How can writing a letter accusing the president be termed treason? Incitement - yes, libel - yes, but treason is stretching the issue too far. In that case every that has made allegations against president Jonathan has committed treason. If so why is OBJ walking free? Is it only accusations against the president that can be termed treason? what about wild allegations against a sitting governor? is it treason also? |
passion007: Wirinet,I do not favour the creation of additional states in Nigeria, in fact i am an advocate of merging of states. The resources we are using on maintaining governments structures in all the states leaves little for infrastructural development. Have you ever wondered why most infrastructural developments in nigeria was done when we had less states and under military regimes? It was because we were not spending so much on maintaining the vanities of so many public officials. |
passion007: Brother,Dear Brother Why don't the proposed areas that will constitute Adaba State turn these Viabilities into realities before they start making their demand to be made a state. There is no state in Nigeria without Agricultural, Educational and economic viability. The Main Problem is converting these vaibilities into realities instead of being liabilities. As long as states recieve the sweet milk of free oil money from Abuja, they would always be dependent of the free money for survival. Weaning states from oil money would be as difficult and painful as weaning a baby from its mothers milk. Nigeria's coperate existence is dependent on oil money. In fact everything in Nigeria is all about how to share the Niger Delta oil. From Rotational Presidency, to demand for states to all cries of marginalization. All is a ploy to get more oil money from Abuja. |
passion007: Your responses are stunted by your own emotions. I have taken time to show that Adada is a viable option, the surest bet. The area is politically and geoculturally homogenous, and has the approval of Enugu, Ebonyi states, and the tacit approval of Anambra. You are the one that is controlled by emotions rather than reason, even your moniker confirms it. Political and geocultural homegenity is not the main criteria for a viable state in the modern era, if so then the US would be the most unviable nation in the world. Economic viabily is the most important criteria for a successful state in a globalized world. Can you tell me what make Adaba State Viable. All the present south east states would crumble the minute they stop receiving oil stipends from Abuja. What is the vaibility of the present Enugu State? How much is Enugu able to generate presently? Can it pay salaries of ordinary teachers? not to talk of the whole civil service. All these shouts of "we demand more states" is only a way to get more oil money from Abuja to be shared by politicians and their cronies. The minute oil money stops flowing from the Niger Delta, the cry then would then be to merge the states into regions. I am sure by then Nigerian state would not be able to cater for more than 10 states. |
I wish Muslims would be this vocal in condemning atrocities by Muslims in the name of Islam, like killing of innocent children and oppressing of women. I have not seen muslims shout human rights violation, when a muslim government sentences a woman to death for marrying a christian. Muslims seems to enjoy human rights violations against others but cry blue murder when their own rights are affected. Islam seem to breed violence and terrorism and i do not blame China for restricting its practice and propagation. |
charlos14: Could anyone explain the advantages of Nigeria having more states? The politicians and their cronies will have a higher share of the national cake. More states means more Governors, more Legislators, more commissioners, more special assistants, more special assistants to special assistants, more board chairmen, more security votes, more private jets, In fact more of everything. At the moment Nigeria is spending more that 70% of all revenue on recurrent expenditure, by the time we have 22 more states, we would be spending 150% of our earnings on reccurent expenditure. |
obi4eze: Importation has to do with foreign exchange and that's where CBN comes in.So because importation of IVDs require foreign exchange means CBN should regulate IVDS? In that case CBN should also determine who regulates petroleum products, rice, flour, cars, drugs and every other product imported into Nigeria and forget their primary responsibility of regulating fiscal and monetary policies. |
Demdem: Don't get it. What's cbn business in this brouhaha?I also do not get it, what is the business of CBN in the regulation of IVD and other medical equipments imported into the country? Are now performing the duties of the Ministry of Health, SON, NAFDAC and other regulatory agencies? |
