Metuh can also say he spent 400million on organizing multina dancehall abi?

APCsh1t
But Metuh did not say he spent 400 million organizing anything. Mrs. Ibim Semenitari has documents, invoices and receipts showing how the N85million was spent. Even though the amount is exhorbitant, it is covered. According to the Nigerian Federation, what a state decide to spend its money on is its own business, as long as it is legally covered.

Now, ask Metuh to show documents on how he spent N400 million of arms money meant to fight boko Haram. The money allegedly stolen by Metuh is Federal Money and not state money, so naturally the federal govenment would want to recover its stolen money.

What about the power sector reforms money that OBJ ate, what about the sales of govt firms, what about the third term money splash to Senators, is Buhari and his EFCC ignorant of that or were they not born then?
How does OBJ concern the matter at hand? are you saying because you suspect that OBJ ate power sector reform money, no body should ever be prosecuted in Nigeria again for corruption? So every public officer can steal all monies allocated to his/her department and site OBJ's power reform as defense.

Also a murderer can site Bola Ige, Harry Marshall, Funsho Williams and all people murdered during OBJ's regime as defense for committing murder. If previous murderers were not prosecuted, why should they prosecute anybody?

On a flip side I just love d way buhari is looking at sectors and trying to stamp out corruption. Every oga at the top wud be apprehensive as to if buhari will beam his search light on them.

What I hate with a passion is how EFCC is going about the whole stuff. There is too much media propaganda. They don't seem to do thorough investigation. If not we will be by now be seeing people on handcuffs and sweating in jail.
So how do you propose EFCC goes about the whole stuff? Maybe, EFCC should make a law that bars reporters from reporting on its activities. If someone (some junior or an accounting officer) mentions someone (probably the Oga of a ministry) of being responsible for diverting of public funds into other accounts, are you saying EFCC should take the said Oga to court without questioning him or taking his statements?
I would like to have your own idea of how a proper investigation should be carried out.

Who said it is only a state government that can send petitions. What i said is that the said petitioner in this case (Integrity Group) has no locus standi (as my learned friends to say) to send any petition. The petitioner is not a River's State indigene, it is most likely not a legal entity. Why did mr. livingstone Wichie not send the petition with his name as a concerned river's indigene? why send it under a fictitious organization?

I also said the petition was sent without any evidence attached. EFCC cannot start investigations without any documents supporting the allegations. . A whistle blower must blow his whistle with supporting evidence, else the EFCC will make a fool of themselves in court. No court will convict a person based on mere allegations without supporting documents. These documents cannot be in possession of Integrity group, since they are state property, it is the River's state government that can provide the documents that can be used to support these allegations. That is why i am curious as to why Wike is hiding such documents that can easily incrimate Amaechi.
PoliticsRe: Evidence Magu, EFCC Chairman Lied On ‘No Petition Against APC Members-Thewhistle by wirinet(m): 2:12pm On Jan 09, 2016
Is this is the petition that PDP/ TAN/IPOB want to hang Amaechi with, then these people are dumber than i initially suspected. First, who and what is integrity group? Are they a registered Non Governmental Orgainization? Who are the members and board of trustees? Where is their office address or even web address? A google search reveals nothing of their web presence.

You want EFCC to waste resources pursuing baseless allegations from a faceless orgainzation. If there are such weighty allegations against Amaechi, it is not a ficticious "Integrity Group" that would have fact and evidence to prosecute Amaechi, it would be the state government. The Riverstate Government has all these documents pertaining to all transactions of previous governments, so it would be easy nailing Amaechi with such documents. If the petition was coming from rivers state government with documented evidence, i am sure the EFCC will have no chioce but to investigate. But a petition by a faceless (probably illegal) non governmental organization without any evidence to back up their allegations is a non starter.

Mr. Livinstone Wechie might even be committing perjury, he swore an affidavit in court that he is the Media/publicity director of Integrity Group, which he claimed is a non governmental organization. He did not provide any evidence of the existence of such an NGO in Nigeria, no registration number, no contact address, nothing, now if it was discovered that no such non governmental organization is registered with CAC, that is a criminal offence.

