Buhari already banned ait from aso rock. That was within his right.

Banning them from operating is a different ball game.

The American media is more cutthroat. They no send you.
They have no respect for the seat of the president.
They are not rational depending on the party you fall under.

If you cannot condone small ait, I wonder how you would react if it was CNN or abc or even fox that hate any Democratic Party president.

Trump called Nigeria a shitt Hole. Your president has proven him right.
I disagree with you that it is within the rights of a president to ban a member of the 4th realm of the estate from performing their constitutional duties, especially if they have not committed any crime. After all Aso Rock is not Buharis property. If AIT has lawyers on its payroll and did not commit any crime, the should take the matter to court, just as CNN took the white house to court in the Jim Acosta ban.

Countries have broadcasting code, in terms of language and content, and any media house that breaks broadcasting codes is sanctioned by appropriate authorities, just like Seun sanctions members who violate his own code.

We will remind you in the future as usual, the same way we remind you guys of the past precedence when you clowns cry that the office of the president is being humiliated.

Buhari and the apc will not remain in power forever.
You will not be able to tell the new ruling party when to stop when they start their own.

Short sighted clown.
The office of the president is not the country. Too bad you feel pained Jonathan was humiliated. Buhari had been humiliated by PDP, IPOB and their supporters even before he took office. Most presidents around the world except absolute dictators like Kim June Un, ayatollah Khomeini or Prince Salman are humiliated everyday.

The line is when you attempt to use media to ferment trouble and undermine the integrity and security of the country.

There are one thousand and one rules CNN have broken, but Trump cannot shut them down.

It does not look good.

Nigeria does not have a stronger regulatory system than America.

You are just less democratic and more corrupt.
Trump has shut out many reporters from the white house, it is the courts that restored them back.

US media is not as irresponsible as our own media, and I blame all media. If their excesses is not curtailed, they will plunge this country into anarchy.

Imagine a US media company carrying such stories as " “US is cursed, we declare independent state of Texas”, “US irritates me”, “this country is gradually becoming white supremacist”

My Oga.

I am struggling with the bolded comparison a bit - 48v 50Ah is about 2.4kwh of energy stored - a standard 2hp AC could easily draw up to 2kw instantaneous or 2kwh in 1 hour - would you be planning to run your 2hp AC for just a little over an hour in a real life application?

All things being equal, a 48v 400Ah lead acid bank should outperform a 48v 50Ah Lithium bank on nearly all metrics.

We need to be careful with these comparisons so that lay readers are not inadvertently misled - someone who puts out good money for an undersized Lithium bank (relative to his average loads) may be sorely dissappointed with the real life performance he sees.
Yes a 48v 400ah lead acid battery should out perform a 48v 50Ah lithium battery, but it's a bit more complicated.

A 48v 400ah battery set up consists of the equivalent of 8 200ah deep cycle lead acid batteries. At the cost of an average of N120,000, that's N960,000.
You know lead acid battery capacity is rated at C/20. Drawing 2kw from lead acid battery is C/4.8, so the capacity of the 48v 400ah battery would reduce to about to about 300ah (maybe less). It even gets worse. It is not recommended to draw above 50% DOD from lead acid batteries, 60% max, so you maximum usable capacity from the battery is 180Ah at the cost of N960,000. Don't forget the average cycle of lead acid is between 300 to 600 cycles when used carefully.

A 48 50Ah lithium phosphate battery system is the equivalent of one 200ah battery, the average cost of which is about N500,000. A lithium phosphate battery can be discharged 90% DOD, without significant loss of battery life. That means a 48v 50ah lithium battery can supply 45ah without any problem. Note that lithium phosphate batteries are rated at an average of 2000 cycles.

The 48v 400ah lead acid battery outperforms the 48v 50ah lithium battery by a factor of 4 to 1 on capacity.

The lithium iron battery outperforms the lead acid on cycles (life time) by a factor of 4:1 also. So when we look at the combination of capacity vs life time, the two battery set ups are the same.

Having said that, the 48v 50a lithium set up is too small to run a 2000w continuous load. So the best set up for this load would be 4 x 48v 50Ah lithium phosphate battery set up. This would give you similar capacity to the 48v 400ah lead battery and last 4 times as long (might last much longer) at the cost of just a little over double the cost.
The main problem with lead acid batteries is having to replace the batteries ever 1 or 2 years.