iam_ord: I must say africa is loosing its place as the time goes by.. You blame it on the attitude of the black people..u see one reason why we don't move forward is because we are afraid of change.. All races have passed through what we r going through.. Some modified and threw out the ones that r not needed so as to customize the tradition for this generation and beyond.. But we over here.. Just like it that way .. Africa has lost its place in time..this time a lot of family members see the bride price as a chance to amass wealth.. And can kill for that.. A lot of irregularities go unchecked..and now the irregularities have become Part of the present tradition.. This is because black leaders and majority of the people are not intelligent enough to understand that there has to be reforms in all sectors of culture and traditions. to make it conform with present day .we lack vision..and very soon.. All history will be wiped out cos we don't learnYou are so wrong in so many aspects that i do not know where to start. You are so ignorant that it is beyond belief. First Africa can never lose its place in time because africa till eternity will remain the food and rescource basket of the world. Obviously you are from a tribe that see's the girl child as an investment and sell their daughters to the highest bidder. We the Itsekiris do not sell our daughters, our bride price from time Immemorial is 7k (seven kobo). Once that bride price has been met, the bride is yours, however you are free to add any other thing you like to the 7K. So if you want are about to marry an Itsekiri, insist you are only obliged to pay 7K. The money is more symbolic than commerce. The main problem with africa is exactly the opposite of what the OP is advocating. We have been so culturally, socially and religiously subsumed by our colonizers and conquerors that we have lost our identity. We now think, talk and act like our colonizers. We are even ready to change our physical appearance to resemble our colonizer. No people can develop on borrowed culture. The Indians, Chinese and Japanese hold tenaciously to their culture and traditions despite suffering colonization also and have been able to develop. Obviously you and the OP are suffering from a cronic case of colonial mentality. |
Although i have never been a fan of the corruption tolerating PDP, i have always also maintained that the AC/APC is a party that is disconnected from the ordinary Nigerian. They behave as if the poor masses are not relevant and only the elites and their party leaders matter to them. That is why i get annoyed when they brand themselves Progressives. A progressive party that charge exhobibant school fees (i thought free education was the hallmark of progressives), a progressive party that builds a two bedroom apartment and sells it for N5,000,000 each. A progressive that builds roads and bridges and toll it. APC need to ask Jakande and former UPN chieftains what progressive means. What happened in Ekiti is a good Omen to Nigeria, it is brought APC from their high horse. When people talk about APC being developmental Infrastructurally, i ask how many infrastructure has APC build that favours the masses. All we hear of are elitists projects that has no bearing on the poor masses. I wish PDP present a credible candidiate to repeat the Ekiti experience in Lagos. |
Nigeria is known for reasoning with their hearts instead of their brains. That is why tribalism, nepotism and religious intolerance in rife in the country. So because Suarez is a brilliant player means he can get away with anything on the pitch? Or because suarez scored two goals against the England team, he should get away with bitting opponents in front of billions of people world wide? I think the FIFA ban is too light. There is not other sport on earth where a player will bite opponents repeatdly (three times) and he will not receive a life ban, not even combat sports like Judo, Karate or takwando. Tyson only bit an opponent once and he received 2 year ban. Even Rugby or the more physical American footbal will not condone biting. Suarez should be made to undergo psychological evaluation before he is allowed back into the game or alternatively he should be mandated to wear a mouth guard to protect opponents. |
Another question for Jonathan 's paid lapdogs and tribal bigots; how was NNPC able to pay fuel subsidies to beneficiaries without passing through the CBN and finance ministry? Are you people telling us that they sold Nigeria's oil, the money was paid into our foreign account (maybe J.P Morgan ) and NNPC solely issued checks to the foreign bank for the subsidy beneficiaries to cash in dollars and then transfer the money to their accounts in Nigeria. I seem to be an accounting illiterate, so I need a learned person to tell me how $8.5 billion can pass through the country without the knowledge of the CBN or the finance ministry. |
Sincere 9gerian: Now that APC have significant numbers in the house of reps, they should invite all the relevant agencies and examine how the figures were reconciled and seek for answers to all the relevant questions. That is the beauty of the check and balances in a democracy. After inviting all the relevant agencies and if the so called subsidies are not reconciled, what should they do? commence impeachment proceedings against president Jonathan? Complete removal of fuel subsidy is never the solution, a corrupt regime will always find ways to defraud the citizens, subsidy or not. is it not curious that the more subsidy is removed, the more the amount of money used to subsidize increases. Nigeria is not Ghana, Ghana does not have the poor population and crude oil resources Nigeria has. If the government insist on complete removal of oil subsidies, then they should also completely hands off oil resources to the communities that own the oil, so they can sell and refine their oil at cheaper rate than Ghana. I can't imagine my community that has 13 oil Wells paying the same price as a Ghanaian with very little oil resources. |
