continued holding out. The vast majority of Democrats favour impeachment, even if it does not lead to a removal from office. |
coluka:And who was making allegations against Joe and Hunter Biden? Did the Ukrainian government complain to Trump that Hunter Biden have a corruption case to answer in Ukraine? Was the whole allegation not raised solely by Guiliani and his associates? When did Rudy Gulianni become James Bond, that is mandated by his majesty to investigate criminals abroad? Is it the norm to ask foreign leaders to investigate US citizens as a favour even then no crime has been alleged against them and the person is a potential political rival (let's even forget the alleged quid pro quo for now). You mean to tell me Trump does not know the official channels to initiate crimes commited by US citizens abroad? |
obixcel:White Nationalist worshipper, ,what's the whistleblower going to testify that was not in the rough transcript released by the white house? What's the whistle blower going to testify that is different from what the former ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch, has not testified What is the whistle blower going to testify again, when Trump and his personal lawyer have confirmed, they indeed pressured the Ukrainian president to investigate Hunter and Joe Biden? |
MetaPhysical:It surprises me also. A country the size of cross rivers state feeding the whole world Have they been able to feed their 10 million odd population? Approximately 80% of the grain consumed in Israel is imported from other nations. Besides only about 20% of Israel's land is arable to support agriculture. This Israel worship by a certain group of Nigerians us embarrassing. |