It's a wrong precedent to over rule the referee's decision on the field of play. The referee should have the final decision. Even though I support the use of VAR in football, VAR should only assist the referee and not take the place of the referee. Football had been played before VAR, and we had lived with bad decisions by incompetent, bias or corrupt referees for decades. It's all part of the game. If the referee erred, the referee can be banned or sanctioned, but the sanctity of the referee must be preserved.

Good inverters allow for custom battery modes, so you could very easily set your cut-off, bulk and/or float points.
That's for a limited number of inverters as most are designed for lead acid batteries. Lithium batteries do not have float points or voltage.

What you said is very simple. Honestly, we need to be tactical and wary of this people because before you know it, they will use style and start pushing a very wrong narrative towards the Eatsern folks. Honestly, I have no issue with being religiously tolerant with with people of other faiths. But what I find disturbing is trying to bring what you believe in to others.
True you guys have to very tactical, but you have been employing wrong tactics design by a juvenile youth group with no political experience. The idea of expressing anger at a well reputed organization for a simple happy holidays message does not look good in the international community.

No one is trying to change your beliefs, they are only telling you to be tolerant of the beliefs and views of others whose views you don't agree with.

Igbos who I know are predominantly Christians and core catholics. Atimes they can be extremist im their followership of Christianity which atimes is good. Because if the Northern Muslims can be staunch in there followership of Allah, what prevents Igbos from being staunch in theirs too?
Extremism in any format is never good. Extreme socialism is bad, so is capitalism. Extremist Christianity is as bad as extremist Islam. The reason the whole world is against ISIS, Boko Haram, etc is due to their extremist ideology and not because of Islam. If IPOB decide to take extremist Christian or Jewish ideology, they will be put in the same category as Boko Haram.

It wouldn't make any sense to go to a page that is predominantly Igbos and wish them Eid El Fitri knowing fully well they can be very sensitive with religion. Islam is like a taboo to most Igbos I know and obviously, they don't even want to do anything with it.
The keyword is predominantly. Because one religion is predominant does not mean others should be shut out or oppressed.
I don't believe your narrative of " Islam is like a taboo to most Igbos I know and obviously, they don't even want to do anything with it". This is the narrative of IPOB ( who no.1 hatred is reserved for Islam after which is Afonja). Millions of Igbos in Lagos, the southwest and North do not harbour hatred for Islam.
Non of my Igbo in laws here in Laos harbour such hatred for Islam.

I was reading a comment from one Yoruba guy like that yesterday (Unlimtk or so) where he was lamenting bitterly that Yoruba muslims have have hijacked the Yoruba movie industry and that most times when he wants to watch the usual Yoruba movies, he will be hearing things like Allahu Akbar, Asalum Walleikum... etc.

This is exactly how it starts. They begin gradually by making foreign and abnormal things seem normal to you. Then gradually, infiltrate and penetrate your psyche. Bam... You are brainwashed.

You put on African magic Igbo channel tomorrow and see Mrs Nkechi telling her husband.. "Dim Oma, Asalum Amelekum"
Demand dictate the supply. How many Christians watch Yoruba movies compared to muslims. Yorubas are evenly split between muslims and Christians, nothing stops Yoruba Christians from making Christian movies if he feels there is demand. Mike Bamiloye is doing very well I the movie industry with his evangelical films.

How has it helped you than what Igbos prefer? Most people have no issues with Judaism. Hindism, Buddahism, atheism and you know it. I have never seen Igbo stopping people to worship whatever they want.
Last time I checked, there is freedom of religion and association in Nigeria. So you as one person cannot determine the religious preferences (or lack of) of the other over 40 million igbos. Even if there is only 1 igbo Muslim, he deserved to be wished a happy holidays.

You obviously are a very ignorant person. Buddhist have issues with Islam in India, Hindus have issues with Buddhists in Sri Lanka and atheists have issues with Muslims in Xinjiang, China. Anywhere you have intolerant people who tries to impose their views on others, there will be religious conflict.

You need more therapy from anger and hate that the Igbos? How many times have Igbos slaughtered your people because of your religion of choice? Was it the Igbos that burnt your worship centers, or cut of the head of a preachers in Abuja and Kano? You need huge deliverance from anger and hate than the Igbos, mister. Sorry sir, I do not agree with you. If you remove subsidy on fuel, cost of goods and services would triple and inflation would kill any attempt at meaningful production. shocked

This is because our level of infrastructure is still too poor, to cushion the impact of such subsidy removal. undecided

Even the money you think would be saved from subsidy removal, would not be enough to carry out any meaningful venture in other sectors, as inflation would wipe out such an endeavour. angry

And foreign investment cannot be guaranteed even when subsidy is removed. That same hypothesis was used to hoodwink Nigerians when the nation was told to devalue it's currency years ago. What happened?? shocked

Investment in the oil sector is not dependent on subsidy being removed. No one compels you to sell your products in the domestic market, after you have invested in the oil sector. You can always export it. Oil is an international commodity. sad
That's what I have been trying to tell IMF and World Bank supporters, our problem is not the subsidy itself but corruption. No country that does not subsidise one item or the other that is critical to their economy. Europe still heavily subsidise agriculture till today. Even the US itself subsidises agriculture. The US also subsidises coal. Many countries including China subsidises renewable energy.

