PoliticsRe: Amaechi Is A Beneficiary Of The ‘missing’ $5 Billion ECA Fund-fg by wirinet(m): 5:45pm On Nov 19, 2013
This Nigerian so called federation should be called a voodoo federation. So the federal government just call the states and tell them this is your share of this month's oil receipts without showing the revenue profile of the federation or where the money is coming from. Because obviously tge governors have no idea of how much money they are entitled to or whether the money is coming from the federation account, the excess crude account or even President Jona's personal account.
If the excess crude account is supposed to belong to all three tiers of government ( as savings for the rainy day), how come the federal government shared it without informing the states where the money is coming from? they most likely assumed the money being shared must have come from the regular monthly oil receipts.

Even the national assembly have no idea of what is going on with the national finances. Left to me we should not waste time and so much money pretending we are operating a democracy and just have the president as absolute monarchy, who can do and undo and is not accountable to anybody.

I thought Tompolo and co have been contracted with billions of naira to protect our pipe lines and water ways, how come oil theft is such a problem that is causing us such huge shortfalls in our revenue?

Akanbi_edu: And people spend days arguing with this kind of poster.
You should understand what i am talking about, it is difficult to get all your thoughts out when you are typing on a phone with a 2.5 x 1.5 screen. I mean all the time she was in the PDP government, she never showed any ambition to contest an elective post. And that was the height of her popularity.

She only contested after she left government and was drafted by Peter Obi to contest for senator. A politician involved in party politic would always contest for one post or the other in every election season. I hope you get my drift.
PoliticsRe: Jega Should Resign And Jonathan Should Appoint Dora Akinyuli As INEC Chair. by wirinet(op): 11:35am On Nov 18, 2013
Ngwakwe: All these because APC lost an election that is definitely beyond them, even when conducted over and over, APC will still never take 2nd position in Anambra State in this present political climate.

Definitely, the failure of APC to utilise those thugs cum observers arrested in Dysney Hotel in Owerri was a big blow to their success in Anambra guber election.
please remove your ethic lens once in a while so you can see issues in proper perspective. We are not talking about APC or Disney hotel, we are talking about organizing an election which can be seen locally and internationally as free, fair and credible as it is in other smaller African countries.

Rigged elections would come back and hunt everybody, even the winners in the future. So it is imperative we learn how to organize elections.
PoliticsRe: Jega Should Resign And Jonathan Should Appoint Dora Akinyuli As INEC Chair. by wirinet(op): 11:09am On Nov 18, 2013
nedu2000: I equally recommend that jega resigns but dora is involved in partisan politics and thus can't be given such a position....a university don/lecturer can be offer the position
I do not believe Dora is involved in partisan politics, she served under a PDP government and she did not contest any elective post. She was only drafted by Peter Obi to contest for senator and after she lost narrowly, she had remained politically mute.

I think Dora value her integrity, even during the yaradua fiasco she could not take the lies anymore and spoke out against the cabal. I bet that caused her to lose her ministerial position.
PoliticsJega Should Resign And Jonathan Should Appoint Dora Akinyuli As INEC Chair. by wirinet(op): 10:52am On Nov 18, 2013
The Anambra elections is admittedly flawed, even as admitted by Professor Jega himself. Since he admitted that one senior Inec staff had been compromised, it means others might have been compromised too. Meaning INEC does not have a system to check abuse of the process by it staff.

The so called cancellation is just a face saving gimmick, INEC does not have the powers to cancel elections once the result had been declared, only the courts have that power. If Obiano does not win a rerun or rescheduled election, he has a strong case in court to uphold the original results. Lawyers it is time to relocate to Anambra, there is plenty of meat there.

Anyway, since Professor Jega has shown that he is incapable of controlling INEC, i thing he should resign and go back to professing.
If nigerians want a semblance of credible elections in 2015, i think Dr. Dora Akinyuli should be drafted to INEC, she has shown that she is incorrigible and incorruptible, with the magic she performed at NAFDAC in which she almost eliminated the fake drug pandemic before she was drafted to the information ministry. I am sure she would be able to sanitize INEC to an extent.
PoliticsRe: Anambra Election: Inec Citizens Contact Centre: Reporting Live by wirinet(m): 8:09am On Nov 18, 2013
Ferdinandu: ANAMBRA ELETION RESULT:

APGA Willie Obiano= 174,710

PDP Ton Nwoye= 94,356

APC Chris Ngige = 92.300

INEC returning officer said that the commission will hold supplementary elections in area where elections were canceled as a result of logostic problem.

election was therefore declared "INCONCLUSIVE"
Lets examine the figures.
The total number of votes cast is about 400,000. The total number of registered voters is About 1.8 million. This means about 23% of registered voters that voted or allowed to vote.