ONSA paid both NPAN and NGE. Its either they both keep the money or they both refund the money. Simple.
But some members of NPAN have returned the compensation money once they discovered that Nduka collected the money from Dasuki. If there is evidence that the donations made by FG to NGE was from money earmarked for arms purchase, they also have a moral obligation to return same. But so far, there is no direct connection between Dasuki and NGE. The donation was pledged and paid by Labaran Maku, It behoves on labaran to explain where he got the money.

The Nation Newspaper along with other Newspaper were given some money by the FG and was collected by Nduka Obaigbena on behalf of NPAN. The money was compensation for the attack of the Military on Newspaper Establishments. I had thought the Sun Newspaper was also compensated for the Boko Haram attack (even though the damage done on the Sun Newspaper was nothing compared to that of Thisday). The government assisted in the MTN, Airtel Mast restoration. At least I'm aware that the military engineers together with those of MTN and armed soldiers (for security) went together to repair some masts back then. Jonathan gave the Chibok girl's family financial assistance, among other things.
You are still throwing in a red herring in order to Justify Jonathan's administration's sharing of arms money meant to fight Boko Haram. Yes, Nduka Obiagbena collected N120,000,000 on behalf of NPAN to compensate newspaper houses that had their newspapers siezed and destroyed by the army. It is not even this payment that people are calling Nduka a thief, even though the money was paid through questionable means and shouded in secrecy. It is ethically and morally wrong for compensation monies for NPAN members to be paid through a proxy company of the chairman. General Hydocarbon ltd is not even a member of NPAN, so why was the money not paid directly into NPAN's accounts? Most NPAN members were not even aware of how the money was paid and that the money was from money meant for arms purchase. Now that the lid has been blown off and the questionable way Nduka collected the N120 million on their behalf, a lot of them has returned the money, punch has even suspended its membership of NPAN.
Dasukigate: PUNCH newspaper withdraws from NPAN
Punch Nigeria Limited, publishers of the PUNCH titles, has suspended its membership of the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria, NPAN.

The company communicated the decision to the NPAN in a letter dated Thursday, December 17 and signed by its chairman, Wale Aboderin.

“After a careful review of recent, and still unfolding, developments, Punch Nigeria Limited is suspending its membership of the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria until further notice. This suspension takes effect immediately

“The public will recall the criminal charges levelled against a former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, and several other alleged accomplices.

“These charges border on the diversion of public funds, totalling $2.1 billion, allocated for the purchase of arms to prosecute the war against terrorism.

“The revelations indicate that the sum of N120 million was disbursed in murky circumstances to some member-companies of NPAN, ostensibly as compensation for the losses they incurred in June 2014 when armed soldiers seized newspapers and newspaper distribution vans.

“The source of this money and the manner of its receipt, allegedly through a company called General Hydrocarbons, which is unknown to NPAN, have raised public concerns about the integrity of the press in Nigeria.

Dasukigate: As 4 Newspapers Deny Receiving Funds From Obaigbena, NPAN Responds
SAN FRANCISCO, December 12, (THEWILL) – With at least four newspaper companies refuting claims that they received N10 million naira each from the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki through Mr. Nduka Obaigbena, the Chairman of ThisDay, the Newspapers Proprietors of Nigeria (NPAN) Saturday issued a statement on the development.

Obaigbena, who also doubles as President of NPAN, while defending the receipt of N670 million from the former NSA, had in a letter to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which is investigating how cash meant for arms was recklessly disbursed, listed at least 14 newspapers that shared N120 million of the sum as compensation for the military’s seizure of newspapers and disruption of circulation.

Obaigbena said the remainder N550 million was meant for ThisDay following the bombing of its Abuja and Kaduna offices by the Boko Haram in 2012.