In fact Nigeria is a country with one of the fewest subsidies in the world. Most OPEC countries subsidises fuel. We enjoy no health subsidy, no housing subsidy, no agricultural subsidy, nothing, only petrol subsidy.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria’s Fuel Subsidy Not Helping The Poor — World Bank by wirinet(m): 10:19am On Jun 04, 2019
grandstar:
Let's be honest. the poor benefit from cheap petrol. Transport cost is cheaper due to cheap petrol.
Cheap transport is critical to the survival of the poor. As it is the poor spend close to 30% of income on only transportation.

However, cheap fuel is one step forward, ten steps back.

Money that is spent to make fuel cheap could be better spent elsewhere.
Economies are built on cheap fuel (energy). Without cheap energy, you can never compete on the international stage. Countries go to war to secure sources of cheap energy.

It also leaves a gaping hole in the treasury which is inflationary and can lead to recurring depreciation of the Naira. Also, the subsidy also encourages corruption.
It is not subsidy that encourages corruption, the society encourages corruption, ie churches, mosques, traditional institutions, the people themselves. There is corruption in all facets of our society. Even if subsidy is removed, corruption will still remain in the upstream sector.

The most damaging effect of the subsidy is that it discourages investment in the downstream sector of oil industry. By now, Nigeria should be the refining giant of Africa exporting refined products throughout Africa and the world.
Refineries are a massive investment and only a few people apart from the FG can engage in it. It is general corruption pervasive in the society that is discouraging investment by main powers in the oil industry and not necessarily subsidy. Many multinational oil companies are even divesting in Nigeria due to problems of insecurity and corruption.

Instead, the country is a massive importer of refined oils. Who will set up a refinery and be forced to sell below the market price? Even Dangote has said he'll sell his products at market prices. Those who demand that the subsidy should remain should stay silent about fuel importation.
It depends on the sincerely and commitment of government to provide it's citizens with affordable and reliable fuel. Nigeria has 400,000 barrels assigned by OPEC for local consumption. It could enter a refining agreement with dangote, to refine on contract. It could sell crude to dangote at reduced prices for local consumption. The government can explore various partnership options with dangote refinery to all Nigerians enjoys affordable fuel.

GEJ was voted out of office due to the fact that he could not be trusted anymore with our national treasury. If you are still hurting, do us a favour and commit suicide.

Not that Buhari is much better (hence his need to massively rig the last elections), but Buhari is better trusted with our treasury that your "stealing is not corruption" hero

Subsidy can be removed, but only temporarily. Once you remove subsidy, it takes a few months for the inflationary effects to be felts by all sectors of the economy. After a while the naira catches up with the inflation, due to excess pressure on the naira and hence the need for subsidy once again. That's has been our cycle since early 70s when petrol was a couple of kobos per litre.
PoliticsThe Problem Of Nigeria And Africa Is Its Citizens, Their Shared Values by wirinet(op): 9:18am On Jun 04, 2019
*This is an excellent article written by a Ugandan citizen analysing the systemic rot in all African nations with Uganda as a case study.*

Please enjoy the article.

The biggest problem of Ugandans or Africans in general is this illusionary belief that they could change their countries by voting a different person into power. It is this belief that all problems of a country start and stop with the President. That if you could just have the right man in power, then all of a sudden, Africa would transform. This is what they call chasing a mirage, imagining some utopia. Unfortunately utopias are never realized in life.

The actual problem of Africa is not the presidents. From where do these presidents come? From within. The problem of Africa, the problem of Uganda is its citizens, their shared values and mentalities. The day Africans wakeup, and stop looking for an external enemy and realize that they themselves are Africa's problem is the day we shall get closer to finding an African solution.

