Dasuki is the fall guy. Except Dasuki was very smart and kept records of instructions from Jonathan direction the illegal diversion of security funds, he is on his own. Most chief executives are very smart and tend to isolate themselves from their illegal dealings. In the US, Col. Oliver North took the fall for Reagans illegal diversion of arms to Nicaragua. Jonathan's case is even more complex, there is an agreement that Buhari would not go after Jonathan. That agreement was brokered by the National Peace commitee headed by Abdulsalami and Rev. Matthew Kuka before Jonathan agreed to concede defeat. If Buhari prosecutes Jonathan he will be reneging on that agreement. |
GettysBurg:You people are just throwing shi.t around hoping to stain every one with corruption stench. How can you compare the case of AIT, Obiagbena and that of Tinubu. Dopesi's excuse was that his company( AIT) did political campaign for PDP for N1.2 billion, meanwhile PDP denied knowledge of any such media campaign. We are yet to see the contract papers of said contract, terms of contract and signatories to the contract. Obiagbena on the other hand said he was paid over N1billion compensation for Boko Harams Bombings of thisdays offices and for seizures of newspapers by Nigerian army. Also we are yet to see the papers for the compensation and how they arrived at the said amount, that is if it is even the FG's duty to compensate private companies for personal tragedies. Now the one recieved by Vintage Newspapers was negotiated by NPAN for seizures of newspapers of members and was well documented. The money was received by NPAN and given to 10 members by the secretary of the organization. So what is their connection with Dasuki? It is now that the members are finding out that the money was from Dasuki and routed illegally through a private company. Having discovered this, some members have returned the money and punch has even suspended its membership of NPAN. So how is Tinubu connected. You think if Tinubu want to collect money from Santa Dasuki, he will collect just N10 million, when a small fry like Dokpesi is collecting billions. What an insult. |
copiescopy:And all these were happening under a government that has all the security and intelligence agencies under its control? If Jonathan has been half as efficient as Buhari in tackiling enemies of the state, we would not be where we are today. |
oshyno:My brother bone that tin. How do you know there is no water tight case against Dasuki and Kanu? Has Dasuki denied that he did not divert the $2.1 billion allocated to providing arms and armunitions to fight Boko Haram? Has any of the beneficiaries of Santa Dasuki denied receiving money from Dasuki? Has Kanu denied threatening and actually soliciting for arms to wage war on Nigeria? Ok, how water tight do you want the case to be? Allowing Dasuki leave the country would be the greatest mistake Buhari would do? Do you want Dasuki to join forces with external enermies and wage war against Nigeria? Maybe Kanu and Dasuki should join forces and war on Nigeria, afterall, Kanu has the zeal and Dasuki has the money and connections. Kanu can create his Biafra and Dasuki can have his caliphate. Treason should not be a bailable offense. What we should be concerned about is that the trial is fair and transparent and not denied of comfort and luxury to Dasuki and Kanu. |
donodion:I voted. The vote should have included terrorism too, it only stated fight against corruption. Terrorism and corruption are like siamese twins, they go hand in hand. I support Buhari's handling of both. The last administration was complicit on both. |
josh21:Yes it is mostly Igbos that is against this administration. The amount of hatred is proportional to the voting pattern of the last election, ie 95%. The enemies of this administration are the transformers; they transform from PDP to TAN (GEJ till 2019 crew), to IPOB and now terrorist (alleged) supporters. They say they are ready to die for Dasuki, el -zakzaky and Kanu. |
themanderon:So Buhari should resign because Dasuki and Kanu are being detained (illegally)? Are these the only Nigerians being detained in Nigeria illegally? Are you aware that millions of Nigerians have been detained illegally over the years without any charges brought against them? Just walk down to the police station nearest to you and you will see many ordinary Nigerians lanquishing in police cells without any reasons. Even under the Jonathan administration, there were many human rights violation so much so that the government was blacklisted by the US and Amnesty international for it. I am not justifying illegal detention, but the government sees these two men as a serious security threat to the corperate exisstence of Nigeria, so it has to do all within its powers to neutralize these threats. To me, treason should not be a bailable offense, as the consequences of their security threats could cause the death of millions of Nigerians. Governments around the world take treason very seriously. |