Sincere 9gerian: GEJ wanted to remove the subsidy, all the controversies and corruption but Tinubu and his slaves said capital NO. Can you eat your cake and still have it? I guess its possible in Tinubu's world. You are a very despicable person and you are evil. I am sure you are worse than armed robber, drug pusher and ritual murderer all added together as you can do anything for money? How is fuel subsidy connected with unremitted $10.8b or is it $8.5b? Is Jonathan the first head of state to pay fuel subsidy in Nigeria or on the planet? was the fuel subsidy not taken care of by the 2013 appropriation act? who gave NNPC the authority to dish out our oil earnings as they like without the knowledge of the CBN or the finance ministry? Then what concerned Tinubu with the outright theft going on at NNPC? for your information most ordinary Nigerians are against outright removal of fuel subsidy and it has nothing to do with tribe, party or religion .it is only paid hacks like you and tribal bigots who swallow any shit excreted by Jonathan that support removal of subsidy. I am fvcking angry that ordinary suffering Nigerians being blamed for Jonathan's massive looting of the country. Even with the so called partial removal of fuel subsidy, I know how much I spend monthly on petrol for generator as the power situation is pathetic, not to talk on how much I burn on my car to move around, before I forget a substantial amount is also paid on generator to run my office, and you are here talking trash because you get free money for writing rubbish. If a massive additional $8.5b (outside the almost 1 trillion Nair appropriated by the national assembly 2013 for oil subsidy ) was used to further pay for oil subsidies, then you and your paymaster owes us a duty to publish the names of the people the subsidies were paid to, the amount paid and the quantify of fuel imported that the subsidy was paid for. |
one mopol: $49b minus $10.8b leaves us with a whooping $38.2b . My logic simply is Sanusi's books that could make this huge mistake in accounting to the tune of $38b can no longer be trusted. You people are pathetic liars and highly dishonest, you turn truth and logic on it's head. You said $49b minus $10.8b leaves a whooping $32.2b and still went on to say no money is missing. so where is the $10.8b? since you know where it is as madam finance minister has no clue, you better inform all of us. If you read sanusi's letter and the reconciliation meetings between CBN, NNPC, finance ministry and other relevant parastatals, you will see that no body accused sanusi of making accounting mistakes. Even president Jonathan did not ask sanusi to resign on account of accounting error or professional incompetence, he asked sanusi to resign based on his alleged leakage of the letter. Sanusi simply did not have any record of money being remitted for recorded oil liftings. NNPC's excuse was that the oil liftings recorded were done on behalf of third parties and not on behalf of Nigeria, that was responsible for the non remittance of $32.2 billion. Now how do you expect sanusi to kow which portion of our oil liftings is for the federal government and which portion is for third parties without having the records from NNPC? We are still waiting for the excuse of the non remittance of the balance $10.8 billion. Tribal bigotry seems to affect the brain's centre for comprehension and logical reasoning. |
I refuse to believe this phone conversation took place, if it did then it confirms president Jonathan is actually as clueless as he is accused. Even if he has no idea of what is inside the constitution he is supposed to be operating, he should have advisers that are conversant with the constitution. President Jonathan should know that he has no powers to ask the CBN governor to resign, so I am shocked he is denigrating the office of the president by even arguing with sanusi over the issue. Now that sanusi refused, what can he do? There are so many areas which the president goofed. If he has evidence that Sanusi breached the official secrete act by leaking an official government correspondence to the press, he should have hard fact evidence to present to Nigerians and the Senate if he wants sanusi removed. Instead what we have is unfounded allegations. Then why is president Jonathan not concerned about the unremitted $10.8 billions (as confirmed by the finance minister )? Why have the accounts not been reconciled? The period we are talking about is from January 2012 to June 2013 , when are they going to reconcile the accounts? after Jonathan leaves office? That $10.8 billion does not belong to the FG alone but also to the other federating units - ie the states and local governments, so the FG is still owing the states and local governments 45% of that money. president Jonathan prefers wasting energy curing pimples while leaving scabies. |