The APGA candidate won with 174,000 votes. This means 9.6% of anambrains voted the governor into office.
It also means that out of the total population of about 5million, only about 3.5% of the population is going to be responsible for putting the governor into office.

Meanwhile, the main political parties - APC, PDP and APGA has at least 10,000 members in each local government, and we are told there are 21 local governments in Anambra. So each of these parties should score at least 200,000 votes from their members in the elections, how come we are having abysmally poor voter records? Didn't the ordinary Anambra citizen vote at all? Is it that Anambra people are not politically sophisticated and so they refuse to participate in elections. Or they were deliberately disenfranchised by INEC.

Please anambra brothers help us solve these riddles, it might help towards the 2015 elections.
PoliticsRe: Why Lamido, Kwankwaso, Aliyu Abstained From Amaechi's NGF Retreat by wirinet(m): 7:26am On Nov 18, 2013
The most fatal error any member of the G7 can do is to capitulate to the PDP, whatever carrot they are promised or offered, they would be seriously dealt with once the PDP stabilizes once again. They should go and ask Atiku compromised and accepted the V.P slot instead of holding his ground and deal with OBJ when he had the chance to.

That is why I admire Amaechi, he understands it his has got to the point of no retreat, no surrender, he either wins gallantly or lose woefully.

Lamido, kwankwaso and Aliu better endure now or they would be signing their obituary - politically and physically.

Buchika: why is it too hard for our politicians to accept defeat, apart from the obosi problem, its almost the same situation all over the state. late arrival of inec staffs and voting material. the looser s are crying wolf.
Should you not be concerned that in a single election in a small state like anambra and with the full resources of INEC- both materially and financially, voting materials could not arrive on time in most polling boths?
Forget about who won or lost for a second, are you not concerned about INEC's ability to conduct elections after 13years of experience?
PoliticsRe: APGA LEADING IN 20 LGA.:INEC Set To Declare Obiano Winner Of Anambra Election by wirinet(m): 5:06am On Nov 18, 2013
I will not take a position on the anambra elections until I read the report of both national and international election observers, but this election is a dress rehersal for the 2015 elections. But if it was massively rigged as alleged then we are in for a very violent time in 2015. I would advice people to relocate to their ethnic enclaves before the elections for safety.

Having said that, even if this election is declared free and fair, it still cannot pass as a representation of the wishes of Anambra citizen. An election where less than 30% of registered voters voted or were allowed to vote, or put in another way, an election were less than 15% of registered voters or less than 5% of the total population supported and voted the governors cannot be a true representation of the wishes of the people. Even the total number of registered members of APGA or APC would be close to the 200,000 - 250,000 votes that would win this election, so in effect the ordinary voter had little input in the elections.

PoliticsRe: Buhari's Pathetic Utterances by wirinet(m): 5:19am On Nov 16, 2013
Many of us from the Niger Delta view the amnesty program as a reward for crime. It is an error of judgement by yaradua to reward groups who killed, bombed, maimed other Nigerian and kidnapped foreigners with money. While their leaders were rewarded with billions of naira and contracts. I said it then and i am saying it now, more groups would be encouraged to take up arms and bombs to get their own amnesty too.

People try to differentiate between boko haram and militants by arguing that Niger Delta militant were fighting against environmental degradation by oil companies. Really? Are they telling us environmental pollution has stopped? Have the oil companies stopped polluting the environment? Have gas flaring stopped? Have the cleaned previous oil spillages? Are they cleaning up fresh ones? You need to come to my village to understand the amount of pollution going on.

The money used to bribe the militants and their leaders could have been put to better use, it could have been used to equip the navy to better navy and air force to protect the creeks and oil installations, it could have been used to educate and train ALL Niger delta youths, it could could have been used to clean up the environment, but using it to bribe militants is a waste of money. They would start killing and bombing again once the money stops flowing. Once Jonathan leaves Aso Rock, the ijaw militants would return to the creeks.

I did not support amnesty for militants and i do not support amnesty for Boko Haram or any other terrorist group. I support the carrot and stick approach. Provide education(free scholarships), training and jobs for jobless youths being recruited as terrorists and deal mercilessly with the unrepentant onces. Abacha dealt mercilessly with maitasimi insurgency and OBJ dealt mercilessly with anyone that took up arms against the state.