personal59:I think you should drop out of chemistry and get yourself admissioned into a theological school, you are disgracing the sciences and misinforming up coming young scientist. What you wrote up there is nonsense, the process of fermentation itself produces alcohol. There is nothing like non alcoholic fermentation. The process you describe is removing alcohol after fermentation. You only filtered the alcohol out using osmosis, you could have as well use distillation (multiple times), to reduce the alcoholic content of the fermented grape fruit mixture. You guys are just like making up excuses to support doctrines you subscribe to. There is no evidence in the bible that suggest that biblical wine makers has chemists that know how to remove alcohol from fermented grape juice (wine), but there is plenty to suggest that the word wine is almost always synonymous with drunkenness and intoxication, suggesting alcoholic content. |
ogasnow:Just like Muslims can be separated into moderate and fundamentalist (ISIS, Boko Haram, etc,) Muslims, Igbos can now be divided into moderate and fundamentalist Igbos. The common ideology of the Fundamentalists is hate and violence. |
tuniski:Asset declaration President Jonathan The issue of public asset declaration is a matter of personal principle. That is the way I see it, and I don’t give a damn about it, even if you criticise me from heaven. When I was the Vice President , that matter came up, and I told the former President (late Musa Yar’adua) let’s not start something that would make us play into the hands of people and create an anomalous situation in the country.”President Buhari I have declared four times. All of them were done in the Ministry of Justice. If those agencies have refused to release my asset declaration documents, they should be held responsible to answer questions why they are keeping those declaration. |
Donniefred:GEJ ke ? Did you listen to Gej's media chats? Ok, let me give you an assignment, listen to GEJ media chats and also listen to Buhari's chat, then compare and contrast their answers on the following issues; 1. Public declaration of asserts. 2. Chibok girls. 3. Corruption and fight against corruption. 4. Fight against insurgency You can then tell us who gave more competent answers. |
fleep:The way you respond shows you are a specialist in the medical sciences, while i am just a layman. Well thank you for taking the time and effort to educate us. However we tend to agree that the seeming difference in IQ between the races can be explained by the need for those in harsh environments to evolve physical, social and political structures to survive. What i am saying is that two black couples can give birth a baby with physically white features, like light skin, pointed nose, thin lips and even straight hair. A pure black couple can even birth an albino with blond hair and light brown eyes, meanwhile, it is near impossible for a white couple to birth a black skinned, flat nosed or kinky haired baby. |
fleep:What is an actual white person? I thought white and black refers to skin colour. There's no bone structure, jaws size and physiology not found among African tribes. The Somalis and Ethiopians have the most diverse gene pool in the planet, there you will find indigenous Africans with all the physical characteristics of the whites, like long pointed nose, small lips, light skin, light bone structure and long hair. Even me a black skinned African have long pointed nose and small lips - unusual for an indigenous Nigeria tribe. Meanwhile it is near impossible to find oyinbo with typical black features like flat nose, thick lips and kinky hair. This is because Oyinbos get their genes from us. As i said earlier, white race is not an evolutionary improvement, they developed socially and technologically better than us, because they had to learn to survive in harsh, hostile and austere environment. |
Although what Donald said is bitter, it is the truth. It is beyond stupid to steal money meant to develop your society and stack it in foreign countries to be used for the development of those countries. The problem of Africa is not looting of public funds per se, it is looting and taking the money out to already rich and developed countries. If money is looted and kept within the economy, it will provide liquidity to banks and help the economy. |
SESSOL:It is not the concern of IPOB? common, who are you trying to deceive? You can feel the ecstacy in their post at the rumour of a Boko Haram attack on Maiduguri. The way you guys are behaving, it seems you would celebrate more at maiduguri falling to Boko Haram than Kanu being released |