This case is straight forward, you can see all modifications to the wikipedia page from inception by clicking on the dates on the modification page. The name of the universities she attended were never stated in any of the previous dates. I honestly do not put much importance to wikipedia or facebook profiles as spicing them up do not amount to a crime (if it was i am sure up to 70% of Nigerians would be in jail). The crime would be if she submitted a fake certificate or fake resume to get a job. So copies of the certificates and resume she used in gettting employment at NNPC and those she submitted for her ministerial job should be presented to see if she lied or not. |
ogb5: Democracy calls for check and balances. How can there be checks and balance if there is no money? Did those that designed the constitution envisage that the Federal Government would prevent the State Assembly from sitting using the police? If the legislature is prevented from passing bills at the state assembly complex, then the governor's toilet might as well become an alternative venue. So what is your suggestion over the 2014 budget? That Rivers state should go without a budget for 2014? You want the state to be grounded for the whole year? You do not want civil servants to receive their salaries? even the judiciary to which you people will run to will need the budget to operate at all. You people are ready to cut every rivers state indigene's face to spite amaechi's face. |
Can't anyone confirm if the story is true? We have gone over 3 pages and yet no credible source. |
Too late. Why struggle to lock the gates after the horses have bolted out of the stable. Those that left the party on the excuse of Bamanga has already left, removing him now will not bring the Decampers back. He should have removed him months ago so that the decampers can look for another excuse to decamp. Removing Bamanga on the eve of an election year might be risky |
“In fact, we are building one small mini/private banquet hall for theI refuse to believe that a PhD holder who had held executive position before said that. if it would take 2 years to build a mini banquet hall of 100 capacity, then how many decades would it take them to build a stadium complex housing football fields, tennis courts, and all other sporting infrastructure? why does it have to be Julius Berger? There are tons of Nigerian construction firms that can deliver the project in 3 months from design to completion if well mobilized and at half the cost Julius Berger would do it. |
One thing you people have failed to realize is that most people do not know what Biafra is. What is BIAFRA and who is a biafran? Amaechi is saying " We are not Biafrans" because nobody has explained to him who a biafran is. Lots of core Igbos do not identify themselves as Biafrans. Even Rochas Okorocha has ever identified himself as a biafran. There are loads of Igbos in Lagos and even here on Nairaland who dont know what Biafra is all about. So you need to help us out what defines Biafra and a Biafran. is it language? is it a geographical location? is it according to place of birth, fathers roots, mothers roots? what? One more thing, is being a biafran by force? because from what i read on nairaland ,any igbo speaking person who does not identify with biafra is insulted, intimidated and even threatened and called all sorts of names like traitor. |
The OP should go further by asking which why rivers men answer such foreign names like Lloyd, Evans, Princewill, brown,White and traditional English names, not even as first names but as family names. What about igbos bearing all sort of names like precious,Miracle, millicent, Bonaventure and all sorts of names even the English people don't bear. If the OP does not see any thing wrong with black africans bearing traditional English, scottish or even irish names but quarrels with nigerians bear nigerian names from another tribe where they probably have uncles, aunties, and cousins from, then he must have a serious psychological disorder called colo mentality |
Should Nigerians be responsible for the upkeep of the president 's pets? how much was he spending on them before he became president and how much will he be spending on them when he leaves aso rock. This is a glaring case of abuse of office. Abeg helep me ask aunt ngozi what happened to the monetization policy of her first coming, whereby all allowances are paid to public officers to take care of all their official entitlements like housing, feeding, transportation, etc. |
Igbo Delta: THIS THREAD IS ABOUT POPULATION DENSITY IN ALA IGBO NOT BIAFRA. YOU GUYS ARE SO FULL OF BIGOTRYCan you do us all a favour and give us the geographical boundaries of Biafra. It will enable us examine the population density of Biafra instead of that of ala Igbo. |
That was why I keep asking the Biafran separatists the question: where are they going to house the tens of millions of ndigbo who will flee from Lagos, Ibadan, Kano, Abuja and other Nigerian cities in the event of war? does alaigbo have the land and resources to cater for millions of refugees? |