The Tribune, New Telegraph, Peoples Daily and Daily Independent Friday in separate statements denied receiving any payments.
If most members of NPAN are appalled by the way Nduka Obiagbena handle the whole NPAN compensation saga, you a non party to the whole affair is praising Nduka.
Thisday is entitled to that money. If the UN could be compensated by rebuilding their bombed building why shouldn't Thisday be compensated as well? So don't be pained that Thisday got that money just the same way you are not pained that NGE got theirs. And if Nduka is told to refund the money, then Femi Adesina should also be told to refund his as well.
Thisday is not entitled to any money and definitely not entitled to N530 million of our collective wealth. Even though government's promise to rebuild the UN was seriously criticized by Nigerian, it was not done under questionable circumstances. Ban Ki Moon did not receive monies meant to procure arms from private third party companies. The UN building contract went through the FEC and through appropriate channels.

FG to rebuild bombed UN building with N5.2bn
Abuja — The Federal Executive Council, FEC, chaired by the Vice President Namadi Sambo, yesterday, approved contracts worth N199.19 billion in various sectors of the economy.

Of this amount, road construction and rehabilitation across different geo-political zones of the country took the lion share of N176.13 billion while the construction of terminal building as well as control tower at the Yenagoa airport was approved at the cost of N13.91 billion while the reconstruction of the bombed United Nations Building in Abuja was approved for N5.2 billion.
http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/11/fg-to-rebuild-bombed-un-building-with-n5-2bn/
The N530 million collected by Nduka was pure theft, it was not budgeted for, it did not pass through any litigation or adminstrative processs, it was was dashed to him. The office building in Kaduna housed two other newspaper houses - The Sun, ThisDay and The Moment newspapers, only Thisday collected "compensation"

You're ignorant. Its very obvious that you are ignorant. That money wss not meant for Thisday Newspaper alone, the Sun Newspaper and the Nation Newspaper were also in the picture and they got their cuts. The MTN and other network mast were rebuilt with the assistance of the government. As regards the compensation for those who lost their loved ones and property, the government did provide them some form of assistance even though I admit a lot still need to be done in that regard.

Don't be biased Mr Man. How can you endorse the govt giving money to NGE and then condemn that of NPAN? They are both non-profit associations. May God cure you of your beclouded sense of reasoning.
You are a liar and a thief, it is only a thief that can lie bold face and distort facts.
Where did you get the lie that Sun Newspaper was compensated by Dasuki for the bombing of their office by Book Harm? What concern's the nation newspapers with compensation for boko Haram bombings, was the nation's office also bombed? Provide evidence that government assisted MTN and other networks with rebuilding of their masts destroyed by boko Haram. How many people did Jonathan or Dasuki compensate for property and loved ones ? provide evidence and names.

Liar and thief, who is taking about NPAN, we are talking about the N550 million collect by fraudulent means from Dasuki by Obiagbena. Money he explained away as compensation for boko Haram's bombings of his offices.

Here is what Nduka obiagbena wrote in his explanation to EFCC ;
Contents of letter
The letter addressed to the acting Executive Chairman of the EFCC reads:
“At your request, we provide the following clarifications on payments of N670,000,000 received by GENERAL HYDROCARBONS LTD on behalf of THISDAY NEWSPAPERS GROUP (N550,000,000) and THE NEWSPAPERS PROPRIETORS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (NPAN), for member newspapers ( N120,000,000) from The Federal Government of Nigeria through the Office of The National Security Adviser ( ONSA) between 2014 and 2015. I have set out the areas of possible questions and concerns and provided answers below:
“Why GENERAL HYDROCARBONS LTD? General Hydrocarbons Ltd was set up as the power supply, diesel and fuel logistics arm of the THISDAY NEWSPAPERS GROUP, servicing the power and fuel logistics requirements of the group. There are other business units that service supplies and imports such as newsprint, ink, chemicals and consumables, machinery, etc. It is standard practice within large media groups to have business units meeting special logistics, infrastructural and supply needs.
“Why was the payment made to General Hydrocarbons Ltd and not to THISDAY directly? First, President Goodluck Jonathan made it clear at the beginning that he did not want to create a precedent by paying THISDAY compensation given we had several victims of Boko Haram bombings around the country. Once payment was approved for the reconstruction of the UN Buildings in Abuja, that continued refusal or reluctance to pay us became tenuous as we were the next institution to be so bombed after the UN and Police Headquarters buildings which were then being reconstructed by the Federal Government. So when the ONSA said that they had approval to pay us, but would rather not set a precedent by paying THISDAY directly, we nominated a member company of the THISDAY Newspapers Group, called General Hydrocarbons Ltd., to receive the payments on behalf of the group of companies, given that the assets of General Hydrocarbons Ltd – mainly generators – were also destroyed in the bombings
.