I have often told friends that I am happiest whenever the MPs draw bigger salaries every financial year. As Ugandans we lambast our representatives in public for drawing these salaries. In private, we drain our MPs. We invite them for funerals, for introduction ceremonies and expect them to contribute out of pocket to save us. A Ugandan MP attends no less than 10 functions in a week on average. They are expected to find jobs for their people. They must contribute towards the least of needs. These big salaries they draw, they all go straight to the people they represent. Yet it seems some of us live in an illusion called Uganda. We expect our MPs to act as MPs in UK except that in our case, we also expect to play donor to their people's needs.

We decry the corruption in the country yet we bribe to get our children in the best schools. We bribe our way out of police tickets. We have no respect for traffic rules. We are every evil we see in the president and his team.

Every ill you can diagnose in Museveni and his government, you will find twice or thrice the magnitude in a Ugandan citizen.

We complain of government incompetence, yet go ahead to champion incompetence in every aspect of our lives where government has no control. Our carpenters produce substandard furniture.

I often ask myself; if the public sector is too incompetent, how come the private sector has not been any better? How come you are more bound to have a misdiagnosis in a private hospital than in a public hospital?

Daily Monitor, Observer, Red Pepper, New Vision write stories everyday that highlight government incompetence. Yet, there will never be a single day where you will pick up a Ugandan newspaper and fail to find an error on every page.

Perhaps one day as Ugandans we ought to self reflect, and look within and realize, that we are demons we are trying to fight. If Museveni and his government were the only incompetent people and everyone else was competent, then Uganda would be a scandinavian country of sorts. Why don't we have world class restaurants in the country? Why is it that customer care sucks in private institutions just as it does in public institutions?

Every Ugandan I meet complains of the system, of the incompetence. Then I ask myself; "you dear Ugandan, where can I find examples of your excellent output?"

The same people who complain of poor working conditions run slavery rings in their own homes. The day maids of this country decide to speak out, we shall be shocked at the evil we sustained in our homes.

I now suspect that our anger, our rants, our complaints about the system are all because this system is a daily reminder of our own incompetences, our own weaknesses as a people. What this government has done is hold a mirror up to the Ugandan society and we are not happy about our own reflection.

Today I read a sad story. That there are about 20,000 Asians in Uganda, less than 0.5% of the Ugandan Population. And that these pay 64% of our tax revenues. To put it simply, even the taxes we complain that government mishandles, more than half of them are paid by non-Ugandans. In other words, we don't even have a right to complain.

That should signify an innate Ugandan problem. There is something deeply wrong around how the Ugandan and African societies are constructed. Ugandan Citizens promise so much and deliver so little. Our shared beliefs, mindsets and values have been constructed in such a way that regardless of the president in power, we shall always produce substandard results. It is no wonder that all over Africa, we complain of the same problems. Littered cities, corruption, failed government institutions, name it all. You could fly from Uganda to Malawi to Ghana to Zambia and not notice a difference. Because? It is not a problem of presidents. It is a problem of the African citizens. But they are too scared of self-criticism, they have dabbled in escapism and found scapegoats in their leaders.

As Plato wrote in the Republic; "like man, like state." We can't expect to have better leaders until we have better people. You can't create great companies without great employees. It doesn't matter how great the CEO is, if she has crap employees, she will have a crap company. That is the case of Uganda and African countries!

Bro it’s actually true, the government should stop paying subsidy in Nigeria on fossil fuel and channel the money being paid on subsidy on infrastructural development and provision of employment NB:if only they will not embezzle the money.this way the government will achieve 2 basic things
1)reduction in environmental pollution and warming of the green house by reducing the number of cars, people can always take public transports which the government will provide in each cities with the funds which is meant to be paid on subsidy,or people can as well settle for car pooling I.e 3-4 people that works in the same area or move in the same direction leave there cars and use just one car and rotate it this way.

2)the government will have more money to provide social amenities.

THAINK YOU
Government cannot just remove subsidy on petrol without increase in local production. If subsidy is suddenly removed and petrol prices jump to N200 per litre overnight, there would be social unrest as Labour, students, opposition parties and the general masses would take to the streets. Petrol increases have been known to bring down governments in other parts of the world.

Buhari came, increased the pump price to what JEG wanted without subsidy, and still paying more than Jonathan ever paid. Nigerians are their biggest problem.
I know you guys will wail at Jonathan's loss till eternity, but Jonathan's fuel removal strategy was ill conceived and deceptive. Besides, people generally did not trust Jonathan with the extra money that would have been be raised a result of subsidy removal.
Nigeria has been removing subsidy since the 70s, had subsidy on petrol ever been removed? No. Why? Because as long as we import petrol, subsidy can never be removed. The more we remove subsidy, the more we will spend in naira to import the same quantity of petrol and the more the naira will fall, leading to inflation and the need for subsidy again.