Youngzedd: Hehehe!

This can't stop Ngige from wining tomorrow.

Yes he rigged the other election and did his work perfectly, then who cares.

Nothing on earth will stop me from voting Ngige tomorrow because I know that all the candidates will rig theirs in one way or the other.

Am not voting for APC rather Ngige himself.

Click like if your voter's card is for ONWA.

Peace out!
Correction, Ngige did not rig any election, he neither had the resources nor the influence to rig the 2003 elections. He was a beneficiary of election rigging by those OBJ handed over Anambra to. Just like OBJ handed Oyo to Adedibu who decided to give the governorship to Akala, since Ladoja refused to share, OBJ handed Anambra to Chris Uba who could decide to instal his dog as governors if he wanted. So he chose Ngige after some swearing at Okija shrine to share the booty. The only reason Peter was able to win at the tribunal was because he got the support of INEC, as OBJ and Chris Uba had tried all other means to remove Ngige.

In Nigeria, almost all the governors under IWU's INEC were rigged into power. Even Fashola was rigged in by Tinubu. There was no way Fashola would have won a free and fair AC primary in lagos as he had no political antecedents.
PoliticsWhere Is The Endorsement Of Ojukwu For The APGA Candidate? by wirinet(op): 7:14pm On Nov 15, 2013
One the eve of the last governorship election in anambra, the leader and soul of APGA - Dim Chukwemeka Ojukwu, endorsed the APGA candidate, peter Obi, with literally his last breath. His last wish was for anambrains to elect peter Obi back into office. And this endorsement played a prominent role in ensuring that Peter Obi was returned as governor.

Now enter 2013, and no Ojukwu has come out to endorse Willie Obiano, the APGA candidate, why? Even though the new leader is now Ojukwu's wife, the beautiful Mrs Bianca Ojukwu, she had not come out to endorse Willie Obiano, not to talk of campaigning for him. What about other Ojukwu siblings and family members, a deafening silence. Could they be supporting another candidate?

Some might argue that endorsements by ojukwu family is not important but they are wrong. Obamas chances against Hillary Clinton and in the US elections was greatly boosted by the endorsement of JFK's Kennedy's sister. People vote based on acceptance by a revered political dynasty.

So why are the Ojukwus not throwing their weight behind APGA in the governorship elections?

maasoap: I was told that three people were to go from each ward and that my name has been included. I asked them two questions without getting satisfactory answers: 1. What is the mission all about? 2. How much are we talking about? Then I told them that the fact that I'm an unemployed graduate doesn't mean that whatever they are going to pay me really worth my life. Two of my friends (also unemployed graduate) were approached, I told them the risks involved in embarking on such a journey but I think they needed money badly. Right now, one of them is among the arrested group. We couldn't reach the other one as at this moment. When my friend went to the meeting with the trip organisers on Tuesday, they told the recruits that they would give each of them #20,000 feeding allowance for five days they are going to spend there right before they leave Osun state. And that their yet to be determined payment for job weldone would be paid to them when they return. My friend even told us on phone that there were screen out in Imo state, those who couldn't speak English Language were screen out. Something they were supposed to have been done before they left Osun state. If some Nairalanders, some APC members and sympathizers, some Yoruba or neutral people refuse to believe this news, I wouldn't blame them because when Farouk Lawal was alleged to have taken bribe from Otedola, I refused to believe it until he admitted taken bribe himself. I wanted to post topic about this thing last week but I just thought that people wouldn't believe me. Because I didn't think that police would be able to arrest some of them. I was only thinking about the moral aspect, risk of travelling on Nigeria roads, as well as election violence in Nigeria couple with risk of going to an unknown territory to illegally participate in an election of that magnitude when I turned down the offer. No way! So, if you are saying it is not true, I would simply ask you to help me pray for my two friends to return home safely.
This story get as it be. It cannot pass as evidence in any court of law.
Now lets analyse the confessions line by line.
1. Who told you that 3 people were to go from ward to ward? Who were they? Names. Were they already known to you or were total strangers? And how did your name get included in their list? Are you a well known reputed thug?

2. You did not state the mission you were being solicited for, so how can you assess the risks involved? Since two of your friends were also approached and they accepted the mission, it means you are in a group of thugs.