The money was paid to obiagbena not even through thisday newspapers but through another of obiagbena's companies General Hydrocarbons ltd. So how do you reconcile the two? Thisday newspapers, a legal entity's office was bombed and they asked to be compensated, but a different legal entity, General Hydrocarbons ltd was paid compensation instead. How was the compensation arrived at? where is the valuation of damages?

I am sure you work for obiagbena or somehow you benefited from the largesse. your levellevel of support for criminality cannot be just on tribal basis.

Point of correction, Nduka received the money on behalf of NPAN, not Thisday. NPAN is an association for Newspaper Establishments

Who said it was done in secret? If you were a member of NPAN, you would have known about the money given to Nduka Obaigbena

It is the government's responsibility to protect it's citizens. Thus when there's a disaster, the government has a responsibility to respond. That's why they opt to pay the bills of the wounded in a bomb blast. That's why they rebuild markets, schools, mosques, churches after it has been razed down by miscreants. The bomb incident in Thisday and Suns Newspaper was perpetuated by Boko Haram because the terrorists felt threatened by the patriotic press. Thus it's not out of place for the govt to help the bombed Newspaper establishments to rebuild.

And if I may ask, since when did the FG become mortgaging firm to the NGE? Wetin concern govt and the NGE building?

Your post reeks so much of bias. Let's learn to be objective in our analysis.

God bless Nigeria
i am highly disappointed at your submission. If Nduka Obiagbena and his company Thisday was paid 630 million naira as compensation for bombing of 2 of their offices by Boko Haram, how much compensation was paid to Sun Newspapers that suffered similar bombings? How much compensation was paid to MTN and Etisalat that most of their masts in Maiduguri and Bornu destroyed by Boko Haram? How much compensation was paid by Dasuki to thousands of homes destroyed and burnt by Boko Haram? What about compensation for the tens of thousands of people killed by Boko Haram? Why was it only Nduka Obiagbena that deserved to be compensated by Jonathan?

The Issue of FGN becoming a morgage firm to NGE does not even arise or make sense. NGE organized a fund raising dinner to raise N850 million to build their secretariat, the FG, state governments, Private organizations and the public were invited. The FG made a donation of N50 million, various state governments made undisclosed donations, wealthy individuals donated, so how is FG a morgage firm? FG and its agencies make donations to other non governmental organizations all the time, they have even made numerous donations to other organizations like the Nigerian Labour Congress, Nigerian Bar Association, etc, so there is nothing extraordinary about making donations to NGE. The donations was made through the right channel - The Minister of Information.

Are you now insinuating that all donations made by FG and its agencies are illegal?

You are just clutching straws in you attempt to justify Dasuki and Jonathan. Nobody has raised the issue of security votes. Security votes are contingency fund to be used by a chief executive for contingencies without having to seek approvals from national or state assemblies. That it is being abused is a subject for another day. What we are discussing here is the looting and diverting of monies budgeted for specific purposes.

contingency funds are available to all chief executive around the world - private or public. What you are implying is to investigate all security votes of all chief executives that have ever held office in the history of Nigeria, which is impractical and illegal. Our laws prohibits looking into security votes.
You should be advocating for a change in the laws governing security votes to make it more accountable and transparent instead of using it as an excuse to exonerated those that looted our treasury.

We are not told why Dasuki was using money ment to procure arms to do political campaign for PDP, we are not even privy to the contract details or terms of contract. Even PDP denies knownlegde of such contract.
Meanwhile, the N50 million was paid to Nigerian Guild of Editors as donation towards the building of their secretariat. The Nigerian guild of editors consists of many editors, is Nduka and PDP saying that all dues, money and donations made to NGE goes into the pocket of the chairman? Is NGE a property of Adeshina?

PDP are just throwings dirt around hoping to stain everyone to justify their filthiness. Even if as they erroneously imply that Adesina stole from Dasuki, is that an excuse that they would use in court to exonorate Dasuki, Dokpesi, Nduka himself and all other PDP members who collected money for no justifiable reason?