After Dangote refinery and some other private refineries comes on board, and it's able to either reduce or eliminate the dependence on imported petrol, the government can then think of removing subsidy on petrol.

Shan shouldn't have called him out openly, Regina is above 18 and if the mom has no qualms about it, Who are we?

But this Ibinabo is just acting like she knows how everything went down.

Their headache sha.
E do me like cinema o! The girl family no complain, but Regina Daniels marriage to Ted Nwoko is driving some to the point of depression. This is a classic case of taking chloroquine for another man's malaria and complaining of all the itching.
PoliticsRe: 1966 Coup: “the Igbos Now Vindicated And Exonerated” - Olusegun Obasanjo by wirinet(m): 7:34am On Jun 03, 2019
This quote got me shocked and then laughing.
9. Lagos, a city built largely by Igbos and were Igbos invested heavily, was also ceded to Yorubas as a State even when there was no Abuja at the time (1967.)
shocked grin
Lagos that was first a Tributary of the benin Kingdom, used as a main slave port during the slave trade, then settled by Saro slaves in the 1820s and 1890s and finally designated by the colonialist as capital of Nigeria from 1914, was a city largely built by the Igbos.

The delusions is beyond medical explanation.

So unfortunate people still think like you, no wonder we are still where we are.
This is the real world and not some idealistic world created in your imagination. Are you insinuating that a winning president should jettison the party that enable him win the elections, and go in search for some fathom technocrats with no political value?

Very disappointed, when other countries are busy appointing intellects and tecnocrats we are busy appointing greedy and expired politicians. What is the next level about this ministers?
Quit that technocrat nonsense. Politics around the world is a game of numbers and loyalty. You can't expect politicians to waste money, energy and time campaigning for party victory and then when it comes to distributing the rewards of victory, you go and wake "technocrats", still sleeping in their bedrooms.
If technocrats want political offices, they should get involved with politics.

There is no point continuing this conversation since you are confusing a government directive with state law.

From your link.

I suggest you stop misleading people with your misrepresentation of the appeal court case.
Don't bother replying. I am out!
Na wa o! You people just argue senselessly based on pure ignorance. Why did you think the environmental sanitation exercise was abolished in Lagos? Do you think the lagos state government under Fashola on its own decided to just stop the exercise? It was the court that declared the law unconstitutional, null and void. I remember Fashola said he would appeal, I don't know if he actually did.

I quoted the report of a Federal High Court ruling and you are showing me a completely unrelated report of a court of appeal judge opinion ( I am not sure it's a ruling).

Until this judgement is upturned by the supreme Court, there is nothing Governor Sanwo-olu can do.
EducationRe: Ipod In Exam Hall: Landmark University Expelled My Friend. What Can He Do? by wirinet(m): 2:09pm On Jun 02, 2019
francescainnoce:
Landmark expelled my friend this just concluded semester for taking a device (iPod) into the exam hall. He didn’t cheat with the device and He assured them to double check with his script.
They called him for a defence panel and the verdict has been dispatched- EXPELLED.
What can he do please.
Anyone with similar experience(s). Please useful information will be very much appreciated.
Is it possible to revoke this verdict? Can it be appealed and what is the chance that he will win: is there anyone he could speak to or something. We don’t mind punishment for taking the device into the exam hall but expelling is a capital punishment and He didn’t even cheat with the device.
Please help save a young man from sliding into possible tension and depression!

@Mod please could you move this to the front page. I beg you please. We need help.
@lalastica please kindly move this to the front page.
Sorry to say, your friend has a very bad case. He should have presented all his defense and begging during the defense. After humpty Dumpty fell of the wall, it is impossible to put together again. You will waste money hiring a lawyer.

You were not there, either in the exam hall or at the defence, so you do not know exactly what transpired. You are vouching for him based on emotional attachments, but the law does not work that way. He was probably caught during the exams with the incriminating evidence. He was not caught before or after exams. You did not state under what circumstances he was caught. Why was he search during exams? Did he reach out for the IPOD? Where was the IPOD, in his pocket or hidden somewhere?

He did not have to use the IPOD to be guily, apart from the mere fact that he brought it into the exam Hall is an offence, any attempt to use it is also an offense.

I don't have any advice but for your friend to beg, authorities higher up, if he knows any influential person in society, now is the time to call the person. He should beg them to forgo the year