It is lack of education that makes you see the black man as a curse rather than a blessing to humanity. Let me give you some free education; First the Black Race are the original Homo Sapiens Sapiens, we are the template from which all other races are derived. When your ancestors left Africa and entered Europa, they encountered big, clumsy and stupid species of Humans, called Neanderthals. They quicky subdued the neanderthala and drove them into extinction. From there your ancestors went on the conquer the whole world; from Austrailia to Asia to the Americas. A black couple can give birth to an Oyinbo child, but an Oyinbo couple can never birth a black child. The difference between the races is social organization and climate. The Oyinbos needed to evolve social orgainzation to cope with their harsh climate and environment, hence the need to form bigger and more structured political units and be able to control and conquer their environment through studying and understanding their environment (sciences). We that stayed behind in Africa became complacent and lazy due to abundant food sources and clement climate. We did not need sophisticated political units and the sciences to survive. |
EternalTruths:Pardon my ignorance but we non Ibos and even lots of Igbos are oblivious of the "Ahiara and Aburi accord" ideology. The little i know of the Aburi accord signed between Gowon and Ojukwu was granting Ojukwu lead Eastern Nigeria Full Autonomy. That is seccession through the backdoor. Gowon realizing his mistake reneged on the agreement to keep the country united. No country i know of practices the kind of autonomy proposed by the Aburi Accord. Yes, we should fight for true federalism, where every section and community controls its resources and plot its future independent of the overbearing influence from the centre. The centre should be held together by the armed forces, common currency and CBN, common foreign affairs department , common passport and a common supreme and constitutional court. But these noise and distractions from biafrans is drowning real dialogue and debate on critical issues and playing into the hands of the Fulanis. |
Duru1:Please can you educate us on this Biafran Ideology? Provide me with a link so i can understand the Idology and proponents of this idelogy. Because most of us and even Igbos are confused what Biafra is all about. |
jcflex:My brother, biometric verification will only succeed in eliminating a tiny faction of these absentee workers, those that live too far from delta or do not have informants that notify them on whats going on in government. Most Absentee workers have a valid employment letter and are even expected to report to office once a while ( sometimes once in 3 - 6 months). I have a friend that his wife is an abentee worker with DESOPADEC, she earns up to N150,000/month and reports to office once every other month. I do not know about your friend, maybe he is simply a ghost worker. It will be difficult being employed in the Delta civil service with employment letter and not know your office. |
jcflex:I have relations living in port harcourt but earn salaries with Delta state government. The problem of absentee (not ghost) workers is huge, although you cant discard ghost (non existent) workers as well. If you carry out bio-metric verification, you will surprised that most of the workers will turn up. The civil service is so bloated that most of the absentee workers do not even have a desk. DESOPADEC is a typical example, if you go desopadec on days when every worker is expected to report to work, you will wonder how they are able to fit such huge number of worker into such a small building. The overbloated workforce is a legacy left by Ibori and his cousin. Problem of Ghost Worker is quite easy to elimininate, just carry out biometric verification and pay directly to bank accounts through e payment system. Absentee Worker is more complex, the Absentee worker has a valid employment letter, so sacking him wiill create legal problems not to talk of labour relation problems. Sacking or retiring all of them would require payment of compensation, gratuity and pension running into billions of naira. |
NavierStokes:You links states that production cost for Nigeria is $31.60 while that of UK is $52.5 During the 80s, crude hardly broke the $30 barrier, at on time it went as low as $8, so why were oil companies still in business? |
EternalTruths:Shut up and cover your head in shame. You reason like a primary school student. People are trying to educate you but are are hardened in your ignorance. The oil price was predicated on $38 per barrel and not your fabled $20. So you are the only wise person in Nigeria who sees mistakes in calculations of our projected oil revenue. |