I thought pmb brought change in his pocket, didn't know derz no difference btw apc and pdp... we the common men fight ourselves and that's d main reason impunity still thrives @ d top
But PDP are adverse to change, they prefer the old ways of doing things. Maybe Buhari do not want to alienate PDP/TAN/IPOB too much my retaining some ot the things they love about Jonathan.

The irony of the whole situation is that the people that voted change are not complaining, it is the people that voted against change that are now the main proponent of change.
PoliticsRe: After War: Why Are Southeastern Cities Averagely Finer Than Southwestern Cities? by wirinet(m): 2:15pm On Jan 06, 2016
As i said, cities after a major war are usually rebuild from scratch and tend to be more modern than old cities that had never suffered any devastation. Ibadan and Oshogbo are ancient cities, you do not expect them to have more modern structures than Owerri that was flattened during the war. If actual reconstruction was done by the government, Owerri should have had more modern structures than most cities in Nigeria (outside Abuja).

Below are Pictures of Osaka, Japan immediately after WW2 and what it looks like today

Soldiers Stop Oshiomhole, Amaechi from Venturing into Ekiti
Rivers governor drives to Lagos from Ondo, military denies detaining him •APC, Atiku, Tinubu protest as PDP applauds move •IG deploys AIG, 4 CPs for tomorrow’s election

Our Correspondents
The federal government displayed its fangs Thursday when in a commando-style operation, soldiers and other security agencies of the federal government prevented Governors Adams Oshiomhole (Edo) and Chibuike Amaechi (Rivers) from travelling to Ekiti State.

Amaechi, who had landed in Akure, the Ondo State capital, in a private airplane, had proceeded by road to Ado-Akiti, the capital of Ekiti State, but was stopped and prevented from entering the state at Iju, a border town in Ondo.

After waiting at the border town without being granted permission to enter Ekiti, Amaechi’s motorcade was compelled to depart Ondo State for Lagos yesterday by road, as his aircraft was prevented from flying out of Akure.

In the case of Oshiomhole, his chartered helicopter was grounded at Benin Airport, while the Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, whom the All Progressives Congress (APC) claimed was also prevented from departing from the Aminu Kano International Airport for Akure, was never even scheduled to travel.

The same reason german cities are finer than most european cities, Tokyo is finer than most US cities. These cities were re-built after being completely destroyed by war, the new cities were rebuilt using newer designs, technology and materials.

New cities tend to be finer and older cities, i.e Dubai is finer than Rome, Abuja is finer than Lagos.
PoliticsRe: FFK Admits He Received Funds From Private Individuals And Companies by wirinet(m): 1:22pm On Jan 06, 2016
Such moneys were transferred into my account
by the Director of Finance of the Presidential
Campaign Organisation and that account was
SPECIFICALLY set up for the purpose of running
the publicity and media aspect of the campaign
for the whole country and my Directorate.
Why should moneys meant for Jonathan/Sambo Campaign organisation be paid into your personal account? Can't the monies paid for running of the office and campaigns be paid directly from the organization's accounts?

These private individuals and companies paid
their contributions into a designated account
which was provided and controlled by the
Director of Finance and from there she
transferred it to the accounts of the various
Directors and various individuals that were
running for public office that the PCO supported.
This is a strange practice, money donated to the organization is distributed into private accounts. If the organization is being run from private accounts, why not ask the donors to pay directly into private accounts instead of asking them to pay into the organizations accounts first and then transfer in into private accounts. No organization is run that way.

As Director of Media and Publicity of the
Jonathan/Sambo Campaign organisation I
received money on behalf of the Directorate of
Media and Publicity which I headed from private
individuals and companies during the election
campaigns but these were not public funds but
rather private contributions specifically for the
Presidential and other campaigns.
Is this not a contradiction of the quote above? In one paragraph you said monies for the organization was received and controlled by the director of finanance and in the next paragraph, you said you receive money on behalf of your directorate from private individuals and organizations .

Please re-write the response and correct the contradictions.