You said a lot of things without saying anything. You fail to mention who or the party that was doing the recruiting, you fail to mention the mission and you fail to mention the modus operandi of the mission. So what do you want us to believe? And how is this related to you believing or disbelieving the farook lawan case?

PoliticsRe: Hoodlums Arrested With Guns & Fake INEC ID Cards In Imo by wirinet(m): 6:29am On Nov 15, 2013
Oh boy, see format. Osun indigenes travelling to anambra via imo to rig elections with 2 dane guns. This is calculated to discredit Ngige on the eve of the elections. A few yoruba youths travelling to the heart of igbo land to rig elections is a confirmed suicide mission. It is like a few igbo youths travelling to kano to rig a governorship election on the eve of the election. I can place a wager that no one of them would make it back alive.

Elections can only be rigged by locals and not by outsiders, not to talk of another tribe.

Igbo are becoming masters of ethnic, tribal and religious propaganda as a political tool. I hope it does not backfire in the long run.

Lust for money, really can destroy.
If we are not ripe for state police, then we are not ripe for state high court, state house of assembly or even state governments. Is it not absurd that federal police implement laws made by state house of assemblies in state high courts.
Besides it is impossible for federal police to police every village and town in nigeria, the number of personel needed would be tremendous.

The problem we have in Nigeria are the courts, if the courts are truly independent and just, it would be difficult for governments - whether state or federal to misuse the police.
Science/TechnologyRe: The Man Electricity Can Not Kill With Pictures by wirinet(m): 1:58pm On Nov 13, 2013
The report is slightly misleading. It is not exactly current that is dangerous but voltage. A 12v ac or dc passing through the body is harmless, the current will depend on the resistance of the body. A 110 ac voltage passing through the body can be harmful but not fatal. That is why the us and Japan uses 110V, to avoid fatalities in case of electricution. Meanwhile 220V, which is our own standard is fatal. If you take the full brunt of 220V without any insulation whatsoever, you chance of surviving is very slim.

If 415V (voltage before step down from your transformer) pass through any animal(including humans), the animal would quickly dehydrate and catch fire. Now imagine what will happen if you touch those 125,000volts that feed the subsections. You would simply vapourize.

Having said that people have different tolerance level to electric current depending on the amount of salt in our bodies. But that still does not mean any living thing can survive 415 volts.
So they should tell us the voltage passing through the man's body and not the current

Nigeria of 1967 to present, Gowon, northern regional politicians and civil war are the reasons corruption runs amok in Nigeria. Disintegration of Nigeria will surely usher new era and political direction for new nation states.
You make amazing claims that borders on utopia or dreamland. How can you make the spurious claim that the northern regional politicians and the civi war are responsible for the corruption in Nigeria? are you saying that the easterner and western politicians are not corrupt or were not corrupt before the civil war? What exactly was the reason Nzeogwu planned and executed the first coup in Nigeria? was it not because be believed corruption had run amok? Please grab some education on the events leading to the civil war, if you were not born then or ask people who survived it.

Please explain how disintegration of Nigeria would help solve corruption problems, would disintegration stop the chairman of a local government chairman or other politicians in the proposed Biafra country from stealing? Would disintegration magically stop the chairman of Onitsha market from embezelling contributed funds? In that case any country with corruption issues should just disintegrate the country into multiple parts, and voila! corruption will magically disappear. The hearts of politicians will immiediately be controlled by the disintegration spirit. Disintegration appart from politicians will clean the hearts of pastors, imams, traditional rulers and all citizens.

PoliticsRe: Confab Outcome Must Be Subject Of Referendum – Ekwueme & Others by wirinet(m): 8:18am On Nov 07, 2013
Good suggestion in theory, but impracticable in reality when applied to the Nigerian situation. First of all, the Nigerian constiution (which is the highest law of the land) does not make provision for referendums, so unless the national assemby change the constitution to reflect the use of referendums, the whole exercise would be an exercise in frutility. Secondly even a referendum cannot help the igbos or other minorities realize their goals, a nationwide referendum would suffer the same fate as regular elections, which gives the north and the south west at an undue advantage as a result of inflated population figures and skewed political arrangements. The votes of the north and the south west is enough to defeat any referendum not in their interest. So unless we correct the huge structural imbalances in the nigerian federation and have accurate cencus figures, a referendum cannot change the status quo.

Most other countries including Europe and asia do not bother wasting money on bogus space programs. And it is only very recent that China has joined the space race.