EternalTruths:Are you guys (PDP) feigning ignorance or you are truly this ignorant? So common sense tells you that the federal government would pocket the whole 2.2 million barrels by 365days by $38 by #200. I refuse to believe that you are not aware of how the FG and Nigeria as a whole earn revenue from oil, but just in case i will educate you. The oil sold in the international market is not pocketed by the Federal government of Nigeria but shared between the oil exploiting companies and the federation using an agreed sharing formula (60:40) after production expenses had been deducted. Then the Federation's state which is 60% is then shared between the Federal Government, The 36 states and the 774 local government in the ration 54:24:22 (approximately). So this budget is the expected Federal Government expected share of our oil revenue, the states and local governments will also present their own budgets based on their own expedited share of our total earnings. I hope you are wiser now. |
Nigeria should not borrow? Are you joking or you are serious? Nigeria is expecting N820 billion naira from oil exports and a total revenue projection of N3.86 trillion. putting this in perspective, it means that if the government decides to share our expected earnings between all of us (170 million), each person would get N22,700 for the year. That is a paltry $110 per year. So how will the government give you light, roads, hospitals, schools, etc. We have not even mentioned salaries and allowances of our overbloated civil service, military and our ever greedy politicians. Even at the total budget of N6.08 trillion with borrowings, you are only entitled to a share of N35,700. so you see the government is under borrowing. |
coolitempa:God bless you a thousand fold. Nigeria is the only country i know where a stark illiterate in a specialist field criticizes expert opinions and actions. It is only in Nigeria you will find someone who had never kicked a ball in his life criticize the tactics of an accomplished coach. This article shows that Mr tonye barcanista knows nothing about economics. Although i also regard myself as an economic illiterate but i thank god i took ECN101 and ECN102 at the university, so i am very conversant with the kaynesian theory of economics. The main thrust of the theory is spending your way out of recession. To stimulate the economy, you would need to spend, and when you have low income, you borrow. That was how post second world war Europe was able to over come economic ruins and depression in the 50's, through massive borrowing through the Marshall plan, that was how the US was able to overcome the great depression of the 30's Now read the above to get some education on the above on Kaynesian economics; At the core of Keynesian economics is the idea that fiscal policy (government taxing and spending) should be used as a tool to control an economy.I believe the government is not even borrowing enough, a N6 trillion budget (barely 30 billion dollars) would not stimulate the economy. The problem of Nigeria is not debt per se, it it lack of economic stimulation via production and almighty corruption. If borrowed money is put into productive ventures paying back the debts would not be a problem. |
KingEbukasBlog:Gosh, you christians are so predictable. I delibrately left out Islam to lure you into using it to justify christian morality and you fell for it, hook, line and sinker. Islam and Judiasm stem from the same violent religion - Judaism. Both also were created in and by violence, and it was violence that sustained them for centuries. Infact, i can authoritatively tell you that Islam itself is a creation of the christians (catholic church) and hence they share many similarities both in doctines, rituals and philosophy. The only difference is time, Islam is 600 years behind christianity. Go back in time 600 years and you will see similarities between present day Islam and medieval Europe christianity. The punishmnet for heresy( disagreement with church doctrines) in medieval christian was death by burning. That was the morality of christianity at that time. Below is a pictorial representation of christian morality in 1528

stokfrick:If it is so easy to immediately diversify the economy using other resources to generate funds to strenghten our currency, why had previous government including the last one with record revenues from oil receipts not been able to do so for over 40 years? Under the present structure the Nigerian state is structured only to collect rent on oil. We need to restructure the federation entirely for it to be able to have a diversified economy. We urgently need to be weaned of oil. In other News; Star Wars: The Force Awakens has smashed the record for the biggest box office debut weekend globally (three days), with ticket sales of $529m (£355m). That is more that the monthly oil receipts the Federal Government of Nigeria collect as oil rents in a month presently (considering we only collect 60% of oil sales after deductions of production expenses by NNPC and oil companies). |