That is hypocrisy at it highest order. Why return a money with which you were compensated for unlawfully seizing you newspaper. I think something is wrong somewhere. Some people want to call a dog a bad name ti hang it. Gently oooo mr. president Nigeria belongs to everyone and I say again beware of people around you who keep doing stuffs like this ti pretend they are for you ooooo. Hummmmmm make Dem no show you 2016 ( modernised) politics. As u still dey use 1983,style.
Which hypocrisy? Is it Dasuki's job to compensate newspapers? and with money meant to buy weapons to fight Boko Haram? Do you know the number of people various agencies of Government are owning compensation already awarded by the courts? The Nigerian Police are owning Billions of Naira in compensation for numerous illegal arrests and murders. Even NDLEA are yet to pay Baba Suwe N25 million naira won at the courts. Why did'nt Dasuki pay all of them?
Christianity EtcRe: Atheists, We Need To Discuss These Important Topics!! NOW!! by wirinet(m): 2:58pm On Jan 03, 2016
JackBizzle:
Hello, everyone!

I hope you enjoyed your christimas celebrations. I have had a great year and I'm so inspired for this coming next year. The point of this thread is to get atheists to join in and discuss these issues.

1) WITH THIS LAST ELECTION, MORE AND MORE PEOPLE ARE QUESTIONING RELIGION- WHAT CAUSED IT?
During the fuel scarcity, one christian blasted another christian who wanted to go to church on sunday morning- "see this goat! You want to pray for fuel when we dont have fuel and Oando petrol station just opened this morning?" grin grin
More and more people are questioning religion because we have entered an age of enlightenment, people are begining to question age long myths and fables. It has nothing to do with elections. In fact politics and religion are like saimese twins, a control mechanism to control the masses. Throughout history priests have partnered with politicians and kings to subdugate the masses.

2) WOULD YOU JOIN AN ATHEIST FORUM IF THERE WAS ONE JUST LIKE NAIRALAND BUT JUST FOR NIGERIAN ATHEISM?
We could use such forums to give advice to young atheists and also help each other. On reddit, an atheist got a job from atheism subreddit and it got me thinking how helpful an atheist forum could be. We could also advice Nigerian youths not to brandish their disbelief openly....
Capital No! The world is a much more interesting place with varied peoples and opinions coming together and living in peace and harmony. You will accept that we all can not think the same way. We all have lots to learn from each other.

3) WHY ARE NAIRALAND MODS ALWAYS BIASED AND WHY DO THEY LOVE SENSELESS RELIGIOUS POSTS?
Post a sensible thread on the religion section and you will be ignored hard like a spare tyre on a good car. Post a thread about spiritual se.x or prophecies that will never happen and you will make the front page fast!
Traffic! Traffic! traffic! Sensational topics bring in traffic and hence money.

4) HOW ARE YOU GONNA AVOID CHURCH MARRIAGE IN NIGERIA, YOU DIRTY INFIDEL? grin
Smart atheist, explain how you are going to escape this one when it is time for you to get married? Do you really think it would be easy to find an atheist partner in nigeria? Do you think society does not expect a religious wedding?
Compromise! I am not advocate of segregation. People find love in unexpected places. Marrying from the same faith (or lack of) does not guarantee a successful marriage. The divorce rate of couple between the same faith and in fact the same church is not different from the average. Daddy G.Os and Mummy G.O divorce the same way ordinary people divorce.

The rule of law is the rule of law. It holds that everyone is equal before the law irrespective of his position and the power he wields in the society. It grants the courts the power to decide what happens to a person on trial and its decision must be respected. I don't understand the Prof is talking about.
It's dangerous when the executive selects what court orders to obey and all those supporting this impunity should think twice. It's Kanu and Dasuki today, tomorrow it may be any of us.
It is not only Kanu and Dasuki today, there are thousands of ordinary Nigerians who are langushing in prison cells across the country for no justifiable reason. If you are a Human Rights advacate fighting unlawful detention of citizens by the police, EFCC, DSS, etc, i will understand, but i am at loss why you are only concerned about Dasuki, Kanu and maybe El- ZakZaky.

In a statement yesterday, the organisation explained why it took the decision.