The adage *"be careful what you wish for, you just might get it " is very applicable here. Igbos screaming we want separation have not even considered the implications of their wish. They are blinded by hatred, greed, quest for power and egocentricity to even define define what they understand by separation. I have often asked what is the type, extent and boundaries of the separation Igbos are asking for? 2013 is not 1967 eastern Nigeria was united under one government. Today the states, governments, tribes and clans are more divided than ever and this runs through all regions of Nigeria. Are you people advocating we go back to pre-colonial times where every clan was autonomous? because the British first almagamated clans, tribes and regions before almagamating Nigeria. People using former Soviet republic as a poster example of separation are economical with with truth. First the former Soviet republics did not separate in the true sense of the word, they gained independence. The way Nigeria gained independence in 1960. They were formerly under Russian colonization and Russia decided to let go. Then most importantly, which one of the former Soviet Republics are doing better now than they did under Russian rule? even Ukraine that was a military and industrial powerhouse is a shadow of it's former self. Since independence they have been stumbling from one political crises to the other and are looking towards the EU to bail them out of economic problems. South Sudan is the closest example of Nigeria. you have oil in minority areas, you have various tribes justling for power, you have greed, corruption etc. so south Sudan will give us an idea what separation and division will do to Nigeria. We from the nigerdelta do not want separation what we want is 50% derivation, true federalism and resource control. We are well aware that if separation occurs our lands will become the battle ground for the control of our oil resources not just by the three major tribes of Hausa, Yoruba and igbo ,but also by world's powers like Britain /France /the US versus China /Russia. Unless we submit ourselves to US protection like Kuwait and the Saudis. |
I agree with most of what is written about amaechi thought I support him in the Jonathan/Amaechi roforofo fight. The problem is that the Jonathan camp gravely mismanaged the situation. The mismanaged the governorship forum elections, they mismanaged the river's state assembly crisis, they even mismanaged the sacking of the local government chairman (cant remember the name now ) they should know that Nigerians love the underdog that is why the David vs Goliath story is popular. Nigerians and the media would always support the underdog against a powerful oppressive opponent. It was his underdog syndrome that made Nigerians in general fight vehemently to have Jonathan installed as acting president when he seems powerless against the cabal. it is still the underdog syndrome (I had no shoes ).that make people vote for Jonathan across Nigeria. So it is very wrong strategy by goodluck and patience to use the overwhelming apparatus of the state to be fighting Amaechi. immediately you people adopted that strategy people began to see amaechi as David fighting Goliath. I personally do not like the way amaechi has personalize the fight with Jonathan and he makes it seems as If the reason he is supporting the aggrieved PDP governors is all about getting back oil Wells from bayelsa. To me this will alienate other governors of the north who complain of party dictatorship by the tukur led executives |
Orlando Owoh: DementedGull, Richard Mofe Damijo is Itsekiri. Stop displaying your senility here.Eyimofe (this is what I want) Damijo (let me dance) is an itsekiri name but I don't think Richard More Damijo is itsekiri. I hear his parents are Urhobo but he adopted his guardian's name, just like the babayaros who are igbo by origin but adopted their benefactors name. But it is all good, hardly will you find an urhobo without itsekiri linkage and vice versa. like we use to say itsekiris and Urhobos fight during the day but make love at night. |
shine eye: u see what am saying,u assume that am a parasite like you yorubas clinching on our oil like no tomorrow, cant you guys survive without my black gold? get it clear my friend i can go and take a photo of oil spill in my back yard and post it here can u do the same? and stop using multiple ID itsekiri man or wana beMe wirinet using multiple id and an itsekiri wannabe, now you exhibit symptoms of psychosis and delusion. you tell yourself anything to make yourself feel good. Anyway you can create your reality and believe in it, it's your problem not mine. |
shine eye: dont worry about how we are going to achieve it,worry about urs,you people really believe oil reserve in alaigbo is not enough hahahaha igboland is surrounded with billions and trillions of oil and gas your leaders are not telling you the truth.See bragging. 3 igbo states supply oil and gas? abeg which 3 states? and how much oil and gas are they supplying? it is easy to calculate, just look at the amount they get from 13% derivation and you would have an idea. I am sure my village produces more crude than any of the three states and you say my region is benefitting from your meager supply. I am very your state do not contribute a drop of oil to Nigeria and you are here accusing others of benefitting. |