Bevista:I am also not an economist, so i am a bit confused about the whole forex policy. First, we have to admit that the naira had never been left to market forces, it has always been propped up by the CBN for political expediency. Under previous governments, the CBN had enough dollars to artificially prop up the naira due to crude selling at record prices, the CBN even permitted oil companies to sell dollars in the open market. But as we are aware the Jonathan administration did not make any savings and he also spent a large chunk of previous savings ( both foreign reserves and excess crude account), with oil prices now in the $30's. There is just no dollars to prop up the naira. The only option left is to either to bow to market forces or restrict the demand for dollars. Now, that is putting Nigeria's economy between the devil and the deep blue sea, how can we allow the naira to float on the open market when we have nothing to stop or control it. We import over 90% of what we consume including fuel, and we export only one control commodity - crude oil, which is presently just above $30 per barrel. If allowed to float, where will it stop?, N400 to the dollar, N500 or even N1,000? It is anybody's guess. On the other hand, controlling the naira would hurt importers and stifle business, leading to further economic problems. If only we start producing instead of only consuming, then things would be more manageable. |
plaetton:Well done plaetton, you put it brilliantly. I had always wondered why predominantly Christian societies are usually the most morally bankrupt and corrupt places on earth, and you just answered the question - Christianity is the most appealing religion to bad people and the scum of society. No wonder emperor constantine found it appealing and forced in on the Roman empire. Africa before the advent of Christianity had strict set of moral values, but after Christianity those values were destroyed with the doctrine of anything goes and all sins forgiven as long as you believe in Christ , no punishment, no rebuke and no karma. I still say it, a society that is predominantly Christian would be stuck in the dark ages. This can be attested to by examining the most corrupt free countries in the world. @OP, my advice to you is discover yourself and live your life as you deemed fit (within legal boundaries of course), you owe no body, no pastor or even God your life. Learn to love and be loved. Live by the principles of Buddha with states; “No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path.” "The Way is not in the sky; the Way is in the heart.” |
azzima:Good observation. No northerner or Dasuki's kinsman has come out to support Dasuki's alleged looting of the treasury. If Dasuki was from the eastern part of the Niger, you would have been hearing witch hunt, Buhari's personal vendetta, hatred for the east and the most absurd of all excuses, is he the only one that stole? What of OBJ, Tinubu, Gowon and even Tara Balewa? Prosecute all past looters before you can touch anyone from the east. Imagine, Okonjo Iweala is asked to come and explain her role in the sharing of our common treasury, and her people are already screaming "witch hunting", what will they say if she is arrested? |
what crime has a man whose followers clashed with the army last year, and have 30 of his members and three sons killed committed?Last year's clash with the army has no relation with this one, unless you want insinuate that the blocking of passage of the COAS was pre meditated. what crime has a man whose followers blocked a highway and got shot by soldiers committed? You have jobless youths brandishing sticks, stores and machetes blocking a major highway and you see no crime? What will happen if another group of youths insist on passing? see what happened when the army insists on passing. what crime has a man whose house was attacked, after the army chief's convoy had passed committed?I agree that the army should not have come back to attack zakzaky's house and worship centre. After the COAS forcefully gained passage, any other crime should have been taken over by the police. He and his followers should have been prosecuted for disturbing the peace of the state and constituting a nuisance. i think if anyone deserved prosecution it is Mr. El Rufai himself. and will those who killed civilians go scot-free? will they be made to face justice?Persecute el rufai for what? Was it el rufai that ordered the Shiites to block the road, or it was him that ordered the shootings? There is no where in the world that a bunch of religious thugs would threaten an army chief with stones, sticks and machetes and they would go Scot free. The COAS would not have worth his rank if he backed down and allow thugs to intimidate him. How will he earn respect of his army if ordinary thugs could intimidate him. |
crossover:The keyword here is retired. If he was still Chief of Air Staff and Chief of Defense Staff, and was stoned by students, it is only a miracle that would save them from being massacred. Remember a service chief moves around with more than 30 fully armed battle ready soldiers at any point in time. The truth is that no where in the world would a serving service chief be stoned and his troops will not respond. |
